This game is by far out of the different titled westerns which is very very limited to maybe less than a dozen AWESOME. I can't say enough about this game that would do it justice other than just playing it for yourself is you like western genre themes of any kind. It is open environment so you can travel where ever, when ever and how ever you want without the annoyance of loading screens every 10 minutes. You can explore in this open environment which could take you literal days and possibly weeks to do it if you want to be thorough. The voices are awesome, the wild life is awesome with how you can hunt them and some actually attack you, the side missions are great, the interactive games like poker, black jack, dice, horse shoes, five finger filet and more. The outcome to each action in the game has a different playout each time so the replay value is pretty much unlimited because you can rotate the campaigne mode with being bad or good. Not only is the campaigne mode in general changed from being bad or good you can also rotate each mission or interaction within the campagne meaning that you can keep going back and forth for each mission being good or bad, this is rather interesting. The weapons are superb with how much realism is brought into the game with them and how certain models are less accurate or powerful than others. The soundtrack to this game fits perfectly and seems to meld with each scene like it was actually conducted as an overlay while the musicians were watching the in-game scene. I know I didn't cover all of it but this game to wrap it up can take you literally days, weeks or months to complete it just all based on how you play it. Take your time and explore, if you play any side missions, camp out and hunt or just play the main missions and get it over with. Last thing though, I do have one complaint-the games starts with you as the main character being forced by the law to do certain things that I will not give away but the game also ends in a way I will not give away. So my complaint is I HOPE THEY HAVE A PREQUEL if you will so it explains how he got into the gang after the first game red dead revolver which I do have and before the settings of this one above red dead redemption.

your a cowboy in the wild west, you've got history and ties to a famous band of outlaws and you've got a map nearly the size of the actual wild west to explore, show me where to sign up I hear you say! Good idea, don't waste any more time, buy it! must play.1.you can hunt/fight bears and wild cats
2.the graphics are very very nice
3.you can use tomahawks
4.there's a great plotpressure from the law and outlaw is involved and lots of guns and explosives!
5.there are several crazy old men
6.the feel of the game is great
7.there are lots of side missions, weapons, clothes and upgrades and trading
8.great action and shoot em up with elements of RPG thrown in for good measure
the only negative points are that the map is so massive it's tough to complete everything and trying to play red dead after a good session on call of duty, the controls feel weird!

The game landscape and music are awesome. It's a game you can play leisurely or seriously. I wish they would make a sequel.

If anyone tells you that this is just Grand Theft Auto with horses, they don't know what they're talking about. This is a straight up action-packed spaghetti western. A Wild West Tale of Cowboys. The story is well thought out and highly immersive. You will definitely spend enough time with the characters to really feel for them. The story will have you hanging on the edge of your seat waiting to see where John Marston's adventure will take him next.Graphically, this game is gorgeous. The map is 3 times as large as the last Grand Theft Auto (both are made by Rockstar) and you'll explore all kinds of terrain from deserts, valleys, urban cities, outposts, great plains, prairies, canyons, snow capped mountains...etc in America and Mexico. There are tons of missions, people and animals to which to interact. You will definitely not be bored.
The voice acting and sound effects are superb and dialogue is full of amusing tongue in cheek humor. Gesture and interact with just about everybody in RDR; they all have unique things to say.
The controls are excellent. Its very easy to pull off the right commands. I never felt like the game was too difficult, nor did I feel like it was leading me by the hand the entire time. It just felt right.
If you have a PS3, this is the version of the game to get (much better than the XBOX 360 version) as its on blu-ray and loads much faster. This is a must have game that should be in your game collection.

This was my first western game played on the PS3. It has some fun features like killing or capturing bandits, hunt animals, use a lot of weapons. I like the game although it has repetitive tasks so after some playing hours may became a little boring.Pros:
large area to explore
hunt or be hunted by wild animals

beautiful graphics
fun side missions
Cons:
it gets boring after a while
Overall a must play for every Wild West movies or games fan and even not western enthusiasts will like it.
