Along with the third game this is one of the few rpgs I consistently go back to playing every now and again. Unlike the other various atelier games, you aren't punished in this one by time constraints so you are welcome to farm as many materials for alchemy as you want to.

There isn't anything too amazing about the stories in either game, but it is the combat system that really hooks you. Not enough jrpgs have a fun turn based battle system. They use a battle gauge that fills up on regular attacks and you spend it for more powerful attacks or spells. On top of the decision making that requires, the turn order gauge also plays an important role. Higher speed determines how fast you move to the right side of the bar for your turn to be had. Pushing the enemies back to the far left side of the bar with a break attack stuns them and allows for an auto crit on them. Since break attacks cant build up the attack gauge, you have to balance out each players turn to figure out how best to beat each boss.

Since then i've enjoyed other games with this sort of shared system in place. I highly recommend arc rise fantasia if you like this combat style. It is another hidden gem with one of the best story lines i've ever played.

I wanted to get this game since I played the demo and it's a lot of fun. The graphics and voice acting are above average, the story is entertaining, and dialogue is a little cheesy, but it's bearable. The best thing about the game is the different supernatural powers that the team members have. Some are more efficient to use than others, and you'll probably use your favorite 2-3 members for most of the game (most likely Church, who uses a one-hit kill sword, and Delgado who uses fire and a minigun). The weapons are usual FPS machine guns, pistols, snipers, etc. Each member has their own personality, which helps keep the game fresh. The ultimate rental. I don't suggest buying it due to lack of multiplayer and a short campaign. Squeamish people, STAY AWAY!

EditedI haven't been able to play this game in a while, but I picked it up again recently. I haven't gotten too far into the game when I reviewed it, but having played it furthur, I have found many faults that I didn't notice before. The main and most frustrating one is the lack of any sort of intelligence whatsoever from your teammates. They rarely use cover, and when they do they use it incredibly poorly. They usually stand in the same spot all clumped together in a group firing at the same enemy while ignoring the other ones. They never back away from enemies that are charging at them, not even the ones who explode when they get near you. As a result, they are CONSTANTLY dieing, making you revive them constantly. This becomes even more frustrating when the squad gets split up since you have to pay extra attention to make sure that those guys don't die. One part of the game is so excruciatingly difficult that I have almost given up on beating the game. Which is a darn shame since I'm loving the wacky storyline.

I played Jericho for the PS3 and bought I because I enjoyed the demo and was despirate for a FPS for the PS3.

The good:

Its fun

Difficulty settings are appropriate

Graphics are cool

Controller is easy to learn

The bad:

At times too dark to see your surroundings

Short

Game favors some characters with certain powers

Not as interactive as other next gen games (can't jump or pick up items)

The only flaw this game has is that there is no multiplayer or co-op options. Otherwise the game has great graphics, an intriguing story, and awesome weapons and powers.

When I started this game I went in with a bad attitude from the beginning due to all the bad reviews. The game starts off a little slow but as you go on it gets better and better. I'm done with the game and I liked it a lot. Make your own decision about the game.

Want Clive Barker's Jericho Discount?

The main reason I purchased this game is that I am a huge Clive Barker fan! I've read all the Books Of Blood, Hellbound Heart, and Cabal. Hellraiser was the first horror film I found to be simply beautiful and grotesque at the same time. It was hard for me to stay away from the graphics of this game. Only, when game play started... it was not your traditional FPS.

Jericho doesn't disappoint with it's beautiful design! Each and every detail int he characters and playfield have been detailed to an unreal degree. This makes the game beautiful to watch and gawk at. The levels and missions are short... leaving even the busiest gamer time to fly though a mission before heading out Friday night, going to the office, or even the family guy, playing with the kids. Only, some missions require more thought than others....

Let the frustration begin...

Your Squad has a multitude of skills... each one will need to use them among different points of the game. Generally, I avoided playing Father Rawlings because he's a healer and can heal from a distance... My issues? Sometimes you need to use these skills and there is little hint to when! ie. I fought a Lichthammer for 20 minutes before I thought of using Church's blood to bind her... as soon as I did that the fight was over. So 20 minutes of nothing! I could have spent 40 doing it, having no idea. Same with huge beasts in another level where once again Church was needed. Seems Church, the character I like to play second least, is constantly needed to do things.... yet there is little hint to the need of the character. This is frustrating.

Next.... and the most annoying thing that made me want to sell this game the minute I started to play... (along with other reviews) The squad is downright dumb! Each one gets killed much too easily... and it happens often. I spend more time healing my crew than I do fighting monsters. Especially with the suicide bomber monsters. Frankly, there is nothing more annoying than watching someone play a game and never getting to try it out... that's the way I feel on certain parts of this game. I run around healing people more than I get to destroy monsters because the darn squad will jump out like it's a surprise birthday party for the enemy and never take enough cover. BTW, having a crouch button would have been nice! They have multiple levels with debris you can hide behind but what good is it if you stand up to get shot.

Needless to say I give the game a 3 only because it's been the most beautiful horror first person shooter I've ever seen. Final note... some of the fun of a FPS is exploration. Also, picking up items or power ups, secrets, ect... Not in this game. There is no way to explore. Only one way to go. No open roads or ways to get lost. You have a driven linear path!

If you're a Clive Barker fan or like horror to the extreme this is a must but be ready for frustration. It's very unorthodox of other FPS and you'll be healing your squad allot instead of fighting. Just remember that the levels are short enough that redoing them from a check point isn't so bad. I like to collect games of this nature but, I'm not sure I'll hold onto this or not. I love the graphics and violence but, I think this game is going to drive me to need medication. It only needed a few more things to make it a 5 star game!

3 Stars, for great graphics and some fun...

I mainly wanted to point out, to those looking for the same solution as I was, that this charger WILL accept two Move Motion Controllers. That is not clear from the photo or product description, to date. Many of the chargers I researched (including one that I ordered prior to this one and had to return because the item description was so vague) only take ONE Move Motion Controller and ONE Move Navigation Controller.

In general, it's a good charger and I'm pleased that I purchased it. It seems solidly built and you don't have to futz TOO much to get it to couple with a controller (though practice will clearly make perfect, especially with the Move controllers).

The blue lights (or red when charging) aren't overly bright (like some complained about with other chargers I read about), but I suppose that can be a subjective thing.

I was pleasantly surprised upon realizing the stand is designed in 3 separate pieces the center section and (x2) side Move controller chargers. I only have a single Move controller so opted to only insert one side unit. Curious to know if the charger could also be used as a display stand, I contacted Memorex Tech Support. They sent me a reply stating "Please don't leave the battery on the charger after they are fully charged, the battery may overheat and become defective." Kinda disappointed about that aspect but assume this is the case for all charger stands.

The Memorex PS3 Charging Kit is Great. Keeps 4 units fully charged and they can be left in on trickle charge without damaging the units. It is a bit tricky at first docking the controllers to the charger, but after a few tries you get the hang of it. Nice unit, looks cool, doesn't take up too much space.

Works just fine! No problems at all with it. I think it was significantly cheaper than the Sony's chargers, so I took a gamble. It charges up very well. And it even has ports so you can charge your other electronic toys.

I was pleasantly surprised: the charger came in a nice packaging and looks very good in person. It is not cheap looking has a nice weight and sits sturdy on flat surfaces thanks to the rubber backing on the bottom. Another surprise: The chargers for Move controllers can be detached separately if you don't need any one of them or both. Inserting the controllers into the right spot can be a bit challenge in the beginning since you cannot really see where the connectors meet as you mount them but after a couple of tries it's all good! No wobbly parts. Definitely worth purchasing.

I have never written a review on Amazon...ever, and I buy stuff from here all of the time, but this product impressed me so much that I wanted to share my experience with you and recommend you give it a try.....so here we go. I ordered a set of the Vipr Black FPS Freek for my PS3. They arrived today and I placed one on my right analog stick, the one you aim with ;). It was a little awkward feeling at first because I wasn't used to having my thumb so high up, however when I tried moving the stick around a little before actually jumping into any gameplay it felt so smooth and drastically different. It took about half of a game of Hardcore TDM on MW2 to get fully used to using it. I always play on insane sensitivity (10) because I like the ability to turn faster, the FPS Freek helps to control the slower turns while still giving you the ability to spin like a tornado if you want to. After a few hours with it my accuracy has already gone up from 18.03% to 19.33% which may not seem that impressive to a casual gamer, but that is a huge leap in a FPS especially for such a short period of time. It feels like its built pretty solidly and its definitely comfortable, it was a little difficult to snap on at first just because the analog kept rolling and it would snap on crookedly. I gave my other one to my brother for him to use on his 360 as this product fits both the 360 and the PS3 controller. I am definitely looking forward to his feedback since we are both avid gamers. The Vipr Black color is nice, its just all black which matches my controller better than the white one which is why I bought it and it matches my brother's CoD controller as well. I seriously think this is the best peripheral I have ever bought for a game system other than a second controller. For the more than casual gamer that prefers to play FPS I would whole heartedly recommend this product especially when a $10 item can do so much for you and a friend or your second controller. I hope you found this review helpful, if you have any questions about my experiences with it I'd be glad to help out.

First off I want to start off by saying my wife laughed at me when I told her that I was ordering thumb extensions. I know that's not what they are called but that is the easiest way to describe them. I got them in yesterday and I used them last night. They installed with no issues in under 30 seconds and are very secure on my controller. At first I thought that it was going to raise them to much, but as I started to play I realized they did nothing but improve my game play. I've only played Call of Duty: Black Ops with them and it improved everything from sniper use to the control of the M60. Great product. As a note. I have very small hands and I was worried about having to reach to far to use them and hand fatigue, but it's actually much more comfortable.

Bad Company 2 is my game. I play it on xbox and I play it religiously. I though these were kind of funny at first and purchased it as more of a joke to show some friends, but now I love them.

By extending the stick height with FPS Freek there are two major bonuses as far as I can tell;

1. A larger field to move the stick over.

2. Easier movement of the stick. (allowing you to be more precise)

Though the pack comes with two I only use one on the right stick. I increased BC2's sensitivity slightly more than what it would be for the relative increase in stick height, meaning I had to grasp an increase in sensitivity. The slight difference in ease of stick movement makes it easy to grasp. It took an hour or two of game play and some fiddling with the sensitivity but in the end it was worth it.

I am a long time BC vet (PC 1942 to present console) so I was already doing pretty good. While an increase in precision has definitely helped, the noticeable difference for me has been in the close quarters firefights, ESPECIALLY when you find yourself passing someone on a corner or turning to shoot someone behind. The added sensitivity lets you turn exceptionally fast and as a result I am able to win a lot more of those occasional situations. It is almost comical when your opponent is slowly trying to face you while you are circle strafing him.

Even if you only increase the sensitivity relative to the added height you still gain a bonus by getting some more play on the outsides.

These aren't epic game changers, and they aren't a necessity to playing well, but the difference is noticeable and my kill/death ratio has improved as a result.

[Story:]

Rise of the Argonauts takes place in Ancietn Greece, when the gods walked among humans and all manners of beasts roamed the lands. A place where the line between reality and dream seem to blur together and make anything possible. And that is, in fact, the premise of this entire game: Doing the impossible.

You play as the mythic figure, Jason. King of Iolcus and Warden of Zeus, it is Jason's task to defend his island home from all threat. But when his wife, Alceme, is assassinated by a mysterious figure, grief overwhelms him and he decides to cast his duty aside for a greater purpose: to bring his wife back from the dead.

He denies his wife her last rites, the one thing that will grant her safe passage to the sacred fields of Elysium (Ancient Greece's Heaven). After receiving the blessing of his four patron gods, (Ares, God of War; Hermes, God of Wit and Literature; Apollo, God of the Sun and Athena, Goddess of Justice and Virtue), he sets sail with his friend and son of Zeus, Hercules, aboard the Argo, a revolutionary ship made by master craftsman Argos. Through these four gods Jason draws his strength throughout the adventure.

Jason needs answers, and the one person that he can think of that deals in answers is the one and only Oracle of Delphi. After finding his way and reaching the Oracle he discovers that in order to get the Golden Fleece, he would need the blood of gods, Ares, Hermes and Athena in the mortal realm. Three islands have the mortal representatives of the gods, Mycenae (Ares), Saria (Hermes) and Kythra (Athena).

So, Jason continues the journey to the three islands and, in the meantime, discovers a plot by the dark titaness Hecate's followers, the Blacktongues, to raise their fallen queen and retake Greece back from the gods of Olympus, and Jason has to find a way to stop them, along with obtaining the Fleece.

[Combat:]

Rise of the Argonauts' combat varies. The system itself is solid. You have four weapons to use: Mace, Sword, Spear and Shield and each weapon corresponds with a certain god. Mace Ares, Sword Hermes, Spear Athena and Shield Apollo. Each weapon, excluding the Shield, has a set of both standard moves and special moves. The mace can smash the ground and create a shockwave to knock back enemies, the sword can perform a dash attack where you close the distance between an enemy instantly, and the spear can be thrown for ranged kills. Those are only an example of the special moves.

But the system's execution is somewhat flawed. It might not be as elegant as the new Prince of Persia's system, but it is in no means a button-masher. You can string together wounding attacks and execution attacks to varying effects, as well as being able to swap between weapons mid-combo for extra damage.

(Ex. You're fighting an opponent with a spear and shield. You draw your mace and begin hammering away at his shield. The shield holds for the first two attacks, then the enemy seizes the opening and attacks with his spear. You block with your shield, then bash it forward into him, knocking him back. You swing your mace once more and the shield breaks, then, with the push of a button, switch to your sword, where you take advantage of the enemy not having a shield and decapitate him with a single spinning stroke.)

It takes some time to learn to string together attacks, but once you learn, it becomes pretty fun. But, in the beginning, it is a button-masher.

[Deed System:]

The major draw of Rise of the Argonauts, aside from the new take on a classic myth and the action fighting, is the new 'Deed System.' When traveling on your journey and speaking with different people, you will be able to respond any of four ways that follow the paths of the gods that watch over you. You can respond aggressive and head-strong for Ares, sly and witty for Hermes, compassionate and caring for Apollo, and virtuous and just for Athena.

Every response directed in the gods' path give you a little more favor with them and every thing you do can be dedicated to each of the gods for different skills and powers. Let's say you kill 25 men/soldiers, you might see something to the effect of 'Manslayer II' run across the bottom left of the screen. Then, when at a shrine, you can take that deed and give it to any of the gods, no matter the type of deed, in exchange of favor for new skills and powers.

One of the good things about this system is that it doesn't restrict you to choosing one way if you only want to follow a single god. Like answering a question in the response of Ares when you try to mainly follow Hermes. The only thing that happens is that you get points for Ares instead of Hermes for that response, no harm done. I would actually encourage responding how you actually would to the situation. Back-talking mercenaries getting on your nerves? Choose Ares and punch them in the face. Or, choose against your nature and go with Apollo and try to solve the problem without hostility.

All the system wants from you is to choose, and be comforted in the fact that no choice is the wrong choice.

[Overview:]

Rise of the Argonauts, though flawed in minor ways, is still a solid and fun experience that I would recommend to anyone that loves: a)Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology, b)a good action-RPG, c)a harrowing tale of love and heroism, or d) all of the above.

Enjoy.

Ever wonder what God of War would have been like if Nintendo made it?

You'd get something like Rise of the Argonauts. This game feels like 70 percent The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and 30 percent is a PG-13-rated version of God of War. There is some blood and dismemberment. This is not a bad thing. It is just how I perceive the overall feeling of this game.

I was very excited to play this game when screen captures started showing up in gaming magazines in the months leading up to its release. Those pics prove the art design is great. But, seeing the game in motion is another story. The game lacks a lot of polish. Animations are clunky and frequent slow downs give the game a "still in beta testing" vibe. This sucks some of the life out of what should have been a "can't miss" adventure game.

The back of the box claims the game is an RPG adventure. It would be more accurate to say it is an RPG lite adventure. You earn experience through how you react to various situations. Your reactions will earn you favor with one of four different gods to power up your character. Each area in the game is divided into combat and a bunch of RPG-style fetch quests. I found myself running around doing said fetch quests, more often than fighting off monsters. The story is interesting enough to tie it all together.

The game takes rather uncreative liberties with Greece myths. The basic framework of the myths you are familiar with is there. It is just that the designers flattened out the details to make the background myths feel bland.

None the less. If you like greek mythology, then give Rise of the Argonauts a try. It is easy to overlook the game's shortcomings. It is a great game with some sub-par production value issues. I suggest renting this game more than buying it.

Buy Rise of the Argonauts Now

Before I say anything about the game, I must warn everyone.. If you don't like a long story, and lots of reading, than this game will seem tedious to you. As for me, I thought the story and the game as a whole was extremely well done and very refreshing.

Rise of the Argonauts is based on the story of King Jason and his quest for the Golden Fleece. His kingdom of Iolcus is infiltrated, and his wife is assassinated. With this, he sets out for the Golden Fleece with his friend Hercules, to try and bring his wife back from the dead. With many plot twists and choice options, I found this game to be captivating and engaging. You get to make choices, and depending on which choice you make, you are aligned with a certain God: Ares, Apollo, Hermes, and Athena. Codemasters has put in a lot of work in researchging the background story, making a few changes here and there, making it hard to put the controller down. The game itself is about 15-20 hours, and although the action is sparse, I thought it was a lot of fun.

This game is a MUST have for greek mythology lovers, but once again, if you don't like reading, because you will have to run around and talk to many villagers etc., then this game is not for you. But they usually all tie into the story so you get the whole picture, so that's the way I played it. But in the end, I gave it a 5.... out of 5.

The camera angle and gameplay will take some getting used to. But once you figure out how to use the maps and orient yourself, it's a highly-rewarding game. Set in Ancient Greece, the storyline of course borrows heavily from Greek mythology which is alot of fun if you have background with the source material. The combat is pretty straightforward. You have a few moves and combos that you use during fights and there's the usual determination of the enemy's weaknesses during boss battles. However, the real strength of this game is the gorgeous graphics: it's a pleasure to look at. Much of the adventuring involves meeting important characters, making key decision, and completing side quests. Slow-paced, almost like an RPG. But pretty much playable for anyone, as my wife has been playing it quite a bit in the last week. Not for you if you want a hack-and-slash God of War clone. Definitely it's own thing here, but recommended.

Want Rise of the Argonauts Discount?

I'm not an experienced gamer (to be honest, all I have played during the last 20 years I'm 35 is Chess, on the computer). Before that, between ages 11-15, I played some Battle Chess, Elite (space simulator) and Test Drive on the computer, and some of the old games of the late 80's, like the first Super Mario on Nintendo. On the previous Atari-like consoles, I never played nothing more elaborated than River Raid or Enduro. That's it! I bought my first 21st century video-game console (Playstation 3) less than a month ago, thinking more about my 5-year old son. So, my opinions and standards will probably differ from those of more experienced gamers, but I think they're legitimate too. So, here's what I think:

Last night I beat the game, after playing it over a little more than 2 weeks, almost every night. I guess now I am entitled to opine on its qualities and faults. Right away, I must say that I was hooked from the beginning, remain a fan after beating it and will certainly play it again soon. The graphics are very, very good, the reconstruction of ancient mythological times is perfect, specially temples and statues. It's a visually beautiful game. I felt like I was there! For instance, one night I was playing alone in the living-room, I was on Kythra, and at some time it actually got kind of creepy, so realistic was the combination of the desolate scenery of Kythra with the eerie background music by Tyler Bates, which, by the way, is awesome!

I've seen that many of the complaints are against the fights, which are said to be very easy and also scarce. I don't agree with that. First, if you're more of a hack-and-slash gamer, than this game is actually not for you. You have a bit of it in this game too, but you gotta remember that this is a role-playing game, a quest-game. So, the fights must make sense and fit into the storyline, not overwhelm it. After all, it's not about fighting only, which is cool, but it's about recreating a mythical adventure and atmosphere. It's about making decisions, about strategy. In that sense, the game is very smart, because it stresses on the usages and on the way of living of the characters of that mythological time. Secondly, you have three levels in the game: human (easy), hero (medium) and legend (difficult), so if you want an extra challenge, just turn to legend mode. I played the beginning of the game on the hero level up until the fight against Phaedon on Kythra (I decided to go to Kythra first, then Saria and Mycenae). But that fight was so annoying and difficult, that I had to turn to human mode, and even then, I only won after I consulted a walkthrough on the internet that provided me with the best combat strategy to beat Phaedon. After that I remained on human (easy) mode till the end of the game and am not ashamed to say that I consulted again the walkthrough for the fights against Medusa (on Kythra), Nessus (on Saria), Achilles (on Mycenae) and Pelias (on Iolcus). On Tartarus, you get to fight so much that you actually get tired, then when I saw that the fight against the spirits of Nessus and Hep'Naje (whom I had fought and defeated previously on Saria) was optional, I simply let them get away and went on my way.

I have only two complaints, which do not, in my opinion, harm the gameplay or your ability to enjoy it, though I admit are kind of a nuisance: first, the background music, despite being so beautiful and enthralling, is very loud. Many times during the game it gets a little hard to hear dialogues (or maybe I have listening problems and don't know about it!). And secondly, which I admit can be such a pain, is the fact that when you die or want to quit the game, you can only save it up until your last checkpoint. That is the only lame thing in this game, the only one! Because of that, for example, when I was trying to battle Phaedon on Kythra, and that made me die countless times(!), because for me it was a difficult fight, I always had to go back to the previous checkpoint which meant that I had to endure over and over again the time-consuming interactive debate that takes place between Jason and Phaedon before the latter bursts into anger and the fight begins. Other than these two aspects, I found no bugs or any other faults in the game.

In conclusion, it's a great game and well deserving of five stars! I also bought the official strategy guide, in order to prepare myself to play the game all over again, this time on legend mode.

i really enjoyed this game, i have an American ps3 system. and this Japanese copy plays fine. i have not been able to play anyone online yet, neither can i read most of the story. there is A LOT of story you must go through if you want to unlock the extra characters. about 30 % of time is fighting. 70% is reading text. you must complete story with all characters to unlock secret characters. this game is very similar to the super smash bros genre. multiple platforms, 4 player simultaneous play, but there are only 2 buttons used to fight, square is used to do a light attack, and triangle is used to do a hard attack, if you press different directions with the triangle you will do a special move, for instance... up triangle, towards opponent triangle, and down triangle. the secret hidden characters are just modified or "ex" versions of original characters. with the game play, you have a super bar that fills up to do super moves. supers require half a bar, special supers require a full bar. you can only have one full bar at a time. if there are 2 vs 2, each team does share a bar. you do not get your own personal bar. so your friends can easily waste your finisher. finishers are as follows... half bar super hold R1 and press square (light attack). full bar super hold R1 and press triangle (hard attack). you can also get your bar to auto charge. the way to do this is to strike crystals placed on various platforms. if you can strike all of them, they will turn your team color, either red or blue, and you will have an auto charging bar. to play successfully on teams, you should come up with a team strategy. or else, you'll never save bars or get all the crystals your color for auto charge. the way to win is by getting the center bar your team color. if you get a kill your bar fills up some, if you get killed it drains. the roster is very small, i believe 12 people. but its very fast paced fighting game. if you can get past the japanese language barrier you might really enjoy this game.

I absolutely love this game. It is packed with new content from JK Rowling, and it delivers it in a fresh, exciting way. Hold your Move controller, and on screen it turns into a wand. The plain blue book appears on screen as an ancient spellbook. Turn the pages and watch animations appear as you learn to cast spells with your wand controller. You learn incantations, methods, and origins of the spells, and then you get to practice them before taking a test that requires you to use all of the spells learned so far.

The good things about it:

-You can log in using your Pottermore account, and access your own wand and house.

-There are about 20 spells to learn, some of which are new.

-The tests are incredibly fun, and feature a number of magical creatures.

-It was written by JK Rowling!!

-You can choose whether or not you want the narrator to read the book aloud to you.

-It is very interactive, and unlike anything that has ever been done before.

The bad things about it:

-There is no replay value. Once you work your way through, there is nothing else to do.

-You need a lot of lighting in your room, otherwise the game will glitch.

-The text that you are required to read sometimes seems a bit tedious, and it takes a long time, especially when all you want to do is just cast the spells.

-There is no free play mode to just cast spells.

-There is no multiplayer.

This game is seriously so much fun, and the technology is state of the art. Hopefully there will be a sequel with improvements, seeing how this is the first, and as of now, only, title for the Wonderbook.

You are wandering around the restricted section in the library at Hogwarts when you happen upon a book of spells written by the famous witch, Miranda Goshawk. This will be your start in becoming a true wizard at Hogwarts.

Wonderbook: Book of Spells takes you through an augmented reality world of being in Hogwarts as a new student where you will learn all the spells required to become a great wizard.

The game is split up into five chapters with each one having two sections where you will learn anywhere from one to three spells. The book will explain how the spells were created in charming stories that will be told as a pop up book on screen. After all the spells are learned in a chapter you will be given the task of using all of the spells in the chapter to complete a task. Once the final task is completed you will also be given a rhyming conundrum to listen to which is regarding the skills required to become a great wizard.

The game is fairly easy to use with the PlayStation Move and Eye. The game recommends having you sit on the floor in front of your TV cross legged with the Wonderbook placed in front of you. You will then use the PlayStation Move Controller as your wand to cast spells with.

I don't have the ideal setup since my TV is above waist height and my chair is only a few feet away from my TV. I was able to place the Wonderbook on my lap and still use it rather well though. It does make casting spells with the Move controller somewhat difficult though since my arm was so close to the Wonderbook.

Another feature that Book of Spells offers is that if you have a Pottermore account then you are able to connect it with the game and your house along with your wand will transfer over. I do not have a Pottermore account so I was not able to see how well this feature operates with the game though.

Overall I have greatly enjoyed Wonderbook: Book of Spells so far and I would recommend it to fans of the Harry Potter universe or someone who is just wanting a new and interesting game to try out with the PlayStation Move. The game might be aimed at a younger audience but can still be enjoyed as an adult as well.

I bought this game for my 7 and 9 year old kids for Christmas because they love all things Harry Potter. However, this game has been a pretty big dud around the house. Some reasons include:

(1) It's only one player so they can't play with each other or with friends.

(2) You have to follow the game script throughout. There is no free play, exploring or creativity allowed.

(3) The game was super easy for them to win and since there's no free play then it is basically over. No need for them to play again. And they haven't.

(4) Only movements are required to cast the spells so the pronunciation is pointless. Once the kids figured that out they rarely care about speaking the spells. Yet another limitation of the game.

In short, I wouldn't waste my money on this game. The initial promise of an original use of the move controller proved shallow and uninspiring.

I've been using this for a few weeks now, and I'm quite pleased with my purchase. It's incredibly convenient for charging purposes and looks really nice on my shelf. If you own both Xbox 360 and PS3 then It's cheaper to purchase one of these multi platform pyramid chargers than to buy two seperate ones for each system.

The pyramid was much lighter than I expected but it does it's job and I'm sure glad I bought it. Aside from color It doesn't seem to differ from the slightly cheaper model, but I thought the silver looked nice and I have a soft spot for "Limited Edition" accessories.

The product is just as describe. I had a charger before, but wanted something more aesthetic. The design and look is great. The package and product was not damaged and nothing was missing. The price you pay I belive is for the design. I had separate chargers for both systems controllers. Now, All in One. Great product and very happy with this purchase. Delivery was very quick.

Despite low expectations of this character mash-up RPG, I'm giddy to be able to summarize it in one word-"Fun". This is a rarity these days, no matter what you play.

Like a number of NIS titles or mash-up crossover-type games, expect nothing to make any sense. On paper, the story sounds serious (and it does need a serious resolution), but the presentation and direction taken with the characters is entirely absurd ...in a good way. All the better, there are 2 entirely different storylines and you get your pick of protagonists. This is similar to Mana Khemia 2, where despite the different paths, you get goofy cast members either way and eventually everyone will end up working together at the finish. A second play was more enjoyable for me, as I could see all the times I'd bumped into or battled the other party, and could see a few sneaky points where the plots were weaved together.

As is finally the expected for JRPGs, everything is offered in eye-popping and excitable (if not a little stiff) 3D models. Instead of an "open world" format, Trinity Universe is the "hub" type of RPG where you'll be sent out to various dungeons and always come home to the same place. The story actually ties into this and offers a nice sense of progression despite never actually going anywhere.

I cannot speak highly enough about the cast of characters, and feeding on their energy alone is more than enough to slide through the game. All are simply absurd and quirky in his/her own way and are incredibly hard to explain. An alchemist that only eats and battles with carrots, a pop idol convinced she's an assassin, and a ghost that joins the group so she can kill foes to 'make new friends' (as ghosts) are among the offerings. Each of the storylines has several special party members, and several are shared are can be picked up on either route. One might be worried upon seeing a trio of recurring NIS characters from the Disgaea series appearing in an otherwise all-new game reality, but they're even more lovable and silly as ever. Fans of the underdog would-be hero Prinny character will be glad to know that Trinity Universe is yet another step forward in removing them from being nothing more than a gimmick/sidekick character. The 'fallen angel' Flonne absolutely steals the show on personality. Despite being recycled and even if knowing her past, it's impossible not to laugh whenever she speaks, and even after hearing her various battle cries a thousand times they still had me giggling every time. It must be experienced to really understand.

Cutscenes and dialogue sections are SIGNIFICANTLY evolved here versus any other JRPG to date. Instead of a still 2D graphic of a character appearing on the screen when they speak, these are replaced by a multi-layered semi-animated 2D model, where it's possible to see movement (such as, hair moving around, or clothing adjusting shape). Mouths are now also animated as characters speak, and adding these changes makes the game feel a lot more alive and energized. I wouldn't have thought a change from the 'static' graphic style would make this huge of a difference. Over 50-100 hours I suppose it does add up.

In closing, this is more than worth a purchase from fans of the genre and/or NIS titles. It bends and tweaks the standard formula in a whole lot of areas, yet somehow pulls it off from every angle. The cutscenes, 3D modeling, soundtrack, cast, humor, battle system, equipment system, etc.; All of it feels like a completely natural evolution of those familiar from other RPGs. Just sit back, let the silly bits of story play out, enjoy what's handed to you and you'll have a great time. Personally, I was so lost in the fun that by the end I'd completely forgotten that there were 2 stories to play! This game will surely go under-appreciated because of its small demographic, and it is something that a far wider audience could enjoy.

Graphics:

Trinity Universe is in full 1080p 3D. By comparison to Cross Edge, which I feel is fair to say this game spiritually succeeds, I hesitate to say that graphically it has improved. Despite a clear level of sharpness to the game the look is rather uninspired. Many of the enemies and animations are effectively drawn straight from Cross Edge, and they look well enough I suppose, but on the whole there is an exclusion of fine detail and variety to the general look of the game that lends to an overall bland presentation. It's serviceable to the game no doubt, and usually I'm not a stickler for graphics, but it is disappointing that rather than having pretty impressive 2D graphics this game opted for a very stale and rudimentary 3D approach.

General:

The game in my simplest way of putting it is a bit like a turn-based dungeon crawler. You board these objects which dangerously orbit your home world out in the Netherverse and battle your way through a dungeon in order to disrupt their gravitational orbit and fling them out in to space. While this isn't the case with all of the dungeons the design is still effectively the same, grab for loot, slay some monster, reach the end of the dungeon.

Throughout dungeons you'll find an abundance of loot just hanging out on the ground. This loot will periodically respawn randomly as well. Within these dungeons are various hidden items and objectives. These can be rare items, schematics for `managraphics', the gravitational control for the dungeon, or an enemy nest of sorts. You have a search function to find these hidden objectives which will reveal any of these things in immediate proximity to you or shoot a colored line in the direction of such a hidden objective. The more you search the better your search function becomes but it has been pretty fool proof so far. You're given limited uses based on your search level but I have yet to need my full amount for any given dungeon.

The enemy nest things, called hunts, when revealed allow you to fight a string of monsters. Upon clearing the string the node disappears leaving a chest behind and you are granted immunity from being randomly attacked for the (long) duration of the buff. This is quite nice if you just want to tool around looking for treasure.

Should you linger in a dungeon too long, or in the event you destroy its gravity node, the dungeon will begin to `drift'. While the dungeon is drifting rare items will begin to spawn around the dungeon. Sounds great right? Well it is cool but on the downside once you start to drift you have a limited amount of time to get to the exit as well. Generally it's a pretty comfortable amount of time to walk away with some solid loot but it is still advised that you get out. If you can't make it out in time you are cast out in to orbit with the dungeon. I personally haven't tested this yet but the game suggests that you're basically stuck there until you're rescued and that the subsequent rescue is costly.

Finally some dungeons have very powerful enemies which will randomly attack you. You'll see a dark mist creep up on you in the event that the `lurker' as they're called is on to you and that's most likely your queue to run. Unless you over-level an area pretty substantially chances are the lurker will flatten you. Defeating a lurker obviously yields great rewards as well as giving you a completion bonus on the dungeon, but they shouldn't be taken lightly.

Finishing dungeons awards points toward an overall accrued value and these can be submitted to an online leaderboard as well as progress your "dungeon level" which allows you to travel to higher level versions of the dungeons which are available at the time.

Combat:

Combat, to the game's credit, is very deep. In battle you are allotted a set amount of action points per turn which can be spent on attacks, `spells', or stocked for later use. Individual characters have personal combos using various combinations of light, heavy, and ranged/magical attacks which result in more powerful abilities. In addition to these personal skills there is also a selection of other more general combos that characters for the most part all have access to at any given time. These combos can be intermingled to basically get double duty out of your action points should you find some overlap in their sequences. Individual character's actions can also be strung together by initiating a combo with another player before finishing up. On a basic level this allows you to carry over your hit and damage counter from the previous character's action in addition to granting a seemingly random buff during the switch. Under certain circumstances, which as far as I can tell results from stringing together long individual combos, team combo attacks can be activated.

Aside from the basic combo system, which is the meat and potatoes of your battles, there are equippable spells and skills which can also be used. These come in the form of the item command, escape command, healing spells, enemy debuffs, player buffs, and basically anything which you would probably consider supplementary. The lowest level of these may simply be used by hitting O but higher level abilities, or those equipped to higher level slots, require a period of charging the O button all the while consuming your AP. These all typically take a large chunk of your overall AP.

As you battle you also slowly fill little globes around your AP gauge called the Image gauge. These orbs power some rather potent abilities but even there you have options. A minimum of two globes can be used to unleash a character's super attack with devastating results as expected, but individual globes can be used to either heal or shield your party. Early on you won't get too much use out of these but towards the end of the game you'll definitely be seeing these on bosses and frequently enough on standard fights.

One downside I have encountered with the combat is the feel of its implementation. It's lacking the visceral impact the combat in other similar titles manages to relay. While I can't put my finger on it there's some combination of timing, graphics, and sound not coming together quite right which makes the combat feel unfortunately soft.

When the dust settles:

Outside of battle and dungeons you'll spend your time basically waiting for story events to come up so that you can move on. There's a timed aspect of the game so things eventually become available as you complete dungeons and various other events. You may also simply sleep at an Inn to force time forward. The story is told through little blocks of conversation in the typical anime way, portraits on either side of the screen talking to you. In this game those portraits actually are animated on a basic level unlike in Cross Edge and other similar games. You can see the characters breathing, lips moving, hair swaying... This method works but the story itself is as one would expect pretty ridiculous with sophomoric humor peppered in. If you've played any NIS game you basically know what to expect, and it's not necessarily a 'bad' thing, but by New York Times best seller material this is not.

The game also features several shops which allow you to create various things. The most basic system is effectively identical to the one in Cross Edge. Over the course of the game you acquire various schematic books which list item/equipment recipes and meeting the requirements for those allows you to craft all kinds of things. Generally speaking this is what you're going to rely on for gearing up your party. In addition to the general equipment you can also craft other things in very much the same fashion. There are `Managraphics' which change the skin of your weapon and grant you various attributes, monsters which can then be challenged for rewards, and `Meteors/Planetary Rings' which allow you to place stat increasing Meteors in to corresponding nodes on the Planetary Ring very much like Final Fantasy 10's Sphere Grid.

Trophies/DLC:

A quick note about the trophies, they don't seem impossibly hard or grindy. Many of them require a pretty modest number of kills/wins/gold to obtain but even some of the higher ones I can only imagine become trivial towards the end of the game. At the moment I'm tentatively stating that this game strikes me as a doable platinum. At the very least it isn't the eye-stabbing grind fest of achievements that Cross Edge had.

Some DLC is also already available. A couple of free packs for basic resource items and a couple of cheap packs which get you voice packs and such. Nothing too crazy but it's pretty obvious continued support of the game is likely.

Conclusion:

The game has all the depth that a NIS fan is probably going to buy it for but it also unfortunately forces a lackluster 3D presentation, the story is about as corny as you'd expect in a cross-over game, and a fair number of aspects were directly recycled from Cross Edge. It's the style of game I was in the mood for but on that same note I'm not really blown away by anything this game has to offer. The $50 price point makes it easier to swallow but even then all my RPG nerd bretheren out there might want to give this one a little while to simmer in the bargain bin unless you're simply looking for something to tide you over to the next big game.

Pros:

Deep combat

Deep crafting

Fanservice

High character customization

Cons:

Crisp but otherwise dated graphics.

While I enjoyed the game over all, I felt it was a little too cheesy to really keep my attention. Frankly, this has been a problem with most recent NIS games. They've forgotten how to blend comedy with meaningful character and plot development and what they end up with just too zany to be compelling in the long term. Such is the case with Trinity Universe. It is a fun game, but not terribly engaging and in the long term it's just so-so.

Let me start off by saying this is one of those rare games that throws in something new and the formula actually works. This is one of my top treasured PS3 games. Graphics are actually quite good, storyline can be funny most of the time, combat is executed nicely, sound is amazing, lots of content, and high replayability. This game mainly focuses on treasure hunting with RPG elements, but it's strictly RPG to me.

Very good game! Even though the soundtrack for the first game is better than this one, DJ Hero 2 does it again! Love the mode in which you play on clubs and all songs get together at once. Great graphics and I can say this one is the best Activision released for this type of games. Sorry Guitar Hero Warriors of rock but this game would be tons of more fun and better!

I was a big fan of the first game but this one is even better. The songs are better, there are way more of them, and they even added a career mode. The online play is a lot of fun, you can level up and unlock tags and stuff like on COD MW2. If you're a fan of Guetta, Deadmau5, and other music similar to them, you'll love the track list. Good party game for sure.

I would say it's a better game than the first. There are more challenges here and things you can do while mixing that weren't in the first game. I don't like this soundtrack as much as DJ Hero 1 though. It sounds more pop, but it does have the latest songs if that's what you're looking for. One problem I ran into was that this game completely froze my PS3. I just bought my PS3 new a few months ago so I doubt it's the console. I went to quit the game with the turntable controller and my PS3 screen went black and wouldn't load anything else. I couldn't manually shut it down either. I had to pull the power plug. Luckily nothing was erased or corrupted. Not sure if it's a glitch with the game or just a 1 time problem.

Infamous is a great game. Just how great it is depends on your taste in games. This is not a run and gun shooter like Killzone 2 or Resistance. This game is more a mix of a shooter with platform game elements. You play Cole who through some mysterious manner (explosion) has developed electrical "super powers". You are basically locked on an island ala "Escape from New York" style. You can scale buildings, poles, train tracks, almost any structure you can get your hands on. Scaling up the side of a building or up the beams supporting the train tracks is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The best part of your super powers are your electrical abilities. You can zap enemies with lighting similar to Star Wars Jedi, you can throw "energy grenades" which are lethal and you can develop other powers. The powers you develop depend on whether you choose to be "good" or "evil". You get certain special powers down each path you take. If you help civilians and do other good deeds/missions you are basically taking the "good" path. If you decide to crisp the good old civilians like bacon and do "evil" missions then you go down the "evil" path.

This "good vs. evil" choice is actually implemented very well, much better than I thought it would be. I will be playing this game through a second time in order to see how the other path develops and ends. Overall the graphics are very good and the controls are pretty much spot on. I never had problems with targeting, etc. This is a great exclusive for the PS3. I waffled between giving this game 4 stars or 5 stars and ultimately decided on giving it 5 stars. I gave the game 5 stars because I felt the originality, story and gameplay were some of the best for a PS3 game. That's ultimately how I judged this, compared to other PS3 games since this is a PS3 exclusive. This is definitely one of the top titles on the PS3 and for me personally is one of my top 5 PS3 games. If you are unsure about this game I recommend downloading the demo from the Playstation Store as it is a good representation of the game's feel.

inFAMOUS is a superhero game about a guy named Cole who wakes up in the rubble of a large blast that killed thousands. When he awakes, he realizes he now has incredible powers, allowing him to absorb and control electricity. Shortly after the blast, the government has quarantined the city, Empire City. Empire City is made up of 3 islands, and each one has now been taken over by a different gang. The Neon is controlled by the druggies the Reapears, the Warrens has been taken over by the homeless now calling themselves The Dust Men, and the Historic District has been taken over by a secret organization called The First Sons.

Early in the game Cole gets in contact with an FBI agent named Moya who gives him information and missions, and tells him that if he can find her husband John, who disappeared after the blast, and bring her the Ray Sphere, the bomb that caused Cole to get his powers, she can get him out of Empire City.

The game is an open world sandbox type game, allowing you take on missions as you see fit. Early in the game Cole doesn't have very many powers, but as you progress, you earn new powers by restoring power to the blacked out portions of the city.

Your basic attack, which also doesn't spend any of your energy, is a lightning shot or bolt that Cole fires from his hand as quickly as you can press the R1 button (also while holding L1 to aim). You'll also earn such powers as throwing electrical grenades, fire a rocket of elecrticity, summon a lightning storm, perform a sniper like precision shot, fire off a shock wave, and some others.

As you complete story missions and side missions, you earn XP. You also earn XP for killing bad guys, healing people, capturing bad guys, or draining enemies of their life. You spend this XP on upgrading your powers. The upgrades will be different depending on whether you want to be good or evil. Certain upgrades won't even become available until you've reached a certain level on your Karma, Cole's good and evil meter.

Early on in the game you need to decide whether you want to be good or bad. The game doesn't really allow you to be somewhere in between. Although you could, it wouldn't really benifit you much because you would never unlock the more powerful versions of your superpowers.

Throughout the game you'll be given the choice to do something good or bad. Early in the game the government has dropped some food crates into the city. You're given the choice to let the people in the city take the food, or you can be selfish and scare the people away and take the food for yourself and your girlfriend, Trish, and your best friend, Zeke. There are many more choices throughout the game similar to this.

One of the best things about this game is Cole's ability to scale buildings. Almost anything you see is climbable, allowing Cole to make his way up buildings and light poles and whatever else very easily and quickly. If you've played Assassins Creed, then you pretty much get the idea. I've had more fun scaling buildings in this game than I ever have in any of the Spiderman games.

Cole will also unlock the ability to slide along power lines and train tracks, and use static thrusters to glide, which adds even more fun and depth to traveling around the city.

The graphics in this game are good, but not great, but defiantly not terrible either. Unfortunetly the game suffers from some pop in, but this is easily forgiven due to the fact that the only load screen you'll ever see is when you first boot the game up. You'll also notice some jagged edges here and there. But the characters look great, especially Cole. Even more so when Cole becomes really evil, as his clothes become really dirty and grimy, and his skin turns pale.

The sound in this game is good, with all the proper special effects you'd expect to hear from someone who can shoot lightning from their hands. And the voice acting is really top notch too.

The cutscenes are a joy to watch as their told in comic book style, with added elements of 3D and movement.

As far as negatives, the game is a tad bit glitchy. Sometimes when Cole goes to restrain a villian or leech the life out of someone, he kinda gets stuck on something and jerks around for a moment before finally unfreezing from the spot. Also, in my time with the game, at one point an enemy threw a grenade at me and I somehow fell through the floor and to my death.

The other big annoyance is that Cole has very sticky fingers. While this often makes some of the platforming easier than in most games, it can also become very annoying when all you want to do is drop to the ground but Cole keeps grabing every little thing between where you were standing and where you want to land.

If you get bored in the game, there are blast shards to collect, and for every so many, you'll add another power node (your energy bar basically). You can also collect Dead Drops, which is audio recordings that help fill in the background of the main story.

There are 15 good guy missions and 15 bad guy missions, but every time you complete one, you lock out one of the others. So like I said, it's good to decide early on whether you want to be good or bad. There are 40 story missions and I don't know how many side missions, but there are quite a few. To get through the game probably takes a good 15 hours if you take the time to do every side mission and take the time to do some serious blast shard collecting.

I've beaten the game both as good and evil, and I must say that I enjoyed being evil a lot more. You can be a lot more destructive, plus Cole just looks really cool when he's evil. There are three difficulties, and playing on Easy is in fact easy. Plus, on a positive note, the game uses a very good checkpoint system, so if you die during a mission you never have to backtrack that far or replay the same mission over and over. If you die while not in a mission, just in free roam, then you just respawn at a med clinic at no cost to you.

I very much love this game. It's one of the best super hero games that I've ever played. I certaintly recommend it to anyone who loves a good action/platformer or anyone whose ever wanted to know just what it would feel like to have super powers.

I've only played about 5 hours of this game, but I can tell you now that it is an amazing accomplishment, and worth your time and money.

If you've read any of the reviews for this game, you'll see most of the negative points are about the graphics, repetitiveness of missions, and controlling Cole (namely the platforming aspects).

Taking these concerns head on, I'll admit that yes, the graphics are good, but not great. For a sandbox/open world game, I find the graphics to be stellar, but of course they don't stand up to games such as Killzone. This should *not* deter you from playing this game.

Granted, I've only put about 5 hours into the game so far, but I feel fairly confident in saying that anyone who complains about the missions being repetitive is just nit-picking. The main story missions are not only interesting and compelling, but move the story forward at the same time. The side missions range from the extremely short (I'm talking like less than 2 minutes--kill this group of reapers) to fairly long. In the missions you might have to destroy surveillance cameras, race across rooftops, usher a group of people through a barricade, or any number of other things.

Finally we come to Cole's controls. This is another point that I happen to agree with (it can be hard to maneuver Cole into small spaces while climbing down a wall, for instance). And yet, once again, it's nothing that should deter you from playing the game. It is, at most, a mild annoyance. Usually you won't even notice a problem.

There is so much to do in this game (main missions, side missions, collect dead drops, collect shards, explore, upgrade powers, etc) that you will have a very hard time putting the game down. (That five hours I mentioned having played...that was in one session.) The developers were smart about the side missions and collectibles. You actually *want* to do it:

As you collect shards, it increases your power bar. As you collect dead drops, it uncovers new parts of the back story. As you do side missions, it opens up (clears) parts of the map. And for all these things, you'll get trophies at certain check points (25% of shards collected for example).

The bottom line is this: 99% of the negative comments you've heard or read don't take away from the fact that this game is FUN. Reviewers *have* to nitpick. It's their jobs. But at the end of the day, none of the negatives amount to squat. Get this game, you will not regret it.

Despite the game's mostly positive reviews, there is a noticeable portion of professional reviewers who found it underwhelming. While the game does have a lot of good points, there are multiple issues that drag the game down.

Gameplay: The game lacks polish in many areas. I've encountered numerous glitchs, such as the camera suddenly going screwy when I go up against a wall, falling through the floor or sinking into buildings. While the glitches haven't been as frequent for me as they are for other reviewers, they are definitely there. The Le Parkour aspect of the game is great, but Cole is too likely to cling to things that I'm not aiming for. The fact that you can't climb chainlink surfaces is asinine. Combat is also often frustrating. The enemies are too accurate, and getting in the wrong position can lead to Cole getting killed before I can move him to a better tactical position. They also have slightly better range than Cole, and only show up on the radar at a certain distance, even if they can attack you and you can attack them.

A common criticism is that Cole's electrical powers are just guns by a different name. This doesn't bother me, but maybe I'm not creative enough to imagine different uses for them. It is very annoying that you can't shock people by shooting metal objects near them, especially given how crowded the battlefield can be. The game's primary attack requires you to go into an aiming mode, which can be problematic. You move slowly when in aiming mode, and you can't see objects next to you, which sometimes blocks me when I'm trying to be a moving target. Another issue I have, even though it is a minor flaw (albiet one that makes battles more troublesome) is that in sniping mode, I don't have fine enough control over the crosshair. It's probably not a problem for most people, but the game has no auto aim, and when the enemies are in motion, and I'm sometimes in motion on a vehicle, I want as much control over the crosshair as possible, to be able to inch it into place instead of having it jump when I tilt the joystick slightly. Other problems are that the shockwave move has a very short range, and the grenade move bounces back easily, and can be difficult to throw behind objects.

Story: The story has some interesting bits, but it's largely too straightforward for it's own good. I had difficulty caring about the characters, and too much is left unresolved even for sequel hooks. I'm in the far minority here, even among negative critics, but I found the comic book cutscenes to be ultimately detrimental to the story. They're an interesting gimmick, but by having the main character describe what happens, instead of showing us and hearing what the characters say, it's harder to grow attached to them and to immerse yourself in the story. As for the supporting characters, they're depressingly typical. Some of them have a little depth and charm, but not enough to overcome their faults. Of particular annoyance is the main character's girlfriend, Trish (A reference to Devil May Cry? Who can say.) She initially blames you for what happens, and while it makes sense that someone who has gone through a tragedy would want someone to focus their grief on, she's too snide about it ("You OWE us for what you did") to remain likeable. Even in evil mode (where she has better reason to criticize you) she instantly blames you for every bad thing that happens, despite the gangs running loose in the city. They made her a nurse to establish that she cares about people, but it ends up feeling shallow and mostly serves to make her seem more self rightous. Finally, the main bad guy's plan doesn't make sense, but I'll explain that in the comments for this review to avoid spoilers.

The Karma System: Many people complain that the moral choices are embarrassingly black and white, and the fact that the game stops to tell you your choices is akward. This is true, but it doesn't bother me personally, since I'm not interested in karma systems beyond replay value. My complaints deal with how it affects the story and the side missions.

The main character, Cole McGrath is presented as a very average guy. He has little ambition, and doesn't expect much from people. I think this is appropriate, even though Cole can sometimes be a little too apathetic to the situation at hand. The problem is that outside of a handful of cutscenes, Cole's personality doesn't change regardless of what you do. Combined with his largely neutral personality, it makes him hard to like, and takes some of the fun out of what morality you choose to be. For example, late in the game Cole has to make a particularly difficult moral choice. But even though I played as Good, I could not see Cole as the type of person who would be able to make the right choice in that situation.

This problem extends to side missions too. There are 2 different types of side missions, ones based on morality and generic ones. While playing as Good, these are no problem. But when playing as bad, they often don't make sense. Why are civilians constantly making requests of Cole, if he's always killing people who get in his way or tick him off? Some people might consider side missions irrelevant besides playing the mission and getting rewarded, but the fact that the gameplay and story separate so obviously show a lack of production values. The most blatant example in the game actually comes during a main mission where you have to team up with the police to guard a prisoner. Even if you've been playing the evil side missions that require you to kill a lot of cops, the game makes no attempt to explain away why they have no objections relying on him.

In my opinion, it's hard to tell if someone will like this game. The problems have a lot to do with perception, and what the player expects from the game. But given how many people like it (and it is fun if you can work past it's flaws) I'd at least recommend that someone try it out. But it's best to go in expecting a good game, not one of the greatest games of the current generation.
