I have been a big fan of the various "Lego" game offerings and when I heard they were coming out with a sequel to the Indy game I anxiously counted down the days until release. Unfortunately I'm disappointed with this game. It's just not the same caliber as the other Lego games and they've changed some of the general feel of game play that gave the others their "character" and longevity (to continue playing). We've played the other games over and over again.

The good:

This is the first PS3 version of the Lego games that we have purchased, all others are the Wii versions. But generally speaking this game doesn't seem to be near as buggy as the last Indy game (which was terribly buggy on the Wii). It hasn't been without it's issues (we have had 1 freeze -had to hard power down the system and some minor buggy behavior. As usual, the graphics are nice. And, of course, it's always fun bashing things and collecting studs.

Some of the changes:

1) Each of the movies now has a separate "hub" from which you access the various levels. At first this was sort of cool. However the spaces are large and it takes a while to get to the next spot. There is a "Quick Play" option, but it's hidden in the Creator box, which you wouldn't necessarily look for.

2) They've done away with purchasing characters and extras from the store. These extras only become available one at a time as you complete certain things along the way. They are dropped in via parachute and you can elect to purchase them. If you don't purchase them right away you need to run all over the hub and try to remember where they where dropped in.

3) Bricks are different. There are 3 colors of bricks, which are now "hidden" in the hub areas. Although once you figure out what you are looking for they aren't all that difficult to find. Mini kits are gone, replaced by "treasures". For treasure, you must complete the level once and then go back in. The secondary levels are frustrating. You must have certain characters to complete the level however you don't select multiple characters to take with you like in other games and you cannot cycle thru characters like you could before either. So if you don't have the right characters when you go in, you have to go back out. IF that capability is there, I couldn't find it. Additionally, when playing as a single player, I would expect the accompanying character to automatically be one of the characters that is necessary for the level. This was not the case.

4) It's now in split screen mode for multiplayers. Rather than be a static split screen, it seems to be making attempts at being a smart split screen. When characters are close together, there's no divider. When you get further away, the screen splits (shows a black line to signify the split). Where it splits is dependent on where the players are, it might be top/bottom, left/right, diagonally. This also means that sometimes you may be on the left, other times you might be on the right. At first we didn't realize this was even happening until suddenly a black line appeared. It takes some getting used to, but it's nice to have the ability to explore other places and not be anchored by the other person's movements.

The summary

One of the best parts of the earlier games, and what made them enjoyable time and time again was replaying levels in free play mode and using the various characters to search for newly accessible areas, find the minikits and other secret goodies and so on. This simply isn't there any more. Additionally, each movie has a car chase level...which is really just the same activity with different scenery and cars. It gets a bit old. Individual levels are short and there's really not a lot to them. We're flying right through the game and I doubt there's going to be much replay of it when we're done.This game doesn't have the longevity the others had and the changes don't feel like improvements. I have been looking forward to Harry Potter, with these changes, I'm a little worried.

I have not played much with the creator stuff, but that's not really appealing to me. I wonder if that's where they put all of their focus, because it doesn't feel like it was in the actual game play.

It's not a terrible game, just disappointing.

It's hard to talk about this game without wanting to compare it to all the previous Lego adventure games, because initially it is set up quite differently from the rest, which I understand is a turn off for a lot of people who expected more of the same. But different doesn't necessarily mean worse, and it didn't take long at all for me to get comfortable with the new layout of Lego Indiana Jones 2. In fact in the end it isn't so different after all, and still proves to be a lot of fun.

As every other reviewer has mentioned, the game is divided into six hubs instead of the usual one three for Crystal Skull and one for each of the first three movies. The levels are then located within these hubs, as are the bonuses (bricks), characters, and vehicles you can unlock for purchase. The hubs are large, free-roaming areas that could potentially get confusing when it comes to figuring out the side missions, but when it comes to advancing the story along green arrows will help to point you in the right direction. Good amounts of critical thinking and planning ahead are required since certain levels may require a character with a unique ability (high jumping, shovel, etc.) to complete it, and you'll need a good memory when it comes time to go back and fetch the item/person you want because once unlocked they inhabit a specific area of the hub. Hence real young children may need guidance. The cut scenes are humorous, and some creative license was taken with the design of several of the boss fights and I thought it worked out really well. (Irina Spalko, Mola Ram, and the "ant man" were pretty cool.) I found the gameplay to be more smooth and sharp and in the vein of Lego Batman, and a vast improvement over the 1st Indiana Jones Game, where characters seemed to move rather slow and clunky a lot of the time. My only gripe is that the vehicles are terribly hard to maneuver and are constantly getting stuck in corners or rolling over.

However, like may others, I too experienced several glitches and freezes during the first 1/3rd or so of the game which is inexcusable. I can't say much about the new feature that allows you to create your own levels; I only dabbled in it for a moment but it seemed to be a very convoluted system that didn't catch my interest, though I could see others enjoying it if they were willing to invest the time. Nor did I have a chance to try the new split screen 2-player mode, but in theory it sounds like a good idea.

For those who are curious, there is absolutely NO material repeated from the first Indiana Jones game, which is a great incentive to buy, but it's also the reason why in this game Raiders, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade are much more abbreviated than Crystal Skull. In itself it's a great game, but probably should be looked at more as a companion piece, or extension, to part 1. I said in the beginning that different doesn't necessarily mean worse, but it also doesn't necessarily mean better, either. For the sake of replay value, I would hope that future Lego games reinstate the old format just because it had a more organized, linear flow to it. IJ2 was a welcome experiment, but at times felt like a work still in progress which is why I have to give it a less than perfect rating, though I'd still recommend it.

Gamers' reactions to videogames are generally universal. Most people agree on the great classics, agree on the godawful messes that plagued our memories, and forget about those in-between titles that slip through the cracks.

Then, there are games like "LEGO Indiana Jones 2", where the reviews are quite mixed. The general consensus seems to be, "If you love the LEGO games, you might like this game, but not love it." That's a fair statement, however, I have to admit that I enjoyed this game a lot for what it is. I think the concept of the game has confused and disappointed some of the critics and naysayers.

Here's the deal:

The first three Indiana Jones movies were already faithfully covered in the 1st LEGO Indy game. Was there any real reason for there to be a follow-up game? Not really, even though it gave us a chance to play through some levels inspired by the 4th movie. So, since Traveller's Tales and LucasArts felt obligated to recreate the 4th chapter, why not try something new?

A lot of reviewers have tried to explain how "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" works, so I'll give it a try. Basically, every one of these recent LEGO games starts with a Hub, which is basically a couple of rooms serving as the menu. Each Hub had a room for buying characters, for choosing your missions, and for few other simple tasks. When you picked a level, you'd have to navigate large rooms with plenty of secrets to find.

Now, that formula has been reversed for "LEGO Indy 2". Here, the missions themselves are just one room with some quick obstacles, and the Hub is the monstrous area with all the secrets and puzzles. In other words, the main menu of the game is where you'll spend most of your time, where the individual missions are bite-sized bits of action.

If you already hate this concept, then stay away from "LEGO Indy 2". The Star Wars, Batman, and previous Indiana Jones games were all faithful-yet-exaggerated recreations of some beloved characters with a somewhat cohesive story. But this 2nd Indiana Jones game doesn't even try to take the story seriously. It's a gloriously over-the-top collection of WTF moments. If I described any of the cutscenes to you, you'd swear that I wasn't reviewing an Indiana Jones game.

"LEGO Indiana Jones 2" is going to be loved by those who enjoyed the gameplay and puzzles more than the nostalgia. If you thought the other LEGO games were awesome simply because they let you revisit some popular movies, then this sequel isn't for you. However, if you just love to break things, collect all those bolts, finish those silly puzzles, and unlock & create all sorts of ridiculous crap, then "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" will be a blast to play.

I really like this game, once I understood what it was meant to be. "LEGO Indiana Jones 2" is more of a reinvention or rebirth, rather than a reenactment. This is probably the first LEGO videogame that depends on the gameplay more than the movie license. I love these games, so I dug this unusual sequel. If you want faithful adaptations, skip it.

When this game was announced I thought it would be a cheap revision of the first one (that was pretty good by the way). I thought it would be the first game with an additional hub for Crystal Skull movie, but NO! The game was made from scratch, with a much improved game engine. It's not so driven by the movie stories like the first one, but it freed the game developers to produce a serious LEGO madness... Indy style!

The co-op was improved as well, and now you and your partner can work on different parts of the stage without distance limitations, and that increases the fun in co-op play a lot.

In short, Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, is a great game for both Indy and LEGO franchises.

My family loves this game. The differences from the other Indiana Jones game are good, we can drive more vehicles, (my son loves the tree cutter) the puzzles are more challenging, we actually have to target the items to shoot or whip, the solutions are not as obvious as before, the split screen is great, (no more dragging the other player) the boss fights are fun and my son has already spent hours building his own level. Changing up the formula is a good thing, it keeps the game interesting. I wouldn't want to buy a new version of the same game, please continue to make changes and improvements, good job developers. I'm looking forward to the Harry Potter game. Maybe they'll do a James Bond lego game too someday, think of the possibilities...

If you have children particularly boys you are most likely familiar with Skylander's. I recently found out this game came out before Skylander Giants and a lot of the skylanders we owned were compatible with this game. It's fun, a good game to add to your collection.

After I was "required" to upgrade my Xbox360, I was no longer able to use my FF13 faceplate. I decided to transfer the personalization to my PS3, for which I actually owned the game. It arrived in a little cardboard tube, slightly curled up. I carefully removed it from the non-stick paper and carefully applied to my PS3 slim. After carefully smoothing it down with a comb, it fit like a charm and looks great! Now, I look at my friends' PS3's and think how weird it would be to be without it!

While seeing all these console decal skins for the PS3 and being a fan of Final Fantasy I felt this would be a good choice and after getting it I see it was the correct choice. The decal comes in two parts the first is the main decal sticker of Lightning to cover the top portion of the PS3 and the second decal is the part that covers the on/off and eject button area. The decal sticker is easy enough to apply just start from the left of the PS3 console and slowly apply the decal to the area making sure that the area is cleaned from dirt an such, take the application slowly though and you might have to remove and reapply a few times to get it right but once you do your gaming console will look incredible. Also the decal is made of vinyl so don't worry about the possibility you might tear it while applying the decal to your PS3. Though it's a little pricey the design and quality of this decal skin makes it worth a good choice for anyone looking to spruce up their PS3 design...

This Guitar Hero game is by far my favorite, great game play, every song has its own unique style and flare from the digital band themselves. You do not have to play through the entire career mode to quickplay any song you want. However customizing your rocker is not as fun considering 80% of the songs that are fun to play are Metallica and you always have to play as the band. I rarely see my rocker at all.

Firstly, this has to be the hardest version of Guitar Hero. It's not Dragonforce hard, but still has lots of solos and strumming. I played on Expert only.

This version is pretty much setup exactly like Guitar Hero: World Tour. Same interface etc. The quickplay song list is set up in one big list ala World Tour & Rockband. Career mode is useless, all the songs are already unlocked in quickplay so why bother. 28 Metallica Songs, and 21 other artists. If you play a song in Career mode, that high score won't transfer down to the quickplay, like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith did.

I like Metallica, but not die-hard fan. Some of the songs are rather long. Mercyful fate takes awhile, I didn't have a stopwatch but it is listed as a 11 minutes 12 seconds long off that respective album, that seems about right.

Aside from System of A Down & perhaps Alice in Chains, these songs were subpar to play.

I liked Guitar Hero III & Aerosmith. But I'd advise renting this game, especially if you are not a die-hard Metallica fan or weren't too fond of Guitar Hero: World Tour. However, if you're really good and want more of a challenge on Expert, this may prove of some value.

Pretty good game overall. The reason why I got into Guitar Hero to start with, back in January 2009, was because I found out Metallica Guitar Hero would be coming out in March of that year. Metallica happens to be my favorite band of all time, I have been to their concerts, etc, so this game is probably one of the best and most enjoyable, FOR ME anyway, games I have ever played. Set up like any other Guitar Hero games, if you are really into it, then the difficulty level here is greater and a good challenge. If you are one of those people that will play, at most, at Medium Level in other guitar Hero games, then this may not be the best choice for you. In Guitar Hero World Tour I play every song in Advanced Level, and only a few in Expert. Guitar Hero Metallica is harder (and it makes sense because if any of you know the band at all, they have probably some of the best guitarrist and drummer in the world). The songs will require for you to go into Training Mode to be able to play them at Hard Level. Expert Level is for those people that have the time to spend several hours a day playing the game. You will find the Medium Level is HARD in many of the songs. Again, if you love Metallica like me, you will trully feel you are one of them, at least for a few seconds... if you only know a few Metallica songs, then think about it twice because this is ALL Metallica. One guy said some of the songs were too long, like Mercyful Fate or Orion, but really, to me is actually the opposite, I like they are long because I know their songs and they mean something to me.

I love Guitar Hero Metallica the band rocks there music rocks not to mention the 20 guest acts like Evil, and Judiest Priest if your a fan of awesome rock and Guitar Hero then this is your game. Oh by the way the models for the Metallica band and some of the guest like King Diamond and Lemmy of Moterhead look freakin amazing good job Activision

Disclaimer 1: I prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero World Tour, so part of my subjectivity will creep into this review, but hey, it's my opinion, so there!

Disclaimer 2: I own GH 1, 2, Rock the 80's, 3, Aerosmith, World Tour, and now Metallica. I own RB 1 and 2. I own Karaoke Revolution 1, 2, 3, 4, Country, Idol 1, and Idol 2. I own Sing It 1 and 2. So yeah, I've seen a number of these types of games.

This game is fully compatible with the GH:WT system, so all you need is to buy the game, and use existing peripherals. In fact, this game is also compatible with the RB guitar and RB mic (not sure if it's compatible with the RB2 guitar or drumset, since I don't have either, and I doubt it's compatible with either the RB1 or 2 drumset, since the RB drumsets have one less cymbal pad [basically, RB has a 4 +foot configuration, whereas GH:WT has the 3 +2cymbal +foot]).

The game plays exactly like GH:WT. Well, actually, it plays more like GH:Aerosmith, but with mic and drumset, in that you play as your own band, but during encores and such, you become Metallica (like how you turned into Aerosmith for GH:A). I love Metallica, so having all the songs available together (as opposed to spread throughout the GH and RB sets) is great. For about a buck a song, this collection is worth it.

So, why not 5 stars? I don't like the way GH throws big banners onto the screen when you reach certain streaks or point streaks, just let me know that at the end of a song! With 4 instruments on at the time, the characters moving in the background, and the individual streak counters and scoring and overall band performance meter, I have enough information to see the stupid streak info. I wished there was a way to turn it off. I also think the RB series does a better job tracking your tone as you sing (in fact, RB's tracking is more like KR's tracking). RB also shows via a moving piechart the fraction of each portion of your vocals fills the meter, something you don't get in GH. Without the better tracking and the moving piechart, it's hard to figure out why you didn't get perfect scores in vocals.

Again, though, still highly recommended.

This new Rapala Fishing Frenzy 2009 was so much fun. It even made the controller act like a real fishing rod with both the casting and reeling in the fish. The pictures are very clear and there is quite a choice of tackle and many different fish to catch. Even my son who is an avid fisherman loved the game and wanted to play it again and again. He had the older version for the PlayStation 2 and said that this one was so much better. There are different choices of lakes and you can even stop fishing and drive the boat to different locations on the lake. This game is real winner for all ages. Even my 4 year old grandson loves it and is able to play it.

I can tell you through experience there is no better value out there right now in gaming consoles. I have the 120 gb version of this product and I paid $300.00 just for that and the 6 axis controller. The internet hook up was fast and easy. You're online almost instantaneously which means I often check emails using the ps3 instead of my desktop Vista PC which takes 5 minutes or more to get on line. I'd recommend a Standard USB Keyboard ($10.99 w/super saver shipping) for typing in text while surfing or signing up for the Playstation Network because it's way faster than using the 6 axis controller. The photo section of this product got no press in the promo but it is world class. You just plug your digital camera into one of the usb ports, download some software from the internet for free by prompt and you have 4 different versions of slide shows featuring the music you upload to the ps3 or the music that comes with the software, your choice. I haven't tried uploading videos. The graphics are just stunning on my 720p Plasma. There is no better gaming console for graphics than the PS3. With these two games, 'Ratchet & Clank' & 'SingStar Dance Party Pack', I think you have a super compelling family value. The Wii I don't know, I returned mine because of internet connectivity issues,(no pppoe support for ethernet connections). I can tell you through experience you'll have no such issues with the ps3 and your graphics will be much better because of the HDMI hookup and the NVIDIA graphics engine. The 6 axis controller is a quality controller that should afford years of trouble free service and right now you can buy another one for $40.00 if you want a backup or need to play two people at a time. If you're into the motion control fad you can purchase a move controller/eye camera package with 'Sports Champions' for under $100.00 but in all honesty I don't think you're missing much. I have one and use it occasionally but the 6 axis controller is really where it's at for me. You should get an HDMI cable with this. It's essential for the highest resolution picture. Amazon sells a good 6 footer for $6.99 and no additional shipping. Additional nice things to have though not essential would be the extra controller as mentioned previously, a Nyko 2 controller charge station($17.99),(charges two 6 axis controllers without a usb cable and is the best charger available), and the USB keyboard also previously mentioned. This is a fantastic deal on a quality package. Get it for your kids but know that as an adult you made a decision based on quality that will pay dividends for years to come. According to my watt meter this product only draws about 70 watts when playing disc based 720p video games. I was surprised by that being that the product is rated at 230 watts. I tested it on a 32 inch and a 42 inch television and the watt draw was about the same.

This is my first Amazon review. I am making this review as somewhat of a "guide" for people who are thinking of purchasing this bundle and need help deciding. I hope whoever reads this finds it informative and helpful!

What you are looking at here is the Playstation 3 160GB Amazon family bundle. It comes with a PS3 160GB, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, SingStar + Dance Party Pack, and $25 in credit on Amazon's video game store.

As the title implies this is definitely a good bundle for anyone that wants a more family oriented experience. But we all know that PS3 is considered a hardcore gaming console because of it's raw power, so the bundle is also good for getting started and getting some nice sweet little extras. The two games that come with it along with the $25 in credit total are worth around $91 so you will easily be able to get at least one or two new PS3 games from Amazon and selling or trading in the included games if you wish.

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time is the final third chapter in the Ratchet & Clank Future series, the first two being Tools Of Destruction and Quest For Booty. Before you pass on Ratchet & Clank I highly recommend you give it a try even if you are not a platform gamer. I am not a platform gamer but I have highly enjoyed the Ratchet & Clank series. It may be a family friendly game but it is hilarious (they are constantly whipping joke after joke) and a blast to play with tons of hidden stuff to find. I am living proof that probably just about anyone who bought this bundle could get into the game.

SingStar + Dance Party Pack may be another story. Initially I planned to sell it which you could do and get good money for it on Ebay, but I decided to keep it in case my girlfriend wanted to play it or we had friends over, whatever. Looking on the back of the case once I received the bundle I realized that there were actually some pretty good songs on it and it has the ability to download new songs from PSN. It does include two microphones as well and a USB adapter to connect both mics. The mics are well made and good quality. They fell heavy and as well-made as a professional mic in your hand, honestly. Still I know a lot of hardcore gamers looking at this bundle or a lot of other people are not going to be interested in this game. Like I said it can be sold for a good price if you leave it unopened.

Then there's the PS3 system itself. Unlike bundles we're used to seeing, it's not a bundle that actually comes with Ratchet & Clank and SingStar bundled in the PS3 box. Rather Amazon takes a big box and puts a normal PS3 160GB in it and packages a copy of Ratchet & Clank and SingStar along in the big box with the PS3 box. A fair word of warning (if it matters to anyone) that this PS3 does not come with a Blu-ray disc with previews and videos of movies and PS3 games. Not too big a deal but I rather liked those discs which came with all my previous PS3 units I bought new. The normal stuff comes with the PS3 160GB you'd normally expect in a PS3 package...The unit itself, AV cables (HDMI cable still sold separately), Dual Shock 3 SIX AXIS controller, power adapter, and paperwork.

So all in all if you are looking at starting out on a PS3, switching to one, or upgrading from a fat model, this bundle is perfect. There are other bundles that were available for Black Friday with better games and a movie that are probably harder to find now, but that doesn't mean you can't sell or trade the included games and then use the $25 in credit on Amazon's video game store toward new games...Although the Ratchet & Clank game is a generally very good game that most people who bought this bundle would want to keep I would think.

On another note, surprisingly enough, the $25 in credit can also be used toward accessories. Anything in th video game store that is shipped and sold by Amazon. I used mine on a brand-new copy of Borderlands and a brand-new PSP car charger. The total order ended up being $0.66 Hard to beat. :)

While I'm a relatively hardcore gamer, Tiger Woods 09 for the PS3 was my first experience playing a golf game on the current generation of consoles.

Bearing that disclaimer in mind, two words have summed up my experience with the title so far: cohesive fun. This is a game that just seems to be put together well. Playing on normal difficulty, I've found the gameplay and controls to be incredibly intuitive. I was a bit leery of the analog swing control given experiences with other games, but they've nailed it here. It ended up feeling like a very natural way to play the game and reminded me of playing Golden Tee at the arcades. The more traditional 3 click method is also available but I haven't even needed to try it.

The game tracks your skills in four different categories and these can either rise or decline after each round. It set me around 3.5 (out of 10) initially and I've seen steady increases.

Online functionality is executed well. There are persistent GamerNet challenges which present distance or accuracy challenges based on other users performances. This provides a constant extra incentive to nail a shot or improve.

Other reviews have noted that the game might be too easy but I've found it to be just right so far. I'm not making birdies and eagles on every shot but I'm also not stuck making triple bogeys either. The best compliment I can give the game is that it makes the process of playing extremely natural with almost no learning curve (however there is plenty of depth as well).

After the major disappointment with Tiger Woods 2008 I went back to the 2005 version of the game. 2008 was hard to play and not much fun. But I'm happy to say that the 2009 Tiger Woods game is great. The way it looks, the way it plays is so much better then 2008. I will allow others who are better at writing reviews give the details. I can just say I didn't like 2006 , 2007 or 2008. I did like 2005 and this is better then 2005. A major improvement.

I agree with all of the pro and con comments made by the other reviewers. This game is an enjoyable alternative to the shooters that are out there. The graphics are great. I had a group over for Labor Day including two avid and excellent golfers, one who had played Pebble Beach. They got into a stroke play game that had the women watching and enjoying.

The game is easy to pick up and learn. Unlike watching golf on TV, you get to follow the trajectory of the ball and see what happened prior to the ball coming down. The career path is fun and pulls you in from the start. In short, the game is well laid out and no where near as complicated to learn as a game such as Madden 09.

I purchased this to have an alternative in my game collection to shooters and something that could be played at gatherings. That meant easy to learn and something watchable to those not directly involved in the game. The game has a good amount of variety to provide a lot of play time. If you measure the value of game by the number of minutes of play time you get from the game without it getting old, you will definitely get your money's worth.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009 is a great golf experience, if you do not own a nextgen version. 2009 has better graphics, and is a fun all-around game. I think the best feature is online play and your "best shot" clip saving system.

This game isn't perfect. I have almost played every golf game ever developed, since "Links" (Some of you old timers will know what that is.)

This game is very good. Even though my dude doesn't seem to look like me. (They allow you to add your own face to avitar.) Good mechanics, good graphics, (Of course I play on Playstation Three and have a 50 inch HD TV so I am spoiled. I like the role playing aspect of it and the fact that you can't save your game untill you complete the round. Otherwise of course one could play every hole till the got a birdie and then save and go on to the next hole.(Make sure you allow enough time to finish else you have to replay the whole 18 holes.) I don't think you can go wrong buying this version.

I think we would all like another installment in the single player Ratchet and Clank franchise; However I am not going to bash insomniac games for trying something new. This product is as advertised, a 4-player co-op plat-former. Anyone who has taken the time to read or watch an advertisement for this game should have known that it wouldn't be like the rest of the RaC games. Overall it isn't a bad game, but still I have some nitpicking to do.

First off, because it is a 4-player game you do not have control over the camera. This gives the feeling that the game isn't as detailed as its single player predecessors. Still there are some beautiful levels that give the ratchet and clank feeling. Another thing that bugs me are the circles that float bellow the characters. It makes me feel like I am playing Marvel Ultimate Allience or something.

Now, I can't speak for everyone but RaC is sort of a guilty pleasure type of game because I am an adult. That is one of the things I like about the series is that, it is an 'e' rated game that can actually be enjoyed by EVERYONE. Still in this game the characters tend to say cheesy one-liners such as, "that was good teamwork buddy!" This makes you stop and realize that you are playing a children's game. The multi-player mode itself seems like a gimmick for little kids. I don't see myself telling my friends "man, drop that Madden 2012 bulls!@t so we can throw down on some ratchet and clank!" But if you do have children than this would be a major plus, as the multi-player mode is actually pretty fun.

Overall the game is pretty fun. I think the nostalgia for the series will be both the saving grace and downfall for this game. People who are big fans of the series will enjoy a change of pace from the conventional RaC titles, but those who want more of the same will despise this game. Its definitely worth playing as long as you are open minded to something new.

I love the Ratchet and Clank series. I jumped from PS2 to PS3, knowing some changes would occur. Some changes were better than others, but I still enjoyed the first two games for PS3. Then along came All 4 One. I am about 3/4 through the game at the moment and I can honestly say;

I HATE THIS GAME.

I'm going to finish it out of some vain hope that it will somehow redeem itself and restore my faith in a brand I've been loyal to up until this point. But let's face itI've got 25% of the game to gothey botched this one big time.

I suppose my first hint should have been lack of camera controls (it's all wide-screen... and down-hill... Seriously, I spent half my time falling off some random edge because everything's so damn tiny) and that enjoying the game's graphics seems only truly achievable if you own an 80" flat-screen (I have an old 24" screen sorry I'm not rich Insomniac). Then there was the lack of strafe and the way the basic firing controls had been altered... (aaaand we're swiching to bullet points here)

-Then there's the A.I. (which you HAVE to play alongside if in single player mode)infuriatingly lacking in the "I" part of that abbreviation as well as glitchy as hell... all in ways that will very likely get you killed or force you to take actions you are not ready/wanting to yet because it "knows what to do next" and drags you along for the merry bloody ride.

-Half the weapons are useless and glitchy (don't bother with short-ranged weapons9 out of 10 times they are ineffective will get you killed. But longer range will randomly switch targets or suddenly become out of range of the target... also effectively getting you killed.)

-Battles seem to be mapped out less on challenge and skill and more on how much ammo they can force you to waste. In fact they're generally a giant blur of light where I can't tell where I am or what I'm doing.

-And if you get hit... well game over, because you'll get stunned, and then get hit again while you're trying to get up. I mean seriously WHAT is the bloody point of that?!?

-The characters in play keep repeating the same 5 or 6 lines over and over endlessly (I actually had to stop playing as Clank because if I heard him say "Don't worry little creature, we will not harm you," one more time I was going to punch the screen.)

-The oddball comedy is all but gone.

-Arenas: gone.

-Space battles: gone.

-Bosses... they all started to look the same after a while. Not very creative.

-The ability to upgrade weapons on multiple tiersgone. Instead replaced by a "buy upgrades" feature of which there are 3 per weapon... and not very impressive I must say.

-The "treasure hunt" portion (bolts, schematics, etc) of the game is nonexistentagain replaced by some lame "pet collector" thing which LEADS NOWHERE. Yay, I sucked a giant hamster into my vacuum... and I get bolts for it... whup di-do...

-And Puzzles? Ha! I'm going back to the Sunday crossword... more challenging, more interesting and vastly less insipid.

Near as I can tell the designers tried to change too much and lost a lot (ok, most) of what made the games great (to me at least.) Hope the next one is better or I'm seriously going to have to find a new franchise.

Gone are the engaging and visually complex worlds, each with their many layers of game play and hidden gems all waiting for you to explore as you desire. Gone are the vast arrays of creative weapons and the ability to play your character as you see fit. Gone are the mini games space fights, races, flights, arena battles, etc. Gone are the controls we've all come accustomed to. Gone pretty much sums it up. Instead, the game looks and feels cheap, hollow, gutted of its original depth and intent, akin to one you might download all this stripping seeming to make room for trendy 3D visuals and internet multiplayer game play. If hooking up with 3 other friends to control the tiniest of characters along a shallow linear path, spending most of your time mindlessly breaking boxes, sucking up animals, and briefly shooting at easy-to-kill enemies is your desire, then here ya go. But if you were hoping to settle in to a long weekend with the latest immersive R&C, I guess we'll just have to keep waiting. I personally haven't been this disappointed with a R&C release since Deadlocked, and that includes all the PSP releases as well.

Ratchet & Clank: you know them, you love them. They've been around for ten games now and the formula has not changed much over the years. All 4 One is Insomniac's response to fans asking for something new and exciting for our Lombastic hero and his shiny compadre, and let me tell you...it works like a charm.

All 4 One is an absolute blast whether you play it offline by yourself, on the couch with some friends, or online with others. You can select Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark or Dr. Nefarious even when playing single player. Every character plays pretty much the same but they all have a different special weapon. Ratchet has The Dopplebanger, Clank has the Zoni Blaster which slows enemies, Qwark has a shield called the Quantum Deflector and Nefarious has a cloaking device called...the Cloaker. When playing single player, Clank is your partner unless you select Clank as your character. When you select Clank, Qwark is your partner character...and he somehow jams himself onto Clank's back. It's quite amusing.

As always you have a multitude of whacky weapons at your disposal. GrummelNet once again serves as the vendor but they are now represented by some metallic friends from Tools of Destruction. That's right, Cronk and Zephyr make their triumphant return to the series. I won't spoil any of the story for you but I can assure you that the dialogue is as humorous as ever and the cutscenes are very well done. Speaking of cutscenes, they are not skippable. This would not be a problem if it only happened the first time but you have incentive to replay pretty much every level. Having to sit through the cutscenes every time will no doubt be irritating for some. I'm sure that Insomniac will address this at a later date. Graphically speaking, this is one beautiful game. So many modern games are dark: full of greys, browns and reds. It's refreshing when something as colorful as Ratchet & Clank comes along; some of the landscapes are truly breathtaking.

Ratchet & Clank All 4 One features a more linear level structure than the other games in the series, but don't worry, veterans will still feel right at home. The fixed camera and straight-forward progression makes sense for a game where co-op is a focus, it works. While the camera is fixed, there are still plenty of hidden areas to find and alternate routes to take. Gold bolts have been replaced with Hero bolts, these are used to unlock alternate character skins and they also give you more incentive to explore and replay levels. This brings me to an interesting bit: Each character's progression is tracked separately. Your bolts, weapons, Hero bolts and records are separate for each of the four characters. When playing with a friend you get bonuses for things like collecting the most bolts or getting the most kills; this adds a bit of competitive flair to the co-op and I think it's great. One of the more prominent mechanics of the game is that you can tether yourself to your partner, which is essential for crossing gaps or saving yourself from a fall. It's basically a cooperative Swingshot. If you die and your partner is still around you can be revived by them. If they don't save you it's ok, you will respawn after a few seconds. If everyone goes down, back to the last checkpoint you go.

One of the biggest concerns out there for this game is whether it is still fun as a single player experience. Worry not, Constant Gamer, playing this game by your onesies is just as magnificent as it is playing with three friends. The difficulty scales based on how many characters you are playing with, which makes cooperation all the more important. I find it more manageable to play on your own. I played online with 4 players for two levels and it was chaotic but fun; if you are playing with people you know that are using headsets I am sure it's just fine. On the subject of playing online, All 4 One does feature an online pass so you will need to buy this new if you want to play online. As with many PS3 games there is a mandatory install, there was also a tiny day-one patch, everything added up to 2,484 MB and it took about 8 minutes.

There you have it, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is another great entry in the series, albeit different. I really don't have any legitimate complaints. There are still plenty of things to collect and skill points to acquire. Grab your wrenches and get to it!

Edited to add: I completely forgot to mention that this game has a reversible cover. It still features the PS3 logo but it's positively hilarious. Buy it to find out...or just look it up online.

Sadly, it's over. It's all over. The beloved Ratchet and Clank series is in its death throes. What was once a charming and inventive platformer has now become a mind-numbing and creativity-crippled generic corridor shooter. It was bound to happen though, right? Gamers are drowning in a sea of console shooters these days, from Call of Duty and Killzone to Gears of War and Halo, so is it really so surprising that even games that started out as platformers are becoming more like current shooters?

Gone is the feeling of exploration that dominated the previous R&C games. You no longer have planets and moons to discover and pilfer as you see fit, as the game progression is startlingly linear. There's no exploration allowed within each level either, as you're funneled from one corridor or floating rock to the next and to the next and to the next. You won't be searching high and low for gold bolts, as they're pretty much sitting out in the open right in front of you. Skill points tell you exactly what to do to unlock them so you don't have to worry about taxing your brain.

The weapons just don't have the same level of ingenuity or excitement as in previous R&C games. A lot of the weapons are similar or identical to weapons from previous games, and those that aren't just don't seem to belong. In any case, the utility of many of the weapons doesn't really exist. You can run through the entire game using the standard cannon, the rocket launcher, Mr. Zurkon, and maybe one more weapon without resorting to using any of the others. (Sidenote: This game gets 2 stars instead of 1 solely on account of Mr. Zurkon, who is still incredibly awesome). Still, the gunplay (once a staple of R&C) is not addictive or exciting in this outing.

Controls are also odd. Since the game is meant to be played with multiple people, no one has control over the camera angle except the computer. If you're keenly used to using the right analog stick to control the camera as in previous R&C games, then you'll find yourself irritatingly changing weapons by accident, which is now managed by moving the R stick. It's something that people can get used to, I guess, but I never did, and it was like a sharp pebble in my boxers throughout the entire game.

The gameplay basically revolves around running from one battle to the next, shooting up waves after waves of enemies, running through the reload ammo checkpoint, and doing it all over again. By the time you hit the halfway point of the game, you will notice that each battle has become eerily reminiscent of one you already fought. It'll start out with about 8 rotating laser drones, then 2-3 standing/bomb drones show up, then like 8 boxing drones, then a flying gravity drone, etc. The enemy variety just isn't there, and it becomes painfully obvious early on and throughout the game. The last two levels in particular are a tedious exercise in the limits of human patience as you're literally fighting the same five waves over and over again as you move toward the final endpoint. Wait until you fight the final boss. It. just. never. seems. to. end.

If you're not planning on playing this game with human teammates, then just go ahead and take this advice: Don't play this game. Playing by yourself pairs you up with a near-retarded AI teammate who brings to the combat table the uncanny ability to read your mind and do exactly what you hope he doesn't do. Clank, I need you to activate that switch once I open this panel. Well, Clank was planning on opening the panel instead of activating the switch and now he's all confused and is stuck moving back and forth like a moving paper target. Clank, I need you to shoot this boss with me so we can create a more damaging attack. Too bad, Clank is inexplicably bolting to the edge of the floating platform and leaping to his death over and over again. Time to reload the checkpoint. Again *sigh*. These problems are obviously avoided by playing with a human friend (unless your friend is near-retarded too), but if a game is not adjusted appropriately by a development studio to be played as a single player game, then the option shouldn't be available. It just makes the project look messy.

When playing the game in coop form, hopefully with humans, the main draw (and purpose) of this game is to make everyone work together to beat levels. This always sounds great on paper as with most coop games, but the vast majority of developers cannot for the life of them figure out how to implement co-op tactics well (and Insomniac is no exception). Well, here's the dirty secret: levels should be designed so that they are essentially unbeatable unless the coop-ers work together and each fill a separate and mandatory responsibility, ideally one that is not glaringly obvious or limited to one sole strategy. This rarely happens in practice, unfortunately. What usually suffices for the co-op experience is one of the following watered-down events:

1. You cannot exit a level unless both players press X at the door, and a cutscene follows of one player holding the door open for the other player to walk through. Thanks, bro.

2. Both players are funneled toward a deadend that requires each player to hit x so that one gives the other a helpful boost to the ledge. That player then hits X so he can help the other player up. Thanks, bro.

3. One player activates and holds a switch so the other player can walk through the newly opened door and activate and hold an identical switch on the other side, allowing the first player to walk through or activate another, previously blocked switch. Thanks, bro.

4. You and a friend basically empty round after round of your ammunition into seemingly endless hordes of enemies until they're all dead, with no real focus or strategy. Keep shooting, bro.

#3 and #4 make up 95% of R&C All4One.

Hooray for co-op!!!

Ok, I'm done. This game sucks in general and sucks even more for dragging an otherwise great series into the dark, fecaline depths of generic gaming. We don't need another mindless corridor shooter and certainly don't need a once-non-mindless-corridor shooter turning into one.

Let's all hope Insomniac returns to form with the next game.
