I'll play (and have played) just about any wrestling game released, so I was excited to see what AAA Lucha Libre was bringing to the table. I didn't expect it to be as robust as the THQ WWE games, but I certainly didn't expect it to be eclipsed by Midway's TNA Impact either. As a matter of fact, the wrestling and overall look is somewhat similar to the Impact game -animations are smooth, if a tad generic, and the action is playable, but mind-numbingly repetitive. It's a vanilla experience all around. Where AAA really fails though is not in the gameplay experience, but the overall package -a small roster, only four slots for created luchadores, limited match modes, and a long, poorly executed story mode.
This is EXACTLY the kind of lackluster niche game that ends up in the discount bin after eight months or so. If you can hold off until then, it's not a bad buy for $20. Otherwise, be warned...It's a basic game that doesn't offer a lot of bang for your buck.

The customization, training episodes and general overall presentation is top notch. A lot of the characters and rings are locked though which is disappointing because so many of the characters are locked at first with only about 7 of them available. If you do not update at first and play, and like I did unlock 2 characters and rings and create a custom character, when you do update, all your progress is for nothing. This is the only PS3 game that can't use the game save after update. Had to start all over and customize a character again. And given such a deep customization system including moves it took a long time, can be quick if you want though, and you can go back and change moves and clothes. Top notch stuff. I like how it shows what moves are when selecting with no loading time really. What I did not like is two things. One is the screen bounce while in the ring. All fighting games do it, but it is annoying and can't be turned off. Second thing I didn't like is the way in which you are stuck on the ground. Can't turn that off either. When you hit the ground you either have to do nothing for 5 or more seconds until you can move and get up, or button mash the X cross button to speed up character stun recovery constantly while your character is on the ground. Button mashing becomes very tedious and annoying so I just layed around until I could move after getting bored with button mashing 20 minutes into the gameplay. So, this game is o.k. and I would give it a 5 star if it didn't have the screen bounce and had an option to turn off that 5 second stun recovery button mash mechanic. Otherwise, gameplay is a little slow but works to make an interesting wrestling environment and the moves are easy and varied. Overall it is cool to great but watch out for that update.

If you're a die hard wrestling videogame fan and youre in between games or waiting for the next WWE title to come out then this will keep you busy for a week or so. Its easy to get a hold of the controls but doesnt flow fluidly as you would like. If youre just in to the WWE/THQ games then maybe this one isnt for you.Read Best Reviews of Lucha Libre Heroes Del Ring Here
Okay first off its not Smackdown Vs Raw 20whatever so, get that outta your head second eventhough its not smackdown vs raw its still fun to play the two best wrestlers in the game are La Parka and Psychosis they both can kick ass some of the entrances of the wrestlers are lame but, some of them are cool too the commentary sucks so my advice is turn it off bottom line its a wrestling game and its suppose to be fun so, on a scale from one to ten one being the worst and ten being the best id give it a seven you may not play it everyday but, you will enjoy it when you do play it!Got the game yesterday, had alot fun with it, it's not WWE or TNA, but it's definetly playable enough to hold my interest for repeated uses. The game mechanics take some getting used to but once you get, you get it. The story mode is decent but I haven't gotten too deep into that yet. CAW is very simplified, I made my 1st edit in under just 10 mins. I hope when you unlock the other luchas, more moves will be added on, because, moveset wise there isn't a whole lot to work with here. BTW, I think the graphics really suit this game, the Luchas themselves, 31 in all, kinda resemble the 80's LJN WWF figures which makes them look unique. The whole roster is made up the most colorful characters you've ever seen. The BGM fits well and I find it's not as annoying as some of the licensed music on the other games(ahem, WWE's SVR). I don't see this as being a game for hardcore wrestling fans of the WWE/TNA ilk. But if you like Lucha Libre and can overlook the lack of tag team options ( it has 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 2 on 1, 3 on 1,ect.) and limited CAW you'll enjoy this game. This is a great game for any wrestling fan who just wants to fun playing a wrestling VG. PS, There is code where you can turn the whole roster into mini wrestlers.
