First off I received it in this cheap little clear bag about 2" by 3". no brand name or sku # on the bag or anything but the biggest disappointment is that it wasn't the same cover. It had no side grips like the one in the picture. another problem that the skin covers the lights on the front of the controller. There is a skin that Sony sells at Target which is Sony licensed that fits a lot better and is a cooler looking dark blue color, has an opening for the front lights and is way better quality. It sells for $8.00.

One of the few purchases I've ever made that is in the "comfortably exceeded expectations" league. The Playstation controller has been the best designed of any for a long time until the Xbox 360 controller which is, I think, a better size, texture, and trigger design making it, overall, the best now. Now the PS2 controller seems too small and cramped.

On top of that, the smooth plastic worsens sweaty hand issues and just doesn't feel as stable as the "tackier" texture of the Xbox 360. Well, this grip solves at least the texture problem. It not only reduce the impact of sweaty hands, but seems to actually make my hands sweat less. Much nicer feel than the smooth plastic, plus it adds a bit of color.

A bit tough getting it on, but once there, it's a great fit. It sounds ridiculous to say a product like this can have any noticeable impact on your gaming enjoyment, but it not only does have an impact, but one far beyond it's price. Killer value.

One of the best accessories purchase and just straight up ANY purchase I've ever made. Well pleased. Highly recommend this product.

I did not want light blue, but that is the least expensive one. This cover is really nice, makes the contoller way more comfortable. I wanted to make the contoller bigger and this helps with that. Now all I need are analog stick covers

This PS3 Controller skin was not what is pictured, so if your looking for a plain skin cover this is not it. This is the one that "mycarryingcase" sells that's pictured with ridges on the side, thats what this one is. I had bought some during the christmas holidays for my nephews, and fit quite well don't get me wrong. But i have one controller skin i bought at a Target store and its very plain and simple but does the job well. I thought i was getting a plain and simple one but i was wrong. So somebody needs to get the picture corrected. again very good product just complaining about the presentation.

Man. don't drop a hundo on an HDMI cable. This one is great. the TV says 1080p, just like with the other one. The other one may be made from "more better metal" but there's a finite speed that electrons can travel.

I received this game from Amazon yesterday. Last night my buddy and I were playing this in co-op mode and it is really fun. I have heard all over ther internet about how the xbox version is far superior blah blah blah.....whatever, it's a great game and it's great on the PS3 as well. So far I haven't seen a single issue with this game for the PS3. Don't let someone's opinion of what they read from uncle Fred's obscure website deter you from buying this for the PS3. Form an opinion of your own from actually playing it on the PS3.

If you love smashing some zombie faces in then you will love this game. The only annoying thing is having to get the Zombrex to your daughter by a certain time but I guess you have to have a story in it too.

I never usually review a game before completing it, but I will do it for this title. Why I hear you ask? well it's simple, really. This game is just too awesome not to talk about! Seriously if you are a fan of Zombie maiming then this is the game for you!

The premise:

You are Chuck Green contestant on the hit game show Terror Is Reality, where you slay thousands of zombies in a coliseum like setting for huge cash prizes. You are framed for a crime you did not commit, unleashing hordes of the undead upon the hapless residents of Fortune City. Chuck Green has 72 hours to clear his name and keep his infected daughter alive with daily doses of the controversial drug "Zombrex". The clock is ticking for Chuck Green, will he make it through the worst 72 hours of his life?

The good:

Literally hundreds of "Basic" weapons to maul and maim your undead adversaries. Everything is a weapon!

A whole host of upgradeable weapons that cause mucho devastation to those walking bags of rotting flesh.

Tongue in cheek story that provides a ton of laughs

Sandbox environment, go anywhere, do anything.

Many side quests and mini games like Slot machines, Weapon Creation, Drink Mixing and Strip Poker.

Graphics are pretty good for the massive amount of Zombies on screen at one time (Over 7,000!)

Awesome leveling system the more you kill the better you get at killing!

Great Animation, the zombies look and act like real zombies!

vehicles. Mow down Zombies with even more efficiency in these motorized death machines.

Lots of outfits to choose from, You can dress up as a skater dude or daisy duke, the options are endless!

Extreme Gore, Bathe in the blood of your adversaries!

The Bad:

Long Loading times when changing areas

A ton of escort missions, not really that bad because the A.I is ok. It just gets old after a while

Stuttering graphics/framerate due to the many monsters on screen at once.

Timed missions, must complete the missions in a set time or you miss out on the story mode until your next play through.

clumsy controls, many times I accidentally took a survivors weapon or had to run around something I wanted to pick up until the icon would appear.

Lack of DLC for PS3 users. Xbox 360 is getting all the exclusive stuff right now, pretty disappointing but I am sure that will change with time.

Conclusion:

If you love to slay zombies for hours on end then this is the game for you, the carnage you can cause is staggering! (Im talking flying limbs and zombies being cut clean in half). There is so much to see and do but sadly you are rushed through with these silly timed missions. On more than one occasion I would have loved to stay and investigate an area but had to hustle to the next chapter of the story. I understand why this feature was added it does add a sense of urgency to the overall game but it can be pretty irritating and intrusive. Luckily doing these missions are optional, if you miss out on a main story mission the the game "Ends" as in you can no longer participate in the story you can still play out the 72 hours however you like. This I find adds a ton of replayability to an already expansive game, this was a definite day one buy for me and it should be for anyone else who loves zombie slaying action! Add to that the expansive leveling system (There are 50 I beleive) and the online both competative and co-op (Which I have yet to dabble in) and this will be a game that will stay in your system for months to come.

The timed missions coupled with repetativness loses it one star, this is a game that is carried on one great Idea, kill tons of zombies however you like and it does a hell of a job in that department. 4/5 stars.

Deadrising 2 is about two things, zombie killing and getting your daughter Zombrex so she doesn't wig out and turn into a zombie. There are other things thrown in like a game show and rescuing people but the real plot line is about finding out who framed you for letting the zombies loose and getting your daughter zombrex.

So what is fun about this game? Killing zombies with all the combo weapons you make! You can combine nails with a bat to make a devastating weapon, combine a bucket with power drills, and on and on. Pretty much anything can be used to kill zombies from a beach umbrella, to a protestors sign, to a wheelchair...it's pretty much almost anything. While the zombie killing is fun sometimes when you are in missions and you don't have a mode of transportation (car, bike, etc.) it seems to take forever to get to where you need to go and dodging zombies gets a little boring. You can't just walk and kill all the zombies as that would take a looooong time for you to get where you are going.

The story is interesting and the game has somewhat of a grand theft auto feel at times as you are going on "missions". The online multiplayer is actually more fun to me than the single player game. You hook up with three other people to compete on the gameshow in a set of zombie challenges. Sometimes it's sniping zombies, sometimes it zomboning (crushing zombies on a zamboni then spewing their blood into a target) or it is plowing through zombies using chainsaws on a motorcycle. These games are a blast to play with others and you can cash in your winnings to use the money in the single player game...which can really help. The co-op play is a lot of fun as well since having a partner makes for all kinds of fun zombie slaying.

The only downsides here are that sometimes the zombie killing or running to destinations can be a little monotinous. The story won't win any academy awards but it serves it's purpose. Overall a fun game but not as good as the best PS3 titles that are similar (i.e. uncharted 2, infamous, etc.). If you don't own an xbox 360 and have never played this game I think it would be a fun purchase for most people. The multiplayer along makes it a blast in my opinion.

When I first saw footage of Dead Rising 2, I immediately noticed it looked identical to the first game in nearly every way, except that you didn't get to take pictures anymore. That was a key feature in the first game, and was actually a lot of fun. Now a few years later, ps3 owners have a chance to try out a Dead Rising game for the first time. Is it worth the wait? Well, it depends on what kind of gameplay you like. If you like straight up action, hack 'n slash or shoot 'em ups, Dead Rising 2 might not be for you. If you like to plan things out and are big on time management, you'll probably have a better time with DR2 than other people. Oddly enough, I'm not in either one of those categories, but I went into this one with a clean slate, and found myself not having a whole lot of fun. Maybe it's because I'm sick of zombies, the current overused game/movie enemy, but I thought I'd be having a bit more fun than I ended up having here.

This time around, you play as Chuck, a motorcyclist who's stuck in a mall with his daughter Katey, who was bitten by a zombie. She hasn't turned into one yet because Chuck's been giving her Zombrex, a drug that fights the infection, but when you start the game, you're all out. You main objective is to run around the mall and other nearby locations, looking for Zombrex, which needs to be given to Katey at a precise time (never before the time frame either), otherwise she's gone. Later as the story progresses (and this is an early story point in the first 30 minutes, so I'm not really spoiling anything), it turns out that the military is on their way to the mall. If they find Katey in her condition, they'll take her away. So now Chuck needs to start fixing up his motorcycle in order to escape. While out and about, you'll find other survivors who you can help save, and you can even have a friend join in for some good drop in/drop out co-op gameplay, which is a HUGE help in getting missions done, and provides a distraction from the seemingly millions of zombies you'll be taking out.

That's one thing the game definitely does rightoverwhelms you with zombies. There aren't just a couple hundred in the mall, no, there are tons. Check out the trophy list for DR2 and you'll see that you only get bronze trophies for taking out huge numbers, which takes a while to do. Most of the zombies aren't that tough, and can be taken out with a few hits of your standard melee weapons, but it's the sheer numbers that'll get to you. I found myself dying a few times as soon as I entered the first section of the mall. Chuck's inventory is fairly small at first too, and since you need item slots to hold everything, even healing items, it's a good idea to carry two food/drink items with you whenever you can. As you go through the game, you'll be able to carry more, but it takes time. Leveling up is done via PP, which is earned as you kill zombies, usually with powerful attacks or with customized weapons. This is another good thing about DR2the number of customizable weapons, and how creative they are. You want a chainsaw on each end of a boat paddle? You got it. Machine guns on the arm rests of a wheelchair? Check. Drill spear? Bingo. Finally, while the story isn't anything special, I did like the father/daughter aspect, where Chuck's top priority is Katey's safety, and showing how much he cares for her. Even in the opening cutscene, someone brings up 'your next of kin' and Chuck tells him, with a bit of attitude, that she has a name.

Alright, it sounds like the game's fine based on that, right? So why give it 2 stars overall? The gameplay is too slow for my tastes, especially in the beginning. Yes, I know your speed gets better as you progress through the game, but there's just no excuse for Chuck to be moving as slow as he does in the first part of the game. I kept trying to figure out if there was a run/sprint action by holding a button down, because his normal run sure doesn't move much faster than say, Kratos walking in God of War 3. A big garbage can hits pretty fast, but some smaller weapons take a while to swing, and the recovery time is horrible. Chuck's movements could've also used some polish, and I was never positive when I'd be able to evade an attack by jumping over a zombie. Evading would've helped the game big time, and is almost standard in most action game these days, but the right thumbstick is set to moving the camera (something you'll be doing a lot of). Also there'll be times when so many items are available for Chuck to grab, that you'll have to be in -just the right spotin order to get the one you want. Positioning him just right can take a few seconds, and most of the time you won't be wanting to waste time just to get a tomahawk instead of vinyl records when there are 20 zombies 5 feet away. And like I said earlier, time management is very important. There are a good number of times when multiple missions will be open at once, or you'll have a chance to help a survivor before finishing the main mission. An example that comes to mind immediately is when I had Zombrex for Katey, then found another person who was infected and needed Zombrex as well. I could either leave him for dead, or give him the Zombrex, then try to find more for Katey or get enough money to buy some at the pawn shop. Guess what happened to him? Yeah, he was toast. If there was enough time to help him, I would've, but with the time limit on giving Katey her medicine, you just can't afford to help people sometimes. Add to this some frequent loading screens (even after a quick 30 second cutscene) and bathrooms, the game's take on save points, that are usually very far away from one another, and you have a game that is often challenging but not in a good or fun way. And for what it's worth, the visuals look pretty dated too, almost like this could've been done 3 years ago.

If you haven't played a Dead Rising game before, I'd recommend renting DR2 before spending money on it at the current price. Good voice acting, a good main character, smart customization in the weapons, and truly making you feel like it's a zombie apocalypse are all some big selling points to me. But the cons build up to the point where the game frustrated me too much to care about giving it a second play through.

PLOT:

It's been 5 years since the Willamette disaster, and you are playing the role of Chuck Greene, a former motorcycle champion who ends up in Fortune City with his daughter Katey. A zombie outbreak occurs, and it's up to Chuck to keep his daughter safe, clear his name, and escape the city within 3 days.

GAMEPLAY:

From the beginning, Chuck starts off with the basics, his hands and feet. As you wander around the mall, it's clear that weapons will be needed. It doesn't matter if it's a bow & arrow, a golf club, a gumball machine, a lawnmower, a picture frame, or a bottle of ketchup....if Chuck can pick it up, chances are he can use it as a weapon. Zombies are pretty much EVERYWHERE, and when 7pm rolls around, it's not a good time to be without a Super B.F.G. because the zombies take an extra dose of the crazy.

Killing zombies earns character Prestige Points, which in turn levels up inventory slots, strength, hit points, offensive and defensive capabilities. Frank West may have earned PP by taking pictures of zombies, but Chuck Greene earns his PP by creating the most insane weaponry and using them on zombies.

Chuck has a series of case files to complete over the course of 3 days and during this time he can choose to try and save random survivors throughout the city, attempt to defeat psychopaths who have lost their minds due to the zombie outbreak, and try to find the life-giving Zombrex medicine that his daughter needs every day to survive. Or, he can choose to do nothing more than wander from store to store trying on clothes or gambling in the casinos.

HOW MANY ZOMBIES?

"More zombies than you can shake a stick at" seems to be putting it mildly. The first Dead Rising boasted 800 zombies on screen, but Dead Rising 2 boasts an upgrade to 7,000 zombies on screen. The crowds of zombies are definitely creepy, especially when you don't know which ones will be making a lunge for your face until they're on top of you. Sometimes there are frame rate dips if too much is happening on screen (such as...driving over a pack of zombies with an SUV?)

MULTIPLAYER:

A player can choose to complete the storyline with an online partner. This makes defeating psychopaths a lot easier than standard 1:1 fighting, and all case files must be completed in co-op to earn one of the game's trophies. A special shout-out to PSN player "PandaCidal", whose assistance was invaluable to me!

The second online gameplay mode is called Terror Is Reality. 4 players compete in 4 random events (there are 9 total) which feel like a combination of American Gladiators and Mortal Kombat. The only goal is to kill as many zombies as humanly possible within the allotted time in each event, and by session's end, you take your prize earnings and cash out to one of your game saves. Your character needs $50,000 to complete a game mission? No problem! Just do an online session of TIR and cash that out to your game save and the money's all there.

TROPHIES:

There's a LOT of busy work in getting all the trophies for Dead Rising 2. There are easy ones such as getting 5,000 zombie kills or mixing a drink, but for the more dedicated players there are a lot of time consuming ones like spray painting all the Zombrex posters, trying on every type of clothing, gathering all gifts for Katey or using every possible melee weapon against a zombie.

A good group of trophies, but not easy for casual gamers to complete. Some of these are missable during playthroughs unless you use a strategy guide.

CONS:

Firstly, the load times.....it has to be said, these load times are RIDICULOUS. Going through a door or moving from one part of the mall to another can take up to 20 seconds with each load. When you fight a psychopath, there's a cutscene...then a loading screen...then you fight...then there's a closing cutscene...and yet ANOTHER loading screen. If the gameplay designers were trying to achieve a frenetic pace with zombie killing, the load times killed this pacing deader than Latin.

Fans of the first game really miss Frank West and his camera. I can understand why, because that's what made the first game fun...getting pictures of zombies in horror, drama, or erotic poses (to name a few). It's a bitter pill to swallow, because I miss Frank West too.

I have trouble finding partners in co-op mode. Dead Rising 2 gives the option to join someone else but it only gives the option to join a friend, or join a random player at some random point in their gaming campaign. I don't have the option to "Host" an online session and get linked to a player like Resident Evil 5 (which I feel has a superior multiplayer menu).

I have noticed a few errors with Terror Is Reality. Sometimes during the Ramsterball game, players start in the game zone instead of above it. Other times I have noticed the targeting doesn't work and it's impossible to know who is "it". Sometimes players can glitch and get trapped on the walls in the Zomboni game.

Finally, the save slots. One of the things that made the first Dead Rising so hard and so challenging was having only one save slot. This left no margin of error and would require another run-through if something was missed. The survivors in Dead Rising 1 had a nasty habit of walking into packs of zombies, making trips back to the safehouse very difficult as the game progressed.

In Dead Rising 2, the characters are much better at avoiding zombies and can even use weapons, if they accept them from you. With 3 save slots and the improved AI, Dead Rising 2 is more forgiving...but some folks do miss that challenge.

FINAL VERDICT:

Even with all the aforementioned items, I really enjoyed Dead Rising 2. This gets 4 stars from me because I'm masochistic like that. My main goals are hacking up zombies like I've got a hunting license, collecting difficult trophies and playing some short, goofy and blood-soaked online gaming sessions. If you like the same things, then I think you'll get a kick out of Dead Rising 2.

Now if you get frustrated with weapons that break (and all of them eventually do), long load times and time-limit missions, you might want to give this game a pass. I'd recommend at least a rental...Once you combine a vacuum cleaner with saw blades and see the damage you can wreak, you might like it enough to buy it.

If nothing else, you'll learn how important duct tape will be when the zombie apocalypse arrives.

newsflash:Theres no possible way this game could help you learn the guitar! I had high hopes that it would. I dont know what the point of using a real guitar with strings is, if they are just going to copy guitar hero play format. If you dont already know , heres the facts: this game doesnt teach you anything about chords or how to play a guitar. It is basically a clone of guitar here. All it does is convert a real string guitar into a 5 button guitar hero guitar controller. You press down on the string as if it were a button, e.g. a one inch wide section is for the "green button" and another one for the "red button" and etc. The game even tells you that if the strings break its ok cuz you only need one string to play this game! wow I was so surprised. I really dont care if its a real guitar, cuz if I cant play it as a real guitar INSIDE of THE GAME then its useless to me(since I cant play it anyway).

also the main deal breaker was the crummy drums. The sensors simply stink. I dont know if mine were defective but I doubt it, i think the design just stinks. THey can detect the drum sticks about 60% of the time!!! ! why would you want to play a drum game with intermittent detection abilitys! o and By the way the drum base AND the sticks all need batteries. you have to unscrew the battery door to put em in, kind of annoying. ANd theres no way to turn anything offi guess it turns itself off EVENTALLY, i think it takes about 15 minutes or so. Why would you want to let it drain power from the batteries all that time(they need on/off buttons on this stuff!) ANyway the main point is the sensors just stink and they dont know when you are drumming. Plus its really more fun to hit the drums anyway.its really just not fun to air drum. maybe if they made this have sensors on the drum pads TOO, so it could detect it both ways, and you could hit it to make it work as well, it might be good then. I dont know if they were trying to eliminate noise or what, but the fact is little kids are going to hit the dang drum ANYWAY. it doesnt matter if they need to or are supposed to or not, they will still do it. Since it doesnt know when its getting hit it seems to make it even less accurate if you do end up hitting it (physically).

yah anyway id stay away frmo this little prototype of a game design until they figure out what they are trying to do. if they want to use a string guitar then they need to write some software that can teach and recognize real guitar chords in the game! otherwise ill just stick with guitar hero and button controllers! if they want to use sensors for drumming they better put alot more of them so its 100% accurate! otherwise my rock band drums are much more fun.

stay away from getting this, and just pray that they can improve the design in the future.

*please programmers, design a way to play this game using real guitar chords and real playing motions, and let us actually be able to learn to play the guitar with this kit.*

I know: Power Gig has been out for months. It was skewered by critics. It was bought by no one (hilariously, on YourGamerCards, a site used to track trophies, only 260 people have played this game, and only 6 have platted it).

BUT, it is now forty bucks at Gamestop, for the full band set. "What the heck?", I thought, and picked it up yesterday. And in the end, it's not the worst game I've ever played, but it's definitely the worst music game I've played, and it's not really that fun in the end.

THE GOOD:

Well, all games have something good about them, but I struggle to find it here. If I had to pick, I would say that it is minutely fun to sing along to the songs.

THE BAD:

-PERIPHERALS

No, I'm not talking about the quality of the peripherals. Actually, I don't think they're that bad, for something that I picked up for forty bucks. The guitar isn't going to win a beauty contest, but it does play. The AirStrike drums are silly, but the sensors do work (despite reports to the contrary in fact, they work a little TOO well for my liking). The microphone is a microphone.

So, what's the problem? Let's start with the guitar. Look, I like that your game has a real guitar. How about really using the guitar? The fact is, you still play it, in the vast majority of the songs, like a GH/RB guitar. However, it's more problematic, as the frets are not very responsive to touch (unlike, e.g., the fret buttons on a GH guitar). It really busts your fingers, but you get no real reward from it.

The drums are a joke. It took me almost an hour to realize that I needed to put batteries into the drum sticks themselves (2 AA each, no less). The problem? You have to unscrew the back of the stick! Who thought of such a stupid idea? Moreover, when you put the batteries in, you can't put the back of the stick in place again it won't fit without a major struggle.

The gameplay with the drums consists of you swinging them over sensors (DON'T HIT THE PADS!, or so they say). Whose bright idea was this? You know what's fun when you play drums? Hitting the drum. You play air drums when...you don't have a drum to hit. Otherwise, you smack a desk, the wall, etc. Why in the sam hell would I want to just swing at air? Come on for a game that had a major campaign touting its realism (for a laugh, go and read some of the hilarious interviews with celebrity chumps that backed this game), this is just a joke.

Like I said, I find that the sensors work TOO well. Often, I will register two swings when I've only swung once. Occasionally, the note will drop as well, although most of this time, this was my fault. But it makes the drums almost unplayable. I would advise using the plastic guitar for GH for this game. I've even heard that the drums work as well, although the color coding will mess you up. The microphone seems to work fine.

-GAME AESTHETIC

The game looks and feels ugly. The graphics are just horrible. The deformed characters (there are only six total, and you can only choose from two on each instrument) look ridiculous. The story (involving some evil guy called Headliner who took all the mojo away from a world I kid thee not) is almost corny enough to be funny, except for the strange voiceover you'll hear 1000x as you play: "Headliner: I call him Captain Braindead!". Every time you load up, you'll hear this. It's not funny or clever, and after 3 times, you already want to turn the volume down.

For some reason, the single player modes are shoved to one side of the screen. The drums are on the left. The guitar is on the right. I can understand this for 3-player mode, but why no use the full screen for SP?

The structure of the game even manages to be confusing and awkward. You are supposed to choose certain songs based on a symbol next to them. The symbol changes over time, and as there are 4 symbols (and more are added later), this ensures that you are constantly searching for these silly rune-like marks. Was it really necessary? Is there any reason not to have standard gigs with set songs, or at the very least, gigs where you choose to play what you want from a given list?

The overall single player mode can be finished in a night if you exploit these symbols correctly (a long night it's about 60 songs or so).

-GAMEPLAY

What a mess. The game attempts to distinguish between two types of note hit. If you hit a note in perfect time (a "perfect" hit), you get a lot of points, and if you hit a note slightly off (a "good" hit), you get less points. In order to build your multiplier, you must hit consecutive "perfect" notes. Taken by itself, this isn't the worst idea ever. The problem is that it requires a herculean effort to calibrate your system. Even when you do, sometimes the game just...skips. A note will discretely move from above the strike zone to below it, because the game gets hung up. If this happens, it doesn't matter if you hit the note properly you always miss it. This is a fatal flaw in such a system.

Like I said, the drums are notorious for adding/dropping strikes. I find them nearly unplayable.

The microphone works pretty well, although I have never been able to calibrate it perfectly. I always find that I have to start a note a little early in order to get a perfect setting, which creates a strange echo between the TV and me (you will hear your voice prominently on the television.

-TROPHIES

They are a joke. While some of them require multiple players, none of them require even one iota of skill. Every trophy except for one can be obtained on the lowest difficulty. This is probably good, since hard trophies would be brutal, given the limitations of gameplay.

FINAL REVIEW:

I can't recommend this game to anyone. I gave it two stars in the fun category because I am a sucker for music games, but this game is really bad. I might say it's good for little kids, but the guitar is pretty heavy, and the drums will be broken in a week (kids like hitting drums, too). Some of the songs are catchy, but overall, the music selection is lackluster (you may know some of the bands, but you'll know few of the songs). The Black Sabbath song, in particular, is laughably bad. The lousy guitar might make it worthwhile (you can probably plug it into Rocksmith, although I don't know), but even for forth bucks, you'll be straining to believe you got your money's worth.

Game was terrible! But I mainly bought it for the horrible guitar, just cause it works for guitar hero and rock band and I wasn't going to pay 100 dollars for a guitar controller... And since I've been playing guitar for a few years now I will even review the guitar, guitar is really cheap, the mute untunes it so if you plan on using it with a amp that is a problem... And the frets on this are absolutely horrid I've seen better quality feet on toys! And the air strike drumset has tons of issues... 4 stars just cause the great service, I knew the game was garbage, that's why it's less then 1/4 of its price when it was released, not a bad price for something if you want a couple hours of entertainment but don't expect it to last long

This game has taken the PS3 to the next level and shows what this system is capable of with the right innovators with great attention to detail. Graphics are beautiful, making you feel like your right there experiencing it hands on. Storyline is astonishing with amazing history and historical missions. Gameplay is spot on letting the user be a youngster or a retired war veteran picking up a controller and going to town. Wireless Controller is easily handible but for a real experience plugging in a Flight Stick puts you right in the cockpit with an option menu allowing for over 10 compatible joysticks. I am currently using a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick sold online for $50 that is perfect and smooth but I'm sure most compatible flight sticks will be just as good. The Online gameplay is ridiculous where you can join quick 4 player missions, head to head, 16 player battles and many others including dynamic missions where you can work on completing missions with partner online. The fact that you have 100 authentic planes makes this game just even more jaw dropping with obviously some planes being more ideal than others. During dogfights there are times when you may clip your wing with another plane and next thing you are spinning down and crashing into a building that explodes upon impact... So Real! The Replay is breathtaking being able to change to what seems a limitless amount of views and feeling like your watching a movie. This game does not disappoint for one second. The amount of work that was put into a game that has a lesser fan base is just insane. I give the developers mad props and know even thought it may have been released under the radar it will soon pick up popularity through word of mouth. So if hanging on the fence on purchasing this one do yourself a favor and purchase it, you won't look back even if like myself and not your normal genre you will find this disc always being left inside your PS3 when powered on.

I`ve never been to Wake Island. I think, before playing this game, that I didn`t even know that it is located in the pacific and it is so small that maybe 1000 people couldn`t live in it.

But now I know all of this (is that really something?) and, if the images of Wake Island depicted in this game are true, I wish I could visit this tiny piece of land.

The sea around Wake Island looks so beautiful with its blue/green colors and reflections all over its surface that I dare anyone tell me what other game has better images of the sea than Birds of Steel.

Nor only does it depicts all the pacific islands very vividly during the WWII, but it also drops your jaw to the floor and leaves you yearning for more.

This game is that beautiful.

After completing the second level of the Wake Island missions, I got happy just to know there wasn`t anything else to do and that I could just fly all over the place and watch, mesmerized, all the details put into the game`s visuals, before landing my aircraft.

I`m not kidding: when I bought it, I wasn`t expecting it to be better than IL 2 Sturmovik, a game that I love. But it is. It runs on a 720p resolution. It does not have the 1080p resolution option, but, baby, it runs butter smooth. Dozens of planes all around the sky, lots of explosions and things happening? No problem, it runs smooth, framerate is there, steady as ever, steadier than Sturmovik.

I don`t want to extend myself too much, nor is my intention to comment every aspect of this experience. I just wanted to drop by and pay a visit for all you guys that are thinking about buying this game: you won`t be disappointed, there are many, many modes like having the possibility of changing History and editing missions the way you want them to be played (climate, enemies numbers and experience in combat, war scenarios, day time, plane types, altitude where the fights will happen, etc) 100+ planes that you can customize, the possibility of editing every button of your controller the way you wish is there too... It plays like Sturmovik, which is a real plus, and the framerate this time does not drop... oh, well... I`m going back to playing it, I`m just taking a brake.

If you liked Sturmovik, don`t miss this one. If you are only interested in flying games, buy it too. You won`t regret it.

First let me say that I don't like spending $60 on a game that you beat in a few hours and there is no replay value at all. I like to feel i am getting my money's worth in a game, which is why i usually buy used. After playing the demo, I decided to check this game out and was shocked to learn it was only $40! I'm not a huge expert on the flying genre, but I do enjoy a good ACCURATE flying sim. First and foremost is the graphics in this game, speaking about the planes and the water. i don't remember seeing the ocean recreated in a game like it is in this game. The planes look so amazing and accurate in details. After an intense air battle, it is cool to spin the camera around your plane to see the actual bullet holes and gapping holes ripped into the sides. (Battles are INTENSE!) Sometimes the battle is over and on your way back to the carrier, engine damage will cause your plane to finally die out and you fight to stay airborne to reach the carrier. The missions make you feel like you are right there, really in the thick of these intense air battles. Your mission might be to bomb a carrier and in route I find myself switching to rear gunner to knock the bandits of my tail, then get back to the mission at hand, only to get more and more bandits tailing me. Meanwhile ships are firing anti-air fire at you. Love the intensity of the battles and makes you feel outnumbered just as the actual historical battles were. Then, you can watch a replay of your entire battle and even save it to view later. You really get so much for your money in this game. There are a ton of missions in the historical campaign, then you can switch to dynamic campaign which gives you the chance to play out the battles your way and change history. Each battle will reflect on the next and so on. Then there is a mission editor to create your own scenarios. You really get your money's worth out of this game. If you have any interest in flying combat sims or WWII or just a solid fun game that is a STEAL at $40, you gotta check this one out.

Birds of Steel is a very worthy sucessor of the best WWII aircraft simulator / arcade game for the PS3, IL-2 Sturmovik (2001, ported to the PS3 in 2009). The graphics are improved. The lighting effects are superior. And the multiplayer modes have been greatly expanded. The sound effects have also been improved, with added outside noise (plane panels, wind, etc) adding to the realism. While some may find the gameplay to be repetitive, the missions are not, with a wide variety of scenarios in both the Mediterranean and Pacific campaigns, that are challenging in any mode. Actually, if you played IL-2 before, you will love this game. When you approach an enemy destroyer, and AA shells are exploding all around you in Dolby stereo, without any loss in the frame rate, you will be completely hooked. You might even play this title for years. It's that good.

Like IL-2, this is not just an arcade game. It has a forgiving simplified flying mode, but also a realistic mode that elevates the experience to flight simulator status. You can even customize aspects of the simulation to create your own custom realism level, and use those settings in hosting an online battle.

This title goes far beyond Il-2 Sturmovik in terms of the number of aircraft available. This game has trainers, fighters, fighter bombers, and bombers representing five nations (USSR, USA, UK, Japan, and Germany, plus a bonus sixth nation, Australia). You unlock the planes mainly by playing online. I don't consider myself to be a fan of online gaming, because the mini games and action there is usually repetitive. But in Birds of Steel there are cooperative modes that are excellent, AI aircraft that seem fairly smart and challenging, as well as fleet battles in which getting through enemy defenses and bombing ships can earn you big points and level-ups. There's also an unlockable tournament mode and bi-weekly online challenges (think of the weekly challenges in FIFA 12), which so far, very few players seem to use.

You can gain credits and seniority quickly in online play, which allows you to buy exciting new planes. It might take gamers just 10 hours or so of online play to earn a B-17 or P-38 (one of the highlights in this game). The bombers can be personalized with decals such as insignia, slogans, and pin up girls, which is a really nice touch.

Birds of Steel lives up to the standard set by its predecessor and I think it is off to a strong start as one of the best Blu Ray PS3 titles of 2012. If you are looking for an engrossing, realistic, WWII flight simulator, this is a "must" for your collection.

I really wasn't impressed with the demo of Birds of Steel, but I watched a lot of gameplay videos and decided to go ahead and buy it. It was a risk, for sure, but it completely paid off. The demo, as often is the case, highlights the game's weaker points boring tutorials, painfully slow storytelling, and very little in the way of a manual.

The game's strengths are in the untethered gameplay and the visuals and atmosphere. The score is also awesome, but short. The studio struck a beautiful balance in difficulty settings; Simplified, Simulator, and Realistic are each progressively more real and less forgiving. One completely undocumented feature of this game is the ability to save a replay of a match, watch it back, and screencap scenes. I have a beautiful pic of my STUKA barely pulling out of a dive, its wheels bumping an enemy tank's turret.

Online play is where its at. 8 on 8 dogfights are intense, especially the Battlefront Domination game mode where bombers can win the round by destroying the enemy airfield. This turns into a more strategic game than head-to-head a team can field a pair of dive bombers or one heavy bomber, if it wants to win quickly, but a balance must be struck between defending home and escorting the bombers into enemy territory. Its hairy. Often times, your team will either be clueless or simply not care but this is a complaint with all online games.

Overall, I have twenty hours in the game, and I'm ranked in the Top 500s. I definitely recommend this either as an arcade shooter or a true to life sim, it works great as both.

I had mixed feelings about this game before its release, but after doing some research I realised that this game is different from the previous Transformers games based on the movie...which is a good thing. Fans of Gears of War will really love this game. For hardcore shooter fans, some things may or may not disappoint you. Fans of the animated series will fall in love! It plays out a lot like a CG cartoon...sound quality is very good with the voiceovers being very good drawing you in even more. The graphics look like someone took Gears of War and replaced the COG and the Horde with the Autobots and Decepticons. I know, I know, the Unreal Engine has been done a million times, it does WFC a lot of good though. Although I mentioned Gears of War, keep in mind that there is no duck and cover system. At first, this sort of disappointed me in a way, but after playing it, I realized.....robots don't need cover!!! The game controls like a charm, but takes some getting used to as well. Another thing is, unfortunately sometimes (depending on how you have your controller layout) you will accidently transform when you didn't intend to do so. This can be a problem...especially when trying to navigate platforming sections. Transforming in mid-air not only looks cool, but it also can be used for strategy purposes as well. It is highly recommended that you play the Decepticons campaign first. You can however choose to play the Autobots campaign first if you like. I have not played the multiplayer yet nor have I tried the 3 player co-op so I will not comment on the MP aspect of the game in this review. This game is very fast paced with a ton of action in it so far. Again, if you are a fan of Transformers, this is the game to have..I am not sure how long the single player campaign is, but it seems to be pretty long. Most may want to wait till the price drops, but if you are really thinking of getting the game, do yourself a favor and pick it up. This review is based on the PS3 version of the game. War For Cybertron. Well what can I say about this except, this game totally blew me away. I'm going to start with the Campaign Mode this offers two unique stories and levels. I like Decepticon side because, I like being the bad guy trying to takeover, or you can be the usual good guy (Autobots) trying to save everything. But you don't have to be good or bad on your own, you can team up with 2 friends online and be good or bad together and destroy some really cool bosses. It takes place on their home planet Cybertron (a stunning mechanical-futuristic place) of course and the best part about it you're no longer big bulky semi-trucks, camaros and normal earth vehicles Autos and Decepts are Cybertronian vehicles which are the same as earth's except they look way better, cooler, meaner and tougher. Now for the best part of the game Multi-Player, this offers a variety of modes Escalationconstant groups of robots attack until the players are defeated, Free-for-Allis every robot for himself, and my favorite Deathmatch-is just like with other shooters two teams go head-to-head to get the most kills. The others are Power Struggle, Code of Power, Countdown to Extinction and Conquest, I won't spoil these for you but I think you'll enjoy them. The character customizing is absolutely awesome, players must make their own Transformer based on the 4 classes, which determines their vehicle form Scout (car), Scientist (jet), Leader (truck), and Soldier (tank) each vehicle functions the same except Scientists can fly. Each allows you two weapons, two abilities, and three upgrades each class has their own set of kill streak rewards, available weapons, and abilities and last but not least you choose the color scheme of your robot. Now for my review GAMEPLAY 5stars controls are great, very engaging and fast paced not for casual gamers, STORYLINE 5stars finally we get the Autos and Decepts history, GRAPHICS 5stars it sounds and looks great, MULTIPLAYER 5stars. Transformers: War for Cybertron 5stars it's absolute genius.

I read tons of reviews on this game before I got it. It seemed that in general most people said that it's an okay game but it's not the best ever. They then list reasons that it wasn't good. I just would like to say this game is awesome! It's too bad that it has such terrible reviews from everyone. If you like the 3rd persons shooter game type then this is a game for you. The multi-player is cool. There has been a lot of complaining about the levels being all the same but obviously that is just people complaining. The ability to transform adds an awesome touch to the multi-player. I always hate in game when I re-spawn and then I have to walk for 30 seconds to find anyone else. Well in this one if you are far away you can just transform into a vehicle and go and find some people. If your in danger you can transform and quickly flee the area. It adds a spin on the gameplay that other game has. I would also like to mention that the melee combat on this game is awesome. For all of you shooter game fans out there you all know that the melee can sometimes be lame in the games. But Imagine being a freaking transformer and swinging a death hammer at somebody. Or spinning in circles with and ax. It is an awesome game overall. I am not sure why people don't like it. I don't think that they have actually played it.

One thing that I have to agree on that is a little bit negative is that you definitely find yourself with a huge lack of ammo. So you have to use your melee attack a ton but it's pretty sweet too. If you are interested in buying this game I would definitely recomend it. It's not the best game ever but this is a good game.

Being a Transformers fan for quite some time I was thrilled to find that not only was a PS3 game for Transformers coming out, but it wasn't based off of the perverted and dark franchise that Micheal Bay created to destroy our childrens hearts. After playing this game, I feel that not only has the series redeemed itself in my heart, but has brought G1 to a whole new level. Very good graphics and excellent story, this game is perfect for those looking to remember when transformers was still awesome but also those trying to start a new hobbie altogether. If transformers is your childhood dream, this game brings it to a whole new level.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

My only real complaints would be that the game is pretty linear overall (while there is some focus on tactical gameplay in specific areas of each stage, you're still following a 'Point A to Point B' path), and the transformations weren't incorporated enough to make them necessary (they still offer a lot to the experience, and look and feel fabulous when executed, but mostly you could play without much transforming). But these are very nitpicky things. The game itself is so undeniably good that you won't be bothered by either of these facts while playing.

I was warned that the controls were a bit tricky to get down, but could find no evidence of that here. The setup is very basic if you've played any shooter from the current generation. Mastering certain aspects, however (such as executing a thrust burst after your double jump), require a mild amount of practice. In this regard, the controls remind me of most 3D Mario games (the ONLY way these games are alike); the basics are immediately intuitive, but the more complex moves come with time and never cease to make you feel like a gaming badass when you get them down to an art.

This is one of the best third person shooters currently available on the PS3. The last two games I've taken on have been Batman: Arkham City and Killzone 3, and I'll happily admit that this game is still holding its own in a major way. Buy it today. Even if you're not a Transformers fan, this game will not disappoint.

Sorcery should have been one of the Move launch titles because not only does it take full advantage of both the Move and the Nav controllers but it does it in a fun, energetic and often imaginative way.

THE STORY

Sorcery is NOT an open world adventure. It's highly scripted and it follows the story of a fairy tale where you are the sorcerer's apprentice on a quest to, of course, rescue the charming princess who... but we're not supposed to reveal the plot, right? It's probably Okay to note that the story is a lot closer to a Brothers Grimm tale than Tolkien's.

I can reveal that you go through the story, page by page, chapter by chapter and, as you overcome increasingly difficult challenges, your sorcery skills grow. I've only covered the first 5 or 6 chapters so far and I'm looking forward to playing some more after I'm done spreading the word through this review :)

GAMEPLAY

Sure, there's a story and sure there's adventure and exciting combat but a lot in Sorcery is about showcasing the Move controller which is why I thought this should have been a launch title.

You would normally play standing up because there's a lot of wand waving, shaking and turning. You move in the world and initiate certain actions through the Nav controller and you cast spells, aim them and perform various other combat actions such as shield-bashing with the Move. It's hard to describe and it does involve learning new skills and it requires some coordination and good reflexes but you are learning things and tricks as you go and you have the opportunity to practice a lot on the weaker enemies before you fight the first really difficult boss.

From time to time you do die but you simply get back to where you were before the last battle started. It sounds like too easy but combat is hard and you may end-up dying 5 minutes into the battle so if you manage to die a couple of times in a boss battle it CAN be painful.

Like I said, the game is highly scripted and sometimes the dialogues that make sense the first time you engage into some specific melee don't the next time you face the exact same enemies how many times can you be 'surprised' that a certain enemy is immune to a certain spell and then here your wise companion suggesting that maybe you should try something else?

Oh, and there are several levels of difficulty. I'm surviving on the normal level but I can see how very challenging it would be to beat the game while playing in the hardest mode.

OVERALL QUALITY

The graphics are so-so, not exactly impressive with most of the enemies looking like Macy's parade floats but they fight... not too well or too smart but their relative ineptitude is more than made up by their numbers. Or this seems to be the case so far.

What makes the game fun is the original Move-based combat system. You get to use specific gestures to select your spell and specific moves to aim it including the equivalent of throwing curve balls. The Move-as-a-wand is also your key to opening doors, the stir when you make potions and the shield when you must deflect incoming missiles or bash back enemies that get too close. The Move interface is surprisingly good, precise and responsive.

THE FUN FACTOR AND MY RATING

Scripted as it is, the game has been very fun to play so far. My first 5-6 hours of playtime took me through several chapters. It's hard to tell how far from endgame I am now but I assume there must be at least a dozen hours or so left to play because there seems to be more powerful spells to learn, potions to make and tougher bosses left to defeat.

I'm giving the game 5 stars in the 'fun' category but I am not going to rate it as a 5-star overall, mainly because of the poor graphics quality and the overscripted and almost dumbed-down story line but this is not why most of as are going to play this game. As bad as the graphics are, the active waving of wands is immersive enough to make Sorcery a fun little game to play.

UPDATE: I'm downgrading this game on the fun factor after playing 95% of the game because there are a *number* of annoying problems with this game. At times, the frustration really makes you want to stop playing.

**Be advised that you cannot play this game without the PlayStation Move, it might not be the clearest in the description, but it's clearly labeled on the box. You can't even start the game without calibrating the Move controller. **

After forcing gamers to wait way too long for a game that was originally a launch title, Sorcery is finally here, and it was worth the wait. The 1:1 tracking of the Move controller showcases the motion controller gaming like it was demoed, and it's quite fun using the controller as your magic wand. There are times it can be oversensitive, and you might miss your targets, but you'll get used to it over time.

Move controls include swiping left and right to move objects, drawing circles to 'mend' broken objects, and flicking your wrist to cast spells accurately based on how high you aim and what direction (and many more). Potions that you can craft are activated by shaking the motion controller, and then tipping it upside down like you are drinking the potion. Twisting your wrist and flicking to the side can also curve your spells which is fun to do and satisfying when you hit enemies behind cover with your spells.

This is definitely not the greatest game ever made. The game world is incredibly linear, annoyingly so. Instead of an adventure game that allows exploration and back-tracking, this game *prevents* backtracking after you move onto the 'next area'. So far, I have not been able to return to areas previously missed, and with trophies for finding all of the treasures, this is screaming the word annoying the entire way home. Some places the game does not tell you which is the "main" path, and some times you will find chests like you hope and other times you will skip them completely because the game only lets you move forward. While there are treasures to be found and sold, you are always restricted to following the path the game wants you to go; invisible walls are EVERYWHERE.

The Move is very accurate at spellcasting. However, since the game has a feature which allows you to curve your spells by 'side-casting', I found myself twisting the Move wand in my hand. If the Move wand isn't held correctly in your hand, I found that Finn will not cast any spells no matter how hard I tried. The movements which are required to 'select' your spells are a bit awkward and hard to do correctly and consistently while being in tight combat situations. When it works it's great, but when it's not, eh, not so much.

Voice acting is pretty good, although you can tell that it is more centered towards younger crowds. You get tired of hearing "Oh, you showed that rock!" pretty quickly. This actually improved as the game went on, no problems with the voice acting in this game.

There are 3 levels of difficulty, Casual, Gamer, and Hardcore. I've heard that there is a 4th difficulty which can be unlocked by beating the game the first time. I'll be able to confirm this in the next few days.

The combat in this game is *surprisingly* unforgiving. There have been a number of times where I have been knocked down or frozen, only to be knocked down and/or frozen as soon as I get back on my feet. I'm playing the game on CASUAL difficulty and I have died a number of times in some pretty ridiculously overwhelming combat scenarios. If you're looking at this game for someone who has never played video games, you may want to warn them that it's not going to be a cakewalk.

One last gripe, the save system. This is just atrocious, and I'm really hoping that it's something they patch on a future date. The game gives you the opportunity to "save the game", but this just saves it at the waypoint you LAST found, and nothing after that. Keep this in mind when you meet the alchemist and mix 4 different potions and then you die in the next encounter. (I just encountered this at a boss fight; made 4 or 5 potions, and was creative about how I chose my potions, etc. Boss killed me, and I started before talking to the alchemist, no potions mixed, and all of my stats were reset. The thought of having to do this 20 times if that's how many tries it takes to kill the boss just is *incredibly* annoying. You've been warned.

I can't say that this game would force me to buy a PlayStation Move if I didn't already own one, but it has definitely solidified my purchase from years ago, and I don't regret owning this thing anymore. This is one game that you'll definitely want to play to show your friends how the Move works. Adding in the spell combinations that can be unlocked later in the game, this game is inventive in ways that most games could only dream of. The spell combinations are surprisingly satisfying, and you'll have fun slinging your Move wand around throwing the various spells at different enemies.

First, let me say that the Move controls are great! The game functions (for the most part) as advertised. I would definitely say the game is worth $20, but no more. It is way too short! I was not expecting Skyrim, but 6 hours is the most you can squeeze out of this game. I beat it on the next to highest difficulty, but there is absolutely no reason to go through it again, other than bragging rights (and let's be honest, who cares?). I had fun, but once it ended I felt completely ripped off! I have paid a lot less for downloadable games with more content!! As I said $20 is a decent price and it might be worth it, but $40 is way too high!

If you are looking for a title that uses both the Move and navigation controller, then this is the one for you. After playing this game you can fully realize the potential of the Move controller. I would say that this title is probably the best Move title that I have played to date.

GRAPHICS

The graphics won't be taking on a title like Crysis by any means but they are still pretty good. The art design of the game is interesting and the array of characters and enemies I have encountered are unique. Cutscene art is interesting and is done in a style that makes sense and works for this game.

VOICE ACTING

The voice acting isn't going to win a 'best of' award but it is pretty solid.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay is unique, providing an experience that can be addictive at times. The Move controller is used as a wand and the navigation controller is used to move your character around. The Move button is used with specific move control gestures to change spells, and it works seamlessly. This is the Harry Potter game people were looking for when Harry Potter was still relevant. Better late than never. There is also a potions mixing mini game so to speak. Your permanent ability increases are handled by researching and discovering new potions to increase your overall health, mana, etc. An interesting aspect to health potions is that you need to shake the bottles up with the Move controller and then tilt the controller to drink them. Drinking the health potion is done in real time, which adds some excitement if your health is aleady low because you can still take damage while trying to drink the potion. You can tell that the game developers put a lot of time into integrating as much Move motion controls into the game as possible. The good thing about it is, they did it without forcing it. Each move makes sense in the context of it's application in the game and the environment.

The fighting in the game is enjoyable and satisfying. Casting spells is fairly accurate although I have experienced the occasional errand cast. Enemies are designed such that certain elemental types affect them more than others. The developers made a deliberate effort to send enemies at you in groups that require you to switch spells often. For example, shield bearing enemies are impervious to all spells as long as they still have their shield. This requires you to cast an earth borrowing type of spell to hit them and make them drop their shield. The earth spell doesn't do much damage, so your are then forced to switch back to your Arcane Bolt in order to damage them. You can also combine a number of spells for increased damage. For example, you can lay down a wall of fire to keep enemies at bay and then cast a whirlwind, which combines with the fire making a fiery tornado. This tornado will suck enemies up into the funnel as they enter the tornado's path and do massive damage.

One draw back is related to character movement. I have had issues with movement where my character gets temporarily stuck when trying to move. It hasn't happened a lot, but when it does it can be annoying.

STORY

The story is about a young apprentice wizard that, due to circumstances as the story unfolds, is reponsible for protecting a princess. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it at hat. There is more to the story than I expected for a Move title. It's no Heavy Rain by any means in that department, but it also is no Super Mario Brothers either. The story is enough to keep you interested without affecting the action and pacing of the game.

There is an epicness that surrounds getting new spells that as the game progresses you get the real sense that you are becoming a more powerful wizard, even if physically you still look like a puny apprentice.

SOUND

The sound is pretty good in this game. There is an orchestral score that adds ambience that is not obtrusive and pleasant to hear without becoming repetitive.

SCORE/RATING

As far as Move games are concerned, I would give this title 5 stars. The game is shorter than I would like, but I think it demonstrates the Move better than any other title I have played to date.

As for racking it up against other titles across all control types, I would give it 4 to 4.5 stars. There are enough minor things that need improvement that I can't flat out give it a 5 star rating overall. If they gave it another 6 months of polish the game might have earned 5 stars because it definitely is 5 stars in terms of fun.

As a gamer I think the game is a buy.

SORCERY REVIEW

The game itself is very fun. The graphics are mediocre but the two main characters (one you control and the cat sidekick) have a really good story and voice acting. This surprised me in a very nice way. This is the first full game (not party games) I have ever played with motion controls that actually felt like the controls were a positive and not some side gimmick to sell extra controllers. The Move controller works well with the spells and it feels good plus there are some strategies. I would recommend the navigation controller for moving your character around. The camera can be slightly off at times but it's not a big concern.

My 7 year old son played most of the time (I played a little myself, especially in the hard parts) with me watching a lot. We've also had it on the lowest difficulty (apprentice) so he doesn't get frustrated and for the most part he rarely died. There are six different powers you accumulate throughout the game (like earth, wind, fire, ice, and lightning) and that keeps it fun and interesting. The game is a bit short as it took us around six hours to complete. I don't think it's fair to compare game length of a $40 game to a full $60 game though so I didn't have an issue with this. I would suggest playing on a harder difficulty so it takes a little longer but I have no clue how hard the game is on the higher difficulties (there are four settings).

The time you are playing is fun and the new powers the game introduces keeps the game from feeling repetitive. There are actually quite a few things to do with the six main powers you get through the game (secondary things with them too) plus a shield. The games powers and controls develop nicely so you are never confused as to how to do things. Some enemies can only be hurt by certain powers so you have to figure that out as you go. Some powers can be combined as well for some cool effects.

You can't jump up on things and the game is fairly linear and pushes you in the right direction which is a good thing for younger gamers. Some different potions you get also add some variety although this is an area where we have neglected to a degree. You have to collect a bunch of things and try mixing them together which provide powers and upgrades for your abilities. There are tons of slots for new potions and upgrades and I don't know if we got half of them. There is an alchemist who shows up occasionally that you can buy and sell stuff and I think we screwed that part up. Since we are on Apprentice it didn't hurt us too much. One thing that hurt us initially was not realizing you had to switch to the ingredients tab to test combinations for potions in order to be able to create them on the powers/upgrade tab.

There are a decent variety of enemies throughout the game with some cool boss battles, especially at the end. The motion controls are fun to use and don't feel like a gimmick. The story was really good and my son loved this game. I have to admit I enjoyed watching and playing quite a bit myself. Definitely a worthwhile purchase for the family.

Contacting Genius modes and will ship back to controller (my dime) so they can fix R2.

In the past I've taken several controllers apart and either fixed or modified them but that would break the warranty here.

Other than the R2 button the controller works very well although the metal sticks (imo) aren't as good as the regular sticks when it comes to precision and quick movements.Once I get this fixed I will change my review to 4 stars.

Mercenaries 2, since its release in 2008, has a bug that freezes the whole PS3 system. This bug is related to having to accept the online terms before gaining access to online play. The problem is that this option is built all the way under the option menu interface. --They never made it so the system would automatically show you the "terms and whatnot" screen, where you would either accept or reject the online terms-If you try to play online or start the game while being signed into the PSN, the game will try to connect to the EA servers, but you will leave you in a loop (as it is expecting for you to accept the online terms) but since you can't either accept or reject them, the system freezes. At this point, all you can do is completely shutdown the system.

The only way you can play Mercenaries 2 is offline.

So for a game that promises offline and online play (where some trophies are depending of online play) this is a big let down. specially since they never got around to patching this issue, 2008-2011.

Final thoughts.

Uncharted: DF and Tomb Raider: Underworld alone are worth the tag price, thus leaving Mercenaries 2 as one of those "here you go" gifts. Kind of like that calculator your grandma got from buying those leg warmers.

While the games (Tomb Raider: Underworld, Mercenaries 2, and Uncharted 1) each cost about 20$ a pop now, you can snag all three of them here for 30 bucks. Great deal. The games are awesome and showcase the cool stuff the PS3 has to offer. I won't review each of the games, but you can check out their review pages for more information. I'm a Tombraider fun and I found this offer a great value as I got two other very good games for a great price.

Tombraider Underworld (overall 4/5)

I played Tombraider Undeworld till its end in the Playstation 2 and it was a great surprise to see the same game improved in the PS3 platform. The sonar maps are very helpfull and graphics are amazing 5/5 !!. I've also found new developments in many levels with different options, weapons and enemies.

Unchartered (4/5)

I've never played this game and it is awesome. If you are a Tombraider saga fun you will love this game.

Graphics are stunning and story is quite entertaining and very weel developed. Difficulty is hard enough to keep you busy and engaged but not too much to get frustrated redoing missions.

Mercenaries 2 (4/5)

To be honest I have no clue about how this game was before buying it and I just got it to take advantage of the offer. At the end it resulted in a very good desition as action and enternainment are perfect. Do not expect a deep storyline, game was developed just for your fun on blowing up things

I think we would all like another installment in the single player Ratchet and Clank franchise; However I am not going to bash insomniac games for trying something new. This product is as advertised, a 4-player co-op plat-former. Anyone who has taken the time to read or watch an advertisement for this game should have known that it wouldn't be like the rest of the RaC games. Overall it isn't a bad game, but still I have some nitpicking to do.

First off, because it is a 4-player game you do not have control over the camera. This gives the feeling that the game isn't as detailed as its single player predecessors. Still there are some beautiful levels that give the ratchet and clank feeling. Another thing that bugs me are the circles that float bellow the characters. It makes me feel like I am playing Marvel Ultimate Allience or something.

Now, I can't speak for everyone but RaC is sort of a guilty pleasure type of game because I am an adult. That is one of the things I like about the series is that, it is an 'e' rated game that can actually be enjoyed by EVERYONE. Still in this game the characters tend to say cheesy one-liners such as, "that was good teamwork buddy!" This makes you stop and realize that you are playing a children's game. The multi-player mode itself seems like a gimmick for little kids. I don't see myself telling my friends "man, drop that Madden 2012 bulls!@t so we can throw down on some ratchet and clank!" But if you do have children than this would be a major plus, as the multi-player mode is actually pretty fun.

Overall the game is pretty fun. I think the nostalgia for the series will be both the saving grace and downfall for this game. People who are big fans of the series will enjoy a change of pace from the conventional RaC titles, but those who want more of the same will despise this game. Its definitely worth playing as long as you are open minded to something new.

I love the Ratchet and Clank series. I jumped from PS2 to PS3, knowing some changes would occur. Some changes were better than others, but I still enjoyed the first two games for PS3. Then along came All 4 One. I am about 3/4 through the game at the moment and I can honestly say;

I HATE THIS GAME.

I'm going to finish it out of some vain hope that it will somehow redeem itself and restore my faith in a brand I've been loyal to up until this point. But let's face itI've got 25% of the game to gothey botched this one big time.

I suppose my first hint should have been lack of camera controls (it's all wide-screen... and down-hill... Seriously, I spent half my time falling off some random edge because everything's so damn tiny) and that enjoying the game's graphics seems only truly achievable if you own an 80" flat-screen (I have an old 24" screen sorry I'm not rich Insomniac). Then there was the lack of strafe and the way the basic firing controls had been altered... (aaaand we're swiching to bullet points here)

-Then there's the A.I. (which you HAVE to play alongside if in single player mode)infuriatingly lacking in the "I" part of that abbreviation as well as glitchy as hell... all in ways that will very likely get you killed or force you to take actions you are not ready/wanting to yet because it "knows what to do next" and drags you along for the merry bloody ride.

-Half the weapons are useless and glitchy (don't bother with short-ranged weapons9 out of 10 times they are ineffective will get you killed. But longer range will randomly switch targets or suddenly become out of range of the target... also effectively getting you killed.)

-Battles seem to be mapped out less on challenge and skill and more on how much ammo they can force you to waste. In fact they're generally a giant blur of light where I can't tell where I am or what I'm doing.

-And if you get hit... well game over, because you'll get stunned, and then get hit again while you're trying to get up. I mean seriously WHAT is the bloody point of that?!?

-The characters in play keep repeating the same 5 or 6 lines over and over endlessly (I actually had to stop playing as Clank because if I heard him say "Don't worry little creature, we will not harm you," one more time I was going to punch the screen.)

-The oddball comedy is all but gone.

-Arenas: gone.

-Space battles: gone.

-Bosses... they all started to look the same after a while. Not very creative.

-The ability to upgrade weapons on multiple tiersgone. Instead replaced by a "buy upgrades" feature of which there are 3 per weapon... and not very impressive I must say.

-The "treasure hunt" portion (bolts, schematics, etc) of the game is nonexistentagain replaced by some lame "pet collector" thing which LEADS NOWHERE. Yay, I sucked a giant hamster into my vacuum... and I get bolts for it... whup di-do...

-And Puzzles? Ha! I'm going back to the Sunday crossword... more challenging, more interesting and vastly less insipid.

Near as I can tell the designers tried to change too much and lost a lot (ok, most) of what made the games great (to me at least.) Hope the next one is better or I'm seriously going to have to find a new franchise.

Gone are the engaging and visually complex worlds, each with their many layers of game play and hidden gems all waiting for you to explore as you desire. Gone are the vast arrays of creative weapons and the ability to play your character as you see fit. Gone are the mini games space fights, races, flights, arena battles, etc. Gone are the controls we've all come accustomed to. Gone pretty much sums it up. Instead, the game looks and feels cheap, hollow, gutted of its original depth and intent, akin to one you might download all this stripping seeming to make room for trendy 3D visuals and internet multiplayer game play. If hooking up with 3 other friends to control the tiniest of characters along a shallow linear path, spending most of your time mindlessly breaking boxes, sucking up animals, and briefly shooting at easy-to-kill enemies is your desire, then here ya go. But if you were hoping to settle in to a long weekend with the latest immersive R&C, I guess we'll just have to keep waiting. I personally haven't been this disappointed with a R&C release since Deadlocked, and that includes all the PSP releases as well.

Ratchet & Clank: you know them, you love them. They've been around for ten games now and the formula has not changed much over the years. All 4 One is Insomniac's response to fans asking for something new and exciting for our Lombastic hero and his shiny compadre, and let me tell you...it works like a charm.

All 4 One is an absolute blast whether you play it offline by yourself, on the couch with some friends, or online with others. You can select Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark or Dr. Nefarious even when playing single player. Every character plays pretty much the same but they all have a different special weapon. Ratchet has The Dopplebanger, Clank has the Zoni Blaster which slows enemies, Qwark has a shield called the Quantum Deflector and Nefarious has a cloaking device called...the Cloaker. When playing single player, Clank is your partner unless you select Clank as your character. When you select Clank, Qwark is your partner character...and he somehow jams himself onto Clank's back. It's quite amusing.

As always you have a multitude of whacky weapons at your disposal. GrummelNet once again serves as the vendor but they are now represented by some metallic friends from Tools of Destruction. That's right, Cronk and Zephyr make their triumphant return to the series. I won't spoil any of the story for you but I can assure you that the dialogue is as humorous as ever and the cutscenes are very well done. Speaking of cutscenes, they are not skippable. This would not be a problem if it only happened the first time but you have incentive to replay pretty much every level. Having to sit through the cutscenes every time will no doubt be irritating for some. I'm sure that Insomniac will address this at a later date. Graphically speaking, this is one beautiful game. So many modern games are dark: full of greys, browns and reds. It's refreshing when something as colorful as Ratchet & Clank comes along; some of the landscapes are truly breathtaking.

Ratchet & Clank All 4 One features a more linear level structure than the other games in the series, but don't worry, veterans will still feel right at home. The fixed camera and straight-forward progression makes sense for a game where co-op is a focus, it works. While the camera is fixed, there are still plenty of hidden areas to find and alternate routes to take. Gold bolts have been replaced with Hero bolts, these are used to unlock alternate character skins and they also give you more incentive to explore and replay levels. This brings me to an interesting bit: Each character's progression is tracked separately. Your bolts, weapons, Hero bolts and records are separate for each of the four characters. When playing with a friend you get bonuses for things like collecting the most bolts or getting the most kills; this adds a bit of competitive flair to the co-op and I think it's great. One of the more prominent mechanics of the game is that you can tether yourself to your partner, which is essential for crossing gaps or saving yourself from a fall. It's basically a cooperative Swingshot. If you die and your partner is still around you can be revived by them. If they don't save you it's ok, you will respawn after a few seconds. If everyone goes down, back to the last checkpoint you go.

One of the biggest concerns out there for this game is whether it is still fun as a single player experience. Worry not, Constant Gamer, playing this game by your onesies is just as magnificent as it is playing with three friends. The difficulty scales based on how many characters you are playing with, which makes cooperation all the more important. I find it more manageable to play on your own. I played online with 4 players for two levels and it was chaotic but fun; if you are playing with people you know that are using headsets I am sure it's just fine. On the subject of playing online, All 4 One does feature an online pass so you will need to buy this new if you want to play online. As with many PS3 games there is a mandatory install, there was also a tiny day-one patch, everything added up to 2,484 MB and it took about 8 minutes.

There you have it, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is another great entry in the series, albeit different. I really don't have any legitimate complaints. There are still plenty of things to collect and skill points to acquire. Grab your wrenches and get to it!

Edited to add: I completely forgot to mention that this game has a reversible cover. It still features the PS3 logo but it's positively hilarious. Buy it to find out...or just look it up online.

Want Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One Discount?

Sadly, it's over. It's all over. The beloved Ratchet and Clank series is in its death throes. What was once a charming and inventive platformer has now become a mind-numbing and creativity-crippled generic corridor shooter. It was bound to happen though, right? Gamers are drowning in a sea of console shooters these days, from Call of Duty and Killzone to Gears of War and Halo, so is it really so surprising that even games that started out as platformers are becoming more like current shooters?

Gone is the feeling of exploration that dominated the previous R&C games. You no longer have planets and moons to discover and pilfer as you see fit, as the game progression is startlingly linear. There's no exploration allowed within each level either, as you're funneled from one corridor or floating rock to the next and to the next and to the next. You won't be searching high and low for gold bolts, as they're pretty much sitting out in the open right in front of you. Skill points tell you exactly what to do to unlock them so you don't have to worry about taxing your brain.

The weapons just don't have the same level of ingenuity or excitement as in previous R&C games. A lot of the weapons are similar or identical to weapons from previous games, and those that aren't just don't seem to belong. In any case, the utility of many of the weapons doesn't really exist. You can run through the entire game using the standard cannon, the rocket launcher, Mr. Zurkon, and maybe one more weapon without resorting to using any of the others. (Sidenote: This game gets 2 stars instead of 1 solely on account of Mr. Zurkon, who is still incredibly awesome). Still, the gunplay (once a staple of R&C) is not addictive or exciting in this outing.

Controls are also odd. Since the game is meant to be played with multiple people, no one has control over the camera angle except the computer. If you're keenly used to using the right analog stick to control the camera as in previous R&C games, then you'll find yourself irritatingly changing weapons by accident, which is now managed by moving the R stick. It's something that people can get used to, I guess, but I never did, and it was like a sharp pebble in my boxers throughout the entire game.

The gameplay basically revolves around running from one battle to the next, shooting up waves after waves of enemies, running through the reload ammo checkpoint, and doing it all over again. By the time you hit the halfway point of the game, you will notice that each battle has become eerily reminiscent of one you already fought. It'll start out with about 8 rotating laser drones, then 2-3 standing/bomb drones show up, then like 8 boxing drones, then a flying gravity drone, etc. The enemy variety just isn't there, and it becomes painfully obvious early on and throughout the game. The last two levels in particular are a tedious exercise in the limits of human patience as you're literally fighting the same five waves over and over again as you move toward the final endpoint. Wait until you fight the final boss. It. just. never. seems. to. end.

If you're not planning on playing this game with human teammates, then just go ahead and take this advice: Don't play this game. Playing by yourself pairs you up with a near-retarded AI teammate who brings to the combat table the uncanny ability to read your mind and do exactly what you hope he doesn't do. Clank, I need you to activate that switch once I open this panel. Well, Clank was planning on opening the panel instead of activating the switch and now he's all confused and is stuck moving back and forth like a moving paper target. Clank, I need you to shoot this boss with me so we can create a more damaging attack. Too bad, Clank is inexplicably bolting to the edge of the floating platform and leaping to his death over and over again. Time to reload the checkpoint. Again *sigh*. These problems are obviously avoided by playing with a human friend (unless your friend is near-retarded too), but if a game is not adjusted appropriately by a development studio to be played as a single player game, then the option shouldn't be available. It just makes the project look messy.

When playing the game in coop form, hopefully with humans, the main draw (and purpose) of this game is to make everyone work together to beat levels. This always sounds great on paper as with most coop games, but the vast majority of developers cannot for the life of them figure out how to implement co-op tactics well (and Insomniac is no exception). Well, here's the dirty secret: levels should be designed so that they are essentially unbeatable unless the coop-ers work together and each fill a separate and mandatory responsibility, ideally one that is not glaringly obvious or limited to one sole strategy. This rarely happens in practice, unfortunately. What usually suffices for the co-op experience is one of the following watered-down events:

1. You cannot exit a level unless both players press X at the door, and a cutscene follows of one player holding the door open for the other player to walk through. Thanks, bro.

2. Both players are funneled toward a deadend that requires each player to hit x so that one gives the other a helpful boost to the ledge. That player then hits X so he can help the other player up. Thanks, bro.

3. One player activates and holds a switch so the other player can walk through the newly opened door and activate and hold an identical switch on the other side, allowing the first player to walk through or activate another, previously blocked switch. Thanks, bro.

4. You and a friend basically empty round after round of your ammunition into seemingly endless hordes of enemies until they're all dead, with no real focus or strategy. Keep shooting, bro.

#3 and #4 make up 95% of R&C All4One.

Hooray for co-op!!!

Ok, I'm done. This game sucks in general and sucks even more for dragging an otherwise great series into the dark, fecaline depths of generic gaming. We don't need another mindless corridor shooter and certainly don't need a once-non-mindless-corridor shooter turning into one.

Let's all hope Insomniac returns to form with the next game.
