Plug one end and then plug in the other; if you can't figure it out, maybe you shouldn't be messing with a computer. :) In all seriousness, it is a good quality cable, pay attention though to the 2.0 NOT 3.0 (determines the speed and the type of port you can plug into, most (I say 'most' because sometimes there are the weird problems that crop up) 3.0 ports are compatible with 2.0 devices, but 2.0 not compatible with 3.0), does exactly what it is supposed to, allows me to have extra length where I didn't before. Works great and no difference in the throughput without the extension. Perfect.
