Good stuff in the box and lots of nice in-game content...
Played the beta and It helped me say goodbye to WoW.
I love the show and how it carries over to the game from the SyFy Series... great concept.
It took TRION a while to get the kinks worked out but for the most part, the game plays great on the PS3. May eventually get in on PC if mods and custom UI's are implimented.
The only thing that sucks about the console version is chat/clan/trading menus are a little confusing to navigate quickly or easily. Other than that... great game.

I passed on pre ordering Defiance as I had Injustice Gods among Us pre ordered at Game stop already and I didn't know much about defiance. I was on psn and happened to run across a video about it (a month after it had already been released), I was impressed and thought it might be a pretty cool game so I decided to look on both Game stop.com and Amazon to see if the collectors and ultimate editions were still available for purchase. the ultimate edition wasn't available at Game stop.com and was waaaaaaay too expensive (ranging from $300.00-$400.00 new, a whole lot more than its original price) from Amazon and sellers on Amazon, the collectors edition however was available on both but surprisingly enough I found it new on Amazon for about $10.00 less than what Game stop was selling it for so I ordered it from Amazon with next day delivery. I could barely contain my excitement waiting for it, when it finally arrived I installed it (which took a while) but once it did Man was I blown away...the game itself is pretty amazing if you ask me the character customization wasn't as deep as say Skyrim but good enough to make my character distinctly my own, the weapon selection is insane as each weapon class has at least one or more sub classes i.e. shotguns has combat shotguns, pump shotguns, and sawed off not to mention an assortment of firing variations; semi auto grenade firing, single shot high damage slugs and more. It is a vast world with other players running around that you can see and hear (if they are chatting unless you mute them) you can help them and they can help you you can team up in groups or join a clan if you want as well as play with your friends online, there are tons of side missions and challenges along with the mainline story ,missions and tv storyline events (events where characters and happenings from the tv show cross over into the game like this past monday 05/13 the character Rinn crossed over and there were missions where you did things for her and fight alongside her) there are lots of enemies, mini bosses, and bosses; mutants, raiders, 99ers, biomen, hellbugs, and hellbug matriarchs/monarchs to name a few. there cehicles are fun to drive and there are different kinds I have 3 different atv's (runners) and a roller so far. I started watching the show as well it's not necessary to enjoy the game but I like it. If any of you have the game or decide to get this game which I highly recommend feel free to send me a friend request on psn my Psn id is TAZZ_DA_MAINIAK.Buy Defiance - Collector's Edition Now
First off, I'll state that I wasn't terribly excited for this game when they first announced it. While I had thought that the idea was genius (merging a TV series with an MMO), what Trion had revealed at the time wasn't looking particularly spectacular. This coming from a Tabula Rasa veteran. So, I love the idea of a sci-fi fpsmmo. However, my impressions of the game has changed drastically over the past month, as they revealed more about both the game and the SyFy series.*The Game Itself*
This review is for the PS3 version only, as that is all I have tested.
Trion's professionalism has proven once again. They had an outstanding release with Rift, and they have proven they can repeat that experience.
Score: 1-10
Graphics: 9
For an MMO, where there can average a pretty high number of players, the graphics blew my mind. They are completely comparable to pretty much any other AAA PS3 game currently on the market. Honestly, I wasn't expecting such a fine tuned game. The world is so incredibly detailed, that it really has you understanding what SyFy is aiming for in the television series. The UI is sleak, minimalist (I love minimalist) and fairly easy to navigate. The only difficulty I had was navigating to the in-game store front, I wish that was a little more intuitive (maybe a separate menu would help). The only drawback for me, was that I wish the cinematics were a little bit better. Had the cut-scenes been slightly better, I would have given this a 10.
Gameplay: 10
Wow! Tabula Rasa, Earthrise, DUST 514, Planetside 2... the list could go on. To me, none of them compare to how fun this game is. There's just so much to do! Heck, I even spent quite a bit of time driving around my pre-order Dodge, because the physics are so well implemented. Now, I listed MMOs, but really I'd say this game could even compete with AAA single-player games in fun factor. Best of all, no subscription fees! The only other decent non-subscription game I can think of is LoTRO.
Things I can't wait for; shadow wars, major arks and the tv series implementation. For those of you that don't know, there will be in-game events that could change the storyline of the television series.
Audio: 8
The soundtrack is incredible. Bear really hit the nail on the head with this one. What he did with the music fits the atmosphere perfectly. However, the sound effects (except UI) could be slightly better, particularly the vehicles. But, I'm a musician and audio engineer, so perhaps I'm a little too judgmental. ;)
Overall, I'd say that this game is a definite buy for sci-fi, mmo and fps fans.
*The Collector's Edition*
I was half expecting a rather cheap product, considering the price. The Blizzard CEs normally contain a lot less, and cost about the same price. But, the CE is absolutely worth buying.
Perhaps the biggest thing for me was the hellbug statue. In fact, that is what I primarily bought the CE for. The statue is very well made, and quite detailed. It's of a hard ABS plastic, with what almost looks like hand-painted detailing (it's that good). The hellbug has a base, but it's not attached to it. So, you can move the statue around the base and pose it how you'd like.
The rest of the items that came in the CE are well made as well. There's a plastic translucent "letter from VBI" that I found to be a pretty cool touch. It sort of gives an intro to why your character is important to the storyline. The art-book is hard-covered and of a really good quality. It also comes with four "DEFI" stickers (which will go on my Range Rover) and a couple of postcards. But, one of the other nice additions was the soundtrack/ bluray bonus disc sleeve. Again, the soundtrack is amazing, and it's not just the soundtrack for the game but also the television series. It sounds like something BT, Neil Davidge or Marty O'Donnell would compose. The bonus Bluray disc I was not expecting. That was a pleasant surprise. It contains behind-the-scenes and making of for both the television series and the game. Well worth watching. The segments on landscape and languages really put into perspective just how epic the television series will be. I personally believe that it's been a while since SyFy has done anything great, with BSG being the most recent. Defiance may very well be the series that brings SyFy out of the rut they were stuck in.

well, let me start off by saying the game runs Very Well
with no framerate drops (though a few audio errors persist)
as I write this they are addressing the Lag/Server Crashes (mainly xbox)
in the beginning of the game you go through an extended tutorial
that gives you a Quad to drive and cinamatic cut scenes with
characters from the show.
after passing the tutorial, you are released into the
wild open world full of LOADS of side quests and a Main quest line that after two solid days I am not even close to reaching the end.
the voice acting is top notch and actually witty at times.
the Arkfalls are one of the Dynamic events in game where
you fight loads of hellbugs/raiders/mutants for various loot and exp.
as you progress you unlock EGO points (essentially Skill Points)
you unlock Active skills and Passive perks, active skills
are Blur, Overcharge, Cloak, and Decoy.
you can mix and match your passive perks by equipping them (UP to NINE!)
and as you gain Ego rating you open More Perk Slots.
there are many vehicles that were not in the beta to drive
so look around Carefully. there is a sweeter ride then the Challenger!
The game runs very smoothly and trion is on the ball
about fixing issues FAST!!!! great Service from them so far.
Overall if you've been looking for A Deep skill system
with the Color Coded loot from Borderlands, a Huge Open World
loads of enemy types etc.
the Dynamic Quests go beyond just the Arkfalls
as you will find random quests as you drive around
that range from freeing ranchers from Bandits to defending
a convoy from Hellbugs and loads more.
enemy types range from little hellbugs to towering several stories tall
then you have raiders, mutants, junkers (think Mini Mech)
Dark Matter (the main enemy though they show up late game)
and more.
the main quest line is thus far linear BUT there are so many side quests
and challenges that I doubt anyone will be bored in a few weeks
most likely this game will last a year or more depending how popular
it is.
This Game is a Must Buy for MMO fans and Third Person Shooters.
it's a blast!
Graphics: 4 out of five stars, very good and smooth, few graphical errors.
Sound: still some audio errors persist otherwise about Avg. 4 stars
Gameplay: controls are spot on though hit detection could use
some debugging but everything controls smoothly and is easy to navigate
5 Stars easily.
Fun: FIVE stars! the game despite it's few remaining flaws is a blast to play
and even more fun with friends to team up with.
Overall: with the Main Game, Shadow Wars (PvsP 64 vs 64)
several 8 on 8 and 16 on 16 Deathmatch modes
and proper FOUR player co-op make this the Best Online game
for the PS3 hands down it's so fun try it and I bet
you'll buy it. it truly is fantastic and a Technical feat!
a FIVE star title that after a month or so of Polish
will be an Epic game to play!
NOTE: the Collectors Edition is really worth it
(if you can still get one) the inventory slots
are a Must Have since expanding inventory in game
cost Bits (bought with Real Money)
the preorder weapons are really fun and not throw away
as I figured they would be.
the CE is really worth the cash considering
you get the Music CD, Art Book, VBI Contract,
Digital Items, Hellbug statue (which is Very Detailed and quite nice.
and if you bought the Ultimate ed. you also get an in game hat,
a real Duffle Bag that is Top Quality and I shall use it!Collectors edition buyer. The game is amazing as a beta tester and playing live. Very fun, you won't regret the purchace
