Stormrise is a very good game! The characters and their dialog are terrible, but when your past that you will have a blast playing this RTS (Real Time Strategy). Allot of people who have reviewed this game have given it a bad review because they have compared this game to command and conquer and halo wars (both great games). They need to under stand that this is so different than those two games. The games mechanics are very easy to use and the new "whip select" method I LOVE it, this allows you to easily and quickly change from one unit to the next by just slapping the analog stick in the direction of the unit you want to command. They also allow you to use indirect command to allow you to advance with allot of units instead of one at a time.

Graphicsthis game has a good amount of detail for a RTS, the walls the characters and the environment all look really well and this is the first RTS game I have played where the building are actually with in a realistic scale to the troops and vehicles.

Game playThe game is so easy to just get lost in the power of commanding your army and hours will fly by as you build your nodes with turrets, shields, refineries, and warp gates. Then use the energy these nodes create to buy infantry, elite soldiers, sentinel snipers, Combat vehicles, sentinel scouts, tanks, aircrafts, and commanders in power suites. As you begin to build your army you want to keep control of your nodes, have snipers on the roofs, and sentinel surrounding the parameter to keep a solid fortress. Then have your troops advance on a enemy node to capture it and turn it to your advantage until all node are yours. This can be very fun as you have the ability to switch to any of your units in a flick of the analog stick just as you see the enemy has a huge army storming its way to retake the nodes and then you have a real battle on your hands. The only thing that is a little bothersome is the camera control but its a minor problem.

SoundOne of my most favorite things is the music. As the battle heats up the sick guitar driven metal music kicks in making you wants to tear apart the enemy and take all they have. Sound fx are decent and are nothing that stands out from what I can tell so far.

MultiplayerThis game allows for you to take your domination online to your friends or strangers which is a very tense experience because you now have what could be a lesser, equal, or greater opponet(s) against you so you will never know until your teams collide in combat. For practice you can play skirmish mode were you can play the AI in any map or setting just like online.

OverallI purchased this item brand new for $30 against what all the reviewers gave this game and I am so glad I did, this will be a game that I will enjoy for a long time. If you don't have this game, pick it up ( Its only $30!!!) and you will have a very good RTS for the console side of this genre. I give this gave five stars because I believe that a 4 is too low. out of 10 I give this game a very solid 8.5

AWESOME GAME-8.5/10 *****

If you give Stormrise a chance you'll find its a very enjoyable rts. I like its slower pace and huge environments with battles taking place on tops of towering skyscrapers all the way deep down to the depths of underground parking garages, this make Stormrise an excellent addition to anyones gaming collection.

It really adds more strategy and makes the player fight for every inch of ground to advance so don't expect short battles or cheap tactics like "rushing" to work in this game because you'll end up dead.

The graphics are very nice and right up there with Endwar, but everything's on a much larger scale in this game. No more tiny little buildings not much bigger than a tank, cityscapes have finally been done perfectly in Stormrise with its huge towering skyscrapers...

The game has a few flaws but nothing that can't be patched later.

The controls aren't game breaking, infact they are very similar to Endwar to some extent.

Stormrise is ambitious, innovative and alot of fun,I recommend buying this game.

the games has its flaws (more than others) but with practice and some luck lol its a different experience and maybe with some patching could be a really fun game

This game tries to bring up to date the starcraft/warcraft type games from the PC to the PS3 platform. I have played it for a while. The controls take getting used to and some maps are hard to navigate. The action sometimes happens so fast you never get a chance to respond you can be fighting on multiple fronts and miss a lot of things. This means you are relegated to setting up strong defenses and only sending out one sortie at a time.

The plot line sounds fantastic but I would have enjoyed cinematic transitions more and more development of the plot.

I give it 3.5 stars but if you are a die hard starcraft fan you might consider it a 4 star title

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program As an avid gamer I'm always in the market for new and quality gaming accessories for my PlayStation 3. Over the years I've owned countless joysticks, headsets, driving wheels and other peripherals for both PC and consoles. Manufacturers are always developing new gadgets for us gamer-types to throw our money at and HORI is no exception. As I always enjoy testing out new gaming devices here are my thoughts on the HORI PlayStation 3 Flight Stick 3;

Pros

+ Buttons are fully programmable with 3 presets to save.

+ Extremely realistic and sturdy HOTAS (Hands-On Throttle & Stick) design.

+ Adjustable sensitivity controls.

+ Adhesive suction cups.

+ Rumble/vibration options.

+ Hori quality product.

+ Compatible with PC after a few setting configures.

Cons

$150 is spendy for a peripheral.

Takes up quite a bit of space.

Must be mounted on a table or smooth surface.

Can't adjust the physical resistance of the stick and throttle. The resistance might be too stiff for some.

Flight simulators are a bit of a niche category on consoles and games will be limited.

The HORI PlayStation 3 Flight Stick 3 is by far of the best flight stick I've ever owned across both PC and consoles. It's amazingly well built, realistically designed, responsive and versatile. I've used it consistently on the following games without no issues; IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X 2, Air Conflicts and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. If you're a big fan of flight simulators or air combat games then this is the peripheral for you. If you can stomach the $150 price tag, have the table/desk space for set up and some great flight simulator games to go along with it then you'll be happily taking down those enemy planes in no time.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Once you start using the Flight Stick 3 to play games such as Ace Combat: Assault Horizon playing the same game with the traditional PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (Black) seems sad and pathetic.

I thought it might not be as much fun using the flight stick because you can't literally hold it in your hand like you do with the traditional controller, but I had no problem using this set on the coffee table in my living room.

It was not difficult to get the hang of using the Flight Stick 3. In fact, I found I have better control of the velocity and aiming than I do with the Dual Shock. For the first time, I was really able to get as close as I wanted to the planes I was chasing and keep the machine gun firing right up their tails. Besides the ability to change the settings of which button does what in your game software, the controller has some switches which make customizing your Flight Stick's sensitivity and function intuitive and easy even mid-game. And I especially like the addition of single buttons which press both L2/R2 and L1/R1 because this makes playing Ace Combat a lot more fun with the ease of performing counter-maneuvers and entering dogfight mode on those split second opportunities that I would miss with the Dual Shock.

Not just as a controller, but as a replica as well, the purely decorative features which are meant to give you the look and feel of real aircraft controls add to the pleasure of owning this device. Rather than simply add pieces of plastic that look like the additional controls that you wouldn't use in a video game, the dials actually move. There is very nice attention to detail here.

Though I only just received this flight stick, I have had a couple of others in the past which were flimsy and uncomfortable, and wouldn't stand up to heavy use over a long period. No such problems with the Flight Stick 3.

Lastly, it's important to note that this controller does give you the vibration feel of other Playstation Dual Shock controller, though not so strongly that it might cause your problems with comfort and control. The controller wont dance on the table if you let go of it from the vibrations. The fairly hefty weight of this set also contributes to its feel of quality and reality.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a fantastic flight stick made by Hori. I tried this out with After Burner, Hawx, Ace Comabt, and IL-2. The best response I got was playing a non flight sim like After Burner. When playing sim games, the stick felt a bit too stiff and I couldn't respond as quick as I would have liked. It probably takes some breaking in before it will feel perfect, but I have been playing with the PS controller so long that the flight stick seemed harder for me to control the aircrafts.

The quality of the stick is amazing, and replicates a real flying stick nicely. I took flying lessons before (only a few hours away from getting my private license) and have played flight sims with a yoke and rudders and I always felt those gave the best experience to flying. However, for air combat, a flight stick is more what a pilot would use. I had no problem with the stick moving once mounted on my glass top coffee table. You can switch up the buttons on the fly. Most of the games I tried it on did not have the Hori on as a default, but had Thrustmaster. If I could get an attachment for the rudders so I could use my feet to control the plane better, I think the experience would be even better.

It's a bit pricey, but if you are an enthusiast, you will love it. Hori did a good job with the quality of this controller. I would give it 5 stars if I was able to adjust the stiffness. All in all, I recommend this to all flying enthusiast. Others also mentioned it is PC compatible so that is a plus and might justify it's price tag for some.

I bought this stick for my PS3 because I have a seat setup that I use for GT5 and I wanted to adapt that to have a real cockpit feel. This stick seemed to be the perfect option. I'm new to flight games so I wasn't sure what to expect. As others have noted, this stick looks and feels very real. There is a spacer that can be put on the stick if you have a smaller hand. The cable between the two units is plenty long so I was able to place the throttle and stick where I was most comfortable. The buttons on the throttle and stick are in the perfect locations I especially like the thumb button on the stick. I would typically use that one for machine guns and would map the trigger button to the rockets/cannons. For some reason, the trigger button doesn't seem to automatically map to anything that shoots straight out of the box. The vibration on the stick really adds to the feel of the game without disrupting it. I don't know if the suction cups are sufficient I used screws in place of the cups to lock both the throttle and stick down.

So, that is all the good stuff. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, the stick is very stiff to move. Too stiff for me and there is no way to adjust it. Even with the sensitivity adjustments, I found it really difficult to shoot anything. Landings were also especially difficult. In addition to the stiffness, there is a big, and I do mean big, dead zone in the middle. The sensitivity switch doesn't seem to help with this. I would be flying in a straight line and I could move the stick around in a fairly large circle with no effect on the plane. This coupled with the stiffness of the stick made it very difficult for me to use. I used this stick with three games Blazing Angels 2, IL-2 Birds of Prey, and HAWX 2. I had the best results with Blazing Angels however several times in the game when I would shoot at something, the screen would jump in and out of `external view' ( the view that gives a look at the entire scene externally rather than from the plane) when I pulled the trigger, making it really hard to shoot anything. Sometimes when I would shoot, it would jump to external view and stay there and I would have to restart from the latest checkpoint to get out of that mode. I tried pressing every button on the stick and throttle to get out of that mode but it just would not. I tried several different configurations in the game setup and couldn't make this behavior stop. In IL-2, I couldn't get out of the training sessions since they all required me to exercise a button (fire a weapon, look around, enhanced target view, etc.) that I couldn't get the stick or throttle to do. There may be a configuration way to get that to work but after trying several of them, I gave up. For HAWX 2, I tried all the setups and finally got the last one to work (don't remember the name of the configuration but it was the last one in the list). I may have been able to get the other ones to work as expected by remapping all of the buttons on the stick and throttle (as well as the axis and throttle itself) to locations supported by that configuration but that's just too much work. As it was, when I got to the third or fourth mission where I had to use my cannons to shoot planes in a canyon (the enemy planes would just use their flares to decoy the missles) I couldn't get any of the buttons to fire the cannons. This was weird since I did make it through the training missions and I think I fired cannons there. I also found landing extremely difficult with this stick because of the stiffness combined with the large dead zone.

Anyway, these were my experiences. Although I spent a lot of time trying to get the configurations to work, adjusting the sensitivities and using various remappings, I ultimately found this stick just too difficult for me to use. Everyone else has given this stick 5 stars so maybe I'm doing something (or several somethings) wrong but it just wasn't worth it to me to spend endless hours figuring it out. In frustration, I went to a local store in town and played with the different brands of sticks they had on display (they didn't have this one). All of them were so much easier to both fly and aim/shoot (smaller dead zone, much less and/or adjustable stiffness) that I can't understand why this one was made this way.The funny thing is that the throttle does have a `friction' adjustment but the stick does not! I didn't try any technical support so I can't comment on whether they could have helped or not. Maybe they could have with the game configurations and maybe even the dead zone but I'm sure nothing can be done about the stiffness. This stick could have been so much better.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm embarrassed, as usual, when I find myself in such august company as the previous reviewers, since they are obviously dedicated gamers with vast experience with flight sticks. I would suggest you also read their reviews and you will undoubtedly find what you want to know about the Hori PS3 stick. I am, however, not entirely without a personal perspective on this neat controller, so I would like to just put down what I can tell you, for what it is worth. I hope I add even one little bit of information that is new and helpful.

Right out of the box, you have the main stick, the throttle, 8 suction cups, grip pad, and the instruction manual. I think it is obvious from the pictures of the Hori flight stick that you have an independent joystick and throttle, and you may have heard of this as being HOTAS, or Hands on Throttle and Stick. What that means is that it simulates real life and enables the pilot (you) to control all the plane functions without removing your hands from the stick or throttle.

One of the first things I noticed was how substantial this controller feels. Heavy, unbreakable. It does take up a good bit of space on a flat surface, so I don't leave it set up all the time. But it isn't like it's difficult to pull out and stick down. There is extra rubber on the throttle to improve your grip, which you know you need when you're hot on the tail of another plane....or there's one about to fly up your pipe. Okay, so that's comfort and control and realism.

As for customizing the control, all the buttons are remappable. The torque load on the throttle can be readjusted for rumble or vibration to enhance the sense of realism. You can quickly change between three preset throttle/rudder control responses with a single switch. I haven't even begun to explore all the ways the control can be customized to my personal style and touch.

I like using the flight stick so much more than my original PS3 controller, but the price still makes me wince. I think, though, if you want a flight stick you want a good one, right? Nothing is worse than struggling with an inferior controller. So in that sense it is definitely worth it.

I would like to lead things off by saying this game is CHALLENGING. At times, almost to a fault. I think this is where people get irritated with this game and walk away. Hell, the "tutorial stage" was harder than some games' last stages. This is the number one thing to keep in mind........expect to get frustrated. In fact I rarely find myself taking frequent breaks from games, but Between some of the replicated stages and the shear fact that the vampires are NOT easy to sneak by, I had to to retain my sanity.

Now for the rest of the game. It's fun. Nothing to blow your mind away, but a fun game provided to like a challenge. Think of it as Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell with very little room for error in the stealth aspect. You MUST not allow yourself to be seen. It's not like you can be seen, run and hide, be forgotten about and try again. You get seen in this game, you are forgotten only AFTER you're eaten.

Graphics are decent, nothing to write home about, but nothing too horrible. There are times where I wish they would have put a little more work in to it, but on the whole about three stars. The voice acting SUCKS!!!!! I don't know who they got for it, but it sounds like a junior high play in delivery. Controls are fair, nothing tremendously annoying and most are very natural although I have found myself occasionally running when I shouldn't have.

In short, this a solid 3 star game. Nothing that really comes out and grabs you.....whether good or bad. The few things that DO stand out GOOD compensate for the few things that stand out BAD. I wouldn't say it is a terrifying game, but the fact that you can't get complacent with movement does get your nerves on edge and when you get nabbed I know I still jump every now and then. A great idea for a game that was not treated how it deserved. I would definitely wait until it comes down in price to buy and even then I strongly recommend anyone to rent before buying it. It will NOT be for everyone.

There are reviews here that have mixed feeling about it. But here is my two cents: 1 cent-not splinter cell or metal gear! This game has vampires looking to kill you and eat you. That is what makes it hard to get around. 2 cent-vampires looking to kill and eat you with no where to go if you are seen is what makes this game hard. And there is my two cents. This game was interesting in what was listed above and I was glad that someone took the time to do something like this but I really wished that they had the fun factor in mind when creating this. Like I said before these are vampires and they have a heighten sense of reality but to make it to the point that you can't even survive long enough to get a feel for it will turn a lot of players off. IF you think this is just your average gun and run shooter which is what got me then you are in for a HUGE surprise. IF think that the tactics in Splinter cell and metal gear will get you by then you are in for an even bigger disappointment. I can't say enough that this game just plain out will have you wanting to just fling it against the wall cause its so hard and not fun at all when you think about other stealth games out there. If you feel that your skills in stealth are that good then here is a challenge for you and personally I didn't even finish it cause of the fact is was jsut frustrating trying to survive long enough to figure out how to get by one or two vampires. And if you are not on the roof in snipeing them off before moving you are dead. And if you shoot one and forget the other then come out of your hiding you are got cause they are moving to the sound of your shot. That is just one example of how frustrating it was. Get this if you think you got game but personally this will just piss you off the way it did me.

Buy Vampire Rain: Altered Species Now

Didn't really get much fun out of this game, based on 3 hours into it, there is still no "game" to play. There are cutscenes after cutscenes (in game graphix, no video), you spend the majority of the time you do get to use your character sneaking from point "a" to "b", and maybe you get to kill a vampire on the way. And the vampires? One hit your dead. One hit throws you into the air (there has been no counter or dodge as far as I can tell) the second hit finishes you off. 3 hours and I think I've come across 5 vampires. Very very weak game. Just save your cash and look for something else.

Read Best Reviews of Vampire Rain: Altered Species Here

Now personally I feel this game got 100 times more hate than it actually deserved, now the game isn't all that good but it's also not that bad either. I've seen videos of people playing this game and frankly they are playing the game wrong, this game is meant to be 100% stealth where you have to sneak by the vampire not fight them head on (except when the game actually wants you to fight them), but sneaking by these vampires is no easy task so be prepared to die again and again and again x10. The game looks like a first gen PS2 game, voice acting is okay, soundtrack is pretty good dark and mysterious, gameplay is a lot like Splinter Cell but a bit inferior. Overall the game can be fun at times but can be annoying to the point where you have to take a break from playing, still the game does have its good moments. If they ever make a Vampire Rain 2 and fix all the problems this game has, I personally think this could have the potential to be something great

Just bought PS3 Dangerous Hunts 2013 for my son for Christmas. There is no way that I can see to calibrate the gun. So you can't "point and shoot". Takes too long to aim. Very frustating. Probably just wasted 79 bucks. I'm using it on a 55" Sony. Seems to work a little better the farther away I stand, but I went back 12-14 feet and it was still way off, and that's as far away as I can get.

Have read the same complaint on several forums. Wish I would have read them before buying it...

Out of the box the led power indicator for the sensor bar was malfunctioning. A resistor fell off the board probably during shipping, and was rattling inside the housing, so I had to solder it back on.

No calibration for the gun what so ever. Innacurate, laggy, and the heart beat sensors are really pissing me off. Sometimes it takes more than 30 seconds to get lock on an animal despite holding both sensor pads firmly and not freaking out during that time.

Swithched back to the original PS3 controller and all is well.

I feel that the game should have been Move compatible, or, at the very least, not being sold at a premium price just because it comes with a paperweight gun.

The game is pretty good with solid graphics and gameplay overall.

If Activision would release a patch for the game to add a calibration menu, and loosen up on the heartbeat sensor zoom requirements, I'd gladly buy another. But as it stands right now, it's a turd that needs polishing and never should have been released in its current state.

I spent $70 on this item and I must say it is absolutely not worth the money. The gun is horrible and hard to control the game with. If there was a way to calibrate the gun so you could actually aim with it then I would give the game a higher rating, but since you can't adjust it, don't buy the game. Really isn't all that fun to play.

The game is bad only basic elements of real hunt... with same success instead of animals could be zombies you should fight back waves of ugly animals attacks shouting crazy like in DOOM. The gun is terrible, operates through chip plactic sensor operating with 2 AA batteries which plays role of move sensor was it so difficult to do the gun which will operate through regular PS3 moove sensor why invent a new wheel? Good calibrartion is impossible, VERY USER UNFRIENDLY !!! Now I use ussual dualshock works much better. But the game is a BIG frustration, The Gun is a Huge frustration. Kids wanted to return but "Toys R Us" does not take software back. I`m surprized that ACTIVISION did this S..T

This game is sooo much fun I know very little Japanese and even less Kanji/Hiragana but the menus and combos are very easy to figure out if you have ever played a Dynasty/Samurai warriors game you'll have an even easier time figuring out what is going on.

The game play is incredibly fun and I recommend this game to any One Piece fan and I recommend any Dynasty warrior / samurai warrior fan to give it a try

Fair warning only import this at this point if you are impatient like me it has been announced for a US/EU release this winter! (It's worth being impatient though the game is incredibly fun and it's always a good idea to support these sellers who have import games at reasonable prices :))

Hey all, I am a big fan of 1piece but its a bit dissapointing since :

1. It does not include the whole journey, some of it are missing (skypea, thriller bark, foxy crew, alvida, shanks, how they got going merry.. etc).

2. It is so much fun if I they include other characters in the journey (law, kid, etc) and I was hoping I can use all the characters including enemies ;p

3. They could have made the enemies super duper hard.. (I dont know if I can change the difficulty setting since its japanese..)

4. The existing story is too short, I've expected more than that.. eg, the battle against cp9, I thought I'll be battling against all the members of the cp9, but no.. only the giraffe, wolf, blueno and that tiger guy, forgot his name.. + baroque works, only battle against galdino aka mr3, mr2 bon clay, mr 0 croc, where's mr1(supa supa no mi?) and other female agents? (toge toge? mole? dog?)

5. Even if they include the story, they still left out some key part of it, eg, in shabaody there should be introduction of the 12 newcomers or whatever it is called..

Overall this is a great game and I would recommend it just for the sake of fun, if you love sengoku basara series, dynasty warriors, you should give this game a try..

As an avid buyer of collector's editions, I am beyond impressed with this one. The statue is wonderfully painted down to the smallest detail. This is one of the best painted statues I've ever seen based on a video game. Though it's not meant to be played with, it feels very sturdy. It's a bit heavy for it's size (maybe 4 lbs?) and the wingspan really makes it stand out. The art book is somewhat small, but the art inside is awesome. The cover is a slightly stained light blue cloth. The lithograph is nice enough quality to frame and put up on the wall. I am very happy I paid more for these extra additions, though I am disappointed there is no physical soundtrack (it's a download key, as is common these days). The music is one of my favorite things about this game.

The game itself is great as well. I am only a few hours in, but the music, the graphics, the story, the voice acting, it has all impressed me beyond all expectations. Highly recommend.

Product is awesome. Statue (which is sturdy & fairly high quality, a lot better than some of my other collector's editions) is easily displayed without even unsealing the box. Though I will say it looks even better out on a shelf. The art book, like most, has some very fascinating images ranging from concept art to screen shots. Keychain looks to be quality, though I'll personally keep it in the box. The included art print is the only thing I would consider dull, the size is just a bit too small to frame by itself. The game packaging is cool, but I personally like the inside art which makes the game case look more like its from the game.

Overall, Im excited to play through Bioshock Infinite over the next week or so. A+ to Irrational games!

PS: Amazon did an amazing job packaging this product: Collector's box inside a thick cardboard box for shipping, which Amazon put inside ANOTHER cardboard box to protect it even more. Thank You Amazon!

Not only that, but getting the Ultimate Songbird edition, however pricey, is totally worth every penny. Firstly, to comment on the contents of the Collector's Edition...everything is VERY cool, from the artbook to the large statue of Songbird. The statue is very sturdy and is a quality piece. I have it displayed in my living room on top of my media stand and it fits just perfectly, even outside of a "man-cave". The Handyman figure is weak, and the other items such as the vigor keychain are well built, nice items if you are a big fan. For me, the entire purchase was for the Songbird statue, and I was not disappointed. Here is my lengthy review of the actual game. Enjoy!

Over two years of hype and anticipation. The wait for Bioshock Infinite was killing me…but I was willing to be patient if it meant I was going to get an immersive, story-driven experience. It's literally been years since I looked forward to a title in the way I waited for this one. Not only did the release seem to take forever, the game was delayed not once, but twice! I thought that meant Irrational was ensuring the game was quality…was I right?

Graphics

Bioshock was the reason I bought an Xbox 360 back in 2007. The intro blew my mind. The fire on the water, the lighthouse, the lighting…it all looked amazing. Bioshock Infinite never failed to capture that same wonder, as the first time I walked through the candlelit baptism scene early in the game, I literally uttered, "Wow." Infinite looks great, but the graphics aren't as ground breaking this time around because the console has basically been pushed to its limit. Artistically however, the game really rocks, as there are numerous scenes that are very memorable, from the Hall of Heroes to Elizabeth's powers later in the game. I have to point out the negatives too, and the only thing I noticed were some frame rate issues. It doesn't ruin the experience, but it's noticeable at multiple times throughout the game.

Sound

This time around the protagonist speaks! I was a little worried about the voice acting, the dialogue, and how cheesy it could potentially be, but shame on me for being a doubter. The voice acting is very solid throughout, as the voxophones serve as one of the main drivers of the story. The score is also very unique and well done, most notably the more mellow scenes, such as the arrival into Columbia ("Hallelujah.") Also, the licensed music is pretty great. I loved the old-school music from Bioshock and Infinite continues to use the same type of songs throughout the game. "Old Time Religion" at the start of the game is catchy, yet creepy given the scene, and was a perfect choice. The music intensifies when enemies are present and calms back down once they've all been dispatched, a nice touch if you ask me. Attention to detail here is obvious and Infinite's score rivals that of blockbuster movies. Keep an ear out for the awesome Beach Boys cover, along with Tears For Fears and Cindy Lauper.

Gameplay

At the end of the day, Infinite is an FPS, but adds a twist to the traditional run and gun formula of most games. Vigors (Plasmids), give you special abilities to assist in combat, allowing for multiple strategies when playing. Gameplay mechanics are top-notch, as everything controls very smoothly. Shooting, aiming down the sights, running (finally!), and interacting with the environment work very well and there's not much I could suggest to improve. There have been gameplay changes, many for the good, but others are a toss-up. Some vigors are new, and I found that mostly all of them are fun to use. Skylines are an awesome addition to the series, and really make battles intense and fast paced. I only wish there were more of them throughout the game. This time you can only carry two guns, a strange change akin to other shooters. Puzzles and hacking are gone, as are stockpiling first aid kits and eve. Instead we have a replenishing shield and salts must continually be found to refill your vigors. Are these good or bad changes…I don't really know. However, I was slightly disappointed in some weapon and gear options. Bioshock upgrades physically changed the weapon's appearance, but in Infinite they change nothing. Also, I liked the gun selection better in Bioshock, whereas Infinite seemed to strive for a bit more realism. Also, only four pieces of gear can be worn at a time, and most of them seemed pretty useless. These complaints are minor, but seemed like downgrades.

Campaign/Story

Well…I was hoping the campaign in Infinite would be amazing…and I wasn't disappointed. That's not saying it's completely perfect, but it's pretty freakin' good. You are Booker DeWitt, a man determined to wipe away a debt by rescuing a girl from the floating city of Columbia. I was in awe the first time I saw Columbia, with so many bright and vivid colors, complemented by unique and interesting environments. Due to the outdoor, sunny nature of the game, there isn't quite the intense paranoia feeling that was present in Rapture, but Columbia offers plenty of opportunities for emotional reactions. Shortly after your arrival you find the city is not quite as perfect as it looks, and your true adventure begins. I don't want to spoil anything, but for the first time in years, I wanted to play the game just to figure out how it all would play out. As the campaign progresses, things get weirder and weirder, and the conclusion of Infinite had me standing in front of my TV for a solid five minutes as everything unfolded. It blew my mind. The campaign is driven through interactive cut scenes, along with voxophones. The main "villain", Comstock, is fleshed out well and you'll also get to know many other minor characters. I wish there would have been a few more "bosses" as there were in Bioshock 1, but again, not a big deal. The standard enemies aren't as interesting since they are normal functioning people as opposed to adam injected splicers, but a few enemy variations kept things mixed up. Firemen, The Crow, Patriots, and Handymen will cause you trouble along the way. Despite minor shortcomings, this is one of the best campaigns I've ever played.

Lasting Appeal

Clocking in at roughly 10-15 hours on your first playthrough, Bioshock Infinite is the perfect length for me. I highly recommend you play the game on normal your first time and explore every nook and cranny of Columbia. It's very satisfying to find a hidden wall, decipher a code, or find extra rooms off the beaten path. Due to the nature of its ending, you'll immediately want to fire up a second playthrough when you're done. I played the game through on Normal, Hard, and 1999 mode, and was still finding new things my third time around. Each difficulty also forced me to change my play style, which was fun given the various vigor options. I can't wait for the three installments of single-player DLC that are on the way.

Overall

I will say before I conclude the review that Bioshock 1 is one of my top 5 games of all time. This could mean I have a slight bias when reviewing this title, but honestly, with my expectations sky high before it was released, saying Bioshock Infinite exceeded my expectations is the best complement this game can get. The gameplay mechanics are very well done, and although I hoped for some more minor characters/bosses, this was one of the best games I've played in recent memory. You owe it to yourself to at least play this game once.

I absolutely love fighting games, the Persona series, and Arc System Works, the masterminds behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, so naturally one would think this game would be a smash hit. Technically it is, where in Japan it's become the number one selling fighting game in recent years, and if there's anything to be learned from that it's that fighting games aren't dead, despite the lack of "commercial" accessibility.

Luckily, ASW addresses that issue in Persona 4 Arena, which became almost instantly identifiable when I jumped into Challenge mode with Akihiko. I was expecting a GG or BB control scheme, complete with all sorts of different attacks for a single button that can be performed through simple directional inputs (e.g. 2C, 5C, 6C), which consequently opens the doors to long combo chains. Although that's quite fun, ASW left that system in those games and simplified things considerably here.

And by simplified, I mean that during the early days of this game's cycle you'll probably see a lot of players online spamming Auto Combos, which certainly look impressive and would be more difficult to perform normally, but as you can plainly see by the notation (a string of five A attacks, for example) the combo is pretty braindead. Before you shake your head in dismay, though, remember Marvel also has braindead combos (and characters), and it's a game that's easy to grasp yet hard to master. And as far as impressions go on day one of release, Persona 4 Arena seems that way as well.

Persona 4 Arena looks, plays, and feels in almost every way like an ASW title. It has multiple single player modes, such as a comprehensive tutorial, challenge mode, extremely robust story mode (understatement of the year!), and a training mode with more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at. The SP meter (super meter) is identical to BB, not just in how it's measured but also in how you build it; there is a burst system; you can combo after throws; and you have two Persona normals that feel like a Drive attack in BB. One cool aspect of the Persona attacks, though, is that your Persona has a health bar, too, in the form of four cards which if depleted deactivate it for about 10 seconds. This is huge. Several attacks and combos rely on Personas, and some characters are useless without their Persona. Think of the implications this could have in matches and tournaments.

Despite the heavy ASW flavor so far, Persona 4 Arena's attack buttons aren't as multi-purposed as other titles from the company. As mentioned previously, A, B, C, and D for the most part all have one attack without multi-directional counterparts, which is actually a really nice departure that simplifies combat a lot. There's one weak and one strong attack; one weak and one strong Persona attack; and a sweep performed by hitting down, plus A and B. Simple, right? Another unique feature is Furious Actions, which is just a combination of B and D at the same time. For some characters this is a simple DP (Dragon Punch), for others it's a counter, but what makes it interesting is that it reduces your HP slightly (which auto recovers, though) and usually has significant recovery (but can be used in combos if used properly). All Out Attacks are also somewhat unique, but for the most part feel like modified versions of Dust attacks in GG. This is basically an attack that hits once and sends the opponent spinning backwards allowing you to follow up with a launcher or a "grounder," both of which allow for combos afterward. You simply hit A and B and viola, you have an All Out Attack.

What also makes the game unique is probably the most obvious aspect, and that would be the Persona characters which will immediately guarantee a sale for any diehard Persona fan even if he/she isn't into fighting games. The same trend happened when BlazBlue released in 2009; plenty of anime fans flocked to the game because of its visual aesthetics and elaborate story mode, the latter of which not typically associated as a strong suit for fighting games. The Persona writing staff is luckily on board for this title, though, and with that comes certain expectations in terms of quality and content, which have been exceeded with leaps and bounds as far as I can tell so far, since this is after all a proper sequel to Persona 4.

Despite all this, however, the game's strong suits may be its undoing. As popular as Persona may be, it is still a niche series made even more niche by becoming a fighting game, a pill that gets harder to swallow when you have to master combos and fighting game techniques such as footsies and spacing which can be grueling trials of endurance for a novice player. After story mode has been completed, the sheen might fade and diehard fans might not be compelled to play online despite the numerous tools ASW has provided to make any fight a button mashing affair. Of course, I hope I'm wrong, but we saw it happen to BlazBlue; hopefully, ASW will find a way to keep the game fresh, and the community will find a way to make it relevant because it would be a shame for such a gem to fade into obscurity as countless other amazing games have.

Let me start with a simple statement; I'm a fan of JRPGs, and have never tried to play a fighting game seriously before. While I did enjoy my time with one of Ark System Works' older titles, Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, my number one reason for buying this game is because I'm absolutely in love with the Persona series. Both Persona 3 and 4 rank among my favorite games, and I bought Persona 4 Arena hoping that it would serve as a neat little continuation of Persona 4's story. What I got was completely different.

As someone who bought the game primarily for its story, I can say with certainty that Persona 4 Arena's plot does not disappoint. Rather than serve as a small continuation of Persona 4, Arena's plot utilizes the well-established casts of both Persona 3 and 4 to tell an all new story filled with mystery, twists, and even some heart-wrenching moments. The story on display here is very, very good.

There's definitely more to a fighting game than its story, however, and the game absolutely shines in the gameplay department as well. Being a tad more simplistic than other serious fighting games like Blazblue, Street Fighter, and Tekken, Persona 4 Arena is both more accessible to newcomers than those games, and just as because of its unique game mechanics. While new players will be able to get by using the simple auto-combo the game has, playing online (which plays beautifully, by the way) will force you to learn timing, combos, and how to play mind games using your Persona and character-specific moves. It's an absolute blast to play.

I've been playing the game for hours on end, and still haven't even tried some of the modes yet; even for $60, this game is well worth the price. There's a ton of content that'll keep you occupied for at least 30 hours, and for a fighting game, that's damn impressive.

Arena really is as good as a fighting game can be, in my eyes. A well-sized, balanced list of characters, a stellar story, fantastic gameplay, and an awesome soundtrack all culminate to make an experience you don't want to miss.

Persona 4 Arena overall is a fun and great game. It's a perfect balance of having gameplay mechanics that are friendly to the casuals but it does not take away the competitiveness for the hardcore fighting gamers. A hardcore fighting gamer myself was at first skeptical on how simple the controls, auto-combos, etc. When I poured more hours of the game from local matches to online matches, I not only experienced the competitive flow in many matches but enjoy the game like any ordinary game should make you enjoy. You can still create your own advanced combos, strategies, even modify the button layout to your liking. The game is heavily balanced which makes it all the more fun. I recommend this game to the hardcore fighting gamers, the persona fans of the jrpg series, and I would even recommend this to total casuals. I, a persona and a hardcore fighting gamer approve of this game! Good job Atlus!

Easy to pick up, difficult to master.

I bought this game for my husband. He not only enjoys it as his favorite fighting game engine, but it's actually approachable by a non-fighting-game-player.

The music is phenomenal. The voices are great. The system is smooth and responsive.

The online matches have minimal lag, great connection speeds, and are organized very well.

This game is a classic point and click style video game. Being a gamer in his mid 30's it brings me back to a time when a lot of point and click style adventure games were coming out on the PC.

Point and click translates perfectly on the PS3.

I enjoyed the game a lot, matching DNA sequences, figuring out what substances were in the chem analyzer by figuring out what markers are part of the sample, running prints based off a few reference points and matching them to evidence. I enjoyed all this.

I'm also a CSI fan and this game totally "gets" the feel of the CSI series.

Some of the dialog is a bit drawn out but you can skip any dialog you dont want to hear....i wouldn't suggest rushing though sometimes the dialog gives you hints as to what is next, although it will show up on your PDA too (your in-game cell phone/organizer)

I would gladly buy a CSI2 or a few expansion packs with more cases.

This would be my fourth CSI game so far (I've played all three on DS and the one on PS2) and I'm now pretty much hooked on the game series. Funnily enough, though, I'm still not, nor have I ever been, a fan of the show. In fact, I haven't even seen a single episode of the TV show (although I'm sure it's lovely), so expect this review to judge the game on its own merits and not on it's relationship to the TV show. Anyway, all the previous CSI games have been pretty similar so far, so I'm sure I'm in for a good experience...

Graphics (score 6/10): I can't tell you if the character models really resemble the people they are supposed to be since I've never seen the show, but it turns out that it may not be terribly important... The character models in general look pretty bad for a PS3 game I wouldn't say they were exactly PS2 level, but their darn close to looking that dated. The background environments aren't terribly impressive either. Thankfully, the game is still plenty enjoyable as there is nothing wrong with the graphics that hinders gameplay itself, despite aesthetics.

Music (score 7/10): The music is mostly ambient it's there, but you probably won't really notice it much. As it is, it's pleasant enough and serves it's purpose of keeping the game from being boringly silent. The voice acting is okay not the best I've heard, but okay. I've only noticed one possible audio glitch: occasionally it seems like some of the voices get oddly quiet for no reason. I don't know if it's a glitch or not, but it could be...

Characters (score 7/10): Well, this game doesn't have much by way of characterization. You play as a completely nameless faceless new member of the CSI team (you are never seen and the other characters just speak directly at the screen when talking to "you"), so the playable character isn't really a "character" in the traditional sense. As for the actual characters modeled on cast members, they are present in the game. I'm not sure how bland/interesting the characters' personalities from the show are, but they are pretty bland here. That's what I've come to expect, though; this series is really more focused on the gameplay of immersing you in the world of CSI than it is on characterization (I assume that the game developer's expect you to have previous knowledge about the characters from the TV show).

Story (score 8/10): After having played so many CSI games, I've come to expect the story to be just there enough to keep one interested in solving the case, but nothing more (this certainly isn't Phoenix Wright we're dealing with here...). For the most part, this game falls in line with that expectation. I did notice though, that there is a bit more of a plot thread tying all the cases together (the drug overlord plot thread) than in previous games. After so many games where the cases were pretty unrelated, it's nice to see some kind of overarching story arc present. In fact, I'd say out of all the CSI games I've played, this one has the best story!

Gameplay (score 7/10): This is a bit of a catch-all category for me. First off, I'd like to talk about the nearly useless "tutorial" descriptions that you can turn on and off. When I first started the game, I turned the tutorial on thinking that it would be helpful. Well, that really wasn't the case. The tutorial always tells you (in a really irritating over-chipper voice) the most inane and obvious things ("the evidence button selects evidence" yeah, thanks for that.). Sadly, I had a true moment of confusion at the beginning of the game when I didn't realize that you could select multiple chemical scans to match your chemical sample, but the tutorial never bothers to tell you that! I think I'll be switching that tutorial off. It's really only helpful to someone with absolutely no experience with the CSI game series and possibly no experience with video games in general. As for the actual gameplay, it's fairly straightforward point-and-click type stuff: talking to people, searching crime scenes, and running tests in the lab. For the most part the point-and-click interface works fine, although I wish the pointer moved a tad faster. Oh well, better too slow than too fast anyway... As for the lab gameplay, it's mostly matching colored shapes and line patterns and stuff in order to do DNA tests and whatnot. None of it is too difficult. I rather like this game series because it tends to be very forgiving in the difficulty, and sometimes I need a bit of relaxation in my life. The game is especially kind in giving you checkmarks when you've found all the clues in an area or finished everything that can be done with an item (usually, I've noticed the checks are wrong a couple times). This prevents needless wandering and backtracking. There is also a lovely hint system that you can turn onto "low", "medium", or "high" that basically consists of Catherine sending you emails to give you reminders on what to do next. That's rather nice. Well, that's about it for gameplay. There is one last thing I'd like to talk about: product placement. I don't normally mind product placement because I understand that companies need funding and stuff. It just bugs me when it's so intrusive. The darn Trend Micro antivirus thing scans the computers at the beginning of each new case before you can use them in the data lab to no point or purpose. I mean, there's product placement that doesn't hurt anyone (such as all the Asus branded PCs present which I didn't mind at all), and then there's annoying and intrusive. Well, at least it didn't pop up ALL the time...

Overall (score 7/10): NOTE this score is not an average; it's my subjective overall score. Well, I enjoyed this one just as much as the other CSI games I've played (with the exception of CSI: Dark Motives, which is considerably worse). I'd recommend it to fans of the show or the game series, or fans of point and click adventure games in general (if you like crime investigation sort of games). I must warn people though, that just because this entry is on the PS3 does not mean it's any longer than any of the DS entries. In fact, it's about 20 hours long, so don't spend an excessive amount of money on it. Well, that's about it. I look forward to future CSI games!

Got this because my wife like CSI but not the PS3 and she would play this with me. Its not a bad game, my wife who doesn't play video games enjoyed it and it was something we did together.

PROS: 5 Stories and it takes some time to gather clues. Plots are decent and are like the show.

CONS: The first 2 stories are OK but it gets to be the same thing over and over again. Gets very repetitive after a while. For a PS3 game the graphics leave a lot to be desired. Could've been a little more imaginative with graphics and clues.

Buy the game if you like the show, if you're not a fan of the show, there are definitely better role playing games.

I was hoping that this game would be great, but it is very disappointing. Since I'm older than most gamers, and also enjoy The History Channel, I thought this game would be at least very good to me. It's not. It's medicore at best, and a disappointing effort from Activision and The History Channel. The game sounds good on paper. You get to take part in some of the most famous battle of The Civil War, along with some historical information from The History Channel to send you on your way. It just doesn't work. You get a few sentences, and then sent on your way. When the mission is complete, you pretty much get nothing other than a stat screen. As for the features of the game, the graphics are nothing special. The music and narrative are very repetitive, and get old fast. The gameplay is frustrating. There is no multiplayer, and the solo missions get old fast. I give the game 3 stars only because I'm a history buff. Otherwise it's much closer to 2 stars.

For those who did not like "A Nation Divided" I would recomend you give this a try. Although it has the some of the makings of the first game it has much more depth of environment. The outdoor environments are impressive. Gameplay is linear but you have the option in some cases to flank your opponent and approach from a different angle. Another addition to this game is the rank system. As you complete missions and kill more enemies you rank up and get skill points you can use to improve your gameplay. I have this game for PS3 and I think it is much better than the first one. Anyone who likes FPS's and the American Civil War will like this game.

The product is a great idea and it has come a long way since simple rapid fire. The problem is that Black Ops 2 multiplayer will catch you and you will instantly get an update message. Once you have applied the update (or turned the game off and on again), you will be playing with some of the worst cheaters known, I have seen wall hacks, aimbots and a cheat that appears to be a permanent orbital vsat. If you are looking for a little advantage over your opponents, this is not going to help you at all.

Overall, the controller is great. You can program different rapid fire rates easily, you can turn off all mods very quickly. It feels almost identical to the stock Sony controller and the buttons and pads have excellent grip. You just have to be careful what game you use it on or you could take a Master Prestige account and ruin it.

The GeniusMods web site claims that the controller is undetectable, this is probably true but I think Treyarch is wise to the fact that consistently hitting your R1 button 20 times in a single second is probably not possible without a modded controller.

The GeniusMods web site (FAQ page) states ...

Q: Can I get in trouble, or banned for using modded controllers? Is it illegal?

A: Not at all – the only thing you can get banned for or in trouble for is if you mod your Xbox 360 console. Controller modifications are perfectly legal.

However, here is what Treyarch says ...

Any user who utilizes an unsupported external hardware device or application to interact with the game is subject to penalty. Unsupported peripheral devices and applications include but are not limited to modded controllers, IP flooders and lag switches.

I gave this controller 2/5 because it says that it is designed for Black Ops 2 (the only game that I play) and it is basically worthless to me. Shortly after trying out this this controller, I boxed up my entire Playstation system and plan to sell it all.

The first time I put the game in my husband kept asking me if I liked it or not, and I kept saying, "I don't know..." But I kept on playing it. I can't put my finger on it but I'm not "in love" with the game yet I keep going back to it. Sometimes we get a game that's gorgeous, addictive, and makes us think, yeah these guys get gamers! Sometimes we get a game that is so well-designed and developed that it changes our lives. Sometimes we get a game like this: it's not perfect or ground-breaking but it's simplified enough to be fun on the first play and that says a lot, especially when most games I buy tend to have 30 minutes worth of back story and an unnecessary system of tutorials before I can really sink my teeth into them or unlock all the cool stuff (Crysis2, MGS4, LOS, FF!!!) Sometimes I just want to play! And playing this game is smooth... (except that I died every battle the first few hours on hardcore). I get quite a few nifty attacks/spells to start, there are no ridiculous load times, no lag when moving around, dialog is quick. But it definitely grows on you the more you play: the story/setting, the characters, the combat system... Like everything Square Enix does, it's kinda cute. I enjoy the steampunk alternate reality flavor. Combat is awesome once you understand the basic rules. Button-mashing isn't going to work every time in this game, and I'm glad because I'd hate to do that to my $60 controller. Anyway, I was looking for an RPG with a little more hacking and a little less drama/politics/schmoozing after beating Dragon Age 2 5 times (huge disappointment, finally had to retire that game) and while waiting for Skyrim (hopefully one of said life-changing games) to come out, and Dungeon Siege 3 seems to satisfy my evil-doer-slaying urges quite well for now. On any console or even PC, every single RPG title isn't phenomenal, sometimes we get games that are cool, all right or even some that we downright love to hate, but if you like RPG's, you have a PS3, you like killing bad guys and you like fantasy settings you WILL like this game. I imagine it will be fun online once everyone has leveled all of the 4 playable characters... But I don't play online so that doesn't matter. Jump-in co-op is pretty sweet though and how many RPG's on PS3 have that option? Exactly. Reviews for it have been harsh, so harsh in fact that I was afraid to pre-order, but I'm glad I did. I'd say I got what I wanted. I don't think about this game when I go to sleep at night but that's a good thing. Besides, sometimes it's fun not being on the bandwagon. I have a lot of games that got really high scores that I never play... Heavy Rain WTFrak?!!! Overall, it's certainly not a "rental" and I would NOT sell it or even let anyone borrow it at this time. I think that says something...

I've beaten this game four times, thus I've played using all four characters, including one with normal difficulty level. I am currently playing the fifth time on hard difficulty level. Maybe it deserves a new review.

New game play experience:

1. I find background music helps the game be more engaging.

2. Each character has its own pros and cons, thus you need to understand them by trial and error, and develop different gameplay strategy.

3. Overall, when dealing with your enemies, you are "hit and run". The more difficult the game level, the more running you will do.

4. There are different defensive choices, but I find myself using the hp regen all the time, so don't waste your upgrade on any other defensive strategies.

5. Regular blocking is good enough even at hard difficulty level, so no need to have those fancy defensive moves, save your upgrade for offensive moves.

6. Since you must have companion, you can experiment on your companions with different upgrade, thus find the optimal combination before you choose that character.

Still very annoying features:

1. With exception of the very last merchant, you get powerful weapons by killing your enemies than from buying them. I only buy rings from merchants.

2. Non-boss enemies and chests are dropping useless weapons. Good for selling them for trophy or achievement.

3. The game is still way too short compare to similar games like God of Wars or Diablo.

4. Hate to repeat this, but this is the most annoying part, even with powerful weapon, I am still doing rolling and running. That's the theme, and that's the only moves you will ever do in this game.

Sorry, still three stars.

Local Co-Op mode (which is why I bought it) ties you into a top-down camera angle that makes the gameplay very frustrating. I'm a pretty hard-core RPG Co-Op gamer. My husband and I play marathons whenever we find reasonably worthy co-op games we can play together. We were very excited about this, but it feels like you are walking around in a world where your head is permanently bent down at a 60-degree angle. A less than stellar map feature makes it hard enough without being unable to see ahead more than about 20 feet. Plus you are zoomed out far enough that you never really get to see your character, your partner or any of the cool gear you are dawning. It's a little like the old Diablo days where you find your character in a battle by the color of the battle circle around it's feet. Plus the voicing is horrible. The main game characters are fairly badly acted, but the worst part is that Anjali (who I played) is COMPUTER VOICED. I've been having to pretend in my mind that she's an android so that it bugs me less to hear hear computer inflections when talking to the other characters. It's horrible.

A few things make the game kinda fun & novel. And I'm compulsive about games so I know I'll finish it. But geeeezzze! If you get it start with low expectations and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. Just don't by the hype that it's going to be the next best local co-op game to play with your friends, cuz you'll be disappointed.

I have had this game for about three weeks now and have around twenty hours played in it. I had read some reviews that stated the game was short if you bypassed the side quests and went straight for the big finish. So this was a concern for me as I didn't want a game as short as Killzone 2 was.

Happily the length of the game is dependent on how thorough you want to be on your play through. I like to look in nooks and crannies to find hidden items and the like. So if you just play the game to beat it, ya, it might be a little on the short side.

Onto the gameplay itself. If you play this and think of Diablo or any other hack and slash, I think it's a good thing. I find the straight forward style of these types of games addictive. I'm glad to see it isn't overly complex or intricate. Find your enemy and smash him with weapons or fry'em with magic.

And when you do this you gain XP to level your character. Leveling opens options to select skills, nearly all are activated. Some are abilities for attack some are for healing and defense. Then when you chose your skills you can choose from talents that refine these chosen skills. For example, you can add a percent to stun chance on your particular attack skill. You also get passive abilities that grant you more damage based on particular stats. Some give you enhanced critical chances or increased critical damage bonuses.

These are nice tweaks for your character, but after a while I got the sense they were somewhat watered down. Not overly powerful or game breaking. Not that you need over the top abilities, but something to give your character a more "unique" feeling.

I had also read in reviews some thought the gear you obtained through quests and chests are all you may need to finish the game. And that might be true, but that's half the fun of the game, isn't it? To acquire gear and see the shinny stuff on your character. I found buying rare items and high end weapons helped my game play. Again, it's a game meant to enjoy, not play as some sort of laborious task.

You are also paired up with an NPC you meet along the way, I have met two thus far. The NPC levels the same as your main character and you put points into their talents and abilities the same as your own.

So, if you are looking for a straight forward hack 'n slash style RPG, this is a good one. Not great, but it has a story to draw you in, enough action to keep you playing and the boss fights are just right. Not too hard and not too easy. I do wish it was a little bit deeper on character development and that the world was a bit more open. It reminded me of playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed I. Where you just walk a path and really can't go too far from it. It just feels as if you are being funneled and not allowed to explore.

Definitely an above average game all around though and worth picking up.

I have read some "less than honest" reviews about this game here on Amazon. Once again, when there are less than 30 reviews or so, Amazon reviews cannot be trusted. Go with the reviews from sites like Gamestop. The good things about this game that stand out are:

1.) It is not overly linear as some have mistakenly claimed. I suppose when compared to Oblivion this might be said, but when compared to Champions or BGDA this game is not so linear.

2.) Leveling up,proficiencies, and abilities, are not clearly explained or represented. But some of the fun is figuring it out. What an abominable mess Sacred 2 was in this regard.

3.) A lot of reviews say this game has little story. This is completely false. Frankly I have been surprised and drawn in by the story and I can see the effort that has been made to weave both the lore and the narrative. For me it is clearly superior to Dragon Age Origins in this respect (DAO has a similar system).

4.) It is fun to play with a friend and the fun increases as you progress and understand the games attributes.

5.) The graphics are a little dark but overall acceptable. I much prefer this style to the graphics found in either Sacred 2 or Hunted: Demon's Forge.

6.) Lots of save points and multiple saves allowed.

7.)Three difficulty levels that can be changed on the fly.

8.) The Quest locator system and the ability to "choose" the quest you wish to work on.

9.)Lots of decent voice acting-avoiding the text avalanche in small font from Sacred 2 or the inane drivel of the DAO lore.

10.)It does not take an advanced degree in Bio-Mechanics to master the control functions.

11.)One of the previous "reviews" says you cannot tell which character can use a weapon. This is not true--an icon of your character is clearly visible on the items you can use.

Some not so good things about this game:

1.)The second player is hamstrung in some ways. Saving, interacting with NPC's, personal item inventory are all negatives.

2.) The ability to individualize your character is minimal. The leveling up and experience accumulation are simplistic and rigid. In multiplayer you don't have unique experience.

3.)Dark and muted landscapes and enemies--at times. Nothing that approaches the unplayable tiny graphics of Sacred 2 but still not as crisp as I would like.

4.)Limited multiplayerI would have liked 3 player local capability. This could have easily been done considering all the ways they dumbed down the 2nd player.

5.)Sometimes it is a little bit too much button mashing versus strategy.

In summary:

-Not as good as the CON series. Not enough length or individuality with a crippled multiplayer.

-Way better than Sacred 2 (A game I wanted to like).

-Better than Dungeon Hunter Alliance (The voice acting, Quest system, and story are superior).

-Better than Hunted:The Demon's Forge.

-Multiplayer is flawed but usable.

I like this game because it has the quality that it can be "savored as you play" despite its' faults. Not a home run but certainly a base hit.
