I bought this around a year ago thinking I'd be getting a head start on a great lost planet spin off, turns out capcom didn't have the sense to localize this stateside. This game was great fun, solid gameplay that put lost planet 2 to shame. A great weapon modification system adds to replayability and a visual novel style that rivals Jet Set Radio. I Highly recommend this game.

If the screens for Get Fit with Mel B look familiar, it's for good reason. The game was developed by a company called Lightning Fish, which also happened to develop a game for the Wii called "New U Fitness" in the UK, where it was pretty well received (in a boneheaded marketing move, the same game was re-released in the US under the name "My Fitness Coach 2: Exercise and Nutrition"--you can read about why this was a boneheaded move under my review for that product).

The Wii game was not as bad as the reviews would indicate. It had a snazzy, three-dimensional opening menu, and you could choose on-screen instructors to lead you through a variety of basic calisthenics exercises (sit-ups, lunges, etc.). You could choose either individual exercises or have the system prepare a daily workout that combined different exercises based on your fitness goals. It had the typical bells and whistles of a Wii workout game such as allowing you to change your background scenery.

My initial impression of Get Fit with Mel B is that it's pretty much the same game as New U Fitness, just updated for the PS3. The premise of the game is more or less identical to My Fitness Coach 2 and in fact, so are the menu options:

The opening menu options are:

Today's Workout:

When you set up your profile, you can identify up to two fitness goals under the categories of General Health (weight loss, detox, lower cholesterol), Lifestyle (e.g. "Destress"), Special Occasions (e.g., new mom/dad, getting ready for the holidays), Sports and Activity training, and working on specific parts of your body. The system will automatically put together a daily 30-minute regimen of exercises that will target these goals.

Choose Workout:

Here, you can drill down to the specific exercises that you want. Exercises are broken into two categories: Fitness and Aerobics. Fitness exercises include things like crunches, squats, lunges, etc. You typically do them in reps of 10-20 before going onto the next exercise. For aerobics exercises, you can choose from a series of dance moves, boxing moves, or cardio moves.

There's also a "custom workout" option which lets you put together your own string of exercises (selecting exercises and defining the number of reps for each), a "practice" option which lets you practice certain exercises as many times as you like (anywhere from 4 to 96 reps), and a neat "challenges" option where you're pushed to complete a series of themed exercises (dance exercises, abs exercises, leg exercises, boxing exercises, and cardio exercises) within a certain amount of time.

Your Progress:

This section allows you to track your workout progress. One thing the Wii has that the PS3 doesn't is a balance board which will automatically chart your weight. So it's time to dust off that bathroom scale.

Nutrition:

I never quite understood the concept of having recipes on a video game. I get that they want to provide a "holistic workout regimen" that involves proper diet, but on the other hand, not many people have their TVs set up in their kitchen or a printer hooked up to their video game console.

There were a couple things about Get Fit with Mel B, that I really liked:

1) The game makes excellent use of video. You first get a hint of this when you seeing a video image of yourself under "Your Progress" in the opening menu options. To start, you first calibrate your video image (basically stand in front of the camera and let it scan you). As you start your exercises you'll see two exercise mats, the left one with a video image of Mel B (it's really her, not a creepy cartoon rendering), and the right one with--you! Your video image is actually superimposed on the screen! As Mel B does the exercises, you can match her movements and timing exactly, step by step, arm movement by arm movement. It's a vast improvement over the "do the mirror image of my movements" you find in Wii exercise games.

2) The scenery is breathtaking. Granted, when compared to other PS3 games it's probably not that impressive, and it's really just used as a backdrop (there's no interaction with the scenery). But for someone used to enduring choppy and cartoony Wii background scenery I was impressed. The first scene I chose was the "City Apartment", which was a window overlooking a city skyline. You can also choose to work out in a park, on a dock by the bay, at a poolside, in a forest meadow, and on a luxury yacht.

3) The array of individual exercises is impressive. There are 22 basic fitness exercises, but 15 dance exercises, 20 boxing exercises, 14 cardio exercises, and 14 advanced cardio exercises. Put them together in different orders with different amounts of reps, and you'll have a pretty good variety of workouts.

4) You can choose to work out using your own equipment, including an aerobics step, a fitball, a resistance band, wrist weights, and ankle weights.

Annoyances:

1) While other games say that you need to be at least 8 feet from the camera, most of the time you can get away with being 5-6 feet away. Not so with this game. Anything less than 8 feet and your video image will not appear on the screen properly.

2) For a lot of exercises, it simply doesn't make sense to have the Move controller tracking your moves. For standing exercises like squats, lunges, and jumping jacks it's great. But for exercises like push-ups and crunches it just doesn't make sense.

3) The game doesn't use the Playstation Move XMB navigation. I'll chalk this up to the developers not knowing about it, being an early release title. Still, it gets annoying having to point a cursor and click when every other Move game lets you hold down the trigger button and move the controller to navigate. Worse, you can't even use an available Dualshock or Sixaxis controller to control menu options.

4) This is an annoyance I don't think the game developers could have done anything about, but when performing exercises that require you to be on the floor, it's very tough on the neck to look up at the TV screen to follow the moves. Perhaps a little more audio guidance during these exercises would help.

5) In general, while the motion controls were a step above what you could find on the Wii, I didn't get the sense that they made full use of the Move's capabilities (generally, as long as there was ANY motion, it registered on the screen).

6) Tiny annoyance, but it seems the game developers forgot to convert certain screens for an American audience. When you first input your birthday, it took me a while to figure out that it was in "day-month-year" format versus "month-day-year". And what the heck is a "gram" or "milliliter" in the recipes section? :)

This has all the bearings of a game which is pretty well made for a first-generation title, but may not stand the test of time as newer and more innovative games come out. Still, for someone looking for a "pure" exercise game, it's not a bad choice. The ability to see your own actual video image next to Mel B is not just cool--there's no better way to help you visualize and time the exercise, particular for aerobics exercises. And the scenery is definitely beautiful and head-and-shoulders improved over what you'd see on a Wii. That, plus the fact that this is the first attempt at any fitness game for the PS3, gets it a solid 4 stars from me.

For "fun", I'll give it 2 stars, as at the end of the day it's still just a glorified exercise DVD, which I don't find particularly fun. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I hope as game developers produce more fitness titles for the PS3, that they can introduce more "gaming" elements to make workouts a lot more immersive and fun.

Today was my first workout so i don't have TOO much experience with this game but here's what i think so far:

Pros:

-you definitely feel like you're working out (i was sweaty at the end)

-you can set the amount of time you want to work out for

-there's no pauses between workouts

-the workouts are fun, for the most part

-you can set up the game to use certain workout equipment (if you have any)

-you can specify one or two goals you want (like slimming down, improving health, etc)

Cons:

-i live in an apartment building and the game requires lots of jumping

-some of the workouts were confusing and there's no real explanation of what to do

-sometimes, the image on the screen of you doesn't show up properly

-you really need the full 8 feet (or maybe even more) to use this. I have almost exactly 8 feet and the move camera didn't "see" me at times

I was super excited to get the game, after 4 workouts I am not so thrilled about it. It is getting frustrating really fast. Here are the issues I have encountered so far:

1. Each set of exercises is limited to 15 min and then you repeat the set for the total of 30 min. To me this is kind of annoying, because you go through standing exercises, ball, weights, floor and then all over again, so certain amount of time is lost and you cool down while getting weights on and off and so on.

2. The move controler is impossible to calibrate correctly or there is a bug in the software. If it is fine for one exercise it is not calibrated for the next one. I've contacted Deep Silver and was told that it is an issue with my set up and that they've never heard of a problem with the controller not registering the exercise. It will register movements completely randomly. When I press select button to calibrate it, it will show that the controller is not calibrated and recalibrate it again. Honestly, that happens around 10 times during 45 min workout that has a lot of movement in (dance, kickboxing) and it is very frustrating. Very. After working out for over a week, I am thinking that maybe it is related to me jumping and so on, which makes the floor vibrate and somehow shifts the eye? That is the only reason I can come up with, but I will keep trying to solve this.

3. It won't allow to make up reps. For example, if I miss a move for whatever reason (the controller doesn't register) I am still a move or two (or more) behind Mel, even though I am doing 2 reps for one of hers, so impossible to catch up.

4. The custom workout is limited to 15 exercises only. I haven't been able to save my custom workouts, so I have to choose the exercises every time not really helpful when you are trying to vary and cover all muscle groups.

5. The time limit supercedes the reps. On two occassions at the end of the active workout it cut the last exercise half way (right side only). I'd rather finish the rep than be in the exact 30 min.

6. The "encouragement/guidance?" part gets annoying fast. If you are doing 16 lunges, during the last 5-6 you hear "get your legs wider" or something to that effect at every single lunge. Or during the dance part :Now you are getting it :)

7. There is a gauge that measures your accuracy or how well you are performing the exercise and it affects your score at the end. From my experience so far I have no idea how to works. I can do the exercise really well and get 50% or I can just wave the controller and get 97%. The visual and verbal cues are completely off. For example on the chest fly when you hear "down" her arms are actually up so if you follow the verbal cues you will be off.

8. The warm up and cool down are the same every time. I am ok with the warm up, but with the cool down more stretches and variety would be great.

9. The challenges section: you get one of each (dance, legs of steel, cardio) I was hoping that it will be challenges, like in the other games, you pass one and there is a harder one waiting for you, at least couple of different levels would be nice.

This is what I've noticed so far. The only positive I can see right now is that despite all the issues I am exercising, which is obviously better than doing nothing. I wish the developers have spent more time on the exercise portion I don't see any point in the recipe part. As another reviewer mentioned, probably no one has a PS3 in the kitchen.

Every gamers have different tastes. I just want to say this game is not as complicated as you think it is. I has been a body-builder for 12 years. This game is very easy to get use to it if you has experienced in fitness with personal trainer. My wife loves the game, at first, she was having rough time it is all because she never experience fitness with personal trainer in her life but things have changed she truly enjoys it. When I gave my first try, it was easy for me but what impressed me the most, I can feel muscles and body cooling. This game is some serious workout! I been testing this game for while, I been having this game for at least a month before I made my personal honest review.

Pros:

* It is very easy to create a profile.

* It is very easy to follow instructions, if you need help or explanation, you can always use a guides or tutorials that will show you how to work out the right way in the game! If you don't understand the trainer, you can always use subtitle as an option which I am hard of hearing myself.

* Calibrating the camera and the move is not really that hard like everyone experienced, like I said every gamers have their own tastes.

* It is fun, electrifying, it entertaining, and wonderful piece of game for anyone who wants to workout for shapes, healthy body, energy, stress relieve and making lifestyle better.

*Dance Mode

* Nice Musics

* Good Picture Quality

* Serious workout

Cons:

There aren't no cons in the game, it just people doesn't spend enough time to go through the whole game and settings to figure everything out.

Why skip a manual book and straight to gaming after feeling there was a con?

* Meal plan option was not as confusing it is, all it saying what we can eat for a day.

Things you need to know:

*Avoid Bright Light/Light Windows in the background because it will make the PS Eye will see it as overexposures.

* Tracking the body perfectly done in about 6-9 feet.

* You do not always have to hold the move for the whole time when you work out, you can place the Move anyway near you for the camera can show your body on the screen just like the Kinect. The Move's light ball will keep the camera tracking your body.

"People, Don't be afraid to buy this game if you are looking for a decent game to help your fitness! Buy it and Enjoy it! Trust in Me, it worth the Pennies!!"

I would rated this game 4.5 out of 5

My few complaints: i needed more time than she did to get down and up off the floor, so i had to pause the game for that (getting faster now). Also, I have to move the camera to point down and see me do floor work, to get a good score and keep progressing in difficulty. Lastly, I wish there were more background scenery options.

What I love: The variety. The main challenge with exercise is to keep things interesting. After changing around the personal goal settings, I finally settled on 50% overall body toning / 50% thighs/abs/tummy. This gives me great toning workouts which i do M,W,F, with intervals on the treadmill on the alternating days. I just turn on the game in the morning and she's got a new lineup for me to try.

The PS3 Move: I really like the camera putting you up there on the screen. I've got felt-footed furniture and a hard floor, I just scoot everything out of the way, learned how to adjust the camera just right, and I usually get great feedback for most of the game.

I've been on a buying spree with workout games lately, and, once I narrowed down the personal goal settings that worked for me, this one is my favorite, more than EA Active 2, Zumba, Gold's Gym Dance... Just Dance and Just Dance 2 are in a league of their own for really fun (and sweaty!) cardio IF i can get both my daughters playing with/against me.

I don't use the Nutrition thing on this or any of my games. I follow South Beach.

I might have been the harshest critic of the new direction Crystal Dynamics decided to take "Tomb Raider." There are several angry posts to my name across the web, talking about why this game would fail, and how it was a desecration to the franchise. After all, I grew up with Lara's series, and in fact, "Tomb Raider II" was the first video game I ever played. To this day, I thought that this would be a simplification of the timeless series, and a desperate attempt to make the series fit in with newcomers. Thankfully, I have been proven wrong. "Tomb Raider" is one of the venerable heroine's finest outings, and possibly the best action game since "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves."

We begin with Lara being trapped on an island, searching for her friends and being pursued by a menacing cult. But this isn't the cocky, oddly-proportioned character we're used to; this is before her official tomb raiding days, and the first major expedition she sets out on. As such, she is inexperienced and vulnerable, and the game chronicles her ascension from scared teen to powerful warrior. Now, you might think the trailers give away the plot, but you'd be dead wrong. The story is every bit as strange and wonderful as some of the earlier games, containing unpredictable twists and surprising supernatural elements. It would be a crime to spoil it, but let's just that fans of the old games need not worry; Crystal Dynamics (developers of Legend through Underworld) still know what this franchise is all about, narrative-wise, and they hit the nail right on the head.

Special props should go to Rihanna Pratchett, writer of the woefully underrated "Heavenly Sword", for making Lara into one of the most empowering female role models ever crafted. Even in her weakest states, she is never a victim, always resourceful and one step ahead of everyone else. Through the story, we see her learn from mistakes, and turn into what we typically think of as Lara Croft. Special little nods the series' roots, right down to the origin of her signature silver pistols, add in flavor to her character, and turn into a much deeper protagonist than she has ever been. Even as somebody who loves the old character, I must say that Pratchett has actually made me prefer this interpretation of her. Full-speed ahead with this new Lara, I say; she's smart, cheeky, and powerful, which is exactly what she's supposed to be.

Fans' biggest concern about this new entry, however, was undoubtedly the gameplay. The seemingly liberal inclusion of Quick Time Events, and the deceptively linear design of showcased levels both indicated an unwelcome change. However, it turns out we were only drip-fed bits and pieces of different levels. The game itself is an entirely different matter, because it is teeming with as many secrets as the old games, if not more. While it is easy to simply follow the set path, there are numerous alternate routes to pursue in search of loot, and even entire optional tombs. These tombs are more in line with the classic puzzles we're used to, fun little mind teasers that are a great distraction for old-school fans. Whether you want to get to the point or indulge in some side quests, this game has got you covered.

As far as the gameplay itself is concerned, Crystal Dynamics has unquestionably changed the formula for the better. Platforming is now much more tight and urgent than ever before, requiring the precision fans are used to. While it is significantly easier than past entries, the sheer creativity that went into the dynamic set pieces more than make up for it, and it isn't necessarily as streamlined as the demos make it seem. Attention still must be paid at all time, and once you get past the initial 2 to 3 hours, the game stops holding your hand and expects you to dive head-first into somewhat tricky platforming, fully prepared to punish you with brutal deaths if you fail.

The biggest overhaul by far, though, is in the combat department. Now, even as a fan of the series, combat in "Tomb Raider" has always... well, it's always kind of sucked. Even the improvements in Legend couldn't quite find a way to balance platforming and shooting up enemies. However, the developers have learned from their mistakes, creating a seamless blend of platforming and TPS mechanics that must be played to be believed. There's also a leveling component that really makes or breaks the combat; your survival is dependent on scrounging for salvage and strengthening your weapons. Most games mess this mechanic up pretty badly with upgrades that are seemingly meaningless, but this is pleasantly a whole different bag altogether.

Even more impressive is how important each weapon is, some being required to solve puzzles and progress the game. My personal favorite is the bow, which can be used as a distraction, a stealth weapon, a capable frontal assault companion, or a key to burning open pathways. Oh, yes, and it can be used to choke enemies from behind. This is just one example of the versatility weapons have in this game. Heck, even the climbing axe ends up becoming a lethal tool of destruction...

Graphically, the game excels. While some may argue that the rendering power is not on par with some other AAA titles around today, it only takes one look at the brilliant art direction to sway non-believers. The mysterious island and all of its secrets are a marvel to behold, a mixture of jungle, forest, and even desert-esque canyons. Shanty towns and elaborate Asian temples alike comprise the architecture of the island, and ominous tunnels range from wet rock to a disgusting river of blood and corpses. The key word here is "variety", really, as most locations tend to not look the same one bit. Older entries had to span multiple countries in order to convey a sense of changed locale, but this time around, they only needed one island to create a living, breathing world. It's a wonder to behold, and one of the most unforgettable video game environments ever crafted.

Soundscapes are another strong point here. The background noise is convincing, with the caws of birds seemingly surrounding you, and the distant war cries of enemies preparing you for battle. You'll always be sucked right into the action, regardless of the situation. Ditto for the score, which is surprisingly similar to the early games; it's tense and dramatic, but always has an element of mystique to it. It is one of the rare video game soundtracks that doesn't simply blend in, but stands out and demands you pay attention to it.

The new voice of Lara is also wonderful, and I daresay the best portrayal done yet. Sure, we see the frightened and timid girl advertisements seem to highlight, but we get hints of what is to come with the character. Moments of wry sarcasm between her and her shipmates, as well as her cheeky observations and bold proclamations of assault on her enemies, are pure 90's "Tomb Raider." The game lets you know what to expect in future entries, and this is due in large part to this fantastic performance. Kudos to Camilla Luddington for a performance which is sure to be lavished with awards in the coming months.

As mentioned above, I was a complete non-believer with this entry. I feared that one of my favorite franchises was cashing in on cheap gameplay mechanics and a weak plot, while shedding what old-school fans adored about the games in the first place. Luckily, I was proven to be a complete fool. Square Enix has released a game that not only reminds me why I fell for Lara and her exploits, but why I love video games as well. The story is a brilliant tour-de-force, the gameplay is perfect, it's a feast for the eyes and ears, and the protagonist is one of the best in a very long time. Everything about this game, from top to bottom, is positively flawless. There is not a single ill word I can speak of the game, whatsoever.

Filled with enough nods to the series' history to satiate diehards, but with enough innovation to snag newcomers, this is a game that shows Crystal Dynamics is the perfect developer for this household name series. "Tomb Raider" is an instant classic, and should be a benchmark for which all future action games are played. It is utterly perfect on every possible level, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I've never spent much time playing the "Tomb Raider" series, but this reboot did all the right things, and it drew me right in. This modern take on the famous franchise takes inspiration from many great sourcesmy first impression, oddly enough, was of "Resident Evil 4" (a classic so significant, it's still influencing the gaming landscape). The early goings of "Tomb Raider" have a distinctly "survival horror" vibe that is masterfully conveyed, interspersed with just the right amounts of Quick Time Events, cinematic showpieces, character development, story telling, and gameplay tutorials. Additionally, it reminded me of the fantastic island of the TV show, "Lost" (complete with freaky natives and bunkers!).

The most striking comparison, of course, is that of the "Uncharted" series. "Tomb Raider" obviously existed long before "Uncharted", but it's equally obvious that it drew inspiration from the mechanics of climbing, combat, and cinematic storytelling of one of this generation's most successful series. And I'm not complaining at allI wish there were more games like "Uncharted"! For the most part, "Tomb Raider" does a fantastic job implementing these elements, resulting in a game that is a blast to play and easy to pick up. Everything is very responsive, the settings are visually vibrant and interesting, and the island is begging for more thorough searching. The inclusion of TONS of unlockables is a genius notion, including documents (which help to further unfurl the mystery of the island), artifacts, and salvage (for weapon and gear upgrades), and it means crazy amounts of replay value... plus the online multiplayer aspect, if that strikes your fancy.

The only thing holding "Tomb Raider" back from five stars is that when pitted up against the unrivaled production values of "Uncharted", it falls a shade short. The characters are noticeably lacking compared to the likes of Nathan, Sully, and Elena, and the presentation just seems a bit "off". There's such an emphasis placed on (literal and figurative) darkness and grittiness, I oftentimes had difficulty seeing what was going on around my character, and it actually had something of a demoralizing effect (particlarly when compared to the bright, tropical locales of "Uncharted"). That's not to say that "Tomb Raider" is a bad gameit's not. In reality, it's a very good gameit's just not among my top favorites.

Final note (MINOR spoilers follow): The producers of this game must be huge fans of the movie "The Descent", for there are many nods to the horror film, including Lara's affinity for the climbing axe, the "bone scramble" toward daylight in the opening moments, and the slow emergence from the red pool of ichor in "the pit". Additionally, Lara's psychological transformation closely mirrors that of "The Descent"'s protagonist. It was an excellent source to draw inspiration from, and the developers of "Tomb Raider" did a fine job of subtly paying homage to it.

First off, let me say that this game is a blast and I had a great time playing it. I have played almost all the TR games since the original in 1996. Also, I understand why the game received an "M" rating--the blood, gore, and language park it clearly in that category. My question is, why did Crystal Dynamics design this game with M-rated content when virtually all the other TR games were "T"? TR Underworld, the last installment in the series, was rated T16+. I have a pre teen daughter who loves Lara's character. For parents who take ratings seriously, they have blocked out a whole group of gamers who would love to play the game and experience Lara's origins. I know-and the developers know this of course--that teens will play the game anyway. While I have only played through about a quarter of it, I have gotten a good feel for the spirit of the game and for me, the "M" content--namely the added gore and the occasional "F bombs"--did not factor in how I experience the game. In fact, the factors that push the game into the "M zone" seem more like forced additions. While I am no marketing expert, I wonder why Crystal dynamics chose to go in this direction. The Uncharted games are all "T" and they are intense, thrilling games. Perhaps the creators of this new Tomb Raider want to distinguish this game from Uncharted and creat their own unique nitch instead of being labeled as "Uncharted 4." Comparing it to a movie, I would consider "M" the equivalent of an "R" rating. If it were a movie, I think a story like TR, with a young heroine trapped on an island, exploring tombs and fighting off bad guys, would be taylored toward a PG-13, not an R. I regret that the developers of the new TR decided to go in this direction as the game would have been just as fun with a "T" rating and would have been open to a teen audience which would really enjoy Lara's story.

Just to be clear, I am not offended by the game's content. In fact, it's becuase I like the game so much, that I've decided to write this review. I have played and enjoyed plenty of M rated games. It just seems that this great story of a young girl, barely older than a teen herself, being transformed by her survival experience is something worth watching and enjoying for a teen audience and I regret the game designers have, in a way, shut them out.

Tomb Raider: The Final Hours Edition for PS3 was what I preordered and got on release date. I liked what the game had been marketed as, and since Uncharted got me to like this genre of videogames more, I decided It'd be worth the preorder price to pick it up, boy have I been pleased. Tomb Raider offers a fresh reboot to the series. I never really played much of the original Tomb Raider series, whenever I picked them up, they just weren't my thing. I don't know why, but this one I could play easier. What I love about this game is that you get to see Laura grow, and feel her pain. She's not the typical hero in other games that can run through explosions and not get a scratch on her, she gets hurt, and it really hurts, and you have to deal with those problems. The acting is great. The graphics are great. It plays like an interactive movie, with third person shooting. I prefer the bow and arrow the most, and I enjoy all the rpg elements that are brought to the table. This involves collecting "salvage" and upgrading weapons with said "salvage" and leveling up Laura to unlock certain skills. Its enjoyable, and fun. I think the one quote from myself that can explain how I feel about the game that I posted on my facebook account the other day sums up what I feel about this game.

"Tomb Raider is a rather great game. Never have I played a character that is more "human" in a videogame, what I mean by that is she feels pain, gets hurt realistically, and her fragility and determination is what makes her a strong female lead. Never have I liked a Tomb Raider game, and this one is a great revamp." -B

5/5, pick this up an enjoy playing!

I also suggest if you play through this game and loved it, and want "something along this quality", have a PS3(or Vita) and pick up one of the Uncharted Titles that are out for those systems. They are pretty good in their own right.

There seems to be a trend of games I skeptically watch while under development that utterly amaze me once released, and Tomb Raider happily fits into that trend. I expected this game to be yet another disappointing bomb in the series, only to find I loved it just as much as I did Uncharted. Now, with that said, let's get something out of the way: Tomb Raider is not Uncharted.

People who enjoyed Uncharted will most likely enjoy Tomb Raider, but there is one exceptionally large difference and that is atmosphere. Uncharted excels at the almost fantastical adventure. Bright colors, mystical locations, witty companions, and a humorous lead. Indiana Jones at its finest. Tomb Raider, on the other hand, is very gritty. There is a surprising amount of blood and gore, and some incredibly brutal deaths that can come out of no where. This isn't a Disney movie where someone gets shot and they dramatically fall downs -this is a Tarantino film where they go down and lie there bleeding, gasping their last breath, and all the while the camera is giving you a clear shot of the bullet wound. Now, I'm not going to jump into the camp the game is super realistic, because it isn't and I wouldn't want it to be. But understand that this game isn't a lighthearted romp.

The environment is also a lot more open than most games in the genre. It feels very linear at first, but the environments quickly opened up enough to have me happily wandering all over the map for hours looking for nooks and crannies I didn't find when I was passing through as part of the main story arc. It's incredibly fun to explore, but many times during the story I found I couldn't hold still long enough to do so. The story is engaging, even if the side characters aren't, and the pacing keeps you constantly moving. This is a game that simply flows from one part to the next, and three hours can pass before I even I even think about pausing. It just feels completely natural to keep progressing and not stop.

One thing I have to applaud the developers for is the mechanics. The intelligent cover system is fantastic, and lets me focus on how to handle the wave of locals trying to turn me into a pincushion instead of managing my button pressing to duck. It took me a while to get used to aiming with the thumb sticks quickly enough to fire, as it doesn't hold your hand as much as Uncharted, but once you get the knack for it it just flows. I'm sure players who have played other shooters on the platform will have no problems with it. All of Lara's actions and abilities have a purpose. There is nothing in my arsenal that I write off as a waste of time, though some of the skill points unlocks are decidedly uninteresting. It all felt incredibly well polished.

I mentioned that the side characters are sort of uninteresting, but that doesn't tell the full story. Lara is played excellently. Her voice actress is perfect, her reactions are believable, her stress is clearly felt, and she just feels like a solid character. Next to her, her companions feel as unwanted as dishwater in a wine glass. They just don't fit the game. Their character models are fine, even their back stories and dialog is fine (if a bit over the top occasionally), but where it falls flat is their voice acting. It's all over the board. Some are actually pretty good, some will make you roll your eyes, and some will make you cringe at how flat and unemotional the performance is.

There have been some critics that have pointed out the fact that it felt incredibly disjoint to have Lara kill a man (or deer) and feel terrible about it, only to get up and shoot five more without a peep of complaint. While I understand where they're coming from, I never felt the disconnect. I honestly would have wanted to shake if she sat crying over the corpse of every man that tried to put a bullet in her. In some senses, video game stories need to be taken like a book, and your imagination is expected to help you maintain the image after they've planted the seed. They show you her anguish, they show you her nervousness, they show you her lack of confidence, and then they let you take over. The only other way to do this would be a constant stream of consciousness that WOULD be completely out of place and take me out of the game.

Overall, I am incredibly impressed with this game, and it while it changed the soul of Tomb Raid I think it was for the better. We needed a new face, we needed a new personality, and we needed a better story, and we were given it.

(SPOILER FREE ""Except for Parts of the Prequel Game, Metro: 2033"")

Through the very first minutes of playing Metro: Last Light, it becomes increasingly evident that the game matches its above-average predecessor, Metro 2033, and then surpasses it with ease. This finely made sequel takes the gaming audience back to the same post-apocalyptic Russian underground environment of Metro 2033, twenty years after the catastrophic events of a global war and nuclear holocaust that happened in 2013. Last Light takes place a year after the events of the first game.

Based on the post-apocalyptic novel "Metro 2033" by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the Metro series charts the survival of a young man who was born in the subways, tunnels and halls beneath the devastated wastelands of the surface world, where some animals and humans have "changed" into mutants referred to as Dark Ones. Metro: Last Light picks up where the previous game left off, with our protagonist settled down in a military base camp, believing his order has completely eliminated the threatening Dark Ones (at the end of the 2033). Then the nightmares came... In Last Light, our character is tasked with tracking down the last remaining Dark One, and he is sent to head to the surface. That's when things get tricky, and spoilers must be avoided. Enemies of enemies become friends, a daring prison escape comes to a conclusion, one that just scratches the surface of utter survival of the fittest -that's just in the very, very beginning of the game. No spoiler. Gotta grip yet?

In Metro, you make some game-affecting decisions as far as communicating with NPCs and killing or sparing certain people. As you sneak and fight your way through both the tunnel systems of underground Russia and the laid-to-waste garbage land of the surface, there is a multi-factional civil war happening. So, character choices ARE evident, even though it really comes into effect later. You upgrade and modify your weapons, mostly handmade, also collecting tactical gear as you make every attempt to dominate the monsters of the world. With these elements, Metro: Last Light succeeds at being both a polished first-person shooter and a survival-horror game, as it blends those elements in a very fine way, albeit slightly more heavy towards suspense horror than the element of survival (More Dead Space 2 than Resident Evil 4) ... except it's FPS, of course. In another way, one can compare this game to other post-apocalyptic FPS like Fallout 3 and Rage. However, this is not an open-world sandbox game, so don't be fooled.

Rightfully, Last Light has improved on the series in the most important, gaming-experience-centered ways. The gameplay is incomparably smoother, which was a necessary development because Metro 2033 was outright clunky. The inventory management is easy, but could be a tad better. The controls are similar to games like Far Cry 3, maybe not as smooth, but very good, and a much needed improvement. The graphics are clean, crisp, and finely presented, probably the best feature of the game, unlike the choppy and scattered graphic work found in its predecessor. The graphics really set the dark tone of the game, creating a dangerous and challenging atmosphere. Sometimes, the character designs during NPC conversation sequences lack a little detail, but overall it's well done, and that's just a minor complaint. The enemy AI has been much improved, another necessary change they needed to make, as that was probably 2033's second-worst shortcoming, behind all the initial bugs and glitches. 2033 wasn't hard enough, and the action didn't do justice to the premise of the game. Last Light does not suffer from any of those lags. The sound is finely mastered, as it is often keystone to drawing proper suspense in a horror game -with faint noises lurking in the distance and uproars of ear piercing pitches when danger begins to hint.

I was skeptical to purchase this game at first, as I had not really heard much about it, and I didn't play the demo. Now, I know they made commercials, but I didn't see them, and still haven't. Also, I was mildly disappointed with the first game, and when major game developer THQ had taken over the project, it gave some room for hope. However, they fell into financial trouble, eventually filing for bankruptcy -making a lot of people think that the sequel to Metro 2033 was going to be shelved. The eastern European gaming development company, Deep Silver, picked up the rights in auction and finished the project. It's a good thing Deep Silver, the publishers of the Dead Island series, followed through.

The game feels like how it should feel, like a finished product, not something that was rushed to production or remains short-sided or too linear. Last Light is a lot of fun, and it coaxes fine playing from the gamer with a good learning curve. They could have added some things here and there, and I'm sure they would have liked to have more time to finish, but the final product is a success story. I particularly loved the weapon customization, graphics, enemy design, and the on-going, developing adaptation of the novel "Metro 2033" by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

This is one of the best games I have played in 2013, and I'm playing Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3 presently. Games I've played this year like Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and The Last of Us will all be Game of the Year candidates. Metro: Last Light will certainly be up there as well.

Last Light is a rewarding game set in a unique atmosphere that gets the blood rushing, and sets the suspense for causing deep breath releases throughout the course of the game. Safety is something you feel beyond the screen when you get past the danger. You're going to be unloading a lot of bullets to take down enemies, but you're also going to be keeping an eye on ammo count, so the game is just difficult enough to be a good challenge, and the improved enemy AI really shows.

A good suspense-based first-person shooter needs three things, in my mind, to succeed. Number 1) Gameplay first -all great FPS games need to be clean, clear, polished and flowingly and directly accessible. The control base and concept creation must match the quality of the action (like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2). Number 2) Strong story -any FPS can succeed without a good, detailed story, but the great ones have stories that grow deeper throughout the game, giving the action more meaning, creating more non-linear plot lines, and offering the gamer the chance for deeper involvement (like in Bioshock Infinite). 3) Lastly, a sense of catharsis -a great game that uses suspense and utilizes horror must finish the ending of the game with suspense or partial resolve, feelings that provide a sense of catharsis and satisfaction for the player after finishing the game (like in Half Life 2).

Metro: Last Lights, for good merit, succeeds on all accounts, especially in the realm of horror and in the essence of action. Also, it's a creative output in a genre that tends to see a lot of redundancy. It's amazing to think that this title might have gone under with THQ, but it didn't. So, ... Here's a quick rating breakdown.

GRAPHICS -9/10

ART DESIGN AND CONCEPT -9/10

CONTROLS -8/10

GAMEPLAY -9/10

SOUND -10/10

GAME DEPTH -8/10

DIFFICULTY DIFFERENCES -8/10

STORY -9/10

WRITING -8.5/10

REPLAY QUALITY -9/10

OVERALL -9.0/10 (Excellent)

Pros:

-Superior to Metro 2033

-Graphics

-Gameplay

-Succeeds in the realm of survival horror

-Concept, design and story

Cons:

*Following directions of NPCs can sometimes be mildly confusing

*A fairly decent amount of cinematic sequences and cut shots which draw things out a little too much

*Inventory management could be better

*Needed some initial patches (which was fine)

*The Limited Edition of the game is the Standard Version, that would be THQ's fault -not Deep Silver, they had to work with what they were given and within an amount of time -they could have just added the DLC to the original game because it's not different outside of difficulty.

This game has real atmosphere. I think you get a good taste of what life would be like in a nuclear winter. Maybe I'm just cheesy, but it was a scary game.

The characters are developed. There is real emotion and feeling. The story is absolutely amazing.

I wished Artyom actually spoke in the game. And some character accents, like Anna, weren't that good. But there is a reason. I think the creators didn't want the accents to be too thick and hence not understandable.

I highly recommend this game.

I wasn't sure whether to buy Metro Last Light, since Metro 2033 proved too difficult for me to finish. I'm happy to report that the easy mode for Metro Last Light provided the right amount of challenge for a casual gamer like me.

The game play mechanics are great. Sneaking actually works well. You get a silencer for your gun early in the game, so stealth is actually fun. The controls feel responsive. There were very few moments where I felt frustrated.

The graphics are also great. Playing felt immersive due to the excellent graphics. Walking through the different environments, it felt like the NPCs were real people. As you walk around in the stations, you can hear conversations of other characters. It was fun to just stand there and listen to some these conversations.

My one complaint about this game is the voice acting. A lot of the time it felt stilted. I would describe the story as good, but it didn't rise to the level of great.

Overall, this game is a lot of fun and even the casual gamer can play through its entirety.

This game is for my son, but I played it as well, and it is so awesome as my son would put it. The graphics are amazing. . . Great story line and Lots to do inside the game. My son does not want to put the game down. He wants to play it constantly. Highly recommended if you like FPS games. 5 out of 5 for us.

This was a very thrilling game. The entire plot line was fantastic. The controls were a little different than what I anticipated, but was still very easy to learn. But the only thing I did not like was the ending.

The other reviewers tell you everything you need to know about the game. It's a lot of fun. I couldn't find a clear answer before buying it to whether or not my rock band guitar and drums would work with it. Thus, the point of this review is to let you know that YES they will work. You don't have to buy a whole new set of equipment. This isn't meant to discourage you from buying them if that's what you want. I'm just letting you know you don't have to if you own the first generation or Rock Band equipment. I, personally, just don't have the space to house two drums sets. I wouldn't have bought the game if the controllers weren't compatible for that reason. My only small complaint is that some of the songs on Rockband 2 and GH WT overlap but there's enough songs that don't (Hotel California and Purple Haze) that it's worth buying both.

This is a good enough game for even those who can not pony up the dough for full kit or a new guitar, just get the game and play just bass and guitar, and let your inner rock fury go!

I myself purchased this band kit as soon as I could this morning the day of release, and it is well worth it. Here is what comes it the kit: Drum kit(3 pads, 2 cymbal risers, kick pedal) with midi in and expansion port, drumsticks, usb microphone, guitar with connector/usb splitter, stickers for guitar. All you need to connect in one box, no need for extra usb hub if you do not want it.

A bit about the drum kit, very playable, durable upper, kick pedal is a bit flimsy, but alright for my purposes.

A bit about the new guitar. This features detachable faceplate, extended neck, larger strum bar, longer whammy bar, and the tap/touch pad. this guitar is not necessary for any features in the game, but for advanced gamers, they may find it a new fun way to bend the sounds on long notes, or get through hammer-ons and pull offs faster. I'm pleased I can get through this on the old Les Paul.

Now, about the game itself, see song listing above, it's amazing. Just a ton more songs available in the game, only a few to "purchase" in the game, the rest unlock. The venues and graphics are all sharp and fantastic to look at. The animation of the Guests who come in are spot on, such as Ted Nugent riding in on a Bison, or Zach Wilde's attitude behind the 6 string. There are many other guest such as Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumkins, the Lead Singer of Paramore, and the drummer from Blink 182. Overall the game play will keep you busy for many hours (took me almost 4 hours to get 50% through, minimal breaks). The head to head battle's with guitar legends is now replace by guitar challenges with masters like Ted Nugent And Zach Wilde where you don't try to cut strings and stuff, you just try to keep up with them and make yourself and them look good. If you do, you play an encore with them.

Also, there is a recording studio that allows users to make and play their own music, a first like this for this genre (though rock revolution tried). And much like legends of rock, there is online team play, head to head battling.

If you do not have another "Band Kit" and are looking to have one, this is an excellent choice, and having played Rock band and Rock Band Two, this is at or above both of those, especially since they are all "Master Recordings", no covers, and it has plenty of great songs fulfill my need to thrash, rock, or pop my way about stage.

This is a good game but it falls short in a couple of areas:

Pros (always good to stay positive at first):

Music that just isn't available anywhere else

Death Magnetic Album (tight)

Recording Studio is kinda cool I like how you can pick scales and effects with your axe (more on that in Cons)

Create Rock Star is really in depth

Compatibility with RB instruments (biggest plus)

Cons

DLC Content is practically non existent (yes it is new but at least support all of GH:3's content would have made up for it)

Graphics are not as good as they could/should be

Recording Studio is like a create your own ringtone studio......vocals should be in there in some medium......maybe they just can't publish vocals on the net

The instruments don't sync that well with the TV and Calibration does little to fix this

Overall GH:WT is a fun game and its worth it if you just love this genre of games to own as it gives you more songs to play. I just think Activision should have stuck to what they were doing before. People love the GH games and with the Artists that they always get they will sell games. I think GH: Aerosmith is cool and I am sure GH: Metallica will sell a lot of games.

This one i can qualify it as essential, and in my oppinion, it has the best playlist on all GH games, even of the most recent ones. The playlist is incredibly varied, so i can say that anyone will like it.

You have Metal, Hard rock, pop, grunge, Gothic rock, Country and Dance music, there are other genders but i don't know how they are called.

So anyway, if you're a Guitar Hero fan or collector, this one will be an essential one, and if you're about to start in Guitar Hero world, this is the best edition to start with.

Want Guitar Hero World Tour Discount?

First off, love the songs. Out of the box, GH has the best songs period. The download content is also great if you want more.

However the gameplay was either too hard or too easy. Even with the 5 skill level, the game just seemed to be too large a jump in skill levels. The speed the notes come and the notice you get before they were even on medium makes the game very hard unless you learn and memorize the songs.

Also unlike Rockband, you can not simply add older games songs into the library of music. That was a huge selling point for me since we want as many songs as possible.

The slider was pretty cool for the guitar but does not get much use. Its kind of a gimmick IMO and not really needed.

The graphics were not as good as Rockband either nor is setting up to play. It felt like it took a lot longer to select songs and play. Though the graphics do not matter much for a game like this, being able to get into a game quick with friends is critical.

Overall not a bad game but just not as good as I had hoped. Not sure if I would by another GH game after this one, as when people come over we all play Rockband.

Burned out on WWII First-Person Shooters I decided to give Call of Juarez: Bound for Blood a go and I am glad that I did. If you are a FPS fan you will most certainly enjoy this PS3 game.

There are many excellent aspects to this game that far outweigh the flaws!

1)INCREDIBLE story line gets your attention right away. This has got to be one of the best story lines in a game that I have ever played.

2)Voices used are realistic and add to the Western flavor of this FPS.

3)Classic FPS fun

4)You get to play both of the brother characters at various times throughout the game. Think ahead when picking which one because both have different strengths and weaknesses. Enjoy experimenting with the various weapons that you can find along the way.

5) I disagree with one reviewer THE GRAPHICS ARE TOP NOTCH! This adds to the realism of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

6)No major bugs in the controlling of your character or the game itself.

7)Frequent check points for auto-saving some may find this irritating.

8)There are many secrets that you can find along the way some FPS gamers may need the strategy guide if you are hell bent on finding all of them.

9)Is the game worth shelling out $50+ on? My conclusion at the end was YES!

10) Did I mention the story line!!! Comical at times. Drama. Romance. Tons of action and adventure.

The one MAJOR and irritating flaw to this game is that you can't explore as much as you would like to. If you leave your brother alone for too long the game will timeout and you must start over again at the last checkpoint. However, there are certain cues given in the dialog on when you can explore with more time.

Some reviewers mentioned that the lip synching was off, however I only noticed this a few times and it did not distract from the game whatsoever name one FPS where ALL of the lip synching is perfect in the entire game.

Personally, I am burned out on all the WWII based FPS and I don't care for the futuristic ones. Thus, I found this to be a refreshing entry in the the PS3 FPS genre and I am sure you will too.

I would also recommend Far Cry 2 if you have not bought this FPS yet? It got a bad rap at the beginning because of some game bugs, however an update has eliminated these issues and it was one of the best FPS I have ever played. You can really explore in Far Cry 2 I highly recommend this FPS as well and for it's current price it is a bargain!

This is one game I'm really glad I have in my collection of video games. If you like anything that has to do with the Old West, you'll love this game.

Let me tell you something. This has got one of the best looking video game engines I have ever seen for a PlayStation 3 video game. The game developer is called Techland and the video game engine they use to build this game is called the Chrome Engine 4. The outdoor scenes especially toward the middle of the game are just spectacular. I honestly went exploring around on some maps just to look at the scenery. Some of the maps are sandbox (Free Worlds) and these Free World maps are huge and you can go anywhere on these maps to explore. I love mounting a horse and just riding around looking at things. I live in Utah and the outdoor scenes in the Southwest United States in the game are just like they are in real life with the beautiful canyons and mountains scenes. The streams and rivers and waterfalls look like they have real water flowing through them.

Okay as far as the story goes to this game, I think the story line is pretty good. There are two main characters mentioned throughout the game that are brothers. The oldest brother is called Ray McCall and the younger brother is called Thomas McCall. What most reviews to this game fail to mention is that there is a third brother in the game who is the youngest brother. His name is William. He doesn't carry a gun since he is more like a preacher who preaches about God and carries the Bible around with him. He goes pretty much where ever the other two brothers go within the game. Now the game starts out with the two older McCall brothers, Ray and Thomas, fighting in Georgia for the Confederacy against the Union during the Civil War. The two oldest brothers end up deserting the Confederate Army to go and defend their home against Union Soldiers. William is with their mother trying to defend their home already. They end up losing their home and William decides to goes with Ray and Thomas out West to look for the "Lost Treasure of Cortez" that is located some where down in Mexico where they can regain their fortune.

Basically the game from there is all about going through Mexico and Arizona. You meet Mexican bandits, different Indian tribes, lawmen, outlaws, gunslingers, exconfederate soldiers, civilians, etc. You help and fight different people throughout the game. You have a choice of different weapons to fight with. You can use different kind of revolvers and rifles to fight with. Usually at the end of each mission throughout the game, you end up fighting the main bad guy in an old fashion gunfight where you draw pistols at each other. When you end up killing the main bad guy in the gunfight, you advance further along in the game.

There is a lot of replay value in this game especially on the Free World maps. I understand that Techland is going to add more maps to the game later on. I hope that if Techland does add more maps to the game that they are all Free World maps. I love them kind of maps to ride around on a horse to explore. I highly recommend people to go out and buy the game to add to their collection of video games just so they'll have a Western game to play.

If your a western fan you should probably check out this game, the story is good and the gameplay is smooth. I personally don't have a problem with the cover system as others have stated that they don't like it, but I will agree with one of the other reviews that the dynamites when thrown at you can be hard to find and dodge. The graphics are good most of the time but there a few glitches and the lip syncing can be off at times too, but these are minor complaints for a great fps. The only real problems is the enemy AI isn't great and the campaign is kinda short, but it's worth playing through twice to see both brothers set of missions. I've only played a little multiplayer and it looks great, there's 13 calsses to be unlocked by earning money and upgrades to buy, and a fair amount of maps and game types with the promise of downloadable content in the future. The only thing with multiplayer is that in the manuel it tells you what port they use and if you have a firewall up you'll have to open that port to be able to play online without getting kicked out.

Since Western themed games come out once every blue moon, the wait better be worth it. This game IS worth the 2 yr wait. Terrific story and acting, top notch gameplay (never a problem knowing what to do or where to go),and user friendly controls for skill levels of all types make this my sleeper hit of 2009. Graphics are sharp as well. I highly recommend Call Of Juarez Bound in Blood, i just wish game developers would flood the market with westerns like they do with WWII shooters every 3 months. C'mon guys, the WWII genere is soooo outplayed. Do yourself a favor and play this game.

I really enjoy this game. I purchased it today and I have played both the story mode and the multiplayer.. both of which are a lot of fun to play. I've always enjoyed Western games but, few of them have been impressive overall. Bound in Blood seems to have broken the mold!! I've been an avid Modern Warfare player for the last 2 years and I've decided to take a break from the game until Modern Warfare 2 comes out. Call of Juarez Bound in Blood will serve as a delightful distraction until that time comes. I recommend this game to anyone who is a FPS or a Western fan.. or better yet, both!

This is an outstanding controller. Very comfortable to hold and all buttons are in easy reach. It is already perfectly set up for use with the Street Fight IV & the default button configuration. Moves requiring quarter, half & full circle movements are incredibly easy do, thanks to the floating digital pad. And they can be done consistently. It comes a with handy Turbo button which makes characters like Chun-Li & E. Honda especially dangerous.

My only problem with the controller & its floating digital pad is that it may be too sensitive sometimes. For characters that require charge attacks or precise up and down movements of the digital pad for combos, the Dualshock 3/Six-axis controller is actually easier to use & more consistent.

If you have PS3 then you already have the standard controller & I highly suggest you try out the Fight Pads to get the most out of this game. It will probably come in handy for other fighting games as well. I fully intend to use this pad on Tekken.

Yes, this makes SF4 much more playable. A throwback Sega six button pad. The d-pad is not quite Sega style but its pretty good for fireballing motions. However, charge characters who need precise angles to execute like Balrog, you'll find your self doing dash lows, when you want to do a dash strait. You'll also find yourself doing dragon punches when you wanted to do the double motion for an ultra. A little sensitive it is.

On the shoulder buttons, they have a nice click and feel to them. Though, I wish the left shoulder was more like a trigger. The positioning kinda stinks. This button gives me all hell with ultras needing PPP. Your lf index finger needs to "curl" to press this button considering your thumb is on the d-pad.

ON the build quality, its a lot better than people have been complaining about. In the beginning the D-pad was a little "clicky" and would stick in some positions, but you need to break in in a bit.

Look, if you are serious about SF, you need a stick. This pad is 3 times as good as the PS3 pad, but 10 times worse than a stick. I opted not to go with a stick because, though I'm becoming a SF nerd, I want to be able to play with a controller for when the guys come over, not an expensive nerdy arcade stick. But I'm temped every time I cant pull off a complex link combo. The thumb is just not as dexterous as your middle fingers. But the stick is cost restrictive, so this is the next best option.

Overall good, but only if you are slightly more than a casual SF4 gamer but less than an aspiring expert.

*******UPDATE 4/13/2010************

*sigh* I really wanted this to work. But 3 months later of 20 hrs per week play time and the controller started sticking in some buttons, randomly cutting off in the middle of heated matches and lastly, button presses registering incorrectly. (PPP started coming out as MP. wth?)

Horrible quality but alas there are no real options other than getting a nerdy stick at this point..

*******UPDATE 6/22/2010************

Ok, I broke down and got a joystick. This pad really isn't worth it if your putting more than 10-20 hours a week into this game I think. It still is an upgrade from the stock pad but the quality is so shabby with extended use. You'll end up buying at least 2 in your SF lifetime and at that point you should have just gotten a stick. (It will take you a month to get used to the stick)

As a final note here...The Pad warrior tourney players DO NOT use this pad. Many of them use the stock ps3 pad. I think that says a lot overall about this product.

After struggling to do all the old special moves I know and love on the usual "split" D-pad of the PS3 controller and getting my rear handed to me, I decided it was time to go "old school" and return to my Sega roots. I'm so glad I did. This controller is not only slightly faster and more comfortable to play with, but the disc D-pad is far easier to use. Well worth the purchase if you're tired of the idiotic arrow buttons or over-sensitive sticks of your normal controller.

Read Best Reviews of Sony PS3 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Ken Here

On a whim I preordered this controller from Amazon earlier this week. Mostly because I felt that anything would be better than the standard button layout of the Dual Shock 3 controller. I have been using the Fightpad ever since I got it in the mail and it is fantastic.

Every design of this controller is focused for fighting games, the directional pad has a smooth motion to it but with positive feedback. Quarter circle and hold moves are extremely fluid and can be performed reliably, which can't be said about the Dual Shock's dpad. The buttons are in an ergonomic position so none of them are difficult to reach. The system buttons are all recessed so they won't be pushed during a battle, and there are turbo functions to ease pulling off some of the more difficult combos.

I have always been skeptical of Madcatz products but these controllers are wonderfully designed and serve their purposes well. Sadly these controllers are not backwards compatible so they won't work with your PS2 or PS1 games. At least I couldn't get it to work.

This controller feels great in your hands. Love the click of the buttons, but the D-pad does take some getting used to. It's so large playing as charge characters...can be more of a challenge than usual. All in all though...if you put in the time...you'll be rewarded.

I recently purchased the keyboard from my local store (sorry Amazon--couldn't wait). I reviewed the keyboard on amazon a little under the game listing, so I will try not to repeat everything I wrote under Rock Band 3.

First-It's a ton of fun and really a fantastic addition to the game. I know that not all songs have keyboard parts, so it is a little limiting, but for the songs that have keyboards it's great. I hope they will re-release songs like Journey's Don't Stop Believing and add the keyboard part.

Pro-keys is challenging because there are 25 keys instead of just 5 buttons like the guitar has. You actually have to "practice" to reach expert level. I've been playing piano for 25 years and I have to play the songs a few times just to get through hard level. Of course, that could just mean that I suck after 25 years, but who knows?

I have a feeling the visual part of this will be similar to Pro-Guitar. The screen probably shows about 15 keys (black and white) at a time and then it shifts left to right during the song to show other keys. That is probably the most confusing and difficult part. In the old rockband when playing a guitar or drums, the screen is static and doesn't shift from left to right, but similar to the old rockbands, the notes still come down a sort of highway. You really have to see it to know what i mean. Regardless, it can be pretty hard to keep up with the finger adjustments. It definitely requires some practice.

YOU WON'T LEARN TO PLAY PIANO BY PLAYING THIS GAME. Just thought I'd get that out there. I would take a lesson if you want to learn how to play. The game play doesn't necessarily go along with how you would play it on a piano. They do a good job with the limited amount of keys they have , but if you really play the instrument then you would notice right away. i.e. the song may move an octave higher, but you are moving an octave lower in the game. That's also a little confusing.

Overall, I found it to be a lot of fun and it added a new dimension to the game for me. I'm not recommending the keyboard stand unless you want to sing and play at the same time. I think $30 is a little expensive for a stand. The keyboard is also expensive at $80 by itself, but I still think it's worth it.

Rock on!

Rock band is rock band BUT why in the heck would ANYONE pay this kind of money for this bundle when you can buy the game for $40 and the keyboard for $70 separately. Oh, let's see, let me pay an extra $140 just so Ii don't have to go them separately? Great buy!

If you buy this bundle for 200$ you're an idiot. The guitar is 80 dollars and the game is 50 for a total of 130 sold separately.

The addition of the keyboard to the Rock Band game was an excellent choice. The songs in the game are kind of limited.

In the fall of 2011 I bought MAG, I had enjoyed MW2 and was looking for a multiplayer shooter. I knew that MAG had been released about the time or shortly after MWF2. I do feel that the graphics are acceptable for the time of release, and I believe that they still hold up well. If you buy the game today 4/30/2012 you will be slightly dissappointed if you have been playing the newer military shooters that were released like MWF3 or BF3. Also, whether it is because of lack of players playing online right now some game types do take a bit to get into a game. I prefer to play domination which puts you on a team of 112 players versus another team. The fun part of MAG is that it does feel epic. There are so many people playing. I would suggest playing with a mic and getting a friend or two to buy the game and link up together. There is a really fun attribute tree that allows you to customize your soldiers strengths. You NEVER have to start over with your unlocks like on MWF games. This game right now is really cheap, and I would reccommend it if you are looking for another shooter to play online.

When I first played MAG I was so confused I really ended up running in circles. The complex command system and astounding number of players, it is extremely easy to get lost. But once I got the hang of the command, skills menu, and maps, this was one of the best shooters I have ever played. The fact that it is online has discouraged many from buying it but I say this is its greatest aspect. There really isn't any need for a single player due to the circumstances surrounding the game. You will know what I mean once you pick this game up. The constant action and bullets flying kept me on the edge of my seat and had my heart pounding. It was even better when I started getting good at killing other players.

The game consists of Sabotage, Acquisition, and Dominiation as pmc vs pmc. However, there is a suppression mode which is like a deathmatch only facing your own pmc. Sabotage is pretty straight forward. Take over two objectives at the same time and then go to a third trying to take that out. Acquisition is trying to retrieve vehicles from another pmc and returning it to your crate. Lastly, my favorite Domination. This is the 132 vs 132 match that has all the critics talking. I won't spoil anything about this game mode because you have to experience it yourself. But all I can say is its more epic than getting a nuke in COD.

The bad thing is every player has a certain internet. So whether this internet is good or not can lead to being shot through solid objects and bullets not doing damage. But this happens very rarely and the servers with which Zipper holds the game on is excellent. There is no lag on their part. As long as you know what you are doing and follow orders this game will be a must keep in your ps3 stash of games.

black ops is good and so is mw3 ... but mag is epic. the maps are so big and it gives u a great advantage if u like to snipe. mw3 feels like im on a football feild...mag is like the stadium, parking lot and more....more room to move and fight.

It is a fun yet challenging game. The disappointment is the difficultly is so hard on medium but too easy on easy. Other than that it has a great story line and it's a fun game to play.
