Stay away from the Doomsday Edition unless you want the Sharpshooter and Move for another game. I bought the sharpshooter & Move to play Killzone 3 and absolutely loved it. It was so much fun that I couldn't wait for Playstation to release the next Move enabled FPS. This is not it! I will not say it is impossible to play this game with the move, but it is pretty close and not worth the effort. Definately forget about trying to use the sights (in game) on your weapon if you are using the Move because your crosshairs move like you are under water. It is easier to get a headshot if you fire from the hip since it is the only way you can track a moving enemy. Do not buy the sharpshooter and expect to be able to aim perfectly by looking down the sights of the controller. You will spend HOURS trying to get it sighted in correctly and then it will just drift on you anyway. I don't think it was actually made to be accurate, I think it was just a cool way to use your Move controllers.

Another horrible feature with the Move in this game is you can not change the button layout in any way. You are stuck using the L1 to aim and the L2 to throw grenades. The big problem is your finger naturally rests on the L2 button of the Nav controller and you will accidentally hit it quite frequently and waste a lot of grenades. I honestly can not understand why there is no option to at least swap the L1 and L2 buttons. It makes no sense. You can do this in Killzone 3.

After hours and hours of tweaking the move controls I was about to sell this game and take the loss until I decided to see how it played with a DS3 gamepad. After playing with the sluggish Move controller for so long I was absolutely shocked to see how much better the game plays with just a normal controller. Everything is smooth and functions correctly. You can even swap button controls. It made the game so much 100% more enjoyable and now I will keep it for sure. It is a shame that they even tried to call this game Move Compatable. If you already bought this edition try it with Killzone 3 and then you will see what the PS3 Move is really capable of doing.

Ending thoughts...

-The game is definately worth buying and playing. Don't even bother trying to use the PS Move or Sharpshooter with this game. Hopefully they will release a update that will fix all the issues with the Move.

-The PS Move and Sharpshooter do work well, just not with this game. The Sharpshooter will tire you out after a few hours and it will never be accurate. You just have to use it as something to hold your Move controllers and watch your crosshairs instead. Honestly, I returned my Sharpshooter to the store after a few weeks because it was just easier to play without it.

Sorry to mention Killzone 3 so much in this review, but it really is worth playing with the Move.

[Update: Insomniac has released a patch that takes care of the zoom implementation, so I have added another star]

Original review:

The game itself is fun so far, but since this is a review for the sharpshooter gun edition, there are two glaring problems with the sharpshooter:

1.

Zoom -inefficient implementation and a poor zoom key choice, mixing it up with grenade all the time (since they are close and the grenade button is more prominent).

2.

Jump while running is almost impossible due to the jump key mapping to "X" next to the movement joystick.

In both cases, you can't redefine the keys. If a patch is released that takes care of those, I would revise and add stars. As it is now, it takes a lot of fun away from an otherwise solid and enjoyable game.

Edit: Moved from 2 stars to 1 star. After playing the game more, for me it's pretty much unplayable with the move.

Note: This review is completely about the PS Move Sharpshooter in relation to Resistance 3.

I've been a fan of light gun games since the days of Lethal Enforcers, Area 51, Virtua Cop and more. With that, I read about Resistance 3 and the PS Move, bought a PS3 and had my Doomsday Edition set on pre-order. I quickly bought Resistance 1 & 2 and played through them. Boy was I disappointed when I unpacked my Doomsday edition. The PS Move controls are awful for Aim Down Sight controls (ie Zoom In Controls). I would not suggest at all playing this game with the Move. While shooting from the hip works pretty good, the calibration needs a great deal of work. After Aiming Down Sight my calibration seems to get screwed up and pointing at the center of the screen has the cursor then pointing closer to one of the corners.

Aim Down Sight is not like the aiming from hip. When aiming from hip you literally point the sharpshooter where you want to shoot and it'll shoot at that spot which is great. When you try to zoom (Aim Down Sight) and fire, the sharpshooter works more like an Air-Mouse that has absolutely no 1:1 relation. You have to control the rate at which the cross-hairs move by moving your Sharpshooter away from center. That is, you could be aiming at the corner of the screen while the cross-hair turns, wait for it to center on your target, point the sharpshooter back to the center of the screen and fire. It's really not at all an enjoyable experience, you pretty much have to play the entire game shooting from the hip which doesn't pan out so well. I'm not alone in my opinion of the sharpshooter, you need only head to the official Resistance 3 forums to find out about all the complaints of the PS Move and Multiplayer.

The last thing I'd say is that the cross-hairs are way too big and sometimes gets in the way of looking at enemies in the distance, I hope they make an option to customize the reticle in this game.

My guess is they rushed some details of this game in order to compete for a earlier release date to Gears of War 3 on the X360.

This is my first review, and after having spent about 400$ on the PS3, R1, R2 and R3 Doomsday edition I just wanted to warn any others before they jump on this package.

The sharpshooter is, at least at this point, a TOTAL waste of money. Unless they release some sort of patch for the SharpShooter, it's totally unusable. The gun has to be constantly recalibrated, and i mean CONSTANTLY. As in every few minutes. Plus it's awkward to use. Removing the Move controls from the SharpShooter produces a MUCH, MUCH better experience. For whatever reason, outside of the gun, the Move controls don't seem to lose calibration so quickly and playing w/the Move controllers is kinda fun, although very difficult.

Both myself and my brother bought this package. Neither of us had a Move until now. We both, independently had the EXACT same problem w/the Move while in the SharpShooter gun. Constant recalibration while in gun, fine, but awkward while out of gun.

The game itself is AWESOME. Resistance 3 is sooo much fun. TONS of replay value, both in the stand alone game and online. I game i give 5 stars hands down.

Right off the bat I will be honest and say I have not played the game much yet... But that is only because how much of a turn-off playing it with the PS Move was.

And after all, the PS Move is a great part of this bundle, in fact, the reason why I bought this bundle.

PS Move was easy to set up, but I wish they had included at least 1 USB cable to charge the controllers. I may be in the minority, but I only have 1 PS3 controller, this means, I only have 1 USB cable and both Move controllers need to be charged.

This meant charging one at a time and having to wait additional time to play. As I said, I may be in the minority about this, but I'm sure I can't be the only one.

As other reviewers have pointed out, zooming is basically a death sentence, movement is sluggish and odd, and button placement inconvenient without the choice of re-mapping the controller.

I have yet to test Move with another game, but I ran into an issue that I have not been able to confirm whether it's a defective product, or just how Move works with this game...

But, after I calibrate the controller by aiming at the camera and then the corners when instructed, the crosshair remains aligned only for a few seconds of gameplay. After that, the crosshair always displays to the right of where I am aiming. I tried the calibration process more than once, and the only thing left I need to do is test Move with another game. This concerns me though.

The Doomsday Edition itself it's nothing fancy. Just the game, PS Move, and the Sharpshooter bundled together. However, this is a good deal in pricing if you were going to buy all the items separately.

I will try to update my review as further play the game and test Move. But right now, in MY opinion, the Wii, Kinect and Move are just a gimmick. At one point or another I have owned all 3 and they are nothing I cannot live without.
