In case this review is lumped with other PS3s. This is for the "Sony PS3 White 500GB Bundle".

What do you get in this package?

Well, an amazing 'super slim' revision of the PS3 console. It is much smaller than the original 'fat' model, or even the first 'slim' revision. I've read some negative reviews of the super slim, but I personally think it's a great console. It feels very sturdy, as does the top loading disc tray. In case your game disc gets stuck in the system, it will be easier to remove it.

The crystal white PS3 looks really nice, and it's about time that fans had something other than the standard black to choose from!

This is harder to find than the black or even the red super slim, so you might have to do some shopping around to find it.

PS. Besides the console, you get a year's subscription to PS Plus. Yessssssssssssssss. :D

Since I recently bought the PS3 Move peripherals, I decided to finally look into buying a controller charging dock.

This particular dock suits my needs for the following reasons:

I have two Sixaxis contollers, two motion controllers, and one navigation controller (not planning on buying a second navigation controller anytime soon)

I can keep my second motion controller plugged into one rear USB port, and my Bluetooth earpiece plugged into the other rear USB port.

I can now use the PS3's two USB ports for the PS Eye and an external USB hard drive, and no longer have to plug/unplug USB cables to recharge various controllers or the earpiece.

Some of the minor problems I've encountered:

There's a blue LED light on one of the long sides of the charging dock that is angled around 45* out... and can be a bit annoying depending on where you're sitting in relation to it.

The Sixaxis controllers may take a moment or two of fumbling with before you line it up properly on the charger.

And just so everyone knows, it is true that you can't place a motion control where the navigation control is supposed to go.

I usually don't write reviews, but this time I strongly believe it deserve a strong review. I purchased the Quad Dock Pro from Amazon via DreamGear about 3 weeks ago. The first 2 weeks perfectly fine and charging. last week my controllers were dead for no reasons. I realized quickly that the unit was not charging. I did plug my controllers via USB to my PS3 to make sure it was not the controllers and it was fine and charging. The main light around the unit still works but the lights around the move controllers and the DualShock are not anymore. I called the company "got disconnected". I emailed them "No response". So I don't have much choices here. I will try a few time more to contact them. After a few days , customer service replied and sent a replacement for no charge. The replacement unit was perfectly fine, it has been a year now without problem.

This product works OK, but I have two complaints:

1) They should have designed it to allow more flexibility in what is plugged into each slot. The only options available as it is are exactly what you see in the picture. So those of us with two of the PS3 Move Controllers who don't want a Navigation controller have 3 slots filled and an extra empty slot we can't use while the 2nd Controller stands by waiting for its turn to get charged.

2) The slot for the Controller is not very easy to align, so you have to fumble around with it till it fits in finally. I've had 3 different people using it make the same comment, so I'm comforted somewhat that it's not just my lack of coordination.

Otherwise, it works for what it's made for so if you can get a good price for it, then it's worth having around for some extra charging options.

I need a dock that can charge two Dual Shock controllers and two motion controllers. Unfortunately, this does two Dual Shocks, one motion controller, and one navigation controller. There doesn't seem to be anything out there that can, so I bought this one. (I mean, how hard is it to make two ports for the motion controllers and detachable adapter for a snug fit when you want to do the nav controller?)

The good news is, it has 2 USB ports in the back so that's where my 2nd motion controller goes. It takes a little jiggling to get the Dual Shocks in, but the motion controller slips right in to place. The LED displays are very obvious and bright. ** I suggest that you do not keep the unit plugged in UNLESS you are charging. It is an energy "vampire". ** The manual also suggests that once your controller is charged to take it off charge. Roger that!

Overall, this will do and is much better than having to turn the PS3 on JUST to charge controllers for next time a friend and I want to play.

Edit: Ha, I just read another reviewer talking about this being a "vampire". It's true....an on/off switch would have been nice.

I should have gotten this sooner, it is a lot easier than constantly switching out which device is charging from the USB ports of the PS3, and now I don't have to leave the PS3 on when I'm not using it just to keep things charged.

When it is plugged in it has a very bright blue light glowing around the base of the device, I think it looks really cool, but it is very bright. When you plug in the controllers, the area around them glows red until they are done charging, then it switches to blue so that you know they are done. I was surprised by how fast they charged the controllers, even when they had zero power left.

I think the controllers fit in easily despite what others said, and it is nice and stable even when the controllers are in the base.

I would only change 2 things. Like many others I would prefer to have it charge 2 dual shocks and 2 moves, rather than a move and a navigation. Since it has the 2 USB ports in the back I just charge one of the move controllers from that, but I still wish it did the 2 moves because it would be a nice neat way to keep all the controllers in one place. I also wish it had an off switch for when it is done charging, I just unplug it, but an off switch would have been nice.

Since some people have had problems with this device lasting, I'll update this if I have any issues with it.

Update: 4/4/12 I said I would update if I had any issues, but I thought it would be nice to let you know that the device is still working perfectly.

I've played this game for about a week now I would say ten full games or so. There are some improvements that people have talked about in other reviews presentation is better (but still not great), gameplay seems slightly better in some ways, franchise mode has some nice touches to it.

I think the best way to describe playing this game is still "frustrating". That's unfortunately how I have felt playing Madden (and this year NCAA 12) for the past few years. Suction blocking (although supposedly gone) is still very much in the game. All you have to do to see this is shift your D-line far right or far left and then change their rush direction in the same way. On the snap, you will see your d-linemen literally run sideways across the line until they match up with the predetermined blocker that they are supposed to be blocked by (according to the AI). this is frustrating. Running overload blitzes rarely work because of this, but it is frustrating when they work just fine for the CPU and a free blitzer comes at you in one second or less. I was hoping for much more in this regard.

There are still tons of drops by defensive backs on both sides. Any time it rains, you can count on receivers slipping five to six times per game, even if the game is on turf. Several pass plays during a game will either hit a receiver with no reaction or go right past them without them reacting. CPU QBs take off running way too easily. I played a game where the fleet of foot Joe Flacco ran for 117 yards against me on seven carries.

Defensive backs love to make over the shoulder interceptions and know how to turn their heads for the ball just as it is about to arrive at the receiver (amazingly). Super LBs seem to be toned down a bit I really haven't seen too many examples of this where I wanted to throw my controller at the TV like I did with NCAA 12.

Play action passing is STILL very hit and miss. I would say half of the time calling play action results in an automatic sack. This has been a common complaint of past Maddens and it doesn't look like this one has changed much in this regard.

There seem to be about two to three fumbles per game for each team which IMO is too high. Interceptions are toned down a bit but again the over the shoulder ones by DBs that are beaten deep and magically catch up are frustrating.

The presentation improvements are kind of cool the first time you see them but after that, you'll just end up skipping them anyway. They're not even really that good. For instance, playing as the Steelers, the last two players introduced were Mike Wallace and Ben Roethlisberger. All the game says when these two are introduced are "here's your starting wide receiver" and "here's your starting quarterback". Really EA? That's the best you could do. The halftime show is a joke and a waste and the EA removed the "Extra Point" weekly show from the franchise mode.

Commentary is absolutely awful as many have said. I mean it is really, really, really bad. Worst commentary I have probably ever heard in a sports game.

Overall, I guess I am just underwhelmed again by this supposedly improved EA offering. It is not necessarily a bad game I don't feel as terrible about it as I did NCAA 12. I may keep playing it for a few more weeks to see if I like it more. But if I continue to just feel frustration as I've had so far, then it will likely just get traded in.

It is a real shame that no other companies are allowed to develop an NFL game. NBA 2k11 was one of the best sports games I have ever seen, and instead of resting on their laurels, 2K has actually gone out and by all accounts improved the offering for 2k12. Sadly, I know this will not happen with EA. I think they are very aware that most people will buy Madden regardless of whether they complain about it or not, because it is the only option out there. It would be great if for once EA would serve us a nice T-bone steak to all the hungry football fans out there instead of the constant hamburger helper that we are stuck with year after year. They know people have to eat, however, and so the process of underwhelming efforts continue.

Each and every August the video gaming public is treated to the new Madden football game for the year, and with just as much consistent frequency, the game is presented with a few tweaks, a few screw-ups, and a few totally useless add-ons. Madden 2012 is no different, and for the most part the game works great with a few glaring mistakes.

What works well for Madden 2012 is, thankfully, the actual gameplay. EA always attempts to throw new gimmicks at us with each new installment, but thankfully a lot of the updating and improvements rests with the mechanics of the actual game experience. The first noticeable attribute is the tackling and blocking. Never has Madden been more realistic in this area with the players following all the way through with their blocks and tackling completely on the player with the ball. The animations and movements are very fluid and realistic for the most part, and when you make a tackle on someone he will fall the way it feels like he should. Gone are the clipping and magnet-like actions of tackling where a defender would somehow sidestep five guys with one breath and make an incredible tackle amidst a gang of six players. This is something entirely new for the franchise, and though it took some getting used to, it definitely is a feature that is most welcome.

Another facet of Madden that has been improved upon from last year are the receivers keeping both feet in bounds for the catch. Last year's Madden did a fine job of correcting the age-old annoyance of players running out of bounds to make a catch, and this year Madden has made it even better and more realistic.

Graphically, the game is marginally better than last year, but Madden 2011 looked great anyway, so the slight improvements really look polished. The reflections in the helmets, the facial expressions, and the on field movements and footwork look very detailed and extremely realistic. When Desean Jackson scored a touchdown against me and they showed his face close up, I was stunned at how accurate he looked. Really good work.

Most of the features from last year are still here such as the deep franchise mode and the option to use the Gameflow system or conventional play-calling. For those who don't know, Gameflow is basically when the computer calls your plays for you. This feature is useless to me as I only play Madden to be my own creative self, but thankfully it's just an option.

Something that has marred all Madden games in the past is the ability of the computer to come back in the third quarter and slaughter your offense. With old Madden's, the game would become possessed if you got a lead on the computer in the third quarter, and it would simply cheat in order to even up the score. That doesn't happen with Madden 2012, and it's yet another cool attribute that has changed this year. Another annoyance that is gone is the action of throwing ridiculous interceptions whilst getting sacked. In Madden 2011, if you were in the process of getting sacked the ball would shoot into the air and, of course, into the arms of a waiting defender. It would never go into your hands, always the defense. Moreover, it was totally unrealistic. In Madden 2012, when you get sacked, you get sacked. No balls shooting into the air, and no CPU's taking advantage of weird developer placed glitches.

Despite so many things that make Madden 2012 such a highly playable experience, there are some brand new issues that have made themselves evident, and it will really make you wonder if the Madden franchise will ever be able to get everything right.

One of the maddening things this game franchise does, every single year, is spend far too much time making changes to peripheral things that no one cares about. The kick meter, for instance. Every single year the developers feel it's necessary to change the kicking meter in some way. Why do this? Are people really clamoring for a new kick meter each year? This year's kick meter is the worst it's been for years, as well. It starts off slow, then goes fast, then slows down again, with the gauge being this weird crescent-moon shaped orb which makes it slightly difficult to tell what the hell is going on. The kicking meter was perfect two years ago. A straight bar across, push the buttons, and you're golden. Instead, the developers are obsessed with changing it, AGAIN.

Madden 2012 is unique, though, for its introduction of some new and improved problems to go with the new improvements. The first issue you'll run into is the clunky play-calling process. In the past, when you selected a play, then changed your mind and went to a different formation, your previous entry would still be selected for you to more easily navigate. This year, if you want to go backwards in the play-calling setup, it will take you back to the top of the play-calling system making it tedious and time-consuming to get back to where you were in the first place. For instance, if you call the shotgun formation, then navigate halfway down the list to the "spread" execution, then change your mind and go back to the shotgun formation, it will take you to the top of the shotgun formation instead of leaving you at the "spread" execution. Every single Madden in the past would take you right back to where you were before you called a play, but now you have to thumb through all the options a second time. With the play clock moving, this can get really annoying.

Another odd thing about the new Madden is waiting for the computer to take kicks. When the CPU scores and comes in to make an extra point, a full ten seconds will crawl by before the CPU actually makes the kick. Hurry up and kick already! What's the holdup?

Another pointless addition this year is the on-field intros to the players and such. Yes, it makes it more realistic, but does anyone really care about this? I find it hard to believe that many Madden players are jonesing for new intros and fanfare to their favorite video game football team.

And, once again, the commentary is no less than awful. It's intriguing to think of why EA can never seem to get this issue right, but the commentary is, as always, late, pointless, and completely ingratiating. Chris Collinsworth's snarky delivery has always been amusing and entertaining, but Gus Johnson has got to go. The guy is just terrible. One of the typical things he'll say is "he caught that for the first down, didn't he???" Uh, yeah, genius. Are you watching the same game I am? One of the most irritating things Johnson will do is get all excited about absolutely NOTHING AT ALL. Yeah, yeah, I know that's his schtick, but gimme a break already. He'll say things like, "THIRD DOWN AMD SIX TO GOOOOOOOOO" or just make sounds like a barn animal. Wow, really? You're gonna get excited about that? Keeping my fingers crossed that EA will axe his completely useless behind. More than that, though, the commentary is just late. You'll throw an 80 yard touchdown bomb, but if Collinsworth and Johnson are busy rambling on about something completely irrelevant they will stop at nothing in order to finish their aimless diatribes. The most exciting commentary you'll hear is when the CPU makes a great play. This only proves that the CPU knows what it's going to do before you do, making it kind of tough to follow along with the commentary.

Without question, the biggest annoyance with Madden 2012 is the superhuman ability of every opposing middle linebacker you will face throughout your season. You will soon learn, after playing three or four games against the CPU, that you will not be playing against defenses, but playing against one single middle linebacker who will block every other pass, make every other tackle, and make amazing glimpses into the future and call each and every route your receiver runs. You'll be amazed with what each MLB, regardless of skill level, is able to accomplish: jumping five feet in the air to make an interception, one-handed grabs, one-armed tackles, and just the general ability to suss out whatever it is you'll be doing. I had called a slant play and the hot route was to the slot receiver. The MLB slowly crept over to the slot guy, knowing he would be the hot route. I called an audible to my running back, and all of a sudden the MLB crept over to the left to cover the route of the running back to the other side. How would the MLB know this? Quite simply, he wouldn't. This is the single biggest drawback of the game this year in that, no matter what you call, you have to be ready to take on the MLB. He will just omnipotently KNOW what you're up to. What this indicates to me is that the computer obviously knows what you're calling and the code writers of the game have heaped all of the defensive challenges on one player. That's all fine and dandy, but when you're taking on one player instead of an entire defense it gets very unrealistic. It seems as if the developers have done this to make the game more of a challenge, and while this game is the most challenging it's been in quite some time, it makes these changes in trade of realism. When you check the stats at the end of the game, the opposing MLB will have 30 tackles, an interception, and a sack. Kind of ridiculous.

When all is said and done, there is much to like about Madden 2012. I would give this game three and half stars if I could, but I think three stars would be too harsh in light of Amazon's rating system. What ultimately rings true about this game is that it can't decide where exactly it's going. It's trying really hard to appeal to the hardcore Madden pros, like myself, by making it more challenging and less flashy. At the same time, it really wants to woo new amateurish fans by including things like Gameflow and adding useless peripherals like extended team intros and highly annoying commentary that would only be helpful to an 8-year-old. It's trying too hard to be something for everyone and cutting corners to get there. Any Madden fan is going to see that Madden 2012 is a slight step backwards for the franchise despite some nice improvements. One thing EA needs to learn is that you don't always have to make changes to something that already works.

Buy Madden NFL 12 Now

In the past few years, we have seen the same old features with next-gen Madden games. If you read my Madden 11 review, you'll know lack of multi-hit tackles; suction, morphing, and tumbleweeds have been the Achilles heel of Madden games. I figured Madden 11 would be different, but it was not. After another Madden fiasco, I decided if another Madden game had these issues, I would not buy another Madden game, ever. Well, there is none of those issues on this newest version of Madden. For those, who have not played the demo, this is what Madden 12 is all about.....

Build A Franchise: This feature is VERY deep. For example, the players now have hot and cold streaks. In addition, there is a free-agent bidding systems, which gives the player a certain time and a certain amount of money to sign the coveted free-agent. Also, the franchise mode has something, which is called hot and cold streaks for player performance.

Custom Playbooks: For those, who wanted this feature, look no farther! This feature allows the player to edit an existing playbook or just create another one.

Dynamic Player Performance: This could be the most interesting new feature on the game. This feature shows the affects of a player's tendencies in a game. For example, if the player has a trait, such a "drops open passes", they are not likely to be very consistent in catching the ball, ESPECIALLY in clutch time. This feature is more dynamic in Franchise mode because their tendencies can affect how they play, each week, instead of each game. Also, you can edit these traits to your liking, when choosing to edit a players ratings.

Enhanced Tackling System/Gameplay: This is my favorite feature of the game. No more motion shifting, morphing or suction animations on a ball carrier. The tackles are collision based, which means the player now has to make physical contact with the ball carrier, in order to make a tackle. In addition, location is also important to make a sufficient tackle.

The hits can be extremely hard because they are momentum based. With that being said, hits never felt so good on a game because there is FINALLY no motion shifting or morphing. You follow all the way through with a hit. If your defender does not have the momentum to make a hit, he may just make an arm tackle or he might not be able to make a successful tackle, at all. Once again, location is vital to making a sufficient tackle. The multi-hit tackles are great. Each defender, who engages ball carrier, can possibly get involved in a tackle. In addition, you'll see stolen tackles, as well. No more tumbleweed animations.

Throwing on the defense can sometimes be a daunting task, especially above the Pro level. You must choose your throws very carefully. The better your QB's throwing power and accuracy, the better off you'll be. Don't worry! If you do choose to play on the All-Pro level, you will not experience the constant route jumping by defenders, which you can experience, if you have played the All-American level of NCAA Football 12. On Madden 12, defenders will sometimes jump routes, especially if his awareness rating is higher.

The blocking is excellent in the game. In fact, I would say the blocking on this game is the best of any Madden title on next-gen. With that being said, running on this game is a very rewarding experience. Unlike previous EA Sports titles, the AI of your players rarely misses an assignment. Players block and immediately look for a player to block. I have seen some very realistic DL/OL engagements, as well.

Graphics/Visuals: Once again, Madden has set the bar for graphics and visuals. Player's faces and uniforms are increasingly detailed and vivid. Everything you see on a players' uniform can be seen in this game. In pre-game, you'll see all 32 team specific run-outs. Then, there is degradation of players uniforms, based on the surface of the field. That is not necessarily new, but it is in the game. I WOULD say the degradation is more detailed, though. You'll see scuffs on helmets, grass stains, and grass stains on the uniform. On replays, you'll see 3D grass. I love to see the grass or turf flying up, as player's cleats go against the surfaces. In addition, you'll see animations, which pertains to certain players. For example, if Clay Matthews makes a big play, he'll flex his muscles. The commentary is still not that great, though. The halftime show is STILL terrible. I don't know why it is so hard for EA Sports to create a real halftime show.

Overall, Madden 12 is not perfect. However, it is a step in the right direction. If you have been disappointed in past versions of Madden games for next-gen, this is version should make up for the disappointment.

Read Best Reviews of Madden NFL 12 Here

First, a disclaimer: For those that have played Madden since the PS2 generation, I think the best two are...

PS2: Madden 2005 (and indeed, I think this is the best one period)

PS3: Madden 2010 (play 2012 and go back to 2010, the presentation is so much better)

Which brings me to Madden NFL 2012. I hestiated to buy this until my wife made the suggestions, who am I to argue? I had heard things about the "Dynamic Player Performance" and all the other improvements, so I said what the heck?

First, the good:

The game is looking great graphically. They've nailed the stadiums (and indeed, a lot of the intros), the menus are sharp and easy to read, and overall it's more polished then other PS3 Maddens.

GameFlow returns but for someone like me who has played with the Steelers for many years, and knows their best plays, it's nice the conventional option was left. I was up and running in no time even though it had been many months since I played Madden.

The online community/matchmaking process has been significantly improved and the trolls/cheaters that have plagued this game online for years is likely to be all but eliminated, so kudos for EA for finally getting this fixed.

Now, the not-so-good:

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this game, and let me tell you that they nailed one thing: The announcing is HORRIBLE in this game. A few examples:

*I'm up 35-0 and they go "The Ravens better do something on this drive because if they don't, man it's going to be a long day". You think?

*TWO times I know i heard Gus Johnson refer to my offense as the DEFENSE...how in the WORLD does that get in a final product?

You would think in 2011 they could get this right...but no. It still sucks.

While the graphics are good, the actual game performance leaves somethings to be desired. Clipping is rampant (not the football penalty), a couple times in my first game the crowd (cardboard and pixelated as it was) got in front of the players on a cutscene, they play the SAME cutscenes after a guy scores a TD, I mean I could go on and on but this stuff should be fixed by the 2012 game now.

The difficulty has some seriously wild swings that are either way too easy or ludiciously difficult. Is it too much to ask to have a nice middle ground?

This might be the easiest set of sport game trophies to earn on the PS3. I got SIX of them in my very first game! And the only ones I see that are majorly difficult are the ones that require 100 yard returns for TD's. Past games have had a lot more specific challenges and they had to be played in All Pro...these can be earned on any difficulty level.

It was tremendously easy in Madden 2005 to manage your Franchise (players, etc.) but this interface is way too clunky for its own good, even with all the details they added. Sometimes simple presentation is MUCH better.

Why Madden went away from what they had in 2010 (i.e. the halftime show, etc.) is beyond me. The lame excuse they have in its place (a couple random highlights) is a joke. Oh, and I guess Gus Johnson couldn't be bothered to say the teams NAMES when he says what the score is at the end of every quarter! I have NEVER seen that in all the years I've played Madden.

And in the end, EA doesn't care. They know there will be a significant part of the population that will pick it up just because it's the next game in the series. Games like NHL 11 (and upcoming 12) have advanced and are now far superior to the NFL product, but of course Madden's going to sell like hotcakes so they don't care.

So, if you're someone that likes the updated rosters, and can appreciate the few improvements they put in, go ahead and buy it again. Just know what you'er getting. I don't see this game drawing any new players into Madden who haven't played it before, and Madden's got a long road to climb back that we probably won't see until the PS4/next Xbox generation.

Want Madden NFL 12 Discount?

Each and every year I tell myself that I'm done with Madden. And what do I do? I get suckered in and buy it. But this is the last time, I traded it in, this is the first time I ever traded in a Madden game.

I remember playing the franchise mode with every single NFL team, and having a blast. This game has consistently went downhill for years. The franchise mode sucks, plain and simple. I couldn't even make it through week 8, I just couldn't take it anymore. Don't get me started on online gameplay.....

Reasons why Madden 12 sucks:

1) Where is the half-time show with highlights during franchise mode? How do you have the audacity to call this 'real football' but you're too lazy to implement a half-time show, yeah that's real football.

2) Why is the franchise mode interface so darn confusing? It's so much work to navigate around the franchise mode menu just to look at things like 'stats'. If I'm done viewing passing yards leaders and I want to look at rushing leaders, I have to exit out and go back in again, why? On NFL.com I don't have to do that.

3) Why is it impossible to complete a pass to a WR running a deep post? Although Madden has tons and tons of passing plays, there are only a few that are actually worth running. It's impossible to complete a deep post in this game. It's either batted down or intercepted. If you have ever played Madden, you know what I'm talking about.

4) Why do I get sacked EVERYTIME I play-action pass? This has been the case for the past few years, attempt a play action pass, and you'll get sacked 1 second after you finish the play fake.

5) Why does just about every deep throw end in an interception, broken up, under throw, over throw, or thrown out of bounds? (notice that completed was not one of the choices) If I'm playing online and I see cover 0, I'm going deep to Megatron because it's man to man with no safety help. If I throw it 10 times to him, he catches 1, yeah, that's the way it happens in the NFL.....

6) Why does everyone online use the exact same defense? If you've played online, chances are that you've ran into the infamous cover 0 defense. The best way to combat cover 0 is to throw it deep. Well, not in Madden 12. First of all, if you try to run a regular pass play against this cover 0, you're sacked. If you run, you're stuffed in the backfield. If you run a pitch outside, you may gain a couple of yards. If you throw it deep, like you should, you won't complete it (see #5)

7) Why do I disconnect from the EA servers and get charged with a loss even though it's not my fault? This problem has plagued Madden online for years and continues with Madden 12. There is nothing more frustrating then being up 31-3 in the 4th quarter and BOOM, lost connection..charged with a loss.

8) Why do I feel like Im on roller skates when playing defense? I usually play with a CB and it's hard as heck to cover WRs in this game. I understand momentum, but this is ridiculous. It's impossible to cover a WR man to man, even if you have Revis. If their WR makes a cut, your momentum takes you in the other direction as if you're on roller skates or something. Not fun playing as a defensive back....

9)Why did everyone that gave this game 5 stars, only write 2 sentences about it? Go into detail like the 1 star reviewers do. I'm just saying...If this game is so great, give us something more than "This is the best Madden on Earth". Tell us why.

10) When are we gonna wake up and realize this game will never change for the better as long as EA has exclusive rights to make it? I long for the days of 2K5, I'll leave it at that.

I blame myself for this, I need to stop buying the game. Perhaps I've finally learned my lesson.

This is the ultimate fighting stick and truly brings the arcade experience home. The sheer size and weight of the stick brings home the point that this is the king of all arcade stick controllers.

It is designed in collaboration with TAITO to recreate the TAITO "VEWLIX" Arcade cabinet. The stick uses authentic Sanwa stick and buttons and has other functions classic to the Real Arcade Pro. series like the turbo and the stick control toggle function. It also has a non-slip surface on the entire bottom and comes with an additional option board that you can mount the controller on to further enhance your stability.

The main feature for this controller has to be the fact that you can easily access the internal of the controller by simply unscrewing 3 screws. Maintenance and customization is a breeze to any other controllers out there.

Overall, this controller addresses all the players wants and needs and is a masterpiece of a arcade stick controller.

A must buy for any player serious for an authentic arcade experience.

GENERAL:

I purchased the stick when it was on sale here for $65 off the list price and it was worth every penny.

I've used several joysticks (Hori Fighting Stick 2, HRAP3, MadCatz SE (with full Sanwa) and TE Round 1 FightSticks) and the VLX would be my weapon of choice any day. When using it on a table the rubber bottom ensures the stick will not move. The wooden option board is a nice touch as well if you want to mount your stick to it, but I find simply placing the stick on the board works well. Note the stick does not have any protruding rubber feet to potentially interfere with lap use. Lap use may not be as comfortable compared to other sticks due to the weight (12 lbs) but you'll get used to it. In comparison the HRAP3 weighs 5.7 lbs.

LOOKS:

The VLX is the most beautiful mass produced stick I've seen yet. While most of the black parts of the stick are matte the rest provides a nice glossy contrast. The top art is a nice metallic red with some mirror accents and you really need to either see the VLX in person or watch some videos to see how light interacts with the glossy parts.

SOUND:

The sound of the joystick and buttons are much more hollow when used and that's due to the sheer physical size of the housing. Not only is this much wider than the Round 1 TE FightStick but it is taller as well. The hollow sound doesn't bother me though.

USAGE:

Let me start by mentioning one of my favorite features: the angled palm rest. I was afraid I wasn't going to like it since I've been using the Round 1 MadCatz TE Stick with the flat surface, but I was able to make an immediate adjustment to the angled palm rest and love it. Using this stick feels much more natural to me.

The joystick (JLF) and buttons (OBSF) are your typical Sanwa variety and the general consensus on them is they are high quality arcade parts that can take a beating and are great to use. If you've ever used these Sanwa parts or own any variety of a MadCatz TE stick then you'll know what they feel like: the joystick is responsive and the buttons are sensitive.

I've opened the stick to replace the L1 and L2 buttons with the included button plugs and everything inside the stick is cleanly wired and organized. I put the 2 extra buttons in the button holders found inside the stick in case any of my main 6 have issues.

The USB cable storage compartment is large enough for the 3m cable to easily fit. I placed the included cleaning cloth in the back of the storage compartment to clean the surface here and there.

Transporting the stick has been an issue due to the irregular large size and fortunately Hori released a travel bag made to fit the VLX. Unfortunately they're charging a hefty price ($39.99) and since their site is the primary store selling it the shipping cost pushes the bag close to $50. For $50 you could almost get the HRAP3!

CONCLUSION:

To me this is the king of joysticks. It reminds me of the times I spent playing SF4 in Japanese arcades. At the price point this is a joystick for enthusiasts, collectors, and those who aren't hesitant to spend. However if you get this joystick you won't regret it.

I've played in arcades in Japan, and until now, I have yet to feel anything close to the actual feel of the arcade machines.

Then a friend recommended this to me, and now I recommend this to all of you.

This fighting stick feels like heaven in your hands. The resistance of the joystick feels loose enough to not have to put your whole body weight into moving, but not light enough to input more commands than you want to.

The buttons have the right amount of spring to them, and the layout feels very natural to play on.

It's a great feeling to have this behemoth in your hands.

CONS:

The only thing that really bothers me is how big the stick is; it's roughly almost 2 feet in length. Also, the joystick and the buttons seem rather close for how long the stick itself is.

Over-all, it's a fantastic piece of equipment.

HRAP vlx is by far one of the most sturdiest, heaviest arcade joystick I've ever played with. With the addition to the sanwa parts that come with the joystick, feels like you're really in the arcades. I've been playing fighting games with this joystick, and I usually play aggressively, therefore my motions using the stick is pretty forceful, however, no matter how much force I put in, It is still extremely sturdy and strong and doesn't move as much. This product is definitely recomended if you're a die hard arcade fan and want the full experience of being in the arcades at your home.

The only thing that I see as something to look out for is that when pressing the buttons, it does feel slightly hollow compared with the MadCatz tournament edition fightstick. I believe it is because the box itself has a lot of space inside and the top is slightly thin. Yet this feel is really subjective, I personally don't mind it. Especially when Im focusing on beating the bosses, I don't even really notice it while i'm furiously trying to win a game. The price is pretty expensive too. All in all this is a great joystick and I do recommend this product for those die hard arcade gamers!

man, pretty much what all other reviewers said about this stick is all true. it feels like i'm playing with silk. sooooo goood!

and that just made my disappointment THAT much worse when i came to find out that sony has yet to (and probably never will) release updates to get it to function with ps2 backwards compatibility. i have a ridiculous library of ps2 fighters, and that was one of the deciding factors on getting this stick.....

again. THIS STICK WILL NOT WORK WITH THE PS2 PORTION OF BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE PS3'S.

on the other hand, it DOES work wonderfully with everything else! playstation 1 games running on ps3 ARE compatible and play amazingly with it. and you can usb it into a pc and most things run fine with no other software involved (at least on win 7)!!!

the few problems i had (specifically with "super street fighter 4 ae") were all solved by using "x360ce"(search google. its easier than it looks to use it). any other issues are solved with "joy2key".

i went into this purchase expecting that people over-exaggerated how good it is. they weren't. they were under-exaggerating. within five minutes, i actually knew i was better at fighters than i had ever been before. what you attempt to input into this thing generally is what gets read by it. wanna do 90 dragon punches in a row in your sleep (on your first try, when you used to have trouble pulling even ONE off in the heat of the moment before)? no problem!!! i would compare "coming off a Mad Catz Street Fighter IV FightStick into THIS CONTROLLER" to "selling your old run down station wagon and getting a brand new sports car".

as sad/mad as i was that i couldn't play my ps2 fighters(and i was REALLY mad), after using it, i almost could care less. this controller is mad expensive, but if you can afford it (and don't care/are willing to overlook the lack of ps2 compatibility), then it's more than worth it! the fact i have no choice but to give it a perfect review even though it lacked an important (to me) feature should definitely say something about the product (and in hori's defense, sony is entirely responsible for the lack of functionality.)

(yes, i'm sure a custom made stick is probably better, but this might as well be one. and heck, it seems so easy to mod and repair, if you dislike something you can just change it!)

With MGM fighting bankruptcy, the next Bond film will be a long wait ahead. Gladly, they pushed out Blood Stone to make some sort of revenue. I had low expectations for this game, honestly. But this game took some liberties, and without a movie to restrict the game's story, production designers had a lot of freedom.

The gameplay is 3rd person. I couldn't help thinking of the awful Tomorrow Never Dies gaming from the PSOne era when reading this on the game info. The contols are very solid for a shooter. Activision went with a shoot/cover scheme simular to Rainbox Six series. The firefights emphisise keeping cover and taking time for that critical shot, spray and pray gunstyle gets you killed terribly quick. There's also an added melee feature that has Bond perform CQC on enemies within an arms reach. I've found this feature to be the most entertaining. You're constantly pushing forward toward your objective, with an enemy attempting to block your path you can smoothly take him down and not miss a beat on your sprint. A very Bond move not really attempted in previous games. On a side note, the game is visually amazing. The ambiance in the background is polished off well.

And for the not so great. The game wants so hard to incorporate the Bond vehicle chase sequences, which could have been more refined before the game's release. Driving controls are very sluggish. I've attempted to get the driving physics down, but still can quite make the smooth drifting turns the game simply instructs. These driving controls are my only real complaint about the game. Thankfully, they took the time to really smooth out the rest of the gameplay. I also understand this is not a driving game and not the primary selling point, but if it's going to be put in the final product, it should be done well. Again, this wouldn't even be an issue if there was only a couple driving sequences throughout the whole game. I've only played the first few levels and half were a driving/vehicle chase. This seems to be the running trend for the game.

If you can manage with driving sequences that seem like a chore than gameplay, this game is an overall hit. Even with my minor complaint, I find the game addicting and entertaining. Highly recommended for any Bond fan, or anyone wanting to step away from first person shooters.

Yes I do believe that James Bond Bloodstone is the 2010 Game of the Year. It excels in every aspect and is an amazing thrill ride. The game plays a lot like many other third person shooters namely Uncharted, because there are some jumps and ledges for Bond to climb around to kill his enemies in this installment. These little added platforming sequences add some great depth to the already stable shooter mechanics. Added as well are driving missions. These are done extremely well by the developers behind Project Gotham Racing. They look great and the cars handle with some great precision. After all what is James Bond without some car chases. There isn't an over abundance of them but they are of great quality and add the movie-like experience that Bond fans want.

The graphics are a lot better than I expected. Some areas look better than others but overall the game is gorgeous. There are also quite a few cut scenes which is rare for a Bond game. They are well done and add even more to that movie-like feel the developers strived for. Daniel Craig along with Judi Dench lend there voices and it really adds to your feeling of actually controlling Bond.

There are both stealth missions and full out action ones. Also in the stealth missions you can just kill everything and not be stealthy at all if you wish. You use your smart phone to hack cameras and computers and it is your tried and true gadget of choice. Most of the time you have to do a quick time event to hack the electronic device. These QTE events are fun and done pretty well. There nothing extraordinary but they do make you earn the use of your gadget.

The game uses a cover system that woks rather well. You can easily switch cover and guide along it in order to position yourself to kill the target. Another big part of the combat system is the physicality that Craig brings to Bond. You will probably kill a lot of enemies by punching them in the face. The game rewards you for doing so by giving you a free head shot. Every person that you take down with your fist gives you a Bond moment where you are guaranteed one head shot. It works similar to the system used in Splinter Cell Conviction. You zoom in on a guys head and pull the trigger. No one can shoot you while you are in this mode.

The story is also a great highlight. Is it the best spy tale ever? No, but it does have it's share of twists and turns, and really keeps you hooked to find out who's behind the curtain pulling all the strings. Also there are a ton of of Bond type moments that you expect. There are funny and some unbelievable moments that come with the territory and are very typical of a Bond movie or game in this case.

This game is in no doubt my choice for GOTY. It plays with great precision in all aspects. The story, car chases, Bond moments, and just plain kick ass quality that we expect from a movie all inter twined in this amazing game. If you are a fan of James Bond or just 3rd person shooters in general pick this game up I highly recommend it.

I just rec'd this game the day it launched and I can tell you that the graphics may suck at very beginning of playing the game, but there is so much action that takes place, you'll soon pay no mind to it. Compared to "Quantum of Solace", it surpasses it because the gameplay is by far the most refreshing thing to the gaming community. The controls are intuitive, not difficult at all to master because the game prompts don't take you by surprize. Boy! The action is top notch too! Even though I haven't finished the game yet, the game definitely reminds me and plays like "Uncharted 2". It truly is a very good game for even those hard core gamers. Get it a try, you won't be disappointed. It's not perfect with the graphics---but I'm sure the developer will do a patch to adjust it.

I like third person games. I enjoy playing as a character I recognize. This game is excellent on both those fronts. The story is simple, the decision making is minimal, the variety between the shooting and driving is good. For occasional or novice gamers, this is an excellent game. For those who play seriously, this game may be too short and simplistic.

Well since I am 62 years old and played this for most of it, I hoped this would allow me to spend some of my days playing by myself on my PS3 since my wife cheats so bad I refuse to even play with her anymore! I read the first 5 or so reviews here at Amazon and thought "this is it, what I've been waiting for"....Not quite. After 3 days with this game, dealing with the frustrations of resetting ALL the features to MY preferences every single time I begin (it forgets everything you set it to when you start over!!!!), and the worst fault, one of the AI players you play against rolls ENDLESS "doubles" on the dice, allowing them to advance across the entire board, buying up EVERYTHING while I roll endless 4 0r fives and never get anywhere except to their now owned properties? NO thanks. Then, that other AI player begins rolling doubles TWICE at a time and doing so 25+% of the time? My wife doesn't even know how to cheat THAT bad! C'mon......this just isn't fun. I have mine for sale on Craigslist this 4th day of play. Sorry, I wanted this to be a relaxing game of chance. NO chance here and I regret it immensely. Graphics are nice as long as you turn OFF the endless animations that bore you to death after the 3rd or 4th run around the board. I also found myself enjoying the regular old fashioned board (available in this game) WAY more. Simply because it better allowed me to see who owned what. Not really able to tell so much if playing with the new interface board. It seems a choice of be entertained VS play the darn game?

So I regret the designers choice to stack the deck as it were with this idiotic mess of having an AI player who rolls doubles every single time they roll the dice. It simply make me ask, "WHAT'S THE POINT"! My copy used for less than 1 hour is now for sale for $25.00. If I can't dump it, I will donate it to Children's Hospital or similar Charity in hopes that if 4 people actually play head to head, MAYBE the computer doesn't allow this dice "glitch"? I only have one single controller so I am unable to test this. Best of luck to those who buy. They did just a wonderful job if not for the AI & that your settings are not remembered. I'll just go back to playing my old board game with my cheating wife. At least when I catch HER, I can drink up her beer to get even!

UPDATE: For those who do NOT read the "comments" section, this comment by Anonymous shopper adds a couple points I forgot to mention in my frustration:

Posted on Dec. 13, 2010 5:17 PM PST

Anonymous Shopper says:

I just wanted to add that you are right, the AI cheats. The cheating is blatant, undeniable, inexcusable, illogical, anything but random. In addition to all the doubles, getting exact dice rolls to skip over human-owned properties, etc., two AI players will work together against the human player. For example, they will deny a trade for 200% (or more!) profit in their favor with a human, then trade the SAME property for face value or less to another AI player, giving that AI player a monopoly.

AI players will also barrage human players for trade after trade after trade, almost always a ridiculously bad deal for the human player, and if you accidentally hit the OK button to stop all the pop-ups, you accidentally give away one of your properties for less than it is worth and there is no way to correct that mistake without ending the game.

To sum this review up, I now suspect my wife conspired with this games developers....... :-))

This is a VERY fun game!!! The new mode (Streets) is a fresh take on the classic game. I have to say....I don't play very many games online, but this game is a blast to play via the PSN network. You can customize the rules to your liking, and the game runs very smooth and no lag at all. The only gripe is that the avatars are pre-selected to match your token.....and their voices and animations can get a bit stale after a while. Fear not because the game gives you the ability to skip those animations!!! The major difference between this and the version for the Xbox 360 is that you get to use your Xbox avatars in place of the generic avatars provided in the PlayStation 3 version. I am such a fan of games, I ended up getting a copy of both for each system. This is truly ONE OF THOSE GAMES that you can spend HOURS playing!!!

I've only owned Monopoly Streets for a couple days now but I can already tell it's one of those games that you can squeeze hours and hours of fun out of. The graphics are well done and it's incredible to see the game in a 3-D perspective. All the sounds and animations are fun and you can skip ahead of any you don't want to see. You can also customize the rules and options pretty well so you can turn off movement animations. I have yet to play online but the co-op on a single console works well.

I recommend this to couples or friends that enjoy playing on one console. You can set your CPU opponents skill level which is a big help. The higher the skill level the more competitively they play and less likely they are to make a trade that doesn't benefit them to a strong degree. Overall this game is a blast and highly recommended to anyone who likes the Monopoly board game or games in general.

I really liked playing this game at first, but there are some unforgivable bugs in it. I have little hope that EA will ever fix these issues as they have lingered for months.

During game play, you'll earn points that you can use to unlock extra game boards or playing pieces. The problem is that any item you unlock(buy) will be locked the next time you start the game and the points you used to unlock the item will not be refunded.

The second major issue is that many users can't play online. Every time they try to, they get a message saying the EA servers are unavailable. For these people there are rumors that purchasing and playing certain games (Need for speed 2 or FIFA) will suddenly allow online play in this game. Personally, I've tried NCAA football 2011 and while I can connect to EA servers with that game, it doesn't appear to be the magic bullet for getting Streets to connect.

If all you want to do is play offline against the AI and don't care about unlocking the extras, then you'll probably love this game. If you want to experience all of the content or play online, you'll probably want to stay away from this title. The fact that these issues still exist 8 months after it was released is unforgivable. I also find it unforgivable for EA to be creating add-on content that can be purchased (with real money) rather than fixing fundamental flaws in this game.

This is my first review so I hope this reads okay. I was very hesitant to buy this game because of a few reviews I had read. I have to say, my wife and I love this game. We are both 32 years old and we have a 9 month old baby, so we were looking for a game we could both play and enjoy and this is it. One review I read stated that House Rules cannot be saved, they have to be readjusted with every game. This is NOT TRUE. You can label it what you would like and use those same adjusted rules every time. There are 3 pages of rules to change to your liking. (i.e. free parking pays cash, landing on GO gets you double, auctions, etc.). Another review stated the AI cheats and rolls doubles all the time. NOT totally true. They do but so did we. We both made a comment that it was completely even and fair the number of double we all rolled. We also liked the fact that you could turn off the computer players if you just wanted to play with just 2 people. There are around 10 new pieces and also a few additional board styles to buy with your monopoly money and also a few to buy with actual cash.

You can play with your friends or just random people on the web also. We haven't tried that yet so I will update that later.

I definitely recommend this title to any age, it's a fun time and seems like it will be for months to come.

Being a big fan of Left 4 Dead, I wasn't sure what to expect from this. But I love the missions and the graphics and the ability to create and upgrade weapons. The only issue I have with the game is not being able to save it whenever I want. But the game is fast paced and freaky and full of fun. And having different characters with different special skills makes you want to play it through more than once. The first time I played it, I played for 3 hours straight without even realizing it. I highly recommend this game.

Dead Island is one of the best zombie apocalypses game ever. Although it is far from the same as "Resident Evil" or any other typical zombie game. It has a very different approach when it comes to killing the walking dead, it does have guns but I would say they are more for the the living in the game rather then the dead due to the limited amount of ammo. Don't get me wrong when you are lets say taking over a building run by bandits, there is plenty of ammo since they have guns as well. Enough of explaining about the guns, lets get to the real point of interest. This is more of a hack and slash game with a huge twist in it Yes your hacking up zombies Yes it takes place in modern times and although you might be thinking how fun can running around slashing zombies over & over & over again. Well did I mention the awesome weapons modification system this game has, through out the game you get rewarded and find these amazing weapons mods. Like the "Lighting Mod" where you take a machete and strap some battery's and wires to it and It becomes a crazy Zapping Slashing Decapitating machine. This is just one out of about 75 different mods and maybe even more. I dont want to spoil the game anymore then I already did but If you have never played this game and are thinking about getting but are not sure if you think you will like it, well If you think what I have talked about caught your interest at all GET IT!! This is a huge free roam game with a amazing story line that really keeps you interested even minute of the game and also there is about 25 hours or more of on the edge of your seat missions and side missions. Hope you enjoy it as much I did, also don't forget "Dead Island Riptide" is coming out the end of this month April 23, 2013 so defiantly keep that in mind after you beat this one. Enjoy.

This review will be mostly a comparison with the rock band 1 set, so I'll assume most people reading this are familiar with the game and/or the RB1 set. I'll also mention briefly the cymbal expansion and how it differs from the original play style. To start off, though, I'll list some of the features of this new set.

+Wireless

+Sound dampening pads

+Velocity sensitive (the harder you hit, the louder the sound)

+Metal-reinforced pedal

+Cymbal expansion ports

The set out of the box is just as simple as the first one to set up, and even if you have not put one together before, it is fairly self-explanatory. Square peg goes in the square hole, as it were. It took me about 5 minutes to socket the pieces and get it to the appropriate height I wanted. My overall impressions of the set are that although it is made with more plastic than aluminum this time around, the frame itself seems sturdier, with less wobble because the base and sides are a bit wider. Three AA batteries are needed, so you might want to invest in some rechargable batteries if you plan on playing quite a bit.

When playing, I can hear quite a difference from the original pads, and the sound dampening is indeed doing its job. However, it doesn't soften the sound *as much* as the silencer pads that are sold separately, so if you ended up buying those prior to this set, you may want to hang on to them. In fact, because I don't have a surround sound system on my TV, I found it hard to hear the different noises coming from the velocity sensitive pads unless I turned the TV up uncomfortably loud. In other words, the pads are softer, but still have some clacking going on that may interfere with some people's playing.

Visually, I can see a difference coming from the velocity sensitive equipment, and it gives you an on-screen cue on the lights at the bottom to tell you if what you just did was a soft or hard hit (there isn't anything in-between soft and hard) The velocity sensitive angle strikes me as a nice addition to the franchise, but it's purely for show.

The pedal, meanwhile, is holding up like a champ. I've never been one to slam down on it very much, but the metal plate will give me some added comfort while I play. On the other hand, it is only a plate covering the (still plastic) pedal, and not a replacement for the hinge at the bottom of the pedal, which is where most people have a problem. Expert level players or people who tend to bang on the pedal might still consider a replacement kit to make sure nothing happens to theirs.

Lastly, I bought the 2 pack of cymbals to plug in the expansion ports, and although I won't review them here, I will talk about how they make the game different. The striking part of the cymbals are rubber, so in theory they shouldn't make much noise, but in practice, they are as loud if not louder than the sound dampening pads. Anyone with thin walls or parents they don't want to wake up should be aware that this might still be a problem.

In-game, I've found myself avoiding the cymbals to start off with, because of the added difficulty of switching from pad to cymbal, but also because there is no in-game indicator of which one to use. I suppose I should have known this going in, but I supposed that there would be a way to switch the note charts somehow in the game so that it knew whether the player was using a standard kit or one with cymbals, and changed the notes accordingly. As it is, I'm certainly no drum expert, so knowing instinctively when I should be using what (pad or cymbal) is somewhat of an exercise in frustration, and makes me think that I'm really just picking up bad drumming habits that I'll later have to break. What it comes down to is that if you know a song by heart, or play live drums, this won't be a problem. For everyone else, hoping that this would be something of a drum trainer, the cymbals come off as a tacked-on experience. (Yes, I realize the irony of saying an expansion is tacked-on, but still)

They work as intended, but not without the players knowledge of how to use them. Not even the in-game drum trainer will be much help here because there is still no visual indicator of which object to hit.

As a whole, the set is a spot-on practical improvement. They located problem areas and seem to have improved on them so that the consumer wouldn't have to. But for many of the spots where they tried to take things a bit further (cymbals, velocity sensitive), the experience feels extraneous. The average user can be content with their Rock Band 1 drum kit, given that it is still in playing condition. With 20/20 hindsight, $90 seems like a steep price to pay for the relatively small advancements that this kit allows you to do.

The bottom line: This kit is good, but I would say it's better for people who have not already bought a rock band drum kit, and want one that will last.

Edited 3/18/09: After a few months of play, I thought I would note a couple of other flaws that came up. First of all, the clasps used for the height rods are too loose on my kit, so when I raised the kit and clamped them down, they would come loose while I played, making the whole thing crash down to floor level in the middle of a song. Not good. I had to solve this by switching out the base of my RB1 kit for the RB2 one, but be aware that this can be a problem, and you may have to RMA yours if you pick one up. Secondly, the pedal, as expected, has begun to crack at the hinge, so in all honesty, it's still a question of "when" and not "if" the pedal will break, even on this second generation set. Unfortunately, it looks like the real bottom line is that customers have gotten the shaft as far as Rock Band is concerned. These issues combined with the price knock my review down to 3/5 stars.

I ordered the Rock Band 2 Standalone Drum because my previous Rock Band Drum was broken (Red pad stopped working and kick pedal was broken even after using the pedal repair). While examining the contents of the box. I discovered that the battery case cover was missing which annoyed me a little bit. Other than that, assembling the drum was easier (height notification lines helped in adjusting the height of the drum while maintaining the balance of the drum)), less pad noise, firm kick pedal and an overall good-looking drum.

The only thing about this product that did not improve compared to the previous Rock Band drum is the drumsticks. The previous drumsticks were more realistic and comfortable to use in my opinion.

Finally, I recommend this product for all Rock Band and Rock Band 2 players (drummers). It will solve all of your problems regarding the drum.

This drum set is much better than the first one. The rebound is vastly improved and wireless is nice. The D-Pad is still hit or miss on the XMB, though, so you'll still need to have a controller next to you. And if you used a Roadie pedal with your first kit, it will be worthless when you upgrade to this new one. The pedal that comes with it is ok, but the spring is WAY too stiff and it's so lightweight that the cord moves it out of position. (I set it to the side of the stand, not on the crossbars.) The pads themselves make it worthwhile if your old kit is shot, but I can't give it 5 stars. If your old kit will last, wait until the price comes down from $90.

I have played on the RB1 drums, GHWT drum set, and this one. While I am not an elite drummer by any means from what I have personally seen these are the best of the 3.

These drums are cordless. HUGE factor for us allowing us to set them anywhere in the room and never worry if our kids will trip over the cord. We have been to several friends houses that have the corded drum sets and it is a constant battle to keep the kids from tripping over the wires. Tripping would not be good for the kid or the equipment obviously so they are ever vigilant... lucky for us this RB2 set does not have that issue.

They work great on RB1 and GHWT as well. So no issue with being compatible.

Hit detection. I really can not compare this to the other 2 drum sets since I have never had an issue with any of them in hit detection. Perhaps others have had more experience here but so far they have been great. I have had only an issue with having to constantly calibrate the drums and guitars to the TV but that is an issue with the game and not this equipment.

The final thing I cared about here was for the price of these darn drums, I wanted something to last. So far in my 9 months with the drums, they have held up great and we play almost every day. I have had no issues at all with them and highly recommend them to anyone that wants to play RB1, RB2, GHWT, or other similar games with drums.

NO RUMBLE and NO SIXAXIS. I don't understand why Psyclone didn't include at least the rumbling feature. A lot of people where blasting sony for not including it in the original sixaxis. Really disappointing because I really like the way it feels in my hand and the triggers. The triggers are some of the best designed on any controller in my opinion. They move so smoothly. They offer hardly any resistance. Kind of reminds me of my Springfield XD 45 in a way. I wish I could take the insides of the dualshock and put them in this controller. It would be perfect for me. It also has a on/off switch which is nice. The aluminum on the controller feels really nice especially if its cold. I would keep this controller if it just had rumble in it. I can do without the sixaxis but not the rumble. Psyclone had a good idea with this item but just failed to out do the dualshock. The analog sticks are stiffer then sony's but I actually found myself enjoying their stiffness. If you don't need the rumbling feature or sixaxis then this would be a great product for you. Oh yeah this is a RF controller so it won't turn on your PS3 but it does have a home button.

I was foolish enough to get two of these.

As others have stated, this controller does not connect via Bluetooth, but with a USB receiver that must be plugged into the front of the PlayStation 3. For the first controller, this connection worked perfectly for the first month or so (this is why I invested in the second controller). But after a while, the controller would occasionally fail to connect to the receiver, making it unusable. As time went on, the number of lucky chances where a connection was made became fewer and fewer, until the controller now simply refuses to connect at any time. I have tried following the instructions word for word, tried Googling answers, tried every possible combination of the "connect" button on the controller and the button on the receiver-pressing one then the other, holding one and pressing the other, pressing both at the same time, holding both-as well as every possible combination of "connect", "home", "start", "X", et cetera. It's obvious that some type of signal is being sent, since pressing the "connect" button on the controller will make the light on the receiver flash, and vice versa. But nothing I can possibly do will actually make this controller work.

The second controller skipped the month of functionality and refused to connect straight out of the box-and yes, I have tried both controllers separately to make sure they are not interfering with each others' signals, and I have been sure not to get the two USB receivers confused. Neither controller will connect. They're paperweights.

This controller does not connect to the ps3 via Blutooth. It uses a small usb adapter. To connect, you must push a series of buttons on the usb receiver and the controller, which never works correctly on the first try. I can confirm that the R1 and L1 buttons must be mashed down to sense the push (Tested using Uncharted). The triggers have an empty and loose feel when you press them and my right trigger squeaks every time. Just do not buy this controller for any reason because it's terrible, and if you cant afford the Sony brand, there are far superior controllers by reliable companies like Mad Catz.

The controller is very hard to connect you have to go through multiple steps just to get it to work The controls are stiff and unresponsive. I bought this since it was the only one at the store with a turbo function. The turbo key is a nuisance you don't know which button is on turbo and is hard getting them to turn on and off. Also this is not turbo hold just turbo, which means i wasted my money and it will sit in a box till my other controllers break.

Got this at Target for $20 on clearance. Since I play COD:WaW with this controller, I can't say the same for other games. I like it. Controller works. The sticks a little stiff but does the job. Online gaming, the right stick was a bit unresponsive but maybe because I haven't broken it in yet. I like the RF connector on teh ps3, it doesn't look like a regular USB plug, it camouflage itself well. I can definitely see myself buying another one (for $20) and have only ONE official ps3 controller. COD seem to have broken the left stick on both my official ps3 controller.

MY problem is with the R1/L1 button. Aiming with the L1, I can't just lightly tap it, I have to hold it down firm. Lightly tapping it down, my player would aim for 2 3 sec and release the aim. If I held it down tight, it doesn't happen. Maybe it needs to be broken in too. Same thing with the R1. Sometime, my firing would cease and I have to repeatedly tap the R1 button. Great with semi and/or single shot, BAD with auto and machine gun.

My FIX: Change the button layout from Default to Default Flip (xbox360 config) which change the aim/shoot to the trigger and swap teh grenades to R1/L1. The triggers were awesome.

Will update soon regarding R1/L1 sensitivity. (Oh yeah, I try changing the game sensitivity up but that got me dizzy. LOL. Back to medium sensitivity).

If you're left handed you might be disappointed in this product, especially with the "raving reviews." However, the design of this gun will not comfortable for anyone who shoots left-handed. Bummer because it's a decent product.

looks and feels cheaply made. But it does everything I got it for

Aim is ultra-quick but precise, like playing with the highest sensitivity on the dualshock but being able to control it completely. Can aim from one side to the screen to the other almost instantly.

Controlling the nav controller with my right hand is super difficult . movement in fps for me has always been controlled with my left thumb and i get confused trying to control with the right. So i thought maybe Ill wield it left handed. It works, no awkwardness at all, immediately adjusted.

Buttons are hard to get to. L1 is hard to get to unless you adjust the handle back, which makes the analog stick hard to control.

in a situation where your in a one on one firefight and you run out of ammo and need to switch to your secondary weapon your in trouble because it takes such a long time to press the button you need.

But in a situation where your engaging your enemy at a distance I give the flex-fire the edge by far. Got my first 12 kill streak on Killzone sniping

Ok as the Title states, I do not understand they hype for this rifle. I purchased it based off of the reviews and had high hopes, however after using it for a few hours I had to put it away. I warn you I don't play FPS games with this, I got it for rail shooters.

Pros:

good gimmick with the "flex fire" part

Looks cool

Cons:

I have never fired a weapon where the trigger is next to the barrel... ever.

the but-stock is adjustable, however it is cheap, loose, and if you are an adult way too small.

The flex portion of this gun as amusing as it seams it is worthless in actual use.

I know that my review is completely opposite of most of them on here, the only thing I can figure is that the people who wrote their reviews don't actually use it, or they work for the company. I really hoped this would be a good accessory, however it is not. I'm now debating on buying the Sharp Shooter, at least if nothing else, I can use a TRIGGER to fire a GUN controller! Luckily enough, I have kids, they love playing with this, not as part of any video game, just running around pretending its a real gun.

Trigger is located on front of gun, recommend that manufacturer locates trigger to rear location. Feels like gun was desighned for left handed person, very akward to use, if right handed.

I had heard about this really funny you tube video and decided to look up flex fire. I was skeptical and thought this was just some really good actor making a funny video spoof about Billy. Didnt think it was real because there are a-lot of fake products out there. I was really impressed that this is a real gun. This really improved my gaming accuracy. I was also worried about the construction of the plastic. I usually break the guns within the first couple weeks. So I purchased 2 of them just in case. I am still playing on the first one and have logged over 86 hours of play with this gun.

FLEX FIRE ROCKS!!

Thanks Flex Fire

this is my short review and opinion of THE LAST OF US-Survival edition. the package includes:

#1 a steel book case for the game

#2 the first comic book issue of The last of us: American dreams By Dark Horse

#3 The art of THE LAST OF US (HARDCOVER) book

#4 the sights and sound DLC pack

#5 Official game soundtrack

#6 PS3 dinamic Theme

#7 PSN avatars: Winter Joel and ellie

Before i begin i advice DO NOT READ THE ART BOOK UNTILL YOU BEAT THE GAME. i know this because i let my friend read the book wile i started playing the game and he said the are SPOILERS in the book because the book goes to every part of the game. now that thats out of the way i would like to say this is one of the best games in resent times. The Graphic's are absolutetly amazing almost looking like a next generation game. gameplay is top noch amazing, this is NOT a Pray and Spray Shooter (like the call of duty series) this is a survival game, you do not have infinity ammo so shoting your way out is not the smartest action to take. there is an amazing implemented steath sistem which you can use to either take down your enemies or sneak pass them (thou sneaking past them is not always an option) in this game you also craft materials such as health kits, molotovs, shivs, smoke boms and spike grenades by using materials you find in the game, and upgrade weapons and impover you survival skill's by finding parts and pill's in the game. there is still action in this game, the brawling mecanics blended with the animations are one of the best of all time, even better than uncharted which is hard for me to say. the shooting mecanics are also prety awesome. everything all blended together is amazing, the animation effect between caracters on cutscenes or on in game cutscenes or in the gameplay is incredible. I HIGHLY recomend this game to everybody. i know and dont know. and thats only the game itself, the survival edition will give you even more extras on top of the game (if you into that kind of stuff like me) this is and amazing masterpiece game inside an amazing package with an amazing deal.

This review is for the Survival Edition and not just the game itself, which I will review once I start playing further into it.

What you get:

*Steelbook Game Case

*#1 Issue of The Last Of Us, American Dreams

*The Art of The Last Of Us

*The steelbook game case is great. It's all black and white with Ellie's face on the front side and Joel's face on the backside. The inside of the case is in color and has the voucher and stickers. All very well done.

*#1 issue of The Last Of Us: American Dreams comic by Neil Druckmann. This first issue sold out and they had to do a reprint, this issue that comes in the Survival Edition has a variant cover, pretty sweet overall. It's the standard single issue length of a comic, a little over 20 pages. This 4 part mini-series should be concluding in July.

*The Art of The Last Of Us was the main reason I wanted this. The hardcover is great, glossy and clean looking. Tons of pictures inside as well. If you got the Art of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (also a Naughty Dog game, like I need to tell any of you) this "Art of" book is very similar. Character development and design as they refined and honed in on the final look, level design and lay-out, great computer and hand rendered 3D models and texturing. At 170 pages you get to see a whole lot of the talent and attention to detail that went into making this game.

*One sheet with the DLC voucher code for the Sights and Sounds DLC pack with the Soundtrack download, Dynamic Theme and Joel and Ellie avatars.

*Two different Naughty Dog logo stickers.

*The Game*

I am a huge Naughty Dog Fan. I love Uncharted more than any other game series to date. So I have been eagerly awaiting this game. Basically the only complaint I have heard about this game is it's too short, at around only 12 hours of gameplay. People said the same thing about Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception. I thought it was the perfect length and made for easy replay since it doesn't drag on. If you are like me and have been anxiously awaiting this game, you have undoubtedly been watching gameplay footage for the last year and seen how the controls are fluid and smooth for this third person game just like uncharted. So far, there is the right amount of action, cut scenes, sneaking and exploring, granted I have not gotten very far. The detail, the lighting effects, the music by world famous composer Gustavo Santaolalla (The Motorcycle Diaries, Brokeback Mountain) hits hard and dramatic and is intense. This isn't a typical post-apocalyptic zombie game, this is a survival game (Think Manhunt meets Uncharted meets Resident Evil 4), with the best cinema scenes done in a game that don't take you out of it but drop you even deeper into the perfection that is The Last Of Us, sure to be the Game Of The Year. Most everyone is scoring this game high and saying it is a masterpiece. So far I would agree. The controls are very similar to Uncharted, not too sluggish and the platforming in smoother than Uncharted. There is a lot of profanity which may bother some, and a lot of gore as well. I will update as I get further along in the game. So far, no glitches or frame rate issues or anything to complain about.

*UPDATE 6/16*

I'm nearly 50% complete and don't want to put the controller down. This game is intense, the "clickers" scare the crap outta me. My girlfriend sat and watched me play for nearly 2 hours, she couldn't believe how real everything was. The physics in this game are great, when roaming a half collapsed, tilted building, things roll the direction the building is leaning. The flash light effects are great, the batteries get low and you have to shake the controller to get your flashlight to keep working. The sound design is amazing. So far my only complaint is cycling through weapons is a bit clunky, especially when you're fighting for your life. I've died maybe like 5 times. My girlfriend kept asking me how I knew where to go and what to do, and it's really all due to the amazing level design, everything is so intuitive. Also, there was an autosave glitch day one that Naughty Dog has already fixed with patch 1.01. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Read Best Reviews of The Last of Us: Survival Edition Here

I am going to compose this review in two parts. First: the quality of the Survival Edition (contents, impression of the items, & etc). The second part will pertain to the gameplay itself.

Onward!

Part One:

As mentioned in other reviews, the Survival Edition (which retails at $79.99; although, if you didn't pre-order it, you may not be able to find a copy at that price) comes with a few things that separate it from the standard edition. Three of those things come in the package itself (which is an over-sized version of the game box, designed to accommodate the art book): the hardcover art book, a variant cover of the Dark Horse "The Last of Us" comic book #1, and the game in a steelbox case. The other perks that owners of the Survival Edition (henceforth referred to as SE) obtain come through a special pre-order code. This code allows the gamer to download Playstation Avatars of the two main protagonists, as well as the game's soundtrack. Players need to enter the code through the Playstation Store via their home computer or directly from your PS3.

Impressions:

So far, I am in love with the SE. While the avatars and the soundtrack are nice, the comic and the art book more than make up for the additional cost of the game. The hardbound book is beautiful and has artwork of the various denizens (and heroes) found within the world of The Last of Us. The comic tells a story about the teenage girl (who is pictured on the game box) and gives you a little bit of insight into who she is and how she came to be within Boston. My impression is that the comic was a bit loose in the narrative; I suspect that it is setting up the rest of the plot for the other three comics being released by Dark Horse. While interesting, I feel that the art book is the better bonus of the two.

All-in-all, if you have the extra cash and can afford to pay for the SE, get it. The game is wonderful, and having access to the artwork and a bit of the background story for one of the protagonists is just amazing.

Part Two:

Controls, Music, and Graphics:

The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog Software (home of the acclaimed Uncharted series as well as Jak & Daxter), follows in the footsteps of other Naughty Dog games. That is, The Last of Us (TLoU going forward) is a gorgeous game with an expansive world to explore. The music is simply beautiful and helps so much with the atmosphere; between the gorgeously-rendered environments, amazingly-detailed characters, and an orchestral soundtrack, the game shows the care and passion that the developers at Naughty Dog have. With the weather and day/night effects, the world of TLoU comes alive. Driving rain obscures your vision, darkness envelops you at night, forcing you to use your flashlight to see. Music plays in the background, subtle, rising in a crescendo during tense moments of gameplay. The music is something that you may not always take note of, but you definitely notice whether or not it is missing when the environment is silent.

In regards to the atmosphere, Naughty Dog borrowed from its predecessor, Uncharted. That is not to say that it copied the story or the characters, rather, Naughty Dog used their experience with creating a gorgeous world for the setting of TLoU. Plants have individual leaves, limbs, and flowers. When the wind is blowing, you see them wave in response to the drafts, rustling as they would in real life. During a thunderstorm water cascades in sheets; the lightning briefly illuminates the landscape and thunder rumbles overhead while you are moving through the world in an attempt to find shelter. Shadows change as the lighting source differs; illuminating an object with your flashlight casts different shadows depending upon the angle of the light. Details like this bring the world of TLoU to life, drawing in the player and immersing them in the apocalyptic ruins of Boston, Massachusetts.

Controls within the game are fairly easy to adapt to, yet sometimes I found that manipulating your hand-held item in a frenetic setting can sometimes be frustrating. The game has the controls configured so that you can swap through your inventory by using the D-pad, aiming with L1, shooting/attacking with a weapon is mapped to R1, and using a first aid kit is accomplished by selecting the kit and then holding down the "X" button. Since first aid kits take a few moments to use, you have to make sure that you are safe from attack for the duration of healing yourself. This is where things can get hairy: if you are dealing with a room full of baddies, the AI is such that they will move to any sound that you make. The AI is also smart; they will cry out, alerting other nearby bad guys to your presence and will pursue you for quite a while, going around obstacles and climbing over things (if necessary) to get to you.

While all of this makes for a tense gaming experience, shuffling through your weapons to use a shiv (melee) or finding which type of gun you wish to use can be frustrating. In one instance, shortly after I acquired the revolver, the game prompted me to switch to it from my currently-equipped gun by selecting it with the D-pad and holding down "X". It took me a couple of minutes to accomplish this; I repeatedly followed the directions as shown on the screen but the game did not seem to recognize the command right away. Adding to the irritation is the fact that the game would not allow me to move forward or do any other task until I successfully completed the action. Fortunately, however, the moments when things like this happen are not frequent. As the game progressed I was able to use the hand-held items more fluidly, minimizing my damage from attackers.

Story:

This is where The Last of Us shines. As the title implies, TLoU is about the surviving members of the human race, nearly decimated twenty years prior to the main storyline. The game opens with the protagonist's daughter sleeping on the couch. Soon he walks in, waking her. She stayed out on the couch, even though it was nearly midnight, to give her father his birthday present: a watch. After that it is bedtime: you find yourself controlling the daughter after a mysterious phone call in the middle of the night. You go searching for your father and find the house empty... the television is on the den, and a newscast about some sort of riot is on. It is near your home!

Finally your father runs in the house, slamming the patio door behind him. He tells you to stay inside, away from the windows and doors... and then his crazed neighbor breaks through the glass and charges him. Your father shoots him... to your horror, and then the story takes off.

The basic plot of TLoU is nothing new: an infection by a mysterious disease spread like wildfire through humanity, those afflicted going crazy and attacking others. The disease vector is spores, and indeed, those infected look to have some sort of mushroom-like fungi growing on their skin. Twenty years after that fateful birthday night, you wake up again, only this time you are the father. What remains of society is gathered into zones that are kept under marshal law. Ration cards are the currency of the day; survival is a cruel allusion to the game's title.

Soon you will find yourself on a quest to cure the disease plaguing humanity, joining your partner-in-survival Tess and a strange teenage girl thrust upon you under strange circumstances. Suddenly dodging the curfew and outwitting fellow survivors becomes child's play as you adventure through the decimated world of TLoU.

Overall:

Pros:

1) Engaging story; truly addicting gameplay

2) Excellent camera work

3) Beautiful graphics, music, and sound effects

4) Voiceovers rock!

5) Huge environment to explore

6) AI is very intelligent; the baddies WILL find you and WILL do everything that they can to kill you

7) Simple menu system to create weapons, improve your stats, and to view items collected

8) The art book and comic are beautiful (for those who purchased the Survival Edition)

9) Free online play is you buy a new copy

Cons:

1) There are a few glitches; from "shimmer" with the graphics to the bullets from my rifle repeatedly being ejected from the gun (it is bolt action).... when the gun is strapped to my back

2) Quick-swapping weapons is confusing at first; remembering which combination of buttons to push to swap out guns after using a Molotov cocktail, for instance, can waste precious time until you have acquainted yourself thoroughly with the controls

3) Although rare, if any of your in-game partners cross in front of your character on a narrow path, they will keep trying to get behind you while you try to push forward, resulting in a chopping movement forward

4) Online play costs $9.99 extra if you buy a used edition

I waited anxiously for this title, and I can honestly say that I am glad that I did. The gameplay is fun and challenging; the story is engaging, and the bonuses from the Survival Edition are very much worth it. The Last of Us was one of the most-anticipated titles of the year, and after playing it for the last two days, I can definitely agree. TLoU is a mixture of many genres, with some platforming (à la titles like Assassin's Creed), some stealth (think Metal Gear), and some shooting. You have to survive, and in order to progress in this game, you need to be aware of your environments, your inventory, and your skills. Do you want to go through, guns blazing? Or do you want to toss a bottle to create a distraction so that you can sneak up and shiv a baddie? The choice is yours, and your decision will mean the difference between surviving... and death.
