Have played the MW2 since the day it came out. Just couldn't resist upgrading to the new controller from the Sony feedback. Big problem. The control inputs are very non-linear. In other words it has null zones when you slightly move the sights. Then when the stick is depressed enough, it moves way too much. You end up moving back and forth. The problem gets much worse with some views. The grenade launcher is just almost unusable. It feels like a 1992 PC joystick game. The movement is so ticky I would say it cuts my average kill/loss ratio in half. I played for four hours with it thinking I would adapt, nope. It is just almost impossible to look down the sights and adjust to a long range head shot. There is just not nearly enough control resolution. It goes back tomorrow. Stay with the Sony.

I was hoping I'd find this controller more favorable for playing FPS games since it has concave triggers instead of the convex ones on the DualShock3. They performed ok for me, not really any better or worse. The issue is the analog sticks. E. Henson described the problem perfectly. There is no precision. The sticks have a huge dead zone where no input on the stick will register in the game. When you finally get outside the dead zone it moves too much. This leads to your crosshairs passing right by your target. Another thing that bugged me a little was the responsiveness of the L1 and R1 buttons. I tended to hit the outside parts of these buttons, and when I did that they would not register unless I pressed harder than I normally would. If I focused on hitting the buttons more towards the center lighter presses registered fine. I also would have preferred concave sticks as I feel I have more control over them that way. I played NCAA Football 10 with this as well and playing that felt a little different but not really in a bad way. It worked fine for that. It also doesn't have rumble, which I could care less about, but other people do not like. The controller does have some nice things about it. It fits comfortably in your hand. The rubberized grips are comfortable. It has two buttons on the back you can map to one of three buttons each. R3, SQ, and TR for the right side and L3, X, and O for the left. They work well as alternatives to analog stick presses, but for me the could have been about 1/8 inch closer to the middle, but that's nitpicking. The dongle is nice and small, the size and shape of a flash drive. The lights on the analog stick are actually kind of cool but I never leave them on as they are too bright and distracting. If you are going to use this for an FPS, and since its Modern Warfare 2 branded I imagine you are, I would certainly avoid this controller. I'm not sure if you could do worse since the only other controller I've used is the DS3, which is superior to this. I've gone back to the DS3 for MW2 and will be getting rid of this controller.Buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Wireless Combat Controller for PS3 - Camo Now
I bought this controller for a single reason, and that reason happens to be the worst feature in the controller, but we'll get to that in a minute.what the other reviewers said was true, in a way. My experience with the controller was similar, i think the sticks just have a bit more tension than the regular dualshock 3, its not precision it lacks. The R3 and L3 are actually more responsive than the dualshock, triggers are concave and hace a bigger resistance than the dualshock. D-pad is unresponsive and clumsy. L1 and L2 work only if you press it dead center and hard. and the face buttons get stuck inside the faceplate for a few seconds if you press them hard enough. I actually love the shape, it feels better and relaxed, and the grips do a really good job in keeping your hands dry and on the controller.
Now to the extra "feature" that simply kills this, the combat buttons. It has two extra buttons in the back to remap some face buttons in there, the bad part is the positioning, theyre in a place were your two fingers wont ever be, they just too high, too small and two clumsy to use.
I have been hard on this controller, but for good reason, in actuality i cant go back to the regular dualshock 3, i like the tension and resistence of the triggers in the combat controller, and i actually got used to it enough were i play better with it. the thing is i ignore the combat buttons.
Shape and Comfort: Combat Controller
Triggers: Combat Controller
Sticks: Combat Controller (once you get used to it)
Face Buttons: Dualshock 3
i think if you get used to all the quirks around the controller, youll get a better experience, i certanly have, just buy this if youre committed to learn them well, i think youll like them afeterwads.

Don't be duped into the COD Modern Warfare branding. I love everything about the COD series (except COD 3) but please Stay Away from this controller if at all possible! Every single review for this product is spot on the money. The unresponsive analog control sticks & shoulder buttons that work intermittently are just unacceptable. On top of those problems the "up" function on the directional pad of my controller did not work either. I tried to play a few hours of COD MW2 with this controller but it just doesn't work properly. The biggest appeal for me was the new concave L2 & R2 triggers and mappable buttons on the back of the controller. But after a few hours of sluggish, unresponsive game play I found myself continually going back to my dualshock 3 equipped with PS3 triggers (which work awesome!). The controller's design concept is great, but MadCatz execution in bringing the finished product to the table FAIL!For close to around the same price buy yourself another dualshock and PS3 triggers for the L2 & R2 buttons and you'll be good to go!

I bought this one to play COD MW2 only so I haven't tested it with any other PS3 game and I'm not going to. Well, the device is nicely designed and assembled it doesn't look like a chinese amateurish stuff, it looks solid. So I gave this device 5 stars just after I unpacked it, when it came to play COD MW2 I gave it 1 star.It is simply impossible to use this controller. Joysticks are unresponsive as well as R1-2, L1-2 buttons. Crosshair does not smoothly run across the screen and joysticks have dead zones you move one of them a little and... ...nothing happens! R1-2, L1-2 buttons is another story about this controller you press any of these buttons and wait for about 0.5 seconds for action to be performed on the screen. If you play online shooters you should know that 0.5 seconds lag is enough to not use any controller with such performance.
Honestly I tried a lot to solve these problems and had no success. Keep away from this device, do not waste your money. Sony Dualshock 3 performs just right and this is my choice. Won't buy any of Mad Catz devices any more!
