I have never before seen a game so unfairly reviewed by major pro reviewers like IGN and Gamespot. It seems that some very realistic games are outgrowing those sites in that when they require real skill the reviewer is lost and takes it out on the game with an undeserved poor review. This game is amazing. True 1:1 control and so much of a learning curve that you really feel like you are in full control and rewarded for improvement. Totally ignore the pathetic reviews of sites and listen to the real reviews here and by other users.

Got a chance to play it quite a bit and have to say the hype doesn't do the game justice. So at first I felt it was kind of slow and that I was seeing the impact that I felt I was dishing out. You have stats for your fighter and while you might be amazing in real life your character needs to improve. It's not that he won't move with you perfectly, because he will, it's the fact that his hits won't be measured as a perfect punch. So you have to boost Strength, Speed, Stamina, and Technique to get him up to your level and beyond. That's just the beginning however. You also have Chin which allows you to take more hits and Heart which helps you get back up if you have been mowed over. Only bad part is you really can't move your feet as you will be told during the tutorial. The rest of you is fine, but they have you rooted to that spot and probably to stop people from getting out of the cameras view. Custom soundtrack is supported so you can abuse people to your favorite fight songs.

Finally you have career mode and training facilities to improve your fighter. Career mode is like the one person stand alone to get you used to the ups and downs while earning yourself a little bit of cash along the way. The money is used on clothing, healing (since broken bones make for a weak fighter), and training facilities. Training includes things like the tutorial which gets updates from time to time, a spar which is just for practice and doesn't give you anything, the large punching bag, the small up high punching bag, an accuracy test, and an endurance match. The last four I mentioned give you upgrade points that you can spend on boosts which I named earlier. I tend to use either the large punching bag and/or the accuracy test since I'm better at those, but in all fairness did not try the endurance match.

Almost forgot some really important things. There is a gauge that measures how good or evil you are in a sense. Fighting using straight up boxing techniques makes you a good guy and shows you as being respectful. Fighting using the dirty moves and/or cheating (i.e. buying the download content to improve your fighter) lowers your respect. Not sure what respect does yet, but my guess is increases the price of items such as shoes, jewelry, tattoos, and other clothing while also warning other players online this guy might have paid money to improve his stats. Improved stats does not equal ability since you still have to be able to move and punch with precision. No stat is going to make up for really horrible skills.

I also recommend a well lit room for the camera as you will not be able to use the head sync if the room is kind of dark. Trust me it's a lot better to be able to bob than holding the X button which makes fighting a pain.

As far as multi-player is concerned I have not yet tried it and not sure if I can even do so online yet. I can tell you the features include spectator, tournaments and betting. Betting also gives a percentage to the winner. If the person you bet on has won a lot of fights and therefore those who had bet on him previously won a lot of money, you get a percentage boost for that. You also get a percentage boost for betting on winners multiple times.

Now this brings me to the trophies. You want them and badly. Trophies offer stat boosts and unique abilities that cannot be gained by any other means. These include stamina speed rate up, easy dizzy and/or stun/stagger break, easier to stun/stagger or dizzy the opponent and many other skills that will greatly improve your character in later battles and I'm sure for online fights as well.

The disappointing side is the lack of options in character customization. I did not see any long hair styles and on top of that for females who play you cannot be a woman. I'm surprised since there are definitely some woman out there who are pretty beast and you wouldn't want to mess with them. I guess they don't want guys beating up on woman since it could create all sorts of unwanted issues, but for women who play the game it's going to feel a little off I'm sure.

All in all this is an amazing game and at less than average dollar value. It offers more than pretty much any boxing title out, but in fairness they only paid for one big representative versus a huge cast of sportsman faces that would sue daily if they didn't make a certain amount of money for the use of their likeness. As far as the Playstation Move controls are concerned those are really good as well. It matches everything you do. For those of you who know eastern martial arts the turning punch motion won't increase the damage in the game, but is still useful. Boxers can easily show off as well. Great buy, a lot of fun, and a push to keep you at it with the stat system. All the fury of a real fight with the lack of a real hospital bill.

I review a lot of games that can be used for fitness and exercise. Very rarely has a game provided such an intense workout that just after a few minutes of playing with it, I'm covered with perspiration and my muscles feel tighter. It happened with this one.

It takes a while for you to get started with this game. When you pop the disc into your PS3, you need to wait a few minutes while the game data installs. You're instantly introduced to "Duke", your virtual trainer who looks like he's been in a couple fights himself in his day (the graphics are so detailed it's hard to tell if he's a real person or a computer-generated image).

You start out by entering your weight, height, and age. Your BMI is calculated for you.

You can then choose a look for your fighter. You select from a variety of faces, beards, hair colors, and hair styles. Chances are you can get someone approximating your look.

In the next step, you divide 60 "ability points" into various categories: strength, speed, stamina, chin (your charater's ability to take a punch), heart (your character's resolve in staying up despite taking a beating), and technique. In the course of the game, you can win more "ability points" to further strengthen your character.

In the next step, you calibrate your Move controllers (you need two of them). The process is a bit more involved than usual. You need to center yourself in the camera, stretch your arms straight out, and then move your remotes back and forth. You can also take a picture of the background without you in it to enable head tracking, which will supposedly track your head movements just like a Kinect (I couldn't get it to work on mine, possibly because I had objects in the background).

Duke will go on to tell you how to play the game. You'll need to keep your feet in place when boxing. You press the Move button and flick the controller to dodge and jump.

You'll also learn how to read the various elements in the game which represent your character's well-being. There's a health meter and a stamina meter, neither of which you want to run out. There's also a rage meter, which goes up each time you get hit and adds fuel for "dirty moves". A diagram of a skeleton will tell you if any part of your fighter is injured and needs to be patched up.

Once you finished the tutorial, you'll see four menu options:

Events: Takes you through different fights of increasing difficulty. With each fight, you'll earn money, reputation points, and new moves.

Training: Will let you re-do the tutorial or take new tutorials on sparring, heavy bag, speed bag, target practice, and endurance sparring.

Fitness: Shows you how many calories you burn while playing.

Fighter: Lets you adjust your character's appearance, assign new "ability points" you earn, heal from injuries, and apply "boosters" which you earn during your fights. You can also download cheats online (which, of course, come at an extra price).

As for the actual fighting, it is by far the best fight experience I've had in a video game. Your onscreen character reflect your motions almost perfectly--and even mimics hooks, jabs, and uppercuts pretty well. It does take a little while to get used to fighting on a two-dimensional screen--it's hard to gauge depth and so often you may be swinging and missing at your opponent (the game does work with 3D, so I suppose with a 3D television this issue would be solved). You can also switch camera angles, which helps. Other than that, it's a remarkable simulation of actual fighting.

After each fight, you can view the calories you burned as well as statistics (punches thrown, punches connected, "dirty moves", and punch accuracy). You can even view a video replay of your fight.

Like I said, after about 5 rounds I was breathing hard and felt my muscles tight. What's great is that I didn't want to stop--I just wanted to keep pounding the tar out of my opponents. I have a feeling that of all the games I have to get in shape, this is going to be the one I go back to most often. This is motion gaming to the extreme, and a great title which showcases the capabilities of the Move.

I was waiting for this game for a long time, but I was a bit concerned that reviews for this game from various websites were not that positive. But I bought it anyways, and boy I am glad I did!! I lost 5 lbs in about a week playing this game, and the best part is that it was a fun process, and I keep wanting to play despite my sore arms!!!

You have to have a right expectation though. Although the control does give you an excellent 1-to-1 representation most of the time, sometime it does get out of whack (but you can quickly readjust during the game by pressing "o" button). Aside from some basic punches (straight, upper cut, hooks...etc)and easy special moves, other advanced moves are hard to pull off especially if you haven't built enough character attributes. Also the game is simple and straightforward keep training to get stronger and beating up various opponents. No fancy storyline or breathtaking graphics...etc

But if you just want to workout sweating & getting your heart pumping while having lots of fun (assuming you don't mind this type of violence), I highly recommend this game!!

Update (12/11/2010) It's been about one month since I started playing this game. I beat all the opponents, but replaying them is still super fun, and now I have added this as a part of my daily workout routines. I was never this disciplined and persistent with workout until I started playing this game because of the fun factor. It guaranteed to make me push the envelop because you really don't want to get beaten up in the game and you will fight for your life without realizing how exhausted you are until the fight it over! As a result, about 20 min into the game (5 or 6 fights), I am soaked with sweat completely exhausted, and then hit the shower, a nice way to conclude a workout. Now I am 8 lbs lighter (from 193 to 185 lbs)than I was a month ago, and with this pace, I am sure i will shed a few lbs more. Online play is super fun, but it's tough, and you need to be well prepared through practice. Oh, they released a patch that makes the fighter semi-transparent, which is a highly welcomed feature. It helps you see the opponent punches better, which helps you fight more strategically. Also, there are several different viewing angles, and once in a while, you play in a different angle, and it will give you a completely different feel for the game, which is very refreshing. I really hope they make a sequel with other scenes (maybe more bright settings this time?) and stronger and smarter fighter with various styles. Also, it might be even more fun if it adds some elements of arcade and humor as this version is very dark and serious. I will gladly pay $60 for it.

To start, these are made out of, what feels to be, actual metal. They look beautiful, and are made really well. They also function perfectly. Absolutely worth the price.

However....

The fit of them is a bit loose...a little too loose for me to say they're perfect. Very close to, but not quite..They were manufactured to be universal, meaning any of them will replace any button, as opposed to each of them having button-specific retaining tabs. They only have 2 tabs, one directly opposite of the other. I'm thinking that may be the reason for their loose fit. They also tend to look a bit cockeyed when they're at rest. If I give the controller a slight shake, they'll readjust. Other than that, I'm quite happy with these buttons.

So to recap;

Pro:

-well made

-great looking

-great function

Con:

-a bit loose

-looks a little cockeyed when at rest.

Overall, I'd reccomend these to anyone else. They look sharp, and unless someone with perfection issues is using the contoller they're put in, no one will really notice the cons.

To be blunt, this is probably the worst PS3 game to date.

Even the packaging itself was crappy. The pictures on the case were grainy and pixilated, as if they had been enlarged and printed off an early 90's printer .

Graphics The graphics are comparable to those of a poor quality PS2 game. There is no realism, it all seems so thrown together and it is quite obvious that very little effort was put into the graphics.

Gameplay Its all about the kill moves. Period. That seems to be the only thing in mind when the gameplay was developed, running up to an enemy and pressing the X button so marcinko could stab somebody. Don't get me wrong, the kill moves had potential to be both incredibly graphic, and highly satisfying, but they fall short. Again, the pathetic graphics make the kill moves more silly than anything. The AI NEVER notice you coming, so you can run right up to them-no sneaking required (or possible for that matter), and the enemy never hears you, sees you, or even seems to be performing his guard duties, they just stand around with their back to you so that you can stab them. And the hand grenades he uses are ridiculous, its almost comical to use them. Instead of a hall-clearing, shrapnel throwing, enemy killing explosion, you get a flash and a pop that rarely takes down enemies. There is no imagination in this game. It's a -follow the dotted line, kill unsuspecting enemies as you go, off the rackgame. It is pathetically short and has zero replay value. Blind fire is a joke. Well, accuracy in general is a joke. My accuracy in most shooters that I play tends to be better than average, but in this game I couldn't hit anything, and it wasn't from lack of trying. And when you do hit an enemy, it usually takes more than a few hits to bring them down. And I'm sorry but if you shoot someone, ANYONE, in the chest with a 7.62 mm round from an AK-47, they are going to die, or at the very least stop shooting at you. The Koreans in this game can take a double tap to center mass and still keep coming, like little north Korean terminators.

Sounds -I've never heard so much unnecessary swearing in my life. You cant go more than 30 seconds without hearing some incredibly foul language. Every hand grenade, most kills, and every time he gets shot it is a string of profanity that would make most rappers blush. Its just constant "F-ing F-ers, Go F-ing F yourselves you F-ing Communist F-ers" And it seems to be a cornerstone of the game itself. In the second level (if you really can call it that, it only takes ten minutes), as I approached a fast-rope that was clearly the only way into a building he said "like the ex-wife used to say, if I go down, I get in", and then proceeded down the rope. To which my response was simply "Wow."

The gunfire itself is mediocre, I've never fired an AK-47, but I've heard plenty of them, and the ones in this game are more firecracker than assault rifle. The PS2 game "Black" had far more realistic sounding weapons, and "Medal of Honor-Airborne" for PS3 recorded the sounds from authentic period weapons, tanks, artillery, etc, from various ranges. Their effort was clearly heard in the game and made for much better realism.

Overall

The replay value is nonexistent. For $ you should be able to play every penny out of it, but after two hours you're done with the entire game, and likely so pissed off that you just wasted two hours, that you'll trade it in or sell it immediately (at a huge loss I might add. Gamestop was only offering $ cash/trade for it three days after its release). Rainbow six vegas 2 is an example of a game with considerable replay value. Or for that matter GTA4, its down to $ give or take, and how many hundreds of hours can you play that game?

This game should not have even been released. I consider it a crime (theft/fraud if you will) to charge people money for this game, let alone $! I feel that the developer/publisher should issue a formal apology to anyone who purchased this game, and offer at the very least a partial refund. My review does not do justice to how terrible this game is. For perspectives sake you should rent it and play it for as long as you can stand, at least that way you'll only be out $.

I am not ignorant, nor naive. I do realize this game is one of the worst reviewed games in recent memory.

With that said, I do agree with most of the flaws this game is being held accountable for. However, I feel they are being greatly embellished, at least some of them. The gunplay and hit detection are sketchy, but not dreadfully bad like most would lead you to believe. Infact, this aspect of the game is hovering around mediocre, in my opinion. I've experienced better....but also worse.

The graphics and level design are outdated, and rather uninspired. The gameplay is straightforward, with basically no variation. The story is forgetable at best, and completely absurd at worst. The cover system can be more of a burden than an asset, and the enemy AI is less than brilliant, to put it politely. Micky Rourke attempts to put his best foot forward, but the material is so insipid.

So....this must be sounding like a negative review, huh? Allow me to actually highlight why i enjoyed this game, regardless of it's glaring flaws. Even though it's an outdated "run of the mill" shooter, it is a pretty darn fun one at that. I enjoyed progressing through levels, and mowing those commie's down. While the language is certainly vulgar, I was never the less ammused by it most of the time. The takedowns in this game were cool, though over the top. There are many different ones to perform, so this never really got old for me. I am not going to claim that this game should be considered award worthy. I am merely suggesting that perhaps it isn't quite as bad as some have stated.

PROS:

1. A variety of brutal takedowns that are fun to perform.

2. Mowing down commies, and insulting them while doing it is pure bliss.

3. Simplistic control scheme, levels are fun to replay.

4. Micky Rourke does a decent job, even if he doesn't have the best material to work with.

CONS:

1. A two hour campaign does not justify selling this game at full retail price. It does have online multiplayer, but good luck finding anyone to play with you, considering that just about everyone hates this game with a passion. If this were sold for $10 bucks on Xbox Live/PSN, instead of the full retail price of $60 when it was initially released, I think you would have seen less hatred directed towards it.

2. Dumb enemy AI has rendered stealth rather pointless. Sneaking up behind them is easy, since their backs are usually towards you anyway!

3. Only six missions to be found here. Pretty bare bones stuff too. I would have liked to have seen more variation.

4. Visuals and lazy level design will not impress anyone.

Closing comments:

Rogue Warrior should have been a cheap downloadable title, and that is it. The content it offers, does not justify spending more than $10 bucks. I bought mine for around that, and don't regret doing so. I had some fun with this game, and I do realize I am one of the few.

I bought this based on a couple cool still shots from the game and the fact that Mickey Rourke was voicing the main character. What a piece of garbage this game is. I honestly can't believe a game like this got put into production. Zero skills required. Zero fun. Zero playability. This game is wretched trash. Don't even rent it. Don't even read another review on it cause this game isn't worth any more of your time.

This was fine at the beginning, but basically all you do is shoot at the enemy while Mr. Marcinko constantly comments with the same stupid phrases throughout the entire time. Great if you just want to "shoot 'em up" and curse like a drunkin sailor but other than that, i am sure there are other games more challenging. Oh well, i gave it a chance .. Can always trade it in !!! Hope others enjoy it more than we did.

High Moon did a great job with Transformers WFC.I still play it to this day. I had high hopes for Transformers DOTM.The game felt rushed. The animations seem choppy and glitchy. They walk around like they're floating sometimes. A lot of elements are the same but simplified not in a good way. For instance special abilities are only for specific characters. the drain ability is only specific to Megatron.

The environments are nothing new, just frustrating at times. Its not a bad game, it can be fun at times. I was just hoping for WFC with the Bay-Formers style. I would rent this before dishing out $60.

Oh and one last thing. I dont know why theres no reviews on the game. did they pay everyone off not to give it a bad review on opening weekend? IGN,GAMESPOT, no one reviewed this game. I feel like a guinea pig for buying it the first day it was out.

Pros: Controls much better than the 1st two Transformers games. Easy to maneuvor, esp. in vehicle mode. Have multiplayer and room for customization & upgrades. Able to use & play a few different characters. Easy to upgrade levels in multiplayer (I played Commander for ~3 hrs and been able to upgrade to highest lvl 20 vs. it takes forever to upgrade in games like COD: MW2 and Battlefield BC1 & 2).

Cons: Short game with only 7 chapters (I rented it from Redbox for the weekend & as an average gamer I finished it in easy mode in abt 6 hrs). Story is average, especially ending (as it probably didn't want to spoil the movie). Graphics is average. No open world, can't climb buildings and environments not destructible. Some glitches that froze my campaign mode 2-3 times, multiplayer mode ~2 times. Also suddenly lost connection 5-7 times during multiplayer games that are not related to my network.

I have the first two Transformers PS3 games and were very disappointed at them because it was so hard to defeat the spinning robots and timed even at easy mode so I was stuck and never moved beyond that. So this one I've found it enjoyable to be able to easily maneuvor my unit. I really don't like to shoot using R2 button and I strongly think that R1 makes so much more sense for the index finger and we can't change it. It also makes sense to have the Drain special ability used only by Megatron (tied well to the story). I still haven't figured out which weapon and why someone in multiplayer mode can easily kill me with one or two shots when most the time I have to shoot 5-6+ even though it seems like it hit.

I very much hope to have a Transfomers game with much more decent graphics such as those in COD & Battlefield. I think it'll really blast people off had the company invested more in that and make this more of an open world and destrutible environment. The new Battlefield 3 from the trailer really set a new high bar in many of those areas. That'll be my wish list.

Overall this is still an enjoyable game, but I don't think it's worth $60. I usually buy games at $20 and even then I was very glad that I just spend $2.15 to have rented this and even able to finish it and played some multiplayer in 2 days.

I thought that this game would be more fun than it was. I've played through the other 2 Transformers movie games and they were much more enjoyable to play than this one. I found the controls odd and irritating. The movement when in car/truck mode was a hassle and the weapons controls were also annoying both in robot & car/truck mode. Overall this game was not very fun for me. Of course this is just my opinion based on my own gaming preferences. The graphics and sound were pretty good, it was just the gameplay that I didn't like.

Anyone familiar with the discussions about whether or not video games are art need look no further than Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. As a fantastically hyper charged action game and a ramped up version of the original, complete with new characters, tweaks, modes and polish, this game makes a definitive and compelling argument.

There is no sense in trying to persuade a NG hater to the camp. Those who know and love Ryu Hayabusa, and those who know why NG is head and shoulders above the rest in comparison to other action games need not hesitate in partaking in the bliss that is NGS 2.

If you are on the fence (and I can't think of any reasons besides difficulty, which IS addressed here) about NGS 2, then I'm here to tell youDON'T BE. It simply does not get any better than this. From an artistic point of view, this is a well rounded and well thought out collector's dream!

I also would remind you there is a Collector's Edition of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 available, although I do not recommend the retailer in question because of their business practices. BUT, as an only resort for the aforementioned product, you really have no choice.

Polished professional presentation that is light years ahead of the competition.

Absolutely superb. Do not hesitate to partake!

Ayane, Rachel, Momiji, Ryu..... what more could you ask for? It's already in the game! Go for it.

My absolute highest recommendation goes to Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

I was looking for this all over the place and was being told it was sold out everywhere I went (gamestop, target etc.) come to find amazon has most of the controller/game combos that were released. I needed a new controller cuz call of duty ALWAYS breaks your joystick eventually (all my friends have the same broken stuck up joystick) so I saw this combo pack a while back but didn't have the cash. So when I needed it, it wasn't available anymore but, I was pleased that amazon still had it and NEW! It's a great value making the controller only $30 seeing as how it retails most places for $54.99 and the game a great bonus one of the most interesting stories and one of my favorite games.

Resistance 2 overall is great game with a good storyline and single player, co-op, and huge online competition. Storyline take place second after the first game. The game took a call of duty approach when it came to gameplay, allowing the character to sprints, health regeneration, and limiting the weapon load out to just 2 weapons, instead of the first game, which allow to you carry all the weapon at once. co-op is nice for there is 2 player offline co-op where the second player can join in from their own Psn account, and both can join an 8 player co-op match. There are three classes to chose from,a soldier who provide support fire, spec-ops who give ammo and long range support, and a medic. Each class is customizable as you level up, unlocking new weapon and armor. Co-op in this game does not have a direct storyline, it is more random missions being given out by the commander. online competitive is like the first except with more players.
