I'm going to start by saying, all in all.. I really like my fight-pad controller. I've played Street Fighter 4 since release and then moved to Super Street Fighter 4 upon it's release. I consider myself a generally serious SF player, as I play in local tournaments, play on arcade machines, and own a tournament edition joystick controller for the game. I became interested in the fight-pad controller after I purchased the tournament edition joystick ($140). After many months of using the joystick, it just never felt "right" to me. The joystick itself felt too heavy and just generally wasn't what I wanted to use when I played the game. I was hesitant to buy the fight-pad controller, because it is Madcatz brand and inexpensive. Madcatz is a company that makes notoriously HORRIBLE quality products. Ever since the 1990's, they've made copies of official controllers and various video game controllers... all of which usually break in mere days of normal use, don't work upon purchase, or are just complete low quality garbage. I must say, I hate Madcatz as a company and hope that they do end up going out of business. However, this fight-pad controller is a gem among garbage in Madcatz products. I started using it as soon as I received it in the mail and noticed a problem with my d-pad sticking. I ignored it and continued playing for about a week, the d-pad would get stuck maybe once every 4 hours or so, every time that I would play the game. (Once every 4 hours so you know how frequent/likely it was for this to occur) All that I had to do to get it to correct itself was push down with significant force on the d-pad in the opposite direction that it was sticking. I know, it sounds pretty bad so far.. but the good part is yet to come. I play SSF4 quite a bit, usually about 2-8 hours per day.. 5-6 days per week. After the first week of using my controller, the issue with the d-pad sticking went away. I'm writing this review months after I purchased the controller and I haven't had ANY issues with it since the first week that I used it. I assume maybe since it's from the original SF4 release, maybe it just required some breaking in to get all the kinks out from sitting around for a year. This controller does require 2 AA batteries, but to all the people complaining about batteries in their reviews.. how often do you play? As I said, I play quite frequently and usually only change the batteries about once a month.. which isn't bad considering that sometimes I can rack up 40 hours per week on the game.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and do not regret it.. the controller is easy to use and has worked well for me. If you're someone who is tired of using a normal PS3/360 controller or joystick, it would probably be worth giving a try. However, being that it is a Madcatz product.. there is a chance that you may have issues with the controller. I'm lucky that any issues that I had with it went away, but other people may not be so lucky. I was about to return mine, but then fortunately the issue with the d-pad just went away. My advice is, purchase with caution.

comfortable

nicely sized

lightweight

feels sturdy

rubberized grips

fluid d-pad movement

-

not rechargeable (uses 2 AAA)

not bluetooth (comes with usb/ir dongle)

no analog sticks

small/recessed PS, start & select button hard to feel/press

My biggest complaints are the usb/ir dongle taking up another port so it should've been a bluetooth controller. There are no analog sticks but there is a switch to enable the d-pad as the left stick or right stick (but you couldn't use them in any combination together). And not having a built-in rechargeable li-ion battery is a waste. I guess you could use rechargeable AA though.

In the end this is a great SF controller. When configured for SF, the punch and kick buttons are nicely spaced apart so your fingers don't feel crammed together. You can easily pull off sonic booms, shoryoukens, hadoukens, super pile drivers, spinning bird feet, etc.. So it is perfectly suited for SF. But I found it hard to use for Tekken and other games mostly because PS, Select and Start buttons are recessed and hard to find/press. I don't use the turbo buttonnever haveeven back when the NES had it on the ASCII pad. Hahah remember that?

This is an outstanding controller. Very comfortable to hold and all buttons are in easy reach. It is already perfectly set up for use with the Street Fight IV & the default button configuration. Moves requiring quarter, half & full circle movements are incredibly easy do, thanks to the floating digital pad. And they can be done consistently. It comes a with handy Turbo button which makes characters like Chun-Li & E. Honda especially dangerous.

My only problem with the controller & its floating digital pad is that it may be too sensitive sometimes. For characters that require charge attacks or precise up and down movements of the digital pad for combos, the Dualshock 3/Six-axis controller is actually easier to use & more consistent.

If you have PS3 then you already have the standard controller & I highly suggest you try out the Fight Pads to get the most out of this game. It will probably come in handy for other fighting games as well. I fully intend to use this pad on Tekken.

I purchased the Street Fighter 4 Fightpad, for Capcom's latest scam, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. It worked, but even on the first day i played, I noticed technical issues. The controller kept on inputting my commands as down for what ever reason, and the diagonals were not as responsive. Why the hell a fightpad SPECIFICALLY made for fighting games would be wireless, is beyond me. I feel as if the controller could have been spared these troubles if wired. I bought this in May 2011, so I doubt that if they didn't have wired then, they most likely stopped improving the fightpads, and will never make more that are wired. The actual performance was decent, and improved my inputs by a fraction; certainly not worth anything over $20. The floating d-pad sucked for me, and I found my fingers getting stuck in the bulbous creases of the diagonals. The button layout was extremely poor in my opinion. I felt that the buttons should have been left alone, and just a better d-pad. It will take A WHILE to get used to the six button layout. They are so weirdly spaced out, that you will be pressing the wrong commands often. I played for about a week, then gave up, because MVC3 was boring after 2 weeks.

Pros:

Slight better inputs

really cool design

...

Cons:

floating d-pad is too uncomfortable

registers incorrect inputs when not even touching anything from time to time

Spacing of the buttons are awkward

wireless

uses 2 AA batteries

Feels cheaply made

I wasn't expecting to like this controller let alone LOVE it! I use it more than the stock controller now. It has a good feel in my hands and the analog sticks are positioned like a Xbox controller which just makes more sense. The controller is a little more compact but I find that to be beneficial. I have good-sized hands and the fit is perfect. The buttons press well they don't feel clunky or slow. The R2 triggers are very smooth and contoured to the finger so there's no slippage. I was a little turned off by the fact that it uses a USB dongle to connect, but guess what? That dongle plugs into your PC and allows you to use it on your PC games! Not too shabby. You can turn the lights on the controller off if you want or have them flash on when the controller vibrates. I got mine at Sam's Club for $23 which is a great price and unlike a few of the other reviewers, I got the color I wanted. If you need a extra controller, GET THIS!

great replacement for original controller. works great. connects right to your ps3 no problems. the controls are a little different than an original. it also has a usb receiver so it takes up one of your usb slots to use it. but the battery lasts for quite some time. im happy with it. it also comes with a charger cord. the things that i dont like about it is you cannot turn your ps3 system on with it and you also cannot check the battery charge. it just dies when its low. other than that a good buy.

The controller came in on time, but it was broken. The buttons weren't working properly and analog stick kept scrolling everything on the screen downwards. When I purchased the controller, it said it was used, good shape, and that it was working properly. That was a lie. The controller was broken and it wasn't worth the purchase.

It sucked.

This review is based on testing the unit with a 60GB PS3.

At the time I am writing this review Amazon does not have a photo available for this unit, which is a shame because shoppers would be able to see how well the cooling unit joins with the PS3.

Though I have not heard any complaints of a PS3 overheating, the long-term effects are still unknown and I wanted to preserve my investment since the 60GB system (with the PS2 Emotion Engine installed for maximum backward compatibility) has been discontinued. I use the system to play games and watch movies on a regular basis, and after marathon game sessions I have noticed the system has felt fairly warm.

So, I was very pleased to see an almost instant effect from the Pelican cooling unit. Within minutes, the system was noticeably cooler to the touch and though the air coming out of the side vent was still warm, it was considerably cooler. It's worth mentioning that the cooling unit is designed so that two of the four exhaust fans are located on the bottom if you're playing with your system laying flat, therefore for maximum efficiency you should stand your PS3 up and place the cooling fan on top. Nevertheless, the unit does an excellent job of cooling down my system even with two fans blocked.

The cooling system comes with matching trim to blend in with the PS3 and does not need to be attached to the system with screws or hooks. A thin base tab allows the weight of the PS3 to keep the unit in place when laying flat, or the unit can simply be placed on top of an upright system and its own weight will keep it in place. Once setup, the system looks nearly identical as before, only slightly wider/taller.

The cooling system runs on its own AC power, but the temperature monitor is a great additional feature that automatically puts the unit in standby mode once the system has reached a certain temperature. After playing games on the system for nearly two hours, I turned the PS3 off and within three minutes the cooling fans had shutdown as well.

I would deduct a half-star if I could because the unit is not quite "whisper quiet." The fans are louder than the PS3. However, average TV volume is enough to drown out the sound. Not a big deal, and definitely not worth deducting a full star from an otherwise great accessory for the PS3. I would fully recommend this cooling unit to anyone interested in taking an extra step in preserving their PS3 system.

I have not had any cooling problems. I invested in this unit to hopefully keep it that way. It works exactly the way it should. It is not horribly loud. You can hear the fans but there are five extra fans, so you will hear them running. The noise is not obnoxiously loud.

For those of you who have had troubles with the fans not shutting down after use, I feel for you and hope you can either have the unit repaired or replaced. My unit shuts down after the PS3 has be shutdown for 40-minutes...and that is after I have played games for more than 8-hours. I know, I am a game junkie :)

Have a great Holiday!

So I got a PS3 about two months ago. Best system out there.

But a week after use, it crashed due to overheating problems that I've been hearing about.

This usually isn't a problem I don't think, but my room holds in heat pretty well and that probably contributed to the system failure.

In any case, this fan system is awesome.

It's made to look like the actual system, and from a distance you can't tell it apart. Easy to use, no installation, plug in and turn it on.

It also switches on and off depending on the temperature of the system. How awesome is that?!

The only qualm I have about it is that the fan is pretty damn loud when you first start to use it. But after a few weeks, it works it's own kinks out and is now smooth as silk.

Must Buy, MUST BUY.

My 60gb Playstation 3 suffers from either a broken heat sensor, fan or fan control and does not properly cool itself, sometimes the fan will not even be on while the machine is very hot. This leads to it overheating, especially the GPU. Since it is out of warranty my choices were either get it repaired by Sony, buy a replacement (however, the 60gb model has the best features, and those are out of production), fix it myself or buy a cooling solution. I tried to fix it myself but I found no obvious cause to the problem after taking apart my PS3, so I bought this and it has so far done a great job in keeping my PS3 from overheating, and therefore has definitely been worth the purchase cost.

Pros:

*Automatically turns on and off when it's needed.

*Aesthetically matches the PS3

*Keeps my PS3 from overheating, saving me hundreds of dollars.

*Perfectly located near the hottest part of the PS3.

Cons:

*Lit switch on the back is obnoxious. I will probably disable it by hand once this things warranty is out.

*Fat power supply brick cord takes up too much room on power supply.

*Manually adjustable fan control would have been a nice feature in addition to automatic control.

Other:

*Fan noise is more noticeable than my PS3's fan was when it was working, however considering this is an external fan, it's fan noise is pretty solid. One thing to note is that the fan first turns at full blast then moves down to a lower speed. Wait a few minutes before you judge the fan noise.

If you like puzzle games, this is about as good as it gets. There is no other puzzle game like this, and believe me when I say you won't be disappointed. The first Portal game was just an extra; this is a full-length game. The first thing you'll notice is the inclusion of co-op which adds an entirely new layer of fun to the game. Think about what you could do with 2 portals, and imagine how you would complicate the puzzles with 4 portals instead. My friend and I were having an absolute blast trying to figure out just how to position our portals in tandem to set up the solution for these increasingly difficult puzzles. It's challenging and fun at the same time.

There were a few times where we almost gave up, and then the solution suddenly presented itself and we were able to continue. This game is not for anyone who is looking for a relaxing stroll through the Aperture Science Facility. This game WILL test your patience and intellect, and it is significantly more complex than the original game. Don't let that scare you away though, this game is absolutely amazing. New gameplay elements such as funnels, light bridges and gels come alongside the return of the Portal gun and not only do they present some intriguing puzzle designs, but they will test your wit in new ways that surpass even the sharpest minds.

UPDATE: My friend and I have finished the co-op portion of the game and the puzzles spike in difficulty near the end. There are roughly 40 co-op levels in the game, and there are a few trophies to make you come back to a few of the more difficult challenges. The length of the co-op will vary depending on the skill of the player, but my friend and I managed to solve all 40 puzzles in about 11 hours. Some people will say that it takes 5-6, but that's probably on a second or third playthrough. If you've never seen the gameplay elements before, you will have to take some trial and error to figure out how they work before you can think about trying to solve the puzzles.

The single player campaign is excellent, though this also spikes in difficulty pretty significantly about 1/3 of the way through the game, and then again 2/3 of the way through. The game starts off with a quick tutorial, but this game assumes that if you are playing Portal, you already have a pretty good idea of how to think with portals. Some of the puzzles in the middle of the game actually had me turning off my system until the next night, at which point I was able to figure it out in a matter of minutes. One thing that I really love about this game is the fact that it never tells you where you are supposed to go, you have to look around and then figure out how to get there by using everything in your environment. This is ever more evident once you reach a certain point in the game. All of the stops are pulled out and the amount of mind-bending thinking that you have to do borders on insanity. It's never too difficult though, as the solution is always right in front of you. The trick is you have to figure out how to make it happen with varying degrees of complexity. Some puzzles will take you 30 seconds, and others will have you trying things over and over for 30 minutes. All while being incredibly fun the entire time! The single player campaign took me about 15 hours to complete, and I will certainly be playing it again soon.

The voice acting in both single player and co-op is superb, and GLaDOS is even more hilarious than the first time around. It's pretty much a guarantee that you will find the dialog humorous, whether it's listening to GLaDOS telling you that you will fail to solve the next test, or that Wheatley thinks you may have died from a horribly long fall and isn't sure what to do.

The PS3 version of this game also comes with Steam integration and this is a breeze to set up. I managed to log into my Steam account on my PS3 and I was able to see all of my friends and send messages, view achievements, etc. Best part is you can access this all within the game too, and it was very easy to set up. Just type in your name and password, and I was immediately connected. I haven't been able to test out the PC / PS3 playing together yet, but I'll be sure to update my review once I am able to try it out.

UPDATE: Since the PSN has been down since April 20, I have been unable to play online yet. I was quite fortunate to have linked my PSN account to Steam, as players are currently unable to do this right now. When the PSN is restored this game will certainly be received better by the community due to the online portion being completely dead on arrival.

It's been a long time since I've been able to have this much fun with a video game, and one with so much content (apparently Valve is planning on releasing DLC and a map editor for the game to allow creating new levels). The only gripe I have with the game is a lack of challenge maps. One of the best parts of Portal was to see if you could solve the puzzles in the fastest time, fewest steps and fewest number of portals. That is sadly missing from this game, and it would be totally awesome in co-op mode. The story and level design make up for this, but there isn't a whole lot to come back to once you've completed the game. Even still, getting 20-25 hours out of a video game is pretty good for a puzzle game considering the competition these days.

If you're even close to being on the fence about this game, I highly recommend that you give it a shot.

I absolutely adored the initial Portal game. I was worried that Portal 2 could not live up to the first game's groundbreaking gameplay. I'm pleased to report that if anything Portal 2 is even better than the first one!

You pick up with Portal 2 many years after the initial Portal left off. You're the same person being woken up from stasis by a little floating robot. He is trying to save you, but soon enough you are back in the system, solving puzzles, using your portal gun to create in and out portals. Then it gets even more fun. There are new goo substances that let you do even more amazing things. I won't describe them all because half of the fun is discovering what they do and how to use them. Suffice it to say that it brings gameplay to a whole new level.

The humor is simply spectacular. The subtle comments had me laughing out loud the entire way through. The main character is female and I have to wonder if them only really trigger in a female player's brain. I was playing with my boyfriend and some of the sly comments about weight went right over his head, while I was rolling with laughter at the prods that were being made.

The graphics are great, and when you go through the commentary track you realize just how hard the team worked to get everything to look just right. Their attention to detail is impressive.

The voice quality is also spectacular. The slight lilting of one character's voice, the deliberate pauses and emphasis of another these are voice actors who know what they're doing. It really shows when a gaming company finds the perfect person to embody an on screen character.

There's single player and co-op mode. This could be tough for solo players; they'll have to find someone to play with to get through those. I know several people who get massive headaches at watching the physics-mind-bending portal play on the screen so this might not be as easy as it sounds. Still it's well worth tracking down a fellow player to go through those levels with.

Is there a down side? Well, as mentioned, some people just can't handle watching the gameplay because of it's jumping-from-heights, rotating-quickly-in-all-directions style. It simply makes them nauseous. And it's also worth mentioning that some of these puzzles are *challenging*. They're not meant for four year olds to hop through. They require a great deal of logical thought.

But to me that's the beauty of it. It's almost a shame that walkthroughs are so easily available on the web, for people to give up after five minutes and find the solution. The joy of this game is that it trains your brain to find solutions, to seek out the answer to a puzzle by breaking it down into logical steps. In pretty much every case here, you can see *what* you need to do. You just have to figure out *how* you get to that end point. I strongly believe that this logical puzzle solving ability is a superb thing for all of us to get better at, and that Portal 2 is a fantastic way to boost that skill.

Plus it is just SO much fun from start to end.

Once we finished the game we immediately went through the commentary track and it is even more fascinating. So be sure to check that out!

Highly highly recommended.

Portal is back and better than ever! The tests are as mind bending as ever, and they've added new elements, like light bridges and emancipation gates. The graphics are smooth and attractive, but nothing that's going to make your jaw drop. The controls are as simple and effective as the first game. But then, none of that was what worried me. I had no doubt that they would be able to recreate and expand upon the technical aspects of the first game. My concern was whether or not they would manage to capture and continue the personality and sense of humor of the first game. I am very pleased to report that the sequel does not disappoint. The sequel pics up right where the first game left off, and GLaDOS holds a grudge. Her insults, passive aggressive comments, and general malice will have you chuckling throughout the game. Your new companion and guide robot also adds to the character of the game, though he can be a bit heavy handed at times. If you enjoyed the first game, you will love the sequel, both for its expanded challenges, and its unique personality. As long as you enjoy a good puzzle and have a sense of humor, you will never regret this purchase.

I didn't play the first Portal, and bought this one strictly based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and was solving the puzzles in no time. The game commentary that you hear between levels is hilarious and, in my opinion, the best part of the game. This isn't to say that the game itself was not fun, it was. Such a nice departure from a lot of the mindless shooters and sports games that I normally play. Portal 2 does provide a great mental challenge. But after making it through several levels, I couldn't help but get a little bored by the repetitiveness of it all. Granted, new challenges present themselves to inject some variety, but not much.

I appreciated Portal 2 because of how different it was from any of the other PS3 games that I'm used to, and it is by far the funniest game I've ever played. But I couldn't help but think that this felt like a game that I might play on an iPhone or iPad (though obviously with superior graphics). I'm also surprised by the reviewers who suggest that Portal 2 has great replayability. Once you've solved the puzzle, you've solved it. There's no more figuring out to do because you already know how to do it. So, I can't say that I have any desire, whatsoever, to play the game again.

I don't want to make it seem like Portal 2 isn't an enjoyable game, because I did have a good time playing it. I just don't feel it's worth the $60 that it originally sold for, or even the $40 that it's listed for at the moment. It would be a great rental, however.

Want Portal 2 Discount?

Portal 2 is a continuation of the Portal we love but we added touches that make it Valve's best game ever. Harder puzzles coupled with the introduction of Excursion Funnels, Aerial Faith Plates, Thermal Discouragement Beams, Pneumatic Diversity Vents, Repulsion Gel, and Propulsion Gel make soLving a level even more sAtisfying. The graphics are also improveD from Portal 1 alOng with more complex level deSign in the now destroyed Aperture Science facility. I don't want to spoil any of the game but if you played Portal 1, everything will feel very familiar. The PS3 version of the game includes Steam integration so you can play along in co-op mode with PC and use the steam chat feature. Trophies / Achievements are synced with Steam. PS3 buyers get the PC version for free so this is by far the best console version to purchase.

This is the first Ridge Racer game I've ever actually played. It looked pretty interesting from the trailers so I decided to pick it up when a copy finally arrived at my local Best Buy 5 days after it was supposed to be out (Gamestop, Amazon and every other outlet seems to have also gotten the ps3 copies late). The game features destructible environment pieces scattered around the track that can either serve as shortcuts or means to wreck racers surrounding you. If that sounds familiar, it's because it totally is!

First of all, the game is rather frustrating at times. You start out with 1 car available to you and you stand no chance of catching up to any of the AI racers and will see yourself in the bottom 4 until you unlock 1 or 2 more cars. What keeps it from being an annoyingly frustrating game is that it's actually really fun to "frag" other racers. It doesn't really do much to help you overall since the lead car has probably already lapped you though. The biggest problem I seem to have is the controls.

I'm used to Hot Pursuit's excellent drifting controls. This game is much like Blur in the sense that it's much harder to control and often times just pointless. One minute you'll be just fun going to drift around a tight corner and the next you'll find yourself completely turned around (in other words, don't floor it after you drift into the wall and stop for a second). If that doesn't happen, you'll find yourself wrecking often. There's been several instances where I fill my boost/frag gauge up and go to smash through a building and my boost will end 2 ft before the wall and wreck. Also, no matter how much of a lead you think you have, if you wreck, you're going to end up at the end of the pack. You'll also frequently notice the AI rebuilding boost at an incredible rate. To fill your boost meter, you can go really fast, drift, catch a lot of air (it is possible to fill your boost meter from a long distance jump alone), or drafting. There are lots of other in-game perks to doing this stuff as well.

To keep you interested in the single player races, the game has a lot of in-game awards for random things you can do during a race. Things like jump distance, amount of racers fragged, number of objects destroyed, reaching ludicrous speed, and even drafting for long periods of time will net you awards which are the most effective way to earn XP early on since you won't exactly be placing 1st right off the bat. Outside of all of this stuff, the game also offers online multiplayer with a slight twist.

You have your standard racing modes but what's kinda cool about the online component in Unbounded is you can create your own city. It's a very basic track editor but you can create several events across it. What's also pretty cool is to publish it, you have to race on it and while doing so, you will earn xp and various awards. I found this method to be quite useful in not only netting myself some trophies but also leveling up a little faster. You can view and participate in other users cities as well and try to beat their times. It's a cool extra feature you don't see in a lot of racing games. But outside of that, the game really isn't anything super special that you haven't or can't find in another game and to top it off, the online community is almost non-existent and there is NO local split-screen multiplayer. So unless you have a friend with another ps3 and tv in the same room as you, you'll probably just be playing this by yourself.

Overall, this game is cool if you're used to racing games and are looking for a little more of a challenge. Everything this game does is something other games like Split/Second, Burnout: Paradise, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Gran Turismo 5 and Blur do on a better scale. It's certainly not a horrible game by any means but without an online community and sketchy controls, it's hard to recommend it over the other games in the same genre that offer you more bang for your buck (and by now, at a cheaper price point).

I have enjoyed this game a lot, but it is very difficult. I do have experience with arcade racing (previous Ridge Racer game is one of my favorites) but it seems like for Namco, fun means frustration. Seriously, I play games to relax, not to get more stress... that does not mean that I do not like challenging games, but challenging does not mean frustrating.

I will continue playing it, as a matter of fact this game is really fun, but I do not know for how long, since the AI is TOO good (sometimes it feels like it cheats) and if you do not accomplish goals, you cannot unlock new content.

To a large extent, game reviews are extremely subjective. How you feel about a game depends on what you expect in the way of gameplay, and what I dislike might be fun for you.

That said, I dislike this game. I've played all the RR games, and they've gotten better with each iteration. Great graphics, consistent (but completely fake) physics, and lots of speed. This version has lots of speed. Everything else has been replaced with lots of flashing lights and explosions. And major crashy things. So if you like lights, explosions and crashy things, you might really enjoy this game.

And I'm not putting down explosions, flashing lights and crashy things. In some games, that's what I go in looking for. In RR, I go in looking for good clean arcade racing fun, and I didn't get that with this iteration of the game. I hope that next time out of the gate (if they survive this version) they'll get back to more fun, less explosions.

And yes, I miss Reiko. There, I said it.

I have played and reviewed the Xbox version of this game. I originally preordered this game for the PS3 but they cancelled the original PS3 version of the game and this forced me to pick up the Xbox version. Now that the game has finally came out for the PS3 and it included the stand along expansion, I picked it up. This game is well worth getting for people who enjoyed either of the two Risen games or Dragon age. Admittedly, this game is pretty light on story and the voice acting is ATROCIOUS but really that stuff doesn't matter in this kind of game in my opinion. You can read my Xbox review for general information and my feelings about this game. One note, I was surprised to see that this game appears to run a bit better on the PS3 then it did on the Xbox. As I said in my review for that version, the framerate was consistently bad on that version. I would estimate, it was generally around the low 20s. ON the PS3 version, slowdown does not appear to be an issue. You still get plenty of pop-in but at least the game runs smoothly which is nice. Overall a nice pickup for people interested in a pretty good RPG For the PS3. Enjoy

This bag is one of the few that I could find online specifically designed for the PS3 Slim; it may actually be the only one. There are many bags out there that don't say which model it's been made for so instead of taking a risk I went ahead and bought this one, which I was kind of unsure of at the time because it didn't have too many reviews. And the ones out there weren't very in depth. Anyways, like the title of the bag says it is made for the Slim model and it's been kind to me so far. I had to take it for a long plane ride from North to South America and that really was the first test of its use. After worrying for a while, I landed and found my console survived and had been protected very well. The PS3 is firmly secured by two straps that hold it in place and it doesn't budge. The bag is pretty small and light so it's more like a handbag than anything else, barely weighs anything. And it's simple. It's got that one zipper, opens up into two halves, you slide in your PS3, zip it back up, and you're ready to go.

It's not a perfect bag, though. The pictures that advertise it are false. What I mean is that they make it seem like there's a lot more space in the bag on the side where all the games and controllers go than there really are. I was only taking two games with me (in their cases) and I barely managed to fit those in with the two controllers I had as well. I would suggest buying another case to hold all your game discs and leave this side of the bag solely for your controllers and the chords for the console.

Those were my only gripes with the bag. Besides that, I would recommend it to anyone who likes their videogames, travels a lot, and needs their entertainment with them at their destination.

I was skeptical with other bad reviews about this product. After testing it out and putting my PS3 slim in the bag, I'm confident that I've made a good buy. It is a good bag and there are really no other options with the ps3 slim. The only downside is that there aren't a lot of room in the bag. But the main purpose of the bag is to protect the PS3 slim and not hold all your games.

This ps3 bag could be better in one point...the capacity of PS3 games. The visual is ok, so like the straps to hold on the console. Unfortunately just can carry 4 boxes of ps3 games...and its just a pocket without the elastic on the top.

Although its a great way to carry your console without scratch and hit in the suitcase!!But choose only 4 games! Or carry the rest outside of the bag!!

If you're looking for a basic carrying case with a few extra pockets to haul around your PS3, then this case works well for it. It's a lightweight case that's sturdy enough to carry the PS3 Slim in, along with the cords, controllers and a couple games.

However the case is rather thin for holding an expensive piece of gaming hardware. The walls of the case are thinner than I feel comfortable with as anything that knocks against the case comes right into contact with the PS3. The straps inside are also loose and don't tighten very much to provide full lockdown of your console.

But you get what you pay for and this is sufficient enough for carrying around from house to house or small trips. If you're going on a long trip with many stops or bumps, I recommend getting a sturdier case.

Want PS3 Slim Multi Function Carry Bag Discount?

Not a very good case. There is barely any padding. I think they only have a thin flimsy piece of cardboard inside the walls. I tried bending it and the crease stayed in place, yes it is cardboard. There is also no shoulder strap, only short little handles on top which would make it very easy to drop and more difficult to hold long distances (if you're traveling). Not much room for storing items other than the console itself. You could try to put controllers in there but you might have a hard time closing the zipper. I gave it 2 stars only because there are not many other PS3 slim cases out there. For this price, seriously only buy if you're desperate. The lack of padding (cardboard, really CTA??) would be my biggest negative. I only use this for occasional storage in my house since I don't hook up the Xbox and PS3 at the same time.

I am not a hardcore gamer, but I love Soccer video games. When I was using my PS2 (stopped a couple of years ago), I bought into the hype of the Winning Eleven/PES series, and definitely enjoyed the games. Due to the conventional wisdom of the hardcore players out there, I avoided FIFA like the plague. Fast forward to now, and I have a PS3. I was itching to get a Soccer game, and figured I'd skip the '08 editions and wait for the '09 editions. FIFA '09 was released first instead of PES '09, so I jumped on it.

Not having played any recent-generation Soccer games, I can't quite compare it all that much to recent games, but I have been having a ball (no pun intended) playing FIFA '09. Gameplay probably isn't perfect, but it seems great to me. Everything is smooth, no choppiness, graphics are good, and it is simply a fun game to play. Passing, crossing, shooting, etc. are all pretty quick to get the hang of. Of course, I have a lot more work to do to get all of the gameplay down.

Frankly, I am in heaven having all of the big leagues and international teams, with the correct players, kits, etc. What I had to go through to get any level of team/player realism with Winning Eleven on the PS2... (we all know they don't have most of the licenses compared with the FIFA series). With FIFA '09, I can power up, choose Manchester United against AC Milan, and have Rooney, Ronaldo, etc. going up against Pirlo, Nesta, etc. with no issue. La Liga, Premiership, Serie A, and more. I love it.

There are a ton of advanced options and features that I won't go into such as seasons, online, etc., but if you have the time and passion for it, I am sure there is plenty to sink your teeth into with this game.

All in all, I am very pleased with FIFA '09, and have cancelled my preorder for PES '09 for the PS3. Good work EA Sports.

I've been playing FIFA since it first came out in the early '90's. Here in the states, FIFA was always the benchmark for football/soccer games, and it never let down because the games were great and had the whole football/soccer experience. The only or major gripe football/soccer diehards like me had was that you couldn't do player transfers. You had to wait until Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven came to the states. At around the same time that FIFA added the feature of being able to make player transfers, Winning Eleven/PES came to the states. FIFA was still great and maybe still the king, but now it had to compete and deal with the other big "player" in the football/soccer video games genre. FIFA put out some games that were just ok, missing a special something that I can't pinpoint while Winning Eleven/PES was putting out masterpieces until FIFA 2008 and PES 2008. With FIFA 2008, it seems FIFA was starting to get back on track and with 2009 it's back to its old self. I don't know what happened to PES 2008, but I guess they became complacent. PES 2008 was ok or maybe a little less than ok. Being used to Winning Eleven/PES high standards and works of art, I know a lot of us felt let down by PES 2008. FIFA 09 is a masterpiece while there's still room for some little improvement, but even the best video games, the ones that get perfect 10 or almost perfect reviews, have room for improvement. I haven't played every mode, yet, but be a pro and general manager modes are amazing. The way you can create a player and have him play for several seasons trying to accomplish some "goals" set by his team in order to be noticed and called by his national team and to be transfered to the big clubs in Europe is amazing. You can select a last name for your player that is in the data base of last names used by the commentators when calling a match. The graphics are outstanding. You can tell FIFA 2009 is a next generation/HD video game because of the graphics. Being a diehard football/soccer fan, I love both the FIFA and PES/Winning Eleven franchises, but I hope PES 2009 comes all out with all guns blazing because FIFA 2009 already did. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up!

FIFA '09 isn't a game of revolution but evolution. Anyone who played FIFA '08 will be right at home with the interface and graphics of the game but discover changes upon diving deeper into the game.

The graphics remain largely unchanged from FIFA '08. To it's discredit EA hasn't improved visuals in the stadiums and has neglected several larger venues altogether, instead opting for generic backgrounds. I was sorely disappointed to find when playing a huge rivalry match of Barcelona vs. Real Madrid at Camp Nou, the stadium was awash in generic colors. There was the odd red jersey here or there but nothing striking. Disappointing considering this was an issue raised by the fans in the last several FIFA games.

There are positive notes in the graphics department, however. First the "shiny" look of players from FIFA '08 is gone. Player animations have improved and are smoother. Also included for the first time is the ability to control player celebrations with some simple button presses after scoring a goal. Cartwheels, running slides, and more subtle celebrations help immerse the player into the game.

On the gameplay front things are much better. Ball physics are greatly improved over '08 and the ball doesn't feel as magnetic as it once did. To EA's credit the controls are completely customizable so everyone can tune the buttons to their individual preference. I did notice some that on the higher difficulty levels the game can still cheaply score or miraculously tackle the ball every time.

As usual the soundtrack to FIFA offers a unique, wide ranging sampling of music from different corners of the planet. It's always enjoyable discovering new artists first in FIFA and adding their tracks to my iPod. The crowd sound effects remain largely unchanged from '08 which isn't a bad thing. Commentary maintains its high standard as well.

Best of all in '09 is the ability to really manage your team in detail. On the field tactics adjustments are back and don't require a pause in the action. Off the field, fine tuning adjustments can be made to everyone from the build-up to player aggression on offense and defense. It's really a whole new level of player control to FIFA. Another great feature is that fine tuning adjustments can be saved and applied to specific teams. So if you're playing an offensive powerhouse you can load up your more defensive minded tactics and presto, you're set to play!

All in all I am very pleased with FIFA '09. As I stated it's not a revolutionary change from FIFA's past but an incremental improvement. Now if EA would just up the ante on the stadium and crowd effects we'd have a real champ here.

I've been playing FIFA since the mid-90s and this is probably the best edition yet that EA has come out with. Compared to last year's PS3 version, this game has much better gameplay and graphics, especially when it comes to the players. What truly sets 09 apart from previous editions is that the gameplay is much more realistic (including the ball physics)and the passing system is soooooo much better than 08. I was really frustrated by 08's passing, but 09 is great. It takes some practice, but you can really weave together some great passes, little deft touches, one-twos, etc. I also am a really big fan of the custom tactics as well. My favorite team is Inter and I went in and tweaked their formation and tactics and I could really tell a difference. You can play several different variations to keep things fresh. I also like the fact you can edit individual players and their roles within the formation. That was something I had really been hoping EA would add. Kudos to EA for some of the new wrinkles they added and, of course, having all the players and leagues is always great too. Oh, and the soundtrack is great as always.

The only negatives I can come up with is they could stand to add a few more stadiums, there are still some unrealistic aspects that need to be worked out (for instance, defenders being just as quick as attackers), and the graphics for the crowd are pretty subpar. Beyond that, a really great game. I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far and haven't even gotten completely immersed yet.

I am an experinced FIFA 08 player. I have played 09 for 2 weeks now. Unlike most of the reviewers that liked the game, I hated it. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Here are the reasons:

1. More than 50% of the attacks end up with an offside flag. Are there any teams in the real world that use offside trap so effectively? In FIFA 09 all of them can.

2. It is almost impossible to pass a defending player with the ball. All defences are overrated. Meanwhile if you are C. Ronaldo and if you can avoid getting close to the defender you can basically outrun all defences while you are dribbling. OK this guy is good but come on. All Barcelona defenders end up 4 meters behind him while he is running with the ball???

3. The right stick you use for the first touch pushes the ball at least 1 mt away from you. So basically you can not use it like you use it in FIFA 08.

4. It is easier to score with long distance shots which is fine but seems much harder to score with free kicks and corners. I belive FIFA 08 was more realistic in that sense.

5. The graphics are great. But mandatory replays make it a more boring game.

6. While playing you get a feeling like the ball always slides on the pitch as if there is a thin layer of ice on the surface. And ball control is much harder than 08.

7. While you are controlling a player, the other players are too static. For example, Eto is with the ball and Henry and Messi are basically waiting somewhere within the defence. No runs etc.

8. I can not find out how to touch the ball while it passes so close to one of my players that I am not controlling at the time being.

Basically all controls are the same with FIFA 08, but dont let this fool you. The game experience is totally different. And interestingly FIFA 08 experience may be an advantage in certain situations but in many other positions it is a disadvantage. Because defenders will get the ball from you in 90% of the cases that you would be able to pass them in FIFA 08.

I do not want to judge too quickly but if there is something I am missing with controls, tricks etc please let me know.

I purchased these so my father and I can play House of the Dead on the PS Move. We had House of the Dead I on the PC and always enjoying play HotD either on the PS and at arcades where you used those guns and this really recreated the look and feel of all those awesome memories that we had.

Great, sturdy, and decent feel. Though, the orange one isn't as secure when it locks in and does open at times, but for the money they are amazing. CTA appears to make decent equipment. Since the purchase of these guns I have also purchased a CTA golf club and CTA tennis racket and can't wait to see how amazing those are!

Thanks CTA for allowing a father and son to relive some great memories for a valuable price!

Mk2 is certainly a whole lot different from the original, in large part due to its M rating, completely redone battle system, 3D models to replace animated 2D ones during story sequences, more content, more endings, and generally, a lot more stuff.

Mk2 can be summed up very quickly to compare to its predecessor, as both are founded on the same premise: A metaphor for the console war between Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, along with the ever-increasing threat of piracy from Arfoire (get it? R4?). The game was designed to be totally off-the-wall. The original was very entertaining in that the writing was superb, and very funny, constantly jabbing at parts of the video game industry combined with a multitude of breaks with the fourth wall, with the characters essentially knowing they're part of an RPG. You played not really for the fights or even the main story as much as you wanted to see whatever they could come up with next to parody, as they touched on virtually everything in the game industry. The whole thing was about humor, and to some extent, fanservice and flash. It was T-rated fanservice, sure, but it was fun, and the battle system, while very simple, was well-crafted and left room for creativity.

Mk2 is kind of like the original to the power of three. This game takes the original premise and runs the whole field with it. The opening sequence alone shows you why this game has an M rating, with less-than-subtle erotic animation of the scantily-clad CPUs in erotic bondage poses, complete with Gainax boob-bouncing and some extreme sexual innuendo.

Oh, yeah, about that sexual innuendo. I'll say it right out: A *lot* of it has to do with lolis, and there is no ambiguity about that whatsoever. You'll even find quests in which your job is to find ingredients for a team to make potions that will create, and this is a quote from the game itself, "lolis with big knockers". While the original kept its T rating intact, Mk2 throws all pretense out, complete with borderline-illegal loli fanservice. They don't even try to cover up that it's loli by saying they're older than they really look, which is what developers often do. One of the main villains is obsessed with Lowee's (the Wii's area) two CPU Candidates, Ram and Rom, who are two very small, young girls, one being exceptionally shy and timid, the other a little less so.

And when I say this particular villain is obsessed with these two lolis, I mean he flat-out says he wants to molest, lick, play with sexually, and possibly rape them. There's even a reference to his being a "cunning linguist", and he states clearly that he doesn't accept anyone who is past puberty. Further, some of this he even does, clearly getting off on it while the two girls are sickened. He raves nonstop of his completely unrestrained pedophilia, which isn't the slightest bit censored (hello, M rating!).

Oh, and here's icing on the cake about Ram and Rom: One of the endings involves an event that I literally didn't think they would go through with. I thought there had to be some way to get around what they were insinuating what was going to happen to both of them. I thought that to show that kind of thing was simply illegal. Apparently not, since the entire scene plays out without holding back in the slightest. It *will* make you at least a little uneasy as it plays out, especially because this particular scene does not involve any humor whatsoever, but tragedy and horror--it's meant to stir your emotions in ways almost all media doesn't dare. This particular tragedy is something I thought could not be shown in video games, or practically any type of media. I was floored that they went through with the scene, and further floored *when things just keep getting worse when you think they can't possibly get any worse*.

One major drawback that immediately turned me off was that the amount of voice acting has diminished very significantly. While they thankfully brought back all the VAs from the previous game, who all did a spectacular job in their roles, it seems random as to what scenes get voiced or not. Many scenes, even critical story scenes, do not have voice-overs, which is downright puzzling, and it definitely detracts from the scenes. The original included nearly every story sequence having voice acting, but here, even story sequences often don't get any. It's pretty lame. Still, the quality's there.

In terms of humor, you can tell it's not quite as inspired as the first. It has its moments, for sure, and it gets a lot of those moments by pushing the boundaries. Sometimes it even goes for very dark humor. There's about five times as much sexual humor, but it's done in a way in which the characters on-screen are typically unhappy to be shown on your television screen that way, with several sequences where the fourth wall is broken--not only is it broken, but another character announces that things must be getting bad, because the fourth wall was just broken, as she announces. The original generally had better writing, in no small part because Neptune was designed to be humorous, but our CPU Candidate here, the main character Nepgear, has no sense of humor at all, and most jokes are at her expense. But it still doesn't work the way Neptune really drove the story for us in the original, and Nepgear isn't as entertaining as Neptune was.

This is, however, mostly a typical RPG, and you may need to grind as well as farm to complete quests. There are two types of quests outside of the story, and two only: Collect a certain number of items, or defeat a particular enemy or enemies. Drop rates do apply, so you may slay five of the enemy who have a chance of dropping the item you need, and yet still, sometimes none will drop at all. Most mechanics in the game are typical RPG-fare, although it's still done well. It's great that enemies are visible on the map, so you can dodge as many as you want, should you choose to, which is particularly helpful if all you're doing is going around gathering herbs or something, or looking for a very specific enemy. The combat system, while more entertaining than the first, isn't quite right in that the transformations are now totally worthless, their cost far outweighing the benefits involved. Costing a whopping 100 SP to transform at all with a serious drain on the gauge every turn you're transformed, you're almost always better off spending it on a special move in your normal form. The only time you can really use your transformations is if you've saved up SP in a single dungeon before a boss fight, but even then, at some point in the game you will acquire a skill that involves all four party members doing a team move that will almost always be a one-hit kill or very close to one, even for late-game bosses. If you combine this skill with the True Goddess Aegis item that removes the damage cap to above 9999, the damage is often around 30,000 per hit...for 15 hits every time you use this skill, which will be instantaneous death to any enemy you come across, bar none. It's a sure-fire way to win any fight if you prepare ahead of time with 100 SP to spare for all of your characters at the beginning of every fight.

I think I've touched on the most important parts: Fanservice in this game has gone to level 11, warranting very well its M rating, particularly with the clearly pedophilic recurring side-antagonist openly sexually harassing and sometimes abusing the two youngest CPU Candidates, Ram and Rom, who look to be maybe nine or ten years old each. The game pushes its concept even further than the first, although not always with success, as it's just not quite as funny.

One final note I'd like to make is that the developers has included a somewhat difficult-to-obtain and surprisingly lengthy bonus chapter immediately before the final boss. This chapter isn't exactly difficult to unlock since the conditions are fairly straightforward, and you can even wait until almost the very end of the game to meet the requirements, but it's definitely time-consuming, and if you're not going for it, there's no way you'll accidentally get it. However, know that if you choose to unlock this new chapter, get ready for a complete and total 180 in the mood. What was once a game based in humor is now based in raw, unrestrained tragedy, one that does not follow the rules of this kind of thing. The game will suddenly become horrifically dark, and words can't describe the sheer shock value of some of the things that happen during this replacement ending chapter. To describe it without spoilers is impossible, since the entire story suddenly takes a new turn, and any mention of any event, even hinting at it, would spoil it. Let's just say you're in for a hell of a depressing ending beyond all measure should you choose this route. We're talking witnessing children suffering violently (complete with English voice-overs that somehow make it worse, considering the manga theme), suicide, forced murder, mass murder, one particular character smiling and asking you to kill her (considering the importance of this character and how familiar you are with her and her story by now, this scene is just shocking), cries for help that only end in slow, drawn-out tragedy, and plenty more you simply will not expect in a million years in a game like this. The scene when a particular character takes you outside to make pleasant small talk while you're already in a traumatized state from the events unfolding, and then casually smiles and asks you to kill her so she doesn't have to do it herself, along with everything that follows, will blow your mind to hell and back.

So, there you go. It's worth it, for sure, if the premise interests you, no question. It tops the first in almost all aspects, and is an excellent successor.

So far I've played roughly 30 hours of this game and I *think* I'm close to some kind of conclusion. Anyway, to give you the gist of it, this game is basically Hyperdimension Neptunia mk1 with literally every single aspect of the game improved.

-The somewhat static dialogue artwork has been replaced by animated 3d models.

-The music is much more varied and upbeat with strong ties to BG music in a typical upbeat anime series.

-The variety of items both useful and cosmetic you can purchase are staggering and they introduced a new item creation system.

-The number of characters you can play and control is greatly increased.

-The camera control in dungeons and graphics of dungeons and enemies in general are way improved.

-The battle system now involves roaming instead of cookie cutter turn based play. Character positioning on the battlefield matters a lot because you can fall victim to AOE or deal out your own AOE damage to groups of enemies.

-World map navigation which was a pain in the ass in the first game is now fast and easy. All locations are available from the world map and you no longer need to do tedious teleportations.

Other than these I have listed there are a ton more. If this is your first look at a Hyperdimension game, you will still enjoy it. You need not play the first game as the story between game 1 and game 2 are unrelated. At its core H. N. mk2 is a game centered around cute girls doing cute things and blowing up enemies along the way. If you enjoy gearing out and building up characters in an RPG and seeing them destroy enemies you will like this game. If you enjoy moe girls, that will also contribute to your enjoyment of this game.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes JRPG's and has been somewhat disappointed by the offerings this generation. I'd rank my enjoyment of this game above the Atelier games (Rorona/Totori) and slightly below Tales of Vesperia. It's best that you don't take this too seriously and just enjoy it. The gameplay is FUN and the characters are cute, just don't expect some Oscar-winning plot.

What turned me off from the first Hyperdimension Neptunia was the DLC that gave you access to the other party members you meet in-game. Mk2 immediately rectifies this with a party of, to my understanding, almost 20 characters (with two additional characters that are truly optional DLC, as you aren't pressured to buy them in order to build up a proper team). Believe you me, I still bought the first game for collective purposes; niche games have a tendency to go out of print shortly after their release date. So far, this game hasn't gone out of print, so I have high hopes that this will get into the hands of the people who want it.

This isn't a game that is meant for the mainstream audience that is looking for the next Triple-A hit, or something that can supplement them between said hits. As a niche Japanese game that is a parody on the modern video game industry, Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 takes the liberty of going all out in everything it does; whether it be characterization, voice acting, jokes/puns, and even special attacks (one attack has you wielding Keiji Inafune himself as a weapon of mass destruction. Hilarity ensues).

The gameplay is something similar to Sakura Wars V: So Long, My Love. You build a party of four characters (and four other characters behind them to be of use later), and each turn you move your character around in their allotted space before performing an action. Turn order is shown in the upper right corner of the screen, so you can plan your turns accordingly. Since you are not able to change the difficulty of the game, the concept of level grinding comes into play if you don't want your ass handed to you by a multi-encounter boss battle with no healing in between (which happens early enough in the game that I couldn't help but rage). Speaking of healing, the first game had you collect items around the dungeon in order for your characters to heal whenever they felt like it; with the new battle system, you can use one of your party members (say, Compa) to use their healing skills whenever it benefits you the most no percentage manipulation required. Also, the shares between the CPUs are actually explained, so even the newcomers to this crazy game can manipulate them to their hearts content through Guild Quests in order to obtain their CPU of choice.

Remember those characters you set up in the back of your party? Here's how they can be of use: with the Lily system, two characters form relationships with each other in a similar fashion to social links in the Persona series. With a high enough score, those two characters can be able to perform strong combination attacks that could potentially turn the tide of a battle (along with providing a few saucy scenes along the way). To my understanding, multiple relationships can be forged, and many saucy scenes are able to be witnessed.

On the topic of saucy scenes, I must ask once more to keep in mind the audience of this game. This is not for your run of the mill gamer who thinks the latest Call of Duty is a godsend to the gaming industry; this game is for the people who enjoy the outrageous concepts that Japanese developers are able to come up with. This is a game of extensive fanservice, and waifus from here to tuesday if you don't know what the word 'waifu' means (or you do and it doesn't appeal to you in the slightest), this game is obviously not for you.

We don't play this game for the story, heavens no; we play this game for the all-girl heroine cast providing fanservice and Japanese humor about the modern world of Video Games, just like the first game (no matter how terrible the combat system). If none of this appeals to you, then this game probably is not for you and you can go about your day. Don't take this game too seriously, as it's not meant to be taken serious in the slightest. Just grab your caffeinated beverage of choice, pick your waifu, and enjoy this wonderful ride in the parody world known as Gamindustri. I know I will.

Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 is the sequel to 2010's Hyperdimension Neptunia (oddly enough) and is an odd blend of RPG and sexy anime action with a little bit of old school console gaming tossed in. The storyline is a continuation of the first game which I admit to not having played although I didn't feel it hindered being able to jump right into this one. You have to come to the rescue of the land of Gamindustri (okay, say it with me Game Industry) and save the CPUs (Console patron Units) from the evil group known as ASIC (Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime). Ya...there's a lot of that kind of stuff in the game. But at its core it's a nice little smirkish take on the gaming industry as a whole so I give credit to the developers Compile Heart and Idea Factory, and the publisher NIS America for employing a good sense of humor about the whole affair.

IF and Compa arrive in Gamindustri to find Neptune . IF represents Idea Factory while Compa represents Compile Heart. With me so far? They manage to free Nepgear and together they must locate the mascots of the landmasses, who can provide the power to assit the captive CPUs. They, along with the other CPU candidates eventually join Nepgear's party, and together attempt to free the captive CPUs. Silliness of the plot aside, and it is seriously silly but also a lot of fun, HN MK2 is an interesting little hybrid RPG.

You move about the world through an old-style map that might take you back to the days of the original NES system, visiting various cities and exploring dungeons. Cities are where you can buy and sell weapons, armor, and items for any character in your party. As you progress through the game, even more items become available which can aid your characters in a variety of important ways such as increasing your defenses, attacks, HP, movement. I was surprised at the level of item options that were available.

Chirper (a play on Twitter) is your communications system. This basically allows you to listen in on conversation between NPCs. These can often be pretty mundane and tend to slow the game down but it's a necessary evil to discover random events that can help your party. Guilds are located in each town that offer quests for the party that involve actions like defeating a certain monster or foe or collecting items. Successfully completing the quest nets you a reward.

The combat system is also an ode to RPGs of days gone by. First of all combat is turn-based. Yep you head me right, turn-based RPG combat. Told you it was old school! When its your turn your party members can move about the area up to the max of the movement points or perform a range of varied attacks. These take the form of combo attacks that are performed with different button presses, attacks that can reduce the opponents guard meter, as well as finishing attacks. On top of that, characters also have an SP gauge, which increases whenever they deal or take damage as well as when they end their turn. SP is used to activate special skills, such as healing spells and damaging techniques. Combat is a lot of fun although quite easy. Honestly the challenge is minor league at best.

HN MK2 excels in its cartoon/Anime style graphics. The game definitely earns an M rating with its skimpy costumes and highly suggestive comments, but it's all more cutesy and mature when it comes right down to it. This isn't a game for everyone but certainly if you're an Anime fan or fan of RPGs from days long past, Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 can offer a solid 20 30 hours of gameplay.
