I try to stay away from reveiwing things unless it is really worth the time. This game has gone fairly unnoticed by the gaming community however is one that is worth a look. Especially for the cheap price you can pick it up.

Last week I got it new for $15.00 and it has been a much better and enjoyable gaming experience than I was expecting. Great RPG/SPY Game and is unique in the way that I have not come across another game quite like this one. I will keep this short and sweet:

The Good:

Immersive Story

Unique Dialogue Options

Choices Effect the Gameplay Often

Freedom to Complete Missions as you see fit

Good Character Development

Good Game Length

The Bad:

Graphically Lacking (for ps3)

Combat can be annoying at times

All in all this game is brilliant in it's entirety and is really worth taking a look at. If you want something a little out of the norm give it a shot. I would give this an 8.5 out of 10 overall.

Listen chances are if you are a fan of fallout, or anything else even remotely related to bethesda, which obsidian happens to be, you've already heard about how much this game just totally reeks.

But thats not entirely true, if you, much like myself, have ever enjoyed watching jason bourne complete his mission with steely resolve and sick hand to hand skills,or watching jack bauer be irrationality angry with someone for no reason only to find out he has a bomb in his possession, in which case he then beats him mercilessly, or watched james bond approach quite literally every situation, with stylish wit, and a trigger finger to match, THAN THIS GAME IS WORTH TEN DOLLARS

Seriously the crappy voice acting when you try and seduce people is worth ten dollars,

Cheers

I use this to power a remote cisco switch. It supports netgear, cisco, linksys etc. if you have not split your cat 5 cable (eg into phone and 100mb) it should work fine.

Much cheaper alternative to running power or buying a PoE-generating switch and PoE-powered switch pair (which costs approx $300 from netgear).

I received these on time and without hassle.

As to function? Excellent. I have large hands but still find that hitting the triggers can be a nuisance. These installed absolutely flawlessly, haven't fallen off once, and do exactly what I thought they would do. I have had no problems with them in any way, and enjoy them more than I even thought I would, unlike the KontrolFreek adds. I have no idea how they would work for other sized hands, if I would guess the only sized hands which this would help with are those so small they have a hard time hitting the triggers anyway. I simply like these, a lot. I wish more products were like them.

So far, I've played ~80 games (I had the early release) in EASHL with most being in club play, but a handful of OTP games as well. The good things I've seen so far are that hitting generally works, skating seems reasonably fluid once you have enough stats on your player, goalies aren't making saves they shouldn't and aren't letting in too many weak goals, the new EASHL seasons makes things a bit more exciting, stick lifting now seems to work well enough and not give constant penalties, and that the AI seems to be improving on the offensive side.

On the other hand, it also has a few areas for improvement. AI on D during a rush is almost useless and gives up the toe drag wrist shots from the high slot as it has in the last 5 years or so. On top of that, these seem to be going in at an alarming rate for players who likely are well below having their legend card yet. Larger players seem to have a big balance boost, which makes it nearly impossible to knock down a player more than 4 inches taller than you. Poke checking seems inconsistent. Forcing passes through defenders works too often, and offense seems to be much more able to pick up loose pucks than on defense.

It will be interesting to see how future tuners change this, as EA doesn't seem to have much of a rhyme or reason for many of the changes they end up making, so we could be looking at a much different reaction in 3 months or so.

UPDATE 9/16-

While at first fighting seemed like an improvement over the old system, after getting into a few dozen fights the majority of online players just seem to mash the punch button and manage to win more often than not. There doesn't seem to be much of a way around this either. Using R2 to dodge and counter is somewhat difficult to do, and if they manage to connect with a hit, you might as well just let them win. At least the old system gave you a ton more control as far as dodging went.

More disappointing is that face-off spamming (continuously trying to win the draw before it is dropped, making your character twitch) still works in the game despite countless complaints and EA promising to fix it. As a top 50 center right now with 60% wins, I still manage to have games against these guys where I go 30% while they are clearly exploiting the system. Its been going on for a few years now, and should have been fixed long ago.

Finally a more minor issue is that low speed skating that you would do defensively to get into position and face the puck is more difficult than it should be, and results in too many cases where I'm out of position because the game decided I wanted to do a big spin rather than just turn my hips.

This will be broken up into two sections: The actual product review and ideas to improve the play for next year:

PRODUCT REVIEW:

Since it's release, NHL 09 has left many hockey-mad gamers "chasing the dragon." Since the title came out, revolutionized hockey video games, and monopolized the hockey game market, many players have been wondering if EA will ever manage to outdo itself again. When I reviewed NHL 12, I indicated it was comprehensive, but that the overall gaming experience left a lot to be desired. I originally wrote a gushing NHL 13 review based off the demo until the gameplay pulled me back to reality and forced me to give it an average review; which lead to me testing this out one more thoroughly so I didn't repeat the same mistake again. So how does NHL 14 fare? Some of the gaming could stand improvement, but this is the best title since NHL 09.

One of the improvements that EA touted this year is that the goaltending AI has been refined to do a better job at anticipating the shot. This may not seem like a huge deal to your casual gamer, but this is an IMMENSE BOON for anyone who plays the goaltending position regularly (like myself.) I can finally say that the goaltending AI doesn't want to surrender a goal on every 9 shots taken by the computer. Instead, you're now in control of making sure you've covered the angle (which is a challenge in itself) while your goaltending AI does a better job of stopping the shot. This, along with the anticipation feature that was introduced in NHL 13 and the butterfly function, allows a human-controlled goaltender to be in the game just as well as the computer goaltender. There are certainly some defensive deficiencies that the AI-controlled players on the human-player team experience (more on that later), but the improvements in the goalie functions allow for you to overcome that through most games.

The new fighting engine flat out ROCKS! Though the fighting is in third-person now instead of first-person, the fighting now occurs as a direct result of what happens in the game and not just through instigating a fight using the Triangle button. Take a shot at a goalie when the whistle's blown or lay out a massive hit to a star player? You better be ready to defend yourself! What's more is that there can be multiple altercations at once, so if you're playing with and against others online, it's entirely possible to have a full-on line brawl. The fact that there can be multiple fights at once makes it better than in the games of the past, but there aren't any instigator penalties handed out for third-man-in fights and players aren't thrown out of a game if there's a second altercation (this should be changed to both make it true to life, but your casual gamer probably won't care either way.)

Be A Pro has had a facelift as of this season and is now known as Live The Life. In addition to playing out your pro's career, you're now tasked with saying and doing all of the political things a player does to ensure their popularity improves amongst the fans, management, teammates, and their families. Say the right things and your endorsement deals begin to appear, fans chant your name, your teammates and family love you, and management wants to give you the contract you deserve. If you say the wrong things, you'll end up traded to a different team, which can have a detrimental affect on other things. Though most of this was spot on, one thing I didn't care for was that any answer that bashed the team somehow raised the player's popularity amongst the fans. Maybe I'm a minority, but I'm not going to cheer for a guy who bashes his team. Otherwise, the new features make an already fun game mode even more fun to play.

The Be A GM feature has had some revisions as well in this year's game. You can set the trade difficulty to be separate from the difficulty of the gameplay and the difficulty of the franchise mode. You can also grant the AI more control to administer the team to the point where the only necessary human interaction is scouting; as even goalie rotation can be handled by the AI now (I suppose EA could have simulated scouting as well but what's the point of playing the game if the AI's going to play if for you?) Thanks in part to the lower salary cap, there's a significantly better chance of catching a big free agent during the off-season then there was playing last year's title. However, as the salary cap inflates, teams will be more likely to retain star players through the ability of being able to bury salary without giving other teams the option to claim the players; leaving either depth-role prime-aged players or veteran-aged castoffs with declining ability as the only options to be made available through free agency as the game goes on. The fact that teams can circumvent the waivers through the pre-season roster management presents a hole in the game that can stand to be patched; I'll make a suggestion for this later on. The only other problem with the Be A GM mode is that injuries intensify the deeper your roster is; so it's like you're being punished for actually building your AHL team as well.

The game has other features and improvements as well. Winter Classic has been expanded a bit to give you the option as to which venue you wish to play at (meaning either the Winter Classic '11 or Winter Classic '12.) The NHL 94 mode provides a retro-style hockey experience complete with simplified controls, old-school soundtrack, and the classic celebrations whenever you score. You can select your position prior to accepting a drop-in game when playing online. The soundtrack has gotten more rockin' again, as it was great to see Soundgarden and Bullet For My Valentine on the soundtrack (I do wish Blackguard would come back though!)

Otherwise, the gameplay hasn't changed drastically. Taking face-offs in this game has never been smoother, so that was a very happy surprise in comparison to previous seasons. Dishing out body checks feels more real-to-life in that your larger players can steamroll the smaller players, but larger players can also be adversely affected by poor balance as well. This remains a shooters game for those of you who prefer to put the puck onto the net. The passing isn't terrible, but there seems to be a difference between executing a pass within a game and executing a pass online; so it could stand revamping.

So with that all that said, this title is excellent for the casual gamer and great for the gamer with slight or moderate interest in hockey. If you're looking for a fun hockey title that's better than the more recent titles and updated from NHL 09, then this is the game to get.

ROOM TO IMPROVE:

Though this is excellent for casual gamers and well enough for those who are interested in hockey, this game can still cause frustration for the hardcore hockey gamer who's sees the annual NHL installment the way most gamers currently look at Grand Theft Auto V. The leaps and bounds shown this season was awesome and shouldn't be discounted, but there's always room to grow. With that said, here's what I'd like to see for next year:

The passing engine should be revamped, as the AI has an easier time connecting passes then human-controlled players do. I would love to see the passing being done with R2+Right Paddle, where the strength of the pass could be determined by how hard the paddle was pressed in that direction (the pass could be cancelled by releasing the R2 button without having executed the pass.)

Change the defensive players for the human-controlled teams in the goaltender Live The Life mode to be better than movable pylons. The back-checking should be more aggressive and the players should intentionally get into the passing lanes. Playing as a goaltender, there's still too many instances of "cheap" goals that get scored against a human goaltender where the defense breaks down and leaves the goaltender on their own because no one's coming back to play any semblance of defense; if your player's already positioned there then it's fine, but the AI won't do it as a reaction to the gameplay.

As a general example, I often find myself in the situation where the opposition will come up the rush and while my defender will be on them up to the defensive-zone face-off circle, the defender will actually turn away from the play and head for the boards, giving the attacking forward the opportunity to set up his shot without interference. The attacking player will go to an area inside the dot where it's too far to poke-check but too close to commit to the butterfly; often resulting in a goal. In a more specific example, I was playing as a member of the Winnipeg Jets facing the Anaheim Ducks. Though I successfully poke-checked Corey Perry twice, he still scored on the third attempt in the same sequence because AI-controlled 6'5" Dustin Byfuglien can't break past 5'10" Kyle Palmieri to make a defensive play because the latter's stick checking was too intense; even though they were 3 feet away. This goal was followed up by a 2-0 in my direction after the face-off because apparently, having a goal scored on you makes your teammates forget how to play defense. (I could complain that my AI-controlled centers win 10% of their defensive zone face-offs, but the resulting shots are low-percentage so I really can't moan about the stat fluffing.)

Further, if the coaching options are changed by the player during the game, the game should maintain those settings instead of changing them. It's frustrating when you begin to realize this occurred when the opposing team begins to attack and your players aren't responding the way they had previously (I'll set the offensive pressure to Aggressive and the team will play fine, but then the AI will change it to Defend Lead, where my team loses the ability to skate the puck past the red line.)

Revamp the Be A GM mode to give the GM a more realistic gameplay. There should be a full-on training camp for the preseason mode with an intra-squad scrimmage followed by 6 or 7 pre-season games where you can have up to 50 players (either on one-way, two-way, minor, or ATO/PTO contracts) where you can cut or designate them for assignment after each game; players who aren't waiver-exempt would be available to be claimed by the other teams instead of stashed in the minors as they are currently prior to the start of the season. There should be an option to allow GMs to manage their minor league teams as well. GMs so be able to add no-trade or no-movement clauses to contracts so they can negotiate better terms with their players. Much like the Live The Life mode, the GM should be able to receive positive (or negative) performance boosts based on their actions. Finally, an assistant GM upgrade (which would increase the chances of a trade being accepted/give better feedback on trades) would be better than adjusting trades to be done either easy, medium, or hard. Perhaps the AHL veteran limit could be imposed to prevent teams from stockpiling talent.

With the online drop-in game, actually divide the rooms based on skill level. Have a drop-in room for amateurs, rookies, et al, in addition to an Open Skate room for players of all skill levels. I hate seeing newer players get bullied by those who dedicate their lives to EA NHL games because it discourages the newer players from getting better; but the established players don't deserve to see their stats suffer because the other players aren't at their skill level, either. Open Skate means you run the risk of getting jeered by the jerks with mics or having your stats suffer because a level 56 goalie's leaking like a sieve. And if an amateur player is able to upgrade their equipment to boost their stats, then either they dedicated that much time to playing the Live The Life mode or they were willing to open their wallets to purchase the upgrades; both of which seem fair to me.

Finally, can EA get the KHL on-board? Could Live The Life see a player go to Europe instead of any of the North American leagues? I would love to see these refinements as well.

Con: The computer seems to be much more attentive than last years game. They are all over you all the time while your own AI is just ok. If the puck is near one of your guys and you are playing as him, they often sit there and don't go for the puck. It is very frustrating.

Pro: the physics are much better, love the hits. The game seems just a bit more polished overall. Everything runs smoothing minus the long load times.

Overall it is an improvement over last years. It adds enough to make it worth it and the faceoffs are much more intense now too.

While visually, this game isn't much different, the game play is much better. Fighting is much improved and it's easier to hit. The 'fixing' of the one timer is nice as well. Buy this game!

NHL 14 is an excellent game by far! I've been playing Live the Life mode since I got it, and it's very satisfying to make the decisions of a hockey player day in and day out. It also has kept the mode from becoming completely stale! The fighting in the game is PHENOMENAL, the hits leave you satisfied, and the SIMULATION in Be a GM mode as well as other game modes is improved so it no longer takes me 3 hours to simulate through one season!

It's the little things you'll notice in NHL 14 that will satisfy you as a fan of the series!

I'm a huge fan of driving and racing games, so as an early Christmas present, my wife bought a Logitech G27 for me. Great wheel, but when I tried to attach it to a fold out table it just flopped around and was too unstable. So I looked at wheel seats, but at $400, that was too much for me and then where to store it. After a little searching on Amazon, I found the Xlerator BigBoy wheel stand. ( because I'm quite a bit over weight ) with the G27 adaptor. It came with free shipping and arrived within a week. Assembly took less than an hour and I was up and driving NFS Shift in no time.

I really like the fact that this stand allows you to sit back in your couch or chair and is very adjustable. Most of the other stands I looked at really made you sit up over the wheel, which could not be comfortable for any long period of time. The stand with the G27 is a great combination, it's light enough to move around after use, but sturdy enough to keep everything in place even under heavy driver `input'. The pedals stay in place even when you heal toe or stamp on the brake. The finish stands up to my klutzy movements haven't marred it yet. You might find the need for a USB 2 extension if you are using this on the couch, but Amazon sells a 3 meter version for about $8.

Again, one of the great features about this stand is that it can easily be picked up and stored in the closet. When you pick it up for storage, the foot print is only as large as the pedals since the wheel / shifter bar rise up. It doesn't lock in place, but if you rest the upper end against a wall or other object it will stay in place.

Lastly, the pre and post sales support from Xlerator is wonderful. They are very response and helpful.

Overall, 5 stars for a excellent product and a great value.

I purchased this for my husband to go along with his new Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. It arrived quickly, was packaged well, easy to assemble and very well made.

Getting in and out of the chair is easy since the wheel arm pivots up to lift out of the way. It fits comfortably on our couch or recliner and really enhances game play. The frame holds the wheel and pedals in place so you actually feel like you're driving, right from your own comfy couch.

We highly recommend this. Driving games wouldn't be as realistic without it. There is a smaller (regular) version available but hubby is a big guy so we appreciate the extra room of this stand.

I reviewed this over at PS3Blog.net, since I purchased this to go with Gran Turismo 5 and the Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel. Here is the bulk of my review from that site:

The outside legs that wrap around your lap are adjustable (all the adjustments are done with spring pins that you line up with the holes). Since I have a large lap, I had to extend the legs all the way, but it still sits comfortably. You can also adjust the length of the support beam (where the lap bar connects to it) to put the foot pedals either closer to you or further out. I like the design they have with this better than a lot of the wheel stands you get at retail stores and the like (since most of them have a support beam that goes between your legs; a less than ideal setup). The only drawback would be if you use a small chair, as the outside legs are best suited for wide chairs and couches (the Big Boy has a 22 inch spread for the lap legs).

With the main support beam going out and then over to the foot pedal base, your legs are free of obstruction, which makes the driving feel more comfortable. The foot pedal itself is a flat piece of metal that, surprisingly, really holds the pedal base in place quite well. While putting it together, I did lose my footing a little bit and stepped right on it (I weigh over 350lbs), and it morphed, but it was also easily bent back into shape (the metal is still sturdy, but I'm not surprised my weight bent it like that).

Keep in mind, the wheel stand was specifically designed for the Driving Force GT, but the manufacturer does have adapters to be able to use it on other wheels (including the G27 and the 360 wireless wheel). With that said, the stand allows you to pivot the main frame back so you can easily get in and out of your chair (the base and lap bars all have rubber feet, so it doesn't slide around and is pretty stable, even in a vertical position), and to make the steering wheel setup easier. Slide the wheel over the flat wheel base plate and lock it in place.

As far as the actual racing goes and how well it works, the simple answer would be amazingly well. For being one of the cheapest stands on the market, I think it's also one of the sturdiest. No matter how high you have the force feedback settings, and how hard you play, the wheel stand stays in place (it slipped on me once at the base, mainly because the carpet is so worn out that it carries little grip, so being able to find a little bit of traction like that was a plus in my book  ).

Since it is easy to take apart and stand, storage is easily done, too. If you have enough room, you can have it rest in the vertical position in a corner, or you can take the steering wheel support/lap bars off and set those to the side to reduce space even more. Personally, I just either leave it in front of the TV, or move it into the corner of my room. The footprint is pretty small.

Even with my wide body and thick legs, the stand didn't get in the way, nor did it twist and turn while I used the wheel. It's surprising how sturdy this thing is based on how it looks (minimal parts, no flashiness). I think that alone (and being able to pivot the bars back to easily get in and out of your seating area) makes this one of the better, understated accessories out there (similar to PS3 RealTriggers, but this likely won't catch on as fast since it's aimed at a much smaller market).

Overall, though, for $120 ($99 if you get the regular sized one), this is quite a bargain if you're big into racing games and want a very sturdy, and affordable (compared to others), wheel stand.

i have been playing GT5 for the last month or so and got tired of struggling with the standard PS3 controller and decided to get the Logitech DRIVING FORCE GT wheel since the G27 isn't fully supported in GT5 the wheel itself is awesome but after using a tray table for @ a week, i needed something more solid so i bought this stand

It came very well packaged and even though the box was kinda beat (thanks UPS) the stand itself was in great condition without a scratch on it

The stand went together very easy and mounting the wheel/pedals was extremely straight forward i was a little concerned about the wobble when the wheel was mounted in the UP position but once you have it "down" in your chair or sofa this thing DOESN'T MOVE ONE BIT

the "arm" the wheel mounts to flips up so if you are playing for a long time or an endurance race & need to snack, do a bathroom run or whatever you just pause the game & flip the wheel stand up

the only complaints i have (minor ones at that)are:

1 no real way to mount the pedals to the base the instruction manual recommends either drilling through base or velcro i went with double sided 3M mounting squares in 3 places & the pedals don't move one bit

2 no way to cable maintenance all the wiring the GT wheel has alot of wiring (i need to use a USB extension cable to get to my PS3)so i would recommend going to a home hardware store and invest a few $ in black cable ties and lay out exactly where u want everything, then put a few ties around the wires & the stand takes way from the sleek look but keeps the wires out of the way while you play

i am very happy with my purchase, very stable & comfortable while playing especially during the Endurance races, quality materials & styling, with this and a Logitech GT wheel its the only way to play GT5!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU IN LIFE & RACING !

I just got Midnight Club Los Angeles Complete Edition the other day. I played the first Midnight Club for the PS One and wasn't a big fan. I didn't much care for the PSP Midnight Club either. But Los Angeles is a completely different story! I have to go to work early and I've been losing sleep because I can't put the controller down it's that much fun!

I think Need for Speed games have a lot going for them, but my big gripe has been vehicle physics and controls which are too loose, floaty, and unpredictable. Midnight Club LA is an arcade game and the physics are far from realistic, but they got the controls right! Dodging oncoming traffic at 150pmh is possible if you don't blink and long drifts around corners are easily controlable. Acceleration from a stop is a little cheesy (makes for more drama off the line when starting a race), but once up to speed the handling is smooth and responsive.

I used to live near LA so I see familiar sights when cruising or racing, which is cool. The sharp detail and high resolution world just waiting to be explored is gorgeous! What's really amazing is that, once you get into the game, there are almost no load times at all! With a high resolution, 3D world like this, that's amazing! The developers are really showcasing what the PS3 is capable of here.

This is not the first racing game to feature reputation points, but the way building reputation unlocks cooler cars and upgrades is neat and motivates you to keep racing. You don't earn large amounts of money from early races, but there are a lot of different types of races which keeps things interesting. You hit paydirt when you come across the chance to win your opponent's car, which can be sold for a lot more than you'd make from a series of races. The game seems to be structured around picking a few favorites from the available vehicles and upgrading them, rather than collecting all the cars. There is a good mix of car classes and the car models are beautiful and nicely rendered.

The upgrade system is not as in-depth as some Need for Speed games or Gran Turismo but that's fine for a game like this where fine-tuning suspension settings wouldn't produce a noticeable difference. The fact that they are there, unlockable, and make your car go faster and turn better is enough. I'm not a big fan of the vinyls but I do like the paint and wheel options, which are easy to use for giving your vehicles a unique and customized look.

The best thing about this game is the nicely detailed graphics of the open world, and outrageously challenging and fun gameplay. I lost quite a few races from slamming into traffic or just plain going too fast to avoid obstacles on the last lap of a race, but I don't mind because it's so much fun! Cutting through a corner gas station doing an 85mph drift, then blasting through the fence on the other side of the street into an ally way shortcut with your opponents reving right behind you... Now that's fun! It's like they took the best parts of Burnout: Paradise and Need for Speed and put them in one game!

Ok if you want to play the game read one of the many fine posts written by true gamers. I am not a gamer per-se. I am just a dude who has cerebral palsy, autism and a ton of other disabilities that will forever prevent me from driving a real car. Trust me save the pity party because; I honestly don't want or need it. I love my life just as it is thank you. However I always wanted to know what it was like to drive. I always wanted the experience of seeing the world from behind the wheel of a car. I always wanted to drive in a virtual environment where I could not hurt anyone while enjoying what it was like to drive.

I love this game because; it lets me drive and the experience is just life like enough to make me want to visit different parts of LA. I know it sounds sort of stupid but, driving in this game gave me a chance to feel a little closer to normal if only for just the all too fleeting time where I let myself live my driving fantasy in this virtual world. Yes the game wants you to race and the game voices are built around racing. However this game is programmed loosely enough that it lets you drive around the streets of L.A. looking at the sparkling buildings, bridges and such. The game is programmed loosely enough to just let you drive by nice houses and seedy parts of LA town too.

So many video games are so driven by their stories that they do not allow the person to just drive around. Of course I have the option to drive like a maniac or drive like Miss Daisy is in the back seat barking out orders. Sometimes I drive like a mad man and other times I drive like a gentleman of both quality and breeding. The best thing is the cars are in effect indestructable. The cars DO break down after lots of abuse but you always have the option to "Fix" them. The overall quality of the "friends you have in the game are of a thuggish gangsta playah sort". The cars are all extremely nice, sporty and powerful too. You drive during the day or night. As a dude with fairly moderate Cerebral Palsy playing video games is generally a disaster but with great effort I can generally keep the car on the road. Oh I do make some really BAD mistakes which is why I don't drive in reality. Oh I CAN AND DO drive on the sidewalk. The people in this game rarely get killed by a car because; lets face it people in LA are too kewl to be hit by any car even one driven by a reckless half blind autistic werewolf with cerebral palsy.

As a dude with cerebral palsy the main thing to remember is the primary purpose of playing any video game is to have fun. I figure if a video game can deliver on its promise of fun to all people able bodied and disabled alike then it is a true gem. This video game is a true gem because; I was not SOOOO locked or forced into completing the races that I could not just drive around and have a good time doing so. What made this game fun is that I could choose to just ride around the city and enjoy the trouble I got into. What a joy to have cerebral palsy and still DRIVE around like Joe solid citizen to see the sights OF THE great LALA aka LOS ANGELES. The graphics in the game are great. The realism of the game is first rate. I did not see any glitches or flaws at least not big ones that took away from my driving experience. For the price this game was "The Bomb Biggity!" Too bad this game does not let you just commit mindless acts of mayham from behind the wheel because it would have been so much more added fun. Yes I would have loved the opportunity to be a psycho mad driver with road rage being chased by police car and feared by pedestrians EVERYWHERE! I WOULD HAVE LOVED HEARING THE GAME'S POLICE OFFICIERS BROADCASTING THE FOLLOWING ALL POINTS BULLITIN...

ATTENTION ALL UNITS...

PSYCHOTIC INDISTRUCTIBLE AUTISTIC WEREWOLF WITH CEREBRAL PALSY RECKLESSLY DRIVING INDISTRUCTIBLE CAR. APPROACH WITH CAUTION. SUBJECT IS STONE COLD CRAZY. HE CAN NEVER DIE SO KEEP LA'S CITIZENS ON FOOT AND IN CARS SAFE... THAT IS ALL!

I am happy I brought this game. It is just plain fun even if you are so disabled you will never spend time behind the wheel of a real car. Hey this is the next best thing to real life driving. CRASH ON!

This game is closest to in terms of content is burnout paradise. Its filled with endless amount of races, every time you finish one you'll most likely get a phone call telling you there's a new race available. So you'll never have anything not to do because there not all races some of the are delivery, payback which you smash up a rivals car which might I add usually takes forever, but they're varied enough. Now how the game looks, its pretty amazing what they did the world is a living breathing L.A and all very detailed even the npc cars have enough detail to warrant just stopping to take look at their detailed car models. Soundtrack is pretty ok a couple good songs I've added to the playlist but thankfully it has custom soundtrack so its always nice to have an option to play your own music.

The difficulty in this game is insane, everything you heard about this game being difficult is true. Stay away from this game if you get easily frustrated you'll cuss this game more then any other game in your collection unless you have ninja gaiden games then forget it. AI drivers in this game is brutal they'll always beat you off the starting line unless your playing it on the easiest difficulty which this will probably wont happen. There are difficulty levels but you can't beat the game just doing the easiest races sometimes you'll have to do a hard or very hard race to continue. There is a auto-difficulty adjustment, basically whenever you lose a race the game gets easier, whenever you win it gets harder.

This is fine mechanic but its silly and how you'll most likely intent on loosing a race on purpose just to make it easy. Its not like you lose cash or reputation or your car unless its a pink slip race then you'll probably reset the console in frustration. So what it ends up to is the game forces you to drive perfectly without hitting anything but hitting traffic is something that will happen to you constantly if your rushing to get the lead, as hitting traffic will slow you down completely while spinning car the other way.

This game in general is great, but the difficulty is whats going to turn people. I'd recommend renting it and trying out if it fits your need for a arcade racer I'd say this is one of the best just don't expect an easy one though. P.S the reward for beating the story is well worth it.

The good:

-Huge city

-Lots and lots of customization

-Lots of cars

-Great races

-Huge depth, very addicting gameplay

-Great, eclectic soundtrack

The bad:

-Storyline may seem unnecessary

Overall, I've been playing this game practically nonstop. Upgrading and customizing your car never gets old. The races are fast paced and intense. Online is very well made too. Best racer this gen.

This game is way too sensitive on the G27 and over-steering makes it basically unplayable. It says it supports G27 but there is no option to turn down sensitivity either! You will find yourself trying to keep from smashing into the sides of the ways... whereas in GT5 the G27 feels like a real driving experience.

Also, the graphics is a let down. You would think this being on the PS3 and this being Rockstar that Midnight Club LA would have BETTER graphics than GTAIV... but no... it has worse graphics. In some places I could promise the graphics looks like Nintendo 64 graphics. In fact some of the "mountains" in the background have so few polygons that you'd think you were playing the original DOOM on PC.

This is definitively not an "open world driving simulator"... the driving is fake and the world is not that big nor that open. If that sandbox sort of stuff is your cup of tea, save your monies and get GTAIV instead... or wait until GTAV comes out.

I already reviewed the Limited Edition of this game but I believe this game is so great I had to review it again. First of all thank heavens for Street Fighter IV. Because of the success of that game, (yeah, go get that one too if you haven't already), the 2-D fighting genre has been revitalized. Anyway, back to the review, there are many elements to BlazBlue that make it such a great fighter. So if you wanna know why I gave this game 5 stars, read on!

First thing is the diverse cast of characters. Each character in BlazBlue plays completely different. In some games, if you've mastered one character, you've mastered half of them. This is not the case here. Aksys accomplishes this with an interesting mechanic called the Drive System. Each character's drive can be performed by simply pressing a button. This simple action opens up a wealth of possibilities. For one character, it enables you to freeze them. Another character's drive allows them to control the wind, giving you further control over your movements and even your projectiles movements. Yet another's character's will drain their opponents life and... well...you get the picture! You WILL find a character you fall in love with! I play mainly with the general who freezes and the kid vampire who controls wind. Which brings me to another point. Not only do the characters play differently they LOOK completely different too. The characters designs are completely over the top, thought not in a way which will repulse you. You do have some insane characters though. There is a scientist whose degenerated into a goo of insects, an asian doctor with huge boobs, a cat girl, and so on. Really the character designers had no problem thinking out of the box.

The second reason I love this game are the fighting mechanics themselves. BlazBlue does a couple of things to further differentiate itself from other games in it's genre. First, there is the combo system. Unlike SFIV, which to me felt like most of the combos were scripted, Blue's combo system encourages expirementation. Each combo relies on a stun value each hit produces. If you can get another move out before the character recovers, then you can create a combo. If you hit a character and create a "counter", which the game will announce, then the stun value is extended even more, letting you create some other combos not otherwise possible. Although there are some bread and butter combos, I was able to come up with some pretty awesome combos on my own, including some which takes more than half damage. I also enjoyed Blue's defense system. Instead of just holding back, you have the option of adding a barrier, which pushes back your opponents from you. You can also hit back at the moment an opponent attacks you. This gives you a shorter recovery time, allowing for some counters. And finally you have the barrier burst. The barrier burst drains all your barrier gauge, but stops any combo and pushes your opponent across the screen. This is very handy for stopping those insanely damaging combos, but leaves you in a "danger" state where you can no longer use your barrier, and you take about 25% more damage for the rest of the match.

The graphics in this game are simply phenomenal, and will appeal to those who appreciate anime and just great art in general. The characters are all high res 2-D sprites and beautifully animated. The backgrounds are combination of 2-D and 3-D and look great. As far as the music, many people have fallen in love with blue's soundtrack but apart from a few numbers, was mostly forgettable for me. As long as it didn't distract from the game, I was good. I did enjoy the sound effects though.

Finally, BlazBlue excels in it's online component. There is occasional lag but this is mostly limited to the introduction of each match. The actual matches themselves are almost flawless. Blue also lets you record your matches, and download other user's matches. A cool thing is that these are not huge video files. I believe it works by the game recording all the controller inputs, and then replaying them, thus effectively recreating the match. I'm not sure if this has been done before but I thought this was pretty clever, since this takes a minimal amount of space in your hard drive.

Wow, I could go on and on and on but I would easily double the length of this review. Blaz has multiple game modes, it looks great, and most importantly, it's just plain fun! Do yourself a favor and buy this game! Highly recommended!

I really love this game. The graphic's are great, the voice acting is great, the onlineplay is great and the story mode is great. There is nothing bad I can say about this game. I play online on this game every day. This game never gets boring to me. I play people online and its very fun. Some of them cheat but I still have fun playing. My favorite characters in this game are Ragna, Noel and Jin. All the characters are Awsome but those are my favorite ones. If you don't have this game go and buy it. It's really worth it.

I loved the Guilty Gear series more than any other fighting game franchise, and this is coming from someone who played Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown and others when they first came out, and as each series got a new title. Fighting is one of my two favorite genres of games (the other being puzzle), and even with the likes of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, Last Blade 2, Capcom vs SNK 2...Guilty Gear X2 is easily my favorite title. So when I found out that BlazBlue was to be the successor of that franchise, I got excited. The graphics were incredible, character designs looked great, gameplay was nearly identical to GG, and it had the same, deep story mode that the later GG games had. What was there to complain about? In short, nothing really, but BlazBlue just makes me wish Guilty Gear X3 had come out instead because of how similar it is.

BlazBlue plays wonderfully, and I was able to get right into the game. You have 4 standard attackslight, medium and heavy attacks, along with the Drive attack. Drive is your main special move attack that can also be used for different regular special attacks (quarter circle motions and all that). It varies for each character, like freezing the opponent, controlling wind, shooting forward, magnetizing the opponent, etc. Barrier Bursts, like the Burst feature from Guilty Gear, are used to get out of tight situations. Say your opponent has you stuck in a huge combouse the Burst and you'll break out of it, shoot them away, and have a chance to recover and get back to the action. Everyone has Distortion Drives too (again, like Overdrives in GG), and some of them are just plain gorgeous to see in motion. Instant Kills are here too, but you can't use them as freely as those in GG. See how similar this game is to Guilty Gear with how much I reference back to it? But the game's fun, and anyone with experience playing fighting games will more than likely love BlazBlue. You also gotta love the characters, like Taokaka, a kind of cat/human hybrid with a wacked out face, that only cares about food and has a great nickname for Litchi. You'll probably spend a couple of hours just enjoying seeing how the characters animate and fight. I know I did.

BlazBlue has a lot of different gameplay modes. You have the regular Arcade mode, where you go through the game as one character, taking out all the others with a little bit of story going on in the process. There's a Story mode that you can play through multiple paths with every character (kind of a Choose Your Own Adventure deal), and you'll need to play through each character's story multiple times in order to get 100%. There's also Score Attack, Training and Replay Theater...but then there's multiplayer. Trust me when I say that it's a thousand times better than the mess that was Guilty Gear X2 #Reload's online mode. You earn experience that ups your rank, and player cards show things like which character the player uses the most and more. I never had any problems with lag during gameplay but there is a little bit right before the match startsthe part when the fighters appear on-screen and when the announcer is saying her usual lines. Everything ran smooth immediately when the match started. And for trophy junkies, there are quite a few for BlazBlue, and a couple are very tricky to get.

So with all the great things in the game, why the 4 star rating? Honestly, this is more of a 4.5 star rating, but I had to round down in this case. BlazBlue is so similar to Guilty Gear, that is almost comes off as a rip-off of the series, despite being made by the same company. Many of the characters here are practically characters from GG but with different designs. Iron Tager = Potemkin, Jin = Ky, Ragna = Sol, Carl = Bridget, Arakune = Eddie, and so on. Heck, even a lot of their moves are nearly the same as their GG counterparts'. I respect them for making a new fighting game franchise, but if they had done things a bit differently, I wouldn't have felt so...well, I don't know how to describe how I feel. Again, don't get me wrong, because I love this game, but it's a little too close to GG for my tastes. But if you never played GG before, then that shouldn't be a problem.

And you know what? There's an upgraded BlazBlue title coming out in a few months, similar to Super Street Fighter 4 being the upgraded version of regular SF4. I'm hearing that it'll come out between July and October, but it's not official still. The game will feature a few more characters, re-balancing the cast, and probably a few more moves for everyone. But while BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is so cheap now, you really should pick it up so you can have a head start on the new version when that comes out. Hopefully if this franchise does well, we can get GGX3...and a true sequel for BlazBlue too :p.

Been playing it for about a week now.

The story mode is lengthy and very in-depth, which is nice for fighting games, as of late. Very high replay value. Each character is wholly unique from the others, creating a unique style of play with each time you pick up the controller.

The two-dimensional gameplay doesn't detract at all after so many fighting games played in 3-D, especially due to the uniqueness of the style and controls inherent in the game. The sprites look fantastic, and there are intricate designs and actions in each character (such as comments they make specific to other enemies during battle) that really help bring out the character's personalities.

HIGHLY recommended. I believe that, once I get the platinum trophy for this one, I'll be purchasing the sequel, even though some critiques of it make it out to be just another rendition of this game with two new characters. I simply think the game is THAT good, and cannot wait for the next full sequel.

This game is incredibly fun and rewarding if you take the time to master your character, will not go much into depth as the other reviews, but i will point one thing out the other reviewers left out, the online. Be prepared to get your ass handed to you as most of the players online just use 3 characters that are kinda unbalanced and cheap. One of them is a robot girl named V-13 which you can learn easily and just spam 3 moves over and over and over again, which is really annoying and really ruins the game for me sometimes because i have to resort to using a cheap character as well just to beat that character. I know I will be bashed for this but think about it, can you really beat v-13 or noel with hakumen?? I really like to see that, well anyways if you tend to play on a regular basis you will be okay, you been warned.

The controller is great.. My boyfriend loved it considering the Raiders are his favorite team... Die-hard fan.. poor thing (they always lose) .. but the only thing he didn't like is that this controller is battery operated and you can't charge it like you can the regular PS3 controllers. So grab some rechargeable batteries and you're good to go, otherwise you'll be buying a lot of AA batteries.

The graphics on a standard large-screen TV are not good. I have played PS3 titles on standard TV and the graphics are usually decent. This looks like a PS2 title. The hitting is semi-ridiculous. Both the CPU and human player make about a dozen circus catches a game. It is not uncommon to play multiple 2-1 games in a row, slightly ridiculous. There are also bugs galore. Instant replays that do not match what you are watching (i.e. a recap piece where a Home Run goes over the wall and the announcer says it was an inside the park HR). And of course, the game freezes. I played a 10 inning game today and it froze in the top of the 10th.

We downloaded and played this game after playing MLB 08 The Show. This game has terrible graphics, the controls aren't very good either. The pitching interface didn't even make sense. I don't know, after playing The Show this game proves how far behind it really is. 2K8 has some nice games, but the baseball is just bad and full of glitches along with fumbling controls. I agree with the first guy...much more like a PS2 game graphically. The people involved with making this game need to take a long, hard look at MLB '08 to see how a true baseball game should be made. Bad showing 2K8. Thank goodness for demos because this would be a waste of money.

Being a baseball fan I looked forward to ordering this game. I found the graphics excellent and the play rather realistic. However, the batting is the game's downfall. The batting user interface is poor and it comes down to just chance. The manual and the online reference material are useless. I discarded the game out of frustration. I would avoid this game.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a motorcyclist. I have owned several bikes including track-prepped Aprilia motorcycles that I rode at several race tracks. I have also attended MotoGP races in-person. This game was auditioned via a full HD video projector on an 84" screen with a full 5.1 surround sound system.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to try this game before purchase. I wasted $40 buying MotoGP 09/10 last year and was greatly disappointed. This year's version is no different. The software persons that develop this game need to go back and revisit the 08 version which was excellent. The bikes in the newer games don't behave like real motorcycles. Side-to-side weight shifting to turn the bike left or right causes the bike to pivot in the wrong place. The weight transfer is exaggerated causing the bike to weave. High-performance bikes at speed (especially lightweight race bikes) flick side-to-side without much effort. This sense of flickability was captured very well (without a cartoony arcade feel) in the 08 version of the game. Also, the 08 game had accurate bike sounds. The latest games make the roaring MotoGP bikes sound like weed-wackers. To me, the graphics of the newest 09/10 and 10/11 games look unrealistic like over-processed HDR photographs.

I would implore Capcom to go back to the graphics and sound and physics of the 08 game and simply add the new racers and the new race classes: Moto2, etc..

Best regards to the people of Capcom Japan who were affected by the recent earthquake.

Bought this game a few days ago and what a MAJOR disappointment! Absolute , total, garbage if I may pay a complement to its makers. Trust me, a lot of pink slips need to be handed out, top to bottom. Never, ever, will I purchase another Capcom game unless I can see what its like before hand. Have none of the folks at Capcom played their competitors MotoGP games of yrs gone by until now?

Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to try it out before buying.

Is this 2011 or 1999 when arcade style was the best on offer? I ditto the remarks made by most reviewers. How can a manufacturer justify selling a game that in no way simulates the mechanics of riding a motorcycle.

Two thumbs down!!!
