I felt like I had to write this review because of the extreme negativity of the previous review. I love College Hoops 2k7. While I haven't played the XBox version, I've played a number of PS2 college basketball games, and this has the best gameplay. I particularly like the free-throw system. It's similar to what they've attempted to do in previous years with the analog stick, but it's much easier to control. It is more difficult to get free throws on the hardest difficulty levels, but I still average 70-80%, which is a realistic free throw percentage. My biggest complaint is that there is not a terrible difference in difficulty levels. On the lowest levels you can essentially steal every inbounds pass, and even on the hardest it is not difficult to steal inbounds passes. It's nice that you can, but it's a little too easy. For a more in-depth review I recommend any of the usual sources (Gamespot, IGN, etc.), but I wanted to post this to say that I and my roommates thoroughly enjoy this game.

The game is just Okay in my opinion. If there would have been more and better dunks I would have given it a higher score, other than that it is a great game, 2K is the best when it comes to sports games. If anyone is looking for a sports game I will probably always recommend 2K sports because they have never disappointed me and I have been playing 2K games ever since NBA 2K for the Dreamcast.

While I am not a HUGE basketball game fan, this game is quite immersive and a blast to play.

The game is impressive for going on being 5 yrs old, visually as well as the overall depth of the game. Also, in typical Amazon.com fashion, the product was delivered punctually; and in new, unopened condition. For the cost, its a great addition to your game library if you do not own a college basketball game.

This is the greatest college basketball game I have seen around. I just got it a few weeks ago, and it's hard for me to put down once I start playing. The gameplay/controls are reasonably easy, much like any other PS3 sports game/basketball game. They did a tremendous job getting the actual player names, coaches, and arenas for most of the NCAA conferences. Being born and raised near Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, this gave me chills when I heard the chanting and saw all the black and gold. Gave me the feeling of being back at an Iowa game right away. The ability to play rivalries and conference games is great. With the price this is going for now online, it is a must have, even though the names are out of date. Pick this up now!!!

It's kind of hard for me to review this game because there are so many things I like about it, but a handful of things that make me shake my head and wonder what Ubisoft was thinking. In my opinion this is the third best Prince game out of the five that start with the Sands of Time game. The Sands of Time is still my favorite(I wish they would make a reboot of that one graphically) followed by The Warrior Within, then the last Prince of Persia on the PS3, lastly The Two Thrones. So, what to start with... the good or the bad... let's get the bad out of the way.

Graphics: Come on Ubisoft! This is 2010, not 2005! The graphics on Forgotten Sands should have been much better with the technology that is available today. Ubisoft is capable of making beautiful games. I'm not sure what happened here. It's not terrible, but it is below par for action/adventure games of this day and age. What this game needs graphically is a nice polish. It some levels it is graphically beautiful and in others it's kind dull and pitiful. It's not a huge disappoinment and it doesn't detract a whole lot from the game, but it is something that needs to be noted.

Story: It's pretty much the same kind of story that took place within The Sands of Time game. I loved the story in that game, but the problem here is it's been done before. Couldn't they come up with something a bit more original. Again, it's not a huge disappointment and it probably won't detract away from the fun you're going to have playing it, but it might was well not even have a story. I found myself not really paying much attention to it.

Gameplay: First, let me say the Prince, as in the other Prince games, moves with acrobatic grace. However, that doesn't help the combat system. The fighting moves seem sluggish and uninspired at times. The enemies you fight for the first good portion of the game(probably the first half or so) are dumber than rocks as far as a.i.(no, I don't mean Allen Iverson either LOL) is concerned. I mean seriously none of the low level enemies have any kind of finding strategy. Yes, the screen will fill up with 20-25 enemies at a time, but you never really feel like you're in any serious danger, and that's not b/c the Prince is a complete badass. I think Ubisoft could have learned something from God of War 3's combat system. All is not lost, though because the later enemies do provide a rather robust challenge. Thankfully it's not overly challenging.

On to the good stuff...

Gameplay, again: Yes, a big portion of the gameplay is awesome. The Prince's magic attacks are awesome and a whole lot of fun wiping enemies out with. The whole climbing and wall running is just as much a blast as before. It can get quite challenging, and even frustating at times, later on the game when you have to combine different powers to get through a certain level/portion of the game. Being able to freeze water and climb up it is challenging, without being overly so, and fun. Timing and stringing together your powers to further your progress is a big part of what makes Forgotten Sands so much fun.

Rewind Time: It was kind of crappy in the last Prince game when you had unlimited rewind time. I think it took away a lot of the challenge that the game offered. Not so, in this game. You can rewind, once your rewind bar is maxed out, about 5 times or so. This adds more challenge to the game without it becoming frustating. Don't mistake me that there isn't parts in this game that will frustate you. There are sections were you may have to attempt to climb something or do a combo power sequence X (i.e. 7 or 8) number of times. Fortunately the fun and challenging parts far outweigh the frustating parts.

Music: I love the music in Forgoteen Sands. Possibly the best in the series. It has a real Arabian feel to it and the mood of it fits every level perfectly. It's probably one of things, besides all the climbing and wall-running, that kept me glued to the game from beginning to end. Excellent musical score, but somewhat shoddy graphics. It makes no sense.

Length: It's rather meaty quest. I'm not sure how long it took me to go through it, but if I had to guess I'd say in the neighorhood of 12-15 hours. I got this about 3 p.m. CST yesterday(starting playing immediatly) and just finished it a few hours ago. I actually liked the ending and I hope they continue with this new direction for the Prince. I won't give anything away about the ending, but I think you'll be satisfied with it.

Fun: Oh yeah! It's a helluva lot fun, even taking into account the missteps that Ubisoft made. I'm kind of burnt out on it right now, but I definitely see myself going through it again with this Prince. The bottom line is you're going to have a fun adventure with the Prince as wall climb/run and fight through hordes of enemies to save the day. For some this may be a rental only, but if you're a diehard Prince of Persia fan(like me) or big fan of action/adventure game(me, too) then I'd say it's safe to add this to you're collection. Despite a few missteps, it's still a awesome game loaded with fun!

I give Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands 4.5 stars or a 9 out of 10 for fun factor and 4.25 stars or an 8.5 out of 10 overall. I had a blast with it I think you will, too!

I'm a big fan of the Prince of Persia series, so this game was highly anticipated for me. I bought it on street date and played for about six hours. The next day, I finished it in another 4 hours. Needless to say, I was a bit surprised that the game was so short. I played the two challenge arenas and beat them both in an hour. I repeated playing the "waves of enemies" level until I got my character leveled all the way up. I was curious if I could play through the game with all the abilities unlockedno dice. You can only have one save game and there is no level select after you finish to try to get trophies that you missed. Basically there is no replay value.

The story is ho hum. His brother is slowly turning into an all-powerful monster and you know that's who'll you be fighting. The graphics look great sometimes, but more often they look like a polished ps2 game. The camera gets locked into bad positions that hinder you from solving puzzles and hurts you during combat. The combat is very repetitive and button-mashey. Did I mention the puzzles aren't very hard?

There are some positives. I will always enjoy running on walls and leaping all over the place as you do in the other games. Two new elements are added to the prince's powers that jazz-up the platforming in a very rewarding way. I also like that they got rid of the "balancing your character on ledges and beams" mechanic that has been tired since Tony Hawk.

If you're a fan of the series or just curious, do your wallet a favor and wait until this game is $30 or less. Otherwise you may be trading this back to Amazon like I will.

From the opening scenes these graphics look straight out of the movies. So far the prince has been trying to catch up w/ his brother in his fathers castle. It is the typical PoP type of stuff with lots of wall running and acrobatics. The swinging leaps from bar to bar look incredible and the controls are great.

Swordplay and enemy fighting seems pretty basic with options to kick, stab or hold a button down for large attacks. The sound is incredible and save icon seems to appear often. I will update this as I go along in the game. So far lots of fun, smooth controls, great graphics & sound with lots happening around you.

Lots of classic themes that you've come to love w/ the poP series timed doorways, lethal traps, retractable spiked floors, problem/puzzle solving and finding hidden treasures to upgrade items at your choosing (health, rewind time, sword power and unlockables). The freezing of water is way cool and really makes you think about how to get through certain areas. There is also another Dharkara (sp?) type of creature following you around the outside at times. The only thing missing i've noticed is the slowing down of time option. The prince possibly could of used a few more detailed features on his charcter but the game surroundings make up for it I think. Your blue and red power up orbs seem to be at random so it makes gameplay a bit more interesting as far as recovery goes.

BTW the version I have came with an exclusive Sandwraith skin and it looks like you may be able to unlock a skin of Enzio from Assassin's Creed later in the game. Has a UPlay option in the game where certain happenings get you certain points to use later on as upgrades.

Prince of Persia's rebooted franchise has established a very familiar formula at this point. Put a kingdom in peril, insert the prince, make him jump ,roll, dodge, leap and parkour about, whilst fighting baddies then the stir in a great narrative and epic final battle. The result is usually a stunning game which will keep you enthralled for hours.

The Forgotten Sands is no exception, although I felt that it plays it too safe. This is the old prince and game play style you may remember from previous games and I think fans of the series will enjoy this "episode" short as it is.

Graphics This is a great looking game. The palace is remarkably detailed from giant tapestries and minuets to detailed stonework and gorgeous water effects. One could easily overlook the care that went into the backgrounds and models as they blast through the levels . Maliq and side characters also look spot on. And from an animations standpoint the Prince is too. Every detail of his movement is lifelike and well executed.

That said, the prince apparently visited Janice Dickenson' s plastic surgeon. Not sure what happened here but he looks like a different.....and much uglier dude. Now of course this may be partly the fact that he is in "HD next gen" for the first time. Thankfully, the voice is familiar and you will probably forget this minor snafu early on. Besides, you spend more time looking at the back of his head than his ugly mug anyways.

Audio-

This game sounds great, but the really star of the show is the music..which really makes many dull moments come to life and it certainly stands up to rest of the series. Epic music-thumbs up there

Controls-

Right off the bat you already know these controls if you have played a POP game which a few exceptions.

1. I had to invert the Y axis in the menunot sure but I could have sworn that this setting was default on previous gamesno biggie-

2. You will be using allot of shoulder buttons later in game. Your hands will cramp up so get the tiger balm ready and give your digits a break after a while.

GameplayWell its very standard POP The game incorporates a few new moves and new mechanics. The core of which is freezing water, well freezing is not really correct. You make water solid, so it's like freezing minus the cold. This mechanic is great because it offers some challenging new puzzles where you have to time the freezing , on and off to get through one waterfall than jump to another etc. There are a few other new mechanics but this one is the most frequently used.

Combat-

The combat is an issue, I can see that they wanted to streamline and simplify it however I think they over simplified it. The enemies are a total pushover.Sometimes they just stand there waiting for you to cut them down while holding their swords likes they are about swing but first they want to give YOU a chance to kill them....???? W T H ?

The addition of powers like the fire trail and freeze blast thing makes this WAY TOO EASY. Combat is almost an annoyance in this game and certainly takes backseat to platforming. Which is OK,...but Warrior Within was able to balance this and I don't see why they chose to go the opposite way here. I prefer the deeper combat system and I question this choice by the developers .

AlsoI couldn't help but notice that all the mid-bosses are all the exact same enemy...roll away let him hit the wall the slice his ankles, jump on him stab him and repeatIncluding the Efreet-

wow talk about lazy, if there had been more diversity this may have salvaged the combat a bit.

One last thing on game play; I thought the boss fight in the last game was WAY TOO HARD.....this game it was quite the opposite.....in fact I cant recall a recent game where the final boss was such a push over.

Story-

The story is pretty straightforward and has very few twist turns or anything interesting to it that would actually make me care. The only dynamic is the whole "Brothers" thing and even that falls flat. It almost seems like the story was an after thought.

This is a shame because in my opinion it's the games biggest issue. The thing that made "The Sands of Time" a great game was the AMAZING narrative . It was as if a story from Arabian Nights had come to life and put YOU right in the middle as the hero. This series is built on a great character and great storytelling but sadly here it really fails to sweep you up. This is a minor "Episode" of the princes life and rather mediocre one at that.

Conclusion-

This is not a bad game, it just suffers from a few minor issues and a mediocre story. Fans of POP will be right at home with this game and I suspect will find some enjoyment with the new freeze water power. My advise--->Rent it-

It is a good game just not up to snuff with the rest of the series....don't waste 60 bucks -because although it has some unlockable modes etc. chances are after you beat this game you'll move on. It had allot of potential but I felt it was just short of the mark of being a rightful heir to this series throne.

Some people complain about the graphics, but the game wasn't designed to be a PS3 game really. It was the same game for pc, etc so the graphics were great to me. I didn't think it was too short at all. It took me about 2 months to get through the entire game the first time, but I didn't play hours on end since I am a working adult. It isn't Zelda length by any means, but a decent challenge. It is a fun game, but not overly challenging. The most challenging part is the puzzles in certain parts of the game. It is a great addition if you are a prince of persia fan like myself. The story kept me interested throughout the game. The game has dropped in price so it is a great buy now.

Normally I would NOT consider rating a fighting game so low for it's lack of 1 player modes...but coupled with an absolutely POOR online mode and confusing character designs, makes this one of the most disappointing fighters available. Comparisons will be made to BlazeBlue and SF4, as those were released not too long ago, although SF4 was but is STILL getting serious play.

The character designs are confusing in the sense that, techniques/moves given to the characters don't quite make sense for their fighting style. E.G. Ralph was in the past a grappler, well they've taken away most of his grappling moves, and replaced them with some special punches that I've yet to really figure out their advantages. Some characters are a given in design, ex. Iori, as they're templates make very little changes to their overall winning strategy. Most characters don't have enough moves may be the biggest complaint others may make...but MY complaint is that they've changed/removed moves for characters that make you wonder WHY? E.G. Mature had over 4-5 moves in KOF 94...she's been dumbed down to 2 moves and a super. Maybe she's like Guile in SF4 and doesn't need anymore, but you seen this trend in a lot of the characters, like Raiden, Sei Kensou (have NO idea how this guy is gonna win btw...) and Clark with the whole system of all moves/throws are "faster" than special throws. Kinda throws his game out the window.

The online mode is a complete disaster. I've never seen online modes on SF4,Blazblue, hell even Tekken 5 DR run as low FPS/high latency as this. I'm talking about watching a slide show. NO JOKE. Nothing seems to make it much better, and this is AFTER THE ONLINE UPDATE! If Blazeblue can do it, hell if SF4s 3d engine can do it, so can this game. Someone got lazy somewhere here...

Finally, no story mode, no incentive to play through against the arcade cpu (like unlocking artwork, characters, costumes... come on SOMETHING!) I would normally say who cares, that fighting games are 2 PLAYER games right? Well, not with the mentioned above problems.

It's hard enough to get people huddled around 1 tv to play a fighting game. It would make sense that a good but understandably not perfect online experience should be implemented. As said, the weaknesses FAR outshine any good this game could of had. Disappointing, as I've been playing this series since KOF 95 on my PSone.

My first impression: All looks, no substance. Welcome to King of Fighters where the champion burns, the options are limited and the boys look like girls.

As an old school SNK fan, I must say that I was anticipating this new game to be one that would move the King of Fighters into the forefront of next gen fighting. I expected it to be like it's predecessors except have a nice interface, awesome art and special effects to trump the former titles. Almost weekly I would check the site and look at the clean images and the demo reels, salivating at the chance of playing my beloved KOF and who could blame me, being that KOF XI was fully loaded.

Before I start let's examine the aspect of sequels and how things have played out with the competitor in Street Fighter 4 . The original was a groundbreaking game which has had sequels to improve on the look, feel and play up until the point that the original seems stiff and unplayable by today's standards (I am talking Street Fighter original not Street Fighter 2). Let's take a look at the Fatal Fury series, the same can be said when you contrast Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 to the original Fatal Fury. If you tried playing the original now, you would turn it off after a few moments of the weird AI kicking your ass as you struggle to pull off a move. Real Bout is awesome fun in comparison. My point in these two comparisons is that sequels should be a step above their former game, it is what we have grown to expect.

Story:

That all being said let us examine the progress of the King of Fighters timeline. Originally story-wise the tournament was put together by Rugal, it transcended into a larger force called the Orochi who wanted to harness the power of the fire master Kyo Kusanagi (star of the KoF series) and produced a bunch of flawed clones that led to other circumstances. Although a bit hokey, there was always a story for the few people (myself included) who gave a damn. In King of Fighters XII, you do a Time Trial as the arcade game, no real teams, no story and no cool features to unlock from doing them. What is the point outside of earning Playstation trophies? This really upset me.

Fighting:

The original King of Fighters `94 is still a fun game to play even though the contestants have been tweaked, changed and perfected by the time you use them in King of Fighters XI. I am not sure why the producers felt it necessary to revert the series back to `94 which I am assuming was their intent based on the characters I have played for 11 games (sans Mai who isn't in the new roster). We are given the ugly jumpsuit Andy Bogart with traditional moves, diesel trucker Terry Bogart with classic moves (so no power dunk, power charge, or overheat Geyser), traditional Ryo Kusanagi and an uber chibi version of Athena. For players who had gotten used to the massive 10+ hit combos of the King of Fighters series this game will feel enormously dumbed down.

Online Gaming:

kof 2 The King of Fighters XII (4/10)After the disappointment that is the Arcade mode for people who don't have a little brother or buddy to beat up on in versus, you can try to go online and fight people. This is one of the few positive things that I have to report... well not the fighting online but the new Clan feature. A group of friends are allowed to create a Clan and get people in to support the point system by kicking ass online. This, if combined later with Playstation Home could be a real gem and a necessary component for later fighters. This feature is very cool since it allows for your friends to stay together and help one another out in reaping the rewards of being up on the leaderboard.

Playing online however has been less than stellar for me and I will describe it the best I can through a metaphor: It felt like playing against someone with my fighters having to wade through mud in order to pull of their moves. It is so sloooow, I blamed this on the fact that I am used to the fast pace of Street Fighter 4 . I have also been playing King of Fighters `00 recently and going from that pace to King of Fighters XII is beyond brutal. I wanted to turn the game off and play something else. But the Clan feature is good and I really wish that this will be a feature made into other fighting games and linking it to Playstation Home will give that feature even more possibilities beyond logging in and dancing with trannies. Speaking of trannies, why does half of KOF's roster consist of men who look 100% female? This isn't limited to Ash or the once effeminate Bennimaru. Key up Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like A Lady".

In Conclusion:

With the slowed down pacing of the fights and the fact that the engine rewards button mashing with the light and heavy buttons. New players will no doubt be pulled in to like the King of Fighters 12. There is an advanced move that I am sure was made to attract vets (like Street Fighter 4's Focus) called a Critical Counter. The Critical Counter is done by pressing a heavy button when close to your opponent and your green Critical bar is flashing. A newb's dream come true a nice accidental heavy punch press will start a combo similar to a Z-ism in Street Fighter Alpha 3 which goes on for about 5 seconds, allowing you to link hits and moves that normally wouldn't link. Once the counter is wearing off, you can finish it with a super or a special. Remember those pretty videos of KOF12 combos? Well those were all criticals.

I see what the developers were going for in dumbing down the series and reverting it back to the original. The thing about doing so is the slow gameplay and limited moves reminds me too much of `94. Street Fighter 4 managed to dumb down their game engine and add in elements that would keep vets like myself happy, while maintaining the interest in casual and new gamers. The King of Fighters XII is not successful in this. What is good about the game though, aside from the horrible load times even when you install it on your harddrive (I mean what the hell) is the crisp new art of all the characters. This gives me hope that in XIII or whatever, they can re-use them to make a fast-paced, fun version. Sorry I know that was mean.

The fact that there is a Playstation Store embedded into the menu makes me scared that later on down the line we will be sold more characters, stages and possibly a turbo upgrade to make it playable (there I go again being an ass). I give this a big no-thanks even with a little K' and Mai sprinkled on top. I already own King of Fighters `94 and even with the opportunities that a Clan can present, I still find this a really hard game to get into.

Eh uh... Let me start by saying that I AM a KOF faithful; always have been and will be proud of it. On a wide scale, it was always written off as the knock off of Street Fighter, and while that may have been true in terms of gameplay and controls/overall mechanics, KOF always made up for it with "style." Even with identical commands, KOF characters pulled off more fighter-worthy moves, and KOF offered a true variety of characters, most of them with reasons to be anyone's favorite character.

However, I am not so sure if I could vouch for all the goodies KOF had to offer thus far in this highly-anticipated entry, KOF XII.

Otherwise known as 'KOF Rebirth,' KOF XII was to be THE fighting game of this year. Street Fighter IV came out early, but it only elicited a strong disappointment among the fans. KOF XII was to be THE game to truly rekindle the 2D fighter-fire that had diminished over the years. Then, BlazBlue of AKSYS came out; it took the critics and gamers by storm and by now there probably isn't a fighter-fan who has not even tried the game. AND, about a month after BB, KOF XII came out (with GameStop breaking the release date, nice).

And that's probably both the biggest advantage for BlazBlue and disadvantage for KOF XII, expectations.

BlazBlue offered not only colorful visual and orchestral fighter music (which is quite fresh) but also super-fast and sometimes ridiculous gameplay. And character design? out.of.this.world.

KOF XII, frankly, fails to deliver. I mean, it DID deliver, just not as strongly as BlazBlue.

I thought I was not what my friends (and I) call a 'graphic-whore,' but I guess underneath it all, I am. Hand-drawn sprites (which was the sellint point of this game) are most certainly nice. But even with the provided soft filter on, there are gaps, holes, rough edges, and sketchy animations to be found just about anywhere in-game, and when you put in BlazBlue right after playing KOF XII, one can't HELP but make comparisons and they are not in favor of 'the King.'

and the sound does not impress, either. SNK has not evolved much from before the franchise's "rebirth" and I really can't feel the exciting, engaging atmosphere from the soundtracks.

however there is a pro to this game that stands over all others gameplay!

it's the most fluid game motion i've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. therefore, the fighting can only be simple and fast, which every fighter is meant to be (i'm not talking about commands or battle systems). even with deadlocks, a common mechanic which SNK decided to embed with KOF XII; Rebirth, bouts are never slowed down or lagged. critical counter is, in my opinion, also interesting. while you can't be moving at all when using it, when timed right, it literally opens up an opportunity to just beat your opponent senselessly.

now for the reason this review has to be dated the roster and online play.

to be honest, it's weak. i know SNK had a complete overhaul in mind and they focused on rather more important things but it's KOF, for god's sakes. 22 fighters? not even CLOSE to enough. most fans seem to want and almost definitely there will be DLCs for widening the character roster (Mai and K' in highest demands) but it's... ya, disappointing.

and WHAT is next-generation fighter without decent online playing? i know i'm doing this a lot, but BlazBlue had PERFECT online experience laid out for its players. whereas KOF, in 20 or so online matches i've played getting frustrated there was not one single legit match. there were updates even as of now to make the game at least PLAYABLE online but if this issue isn't dealt with promptly and correctly, the fans WILL turn away.

SNK succeeded in a sense in turning the never-changing game upside down and welcoming it to the next age, but perhaps not quite as well as they'd hoped to. Luckly SNK is very receptive of fan feedbacks so who knows? i'll probably be able to give stars of the number i want in the near future.

p.s. don't use Iori

Much like Turbo, the movie, was a disappointment in the movie theater, such is the life of Turbo: Super Stunt Squad.

You might have thought you'd be racing with the different characters. Instead, you'll be playing a very shallow, poor Tony Hawk impersonation of a game. In other words, skateboarding minus the skateboard.

Yes, that's right. Advancement in Turbo: SSS involves you pulling tricks, picking up scattered items, and trying to find your way around each level.

As a gamer who has 7-8 Platinum trophies and an overall level of 14, I'm so happy I rented this through GameFly so I saved my money and did not buy this game.

Your pre-teen kids very well might find enjoyment in using the various characters, but I haven't felt this much frustration in a skating game since the skating parts in the Spyro series (especially Year of the Dragon).

My advice: Save your money as this will be heading to the $15 bargain bin within a couple months, but whatever you do, do NOT pay $40 for this game.

I bought this as I expected it to be (as advertised) a bluetooth wireless controller for both PS3 and PC. It turns out, it is wireless only for the PS3. There is no way to successfully pair the controller to a bluetooth computer (even using sixpairtool, etc.). It will work with third party bluetooth stacks like those on iOS and Android, but it will not work with the native bluetooth stack in Windows like any PC advertised bluetooth controller should. The device only functions as a PC controller when it is wired, which makes it useless for the reason I purchased it. Time to start the return.

I ordered this controller because it was cheap and I knew that I could find about 30 uses for it. It actually turned out to be more sturdy and well built than I expected based on other reviews, maybe even a little better than sony's ps3 controllers. They've got some weight to them, they fit in your hand well, they don't feel flimsy or cheap, and they look pretty good.

Since the controller is sixaxis based, I can easily pair it with my android tablet and play about anything with it. From emulators to GTA: Vice City, it works just as expected.

Good job!

I have always been a fan of Sony and had Playstation consoles exclusively. I have never tried a Wii, though I know several people who have them and they all told me how much fun they are. I have been eagerly awaiting the Sony Move for months, and picked it up the first day of it's release. I was amazed at how accurate the controls were! Anyway, when I decided I was getting the Move, the first thing I did was search out a bowling game. I found Brunswick Pro Bowling being previewed everywhere. The graphics looked awesome, and the way the folks demonstrated the game in the videos, it gave me the impression that this would be a pretty realistic experience.

I picked up a copy of the game yesterday. I have to say, I searched everywhere for a review of the game before buying to see what people where saying about it. Of the few reviews I found, almost all were negative. I was surprised. I heard everything from "The controls are bad" to "The graphics aren't great" to "The game is unresponsive" etc. I actually hesitated buying it after reading this stuff.

Well, I have to say that I'm a GLAD that I did NOT listen to the negative reviews. I spent about 3 hours last night playing, and I had a lot of fun doing so. Even the guy in the store told me that most negative reviews come from people who just can't play the game. They stink at it, so automatically the game gets a negative review.

The game is really this simple...You load it up, select the game you want to play (so far I just did the quick game and chose the first character), choose your ally, and you're off. Anytime you need to calibrate the game, you push [select]. Use the "T" button to position your bowler, press the "set" button. Use "T" again to aim, press the "set" button. Hold in T and your bowler starts to walk to the foul line. Here comes the part where people say it sucks. You have to time your throw, just like you would in real bowling. Again, I have never tried a Wii, so I don't know first hand...but I'm told that with Wii bowling, you can really chuck that ball down the lane. This game is designed to be a simulation, that won't fly here. At first, I could throw the ball down at about 9MPH. But with practice I realized that you need to time your release, and now I'm able to consistantly throw the ball at 16-20MPH. Also keep in mind that each character you play has a different level of strength. A "weaker" character might not be able to throw a ball 20MPH.

At any rate, after I played the first game, I just thought to myself "there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this game." I personally don't feel that it deserves the negative reviews it's getting. I wouldn't tout it as the Game of the Year or anything, but for $30, it's a good bowling simulation that has so far provided a few hours of fun. And as far as realism, I'm bowling exactly the same score on Brunswick Pro Bowling that I would in real bowling...115 baby!!! It just takes practice. The controls DO work, you CAN throw the ball at a good speed, and you ABSOLUTELY CAN hook the ball...there are three different balls to choose from, each one "bites" the ally differently. A "10" barely hooks, a "30" a little more, and the "green monster" (as I call it due to it's neon green color) "50" really bites when you put spin on it. There's a lot more to the game than just "swinging your arm as hard as you can and hoping for the best."

First off, let me say that I agree with the reviewers who have said that patience and practice is important with this game. If you expect this game to be like Wii bowling where you can stand there, whip your arm and expect a strike, you will not like this game. If you would appreciate a bowling game with accurate controls where you will most likely bowl horrible at first and have to figure out what you need to do to fix your motion (you know...like you would have to do to improve your score at a real bowling alley?), you will probably enjoy this game.

One of the pros is the accurate controls. (This might be considered a con for small children who just want to knock the pins down, but I suppose you could always turn on the bumpers for them so they don't throw a gutter ball every time.) Swinging your arm with different speed, timing, twisting motion, releasing the trigger button at different times, etc. will have an effect where the ball goes and how fast. Swinging your arm out wide away from your body will have a different effect on the ball than keeping your arm in tight, close to your body. I found that I had to release the trigger much sooner in the down-to-forward motion of my swing than what I first expected. This, combined with learning how to time the swing with the approach of the character on the screen, helped me go from throwing the ball 5 mph when I first played the game to throwing consistently at 18-20 mph. You can even investigate the oil pattern on the lane if you want. I am too dumb to know what this means, but if you know about bowling, you could probably use the oil pattern to plan your shots somehow.

One point to emphasize about the controls is that it really matters where you have the camera set up. We started with the camera on top of our TV, but our controllers were constantly going below the view of the camera during our swing, which would lead to a disastrous shot. We moved the camera down below the TV screen and haven't had a problem since (besides occasionally throwing the ball directly into the gutter on an over-exuberant attempt).

Another plus is the graphics are better than other bowling games out there. Granted, it's not cutting edge technology, so don't expect to be blown away. But having varied bowling allies that actually have a different look and feel to them when they show up on your TV screen is a plus. My wife is always in charge of picking the alley when we bowl together.

When you get a spare or a strike, the game plays these canned animations in an onscreen window to celebrate your triumph. Most don't have anything to do with bowling, but some are a little humorous. Luckily, once you get tired of watching these short video clips, you can skip them by pressing a button. Also, there is a short replay after EVERY shot you take. I can understand showing replays of important moments or impressive spare pick-ups, but a replay of every shot is a bit much. You can skip the replays by pressing a button too.

In career mode, you can choose your bowling avatar from a very limited selection of bowlers. You can change the clothing, bowling ball, fashion accessories, etc. for your player, but so far I have found the options for personalizing your bowler rather limited. I like there to be really zany personalization options for my game characters, and the choices here seem to be pretty straight forward, although I will admit I haven't played nearly enough to claim I've seen everything that the game has to offer. And you can't edit the character models themselves at all. As you win games in career mode, you unlock clothing, accessories, and bowling balls.

There are three career modes you can play. In one you play on a team in a league. You can choose to control all the players on your team, only control your game character, or any combination in between. I haven't spent much time in this mode yet. The mode I normally play is the tournament mode where you enter...tournaments...and play solo. There is also a challenge mode where random bowlers challenge you to a game. In addition, there is a non-career mode where you are presented with varied arrangements of pins with the challenge to pick up the spares. You get a better score depending on how many throws it takes you for each pin arrangement.

While I do enjoy this game, there are a few things about it that I do not like:

Only the score of the player currently bowling is displayed on the screen at any one time. As far as I can tell, there is no way to look at all the bowlers' scores at once during a game. You have to remember where you are in relation to everyone else as you bowl. This is a serious flaw one that I hope they fix with a software patch in the future. I think there should be a running score of all the bowlers in your game onscreen at all times with an option to pull up a window and view the entire scorecard.

In tournament mode, if you're playing a tournament with eight rounds and you lose in the seventh, you must start the tournament over. You cannot simply replay the game you lost and pick up in that round of the tournament again. I know this is more realistic, but I would prefer if it gave the option of restarting the round rather than booting you out of the tournament to have to begin it again.

Sometimes music plays in the background during your game. There are not many songs, and they get old fast. You can turn the music down or off in the options menu.

Navigating the menu screens with the motion controller (without the extra navigation controller) is a pain because it takes a lot more movement of the controller to move the selection than it does in the PS3 XMB home menu. You might want to keep a regular controller or the navigation controller handy to help navigate the menus more quickly.

There is no screen that automatically pops up before your game to help you to calibrate your controller. Instead, there is a little message on the bottom of the screen telling you to press a certain button to calibrate. The ball on the controller flashes white until you have calibrated it and you can't bowl without calibrating, so why doesn't the calibration screen just pop up automatically at the start of the first game? Ugh.

On the first shot of the first frame, you set your bowler's start position and angle. This establishes the starting position for your bowler for the first shot of every subsequent frame. You would think this position would remain unchanged, but I have found that occasionally in the later frames of the game the position will creep a little to one side or the other (without you having done anything to change it). This can be annoying because you can bowl a frame or two without noticing that the computer changed your position unbeknownst to you.

Another quirky glitch to note is that there is an arbitrary time limit the game programmers imposed for how long it can take the ball to get to the pins. When we first started, sometimes we would only throw the ball 3 mph, which would cause the ball to disappear just before reaching the pins and our player to reset for the next attempt assuming the last attempt was a gutter ball. It was frustrating, but once we figured out the controls a little better, it has been fine.

In summary, this game is probably not as good as it could have been, but it is fun. If you have the Move controllers, are looking for a game to play and don't mind a little bit of a learning curve, you'll probably like it.

I disagree with the reviews below. I just purchase the game and it's blast. I agree the move control is definitely tricky but once you learn it it's a lot of fun. In my opinion wii bowling it's good but not as accurate as ps3 bowling. Not really sure what is the person below talking about "you have to whip your arm super fast to get any speed on the ball" again once you learn it all you have to do is swing your arm in moderate speed, release the trigger button in the right time (timing is very important in this game) and the player will throw the ball 20mph every time. To curve the ball it's also super easy and way more accurate than wii. I would definitely recommend this game.

you all know the saying..... Practice makes perfect.... Well thats what you need with this game.... when you first play this game your only gonna bowl a 50-100..... Dont give up on the game quite yet.... its all about timing, speed, just like your at a bowling alley bowling..... I know the first time i played this game i was only getting 50-75.... Now im bowling 170-220.... Its alot of fun when you get the hang of it.....

Want Brunswick Pro Bowling Discount?

I bought this game before there were any reviews. Once I started playing I was like other reviewers and was like WTF it won't go any faster then 6-7mph. But like another reviewer mentioned timing is everything. Now when I bowl I've been scoring anywhere between 140-170. Here is what I have been doing. First make sure the PS3 eye is waist high so not on top of your tv put it below it. Next when I'm ready to bowl I hold the move controller straight up and down so the the glowing ball is on top. Next I hit the trigger button then the bowler starts moving forward. Once the player just about reaches the lane I swing back and forward letting go and adding a carve as needed and I consistently through 17-20.5mph. Once you get the timing right this game is a lot of fun. I went from throwing a game of 50 to now throwing a 170. So give it a chance and practice.

I bought three PS3 games on launch: Madden, NHL 2K7 and Call of Duty. Of the three, I like this one the best. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is fantastic too. If you bought the EA NHL series in the past, do not hesitate to purchase this game it is all that and more. The only flaw and its a very minor one is that the menu screens look pretty unimpressive and more like PS2 quality. But really, who cares about that? The play-by-play announcer is a little lame, mispronouncing numerous names. He was obviously not a hockey fan. You can't beat Gary Thorne and Bill Clement as a broadcast team, so hopefully they can upgrade for next year's version.

This is (with the exception of NHL 93 on SNES) the best hockey game I've played. Hockey is one of those sports that seems custom made for video games. The action is fast, constantly changing directions. However, the fine details of the game were, in the past, difficult to translate to video games. Let's do a pro and con breakdown, shall we?

Pros:

fantastic, realistic game play. Your D men on the point in the O zone will actually play the point. They'll trap pucks along the boards before the exit the O zone. Players on offense set up in position like in the real games. Players play the fore and back check when dumping the puck into the zone. Odd man rushes feel right and you're still rewarded more for being able to use the poke check than hitting. And you'll pay if you get out of position defensively. Heck, the neutral zone trap D that teams play even comes out well in the game. This factor (realism) is by far the heaviest by which I rate a hockey game.

Graphics are greatly improved from previous gen. They could be better, but the player models look great.

Decent commentary. It doesn't get old too fast, but sometimes the game moves too fast for the commentary to keep up. They'll often use a players name incorrectly. The only example I can think of is, say, a Goalie makes a stop and moves the puck alone to a skater. The skater may be on a break-away, but the commentator will state the goalie's name as the player on the break-away simply because the game itself has moved too fast for the commentary, if that makes sense. It's like the commentators are going to say something about the goalie's save, and the break-away at the same time, so they end up mixing the two statements into one.

The fight system is improved too. Instead of the action stopping immediately for two players about to drop the gloves, you're promted on screen, during the game action, to press select to fight. It tells you which two players are about to go at it as well. That way you can consciously decide whether you want to duke it out, or let the game continue. If it's one of your tough guys that want's to throw down, you can hit select and it's on. If it's one of your weaker, finesse players, you can ignore the select button and continue playing without a stop in the action.

Cons:

I'll have to fine tune the gameplay a bit with the sliders, as it's a bit too easy for me to score. Granted, I've been playing on the default difficulty, so I have no room to complain. One timers are still pretty easy, and it's very easy to deke the goalies on break-aways. That's really my only complaint so far, and I'm sure that's easily fixed by bumping the difficulty up a level.

All in all, if you're a fan of the game of hockey, or just like Hockey video games, you won't be disappointed with NHL 2K7.

Buy NHL 2K7 (Jewel case) Now

Don't be misled by reviews from people who've said the gameplay and/or stats are unrealistic. Everything in the game can be adjusted through the use of sliders that control every aspect of the game. Someone mentioned 80 shots per game at 10 minute periods. I play full 20 minute periods, real time, and neither side gets near 80 shots a game. Why? Adjustments. I play at All-Star level, goalie strength set to 50%, Defense 100%, offense 0%, speed at 20% or so, speed burst 37%, speed burst duration 17%. These last 3 are probably the most important when trying for realistic action. With Speed burst set too high, every play can be a breakaway. At this setting, you might go the whole game without one. If the scoring/shots are still too high, notch passing down to 70 or 60%, there are a lot of missed passes in real hockey, and if you make every pass with the setting at 90 or 100, well of course you can get a shot or two off every minute of the game, especially with the speed setting too high as well. Believe me, everything can be adjusted, I've played over 120 games with this, and still sometimes tweek these settings for a most realistic and challenging experience.

I totally agree with you. I have played this game and EA's NHL 07 on the 360. This game is superior in every way except graphics. And that is easily overlooked. Now the graphics are not bad, they are solid, but NHL 07 is better, with more detail. This game however, is superior in gameplay, realism, animations, and a noticeably obvious lack of in game bugs. EA's NHL you try and pass the puck with the goalie, and it will go in the total opposite direction. This game is just more enjoyable, more playable, and cooler to watch. The slider options are great. I usually don't like that concept, but I have effectively been able to create the type of game I want to play. I have played college hockey, and have played hockey video games going back to NHL 94, and this is definitely the choice of this years pick. Hopefully next year they will improve it visually, fix a few small problems, and leave the gameplay alone. I also want to say, I hate the coach's speech before the game. Leave it out of next year. I give 4 stars because I would like to see the graphics improved, they could be better I'm sure on the PS3, and there is some room for improvement in some other areas.

Want NHL 2K7 (Jewel case) Discount?

Quite possibly the best "sport" related game for the first wave launch. The graphics are awesome. I'm not even that big of a hockey fan. The ice looks outstanding. I too was a big EA supporter, not anymore.

Usually, when they make a highly anticipated sequel to a much-loved video game franchise, the list of available activities goes up. It seems to me that with GTA IV, that list actually went down. Anyone agree?

I waited anxiously for GTA IV just like many other gamers. I have only been playing it for a few days, and I am already 50% of the way through. After playing GTA: San Andreas for a few days, I was thrilled to discover that I was only about 20% of the way through and still had not revealed the entire map! More detail at the sake of less space to explore = "Looks great. Sure wish it was bigger."

One of the most exciting moments in my video gaming history was discovering that you could finally steal the airplanes in GTA: San Andreas! One of the most disappointing moments in my video gaming history was discovering that they had eliminated this from GTA IV! What a perfect opportunity to make the flight ceiling higher and the destinations more interesting! Sorry, turns out it's back down to one smallish city. Plus, realizing that you could jump of of planes and sky-dive was freakin' sweet! Not happening this time around.

The controls for the various vehicles seem to have become more difficult. (More realistic?) I preferred being able to grab the handbrake and execute crisp turns and 180's to the new "touch the handbrake and spin out" scheme that exists now. And the motorcycles? It seems they've switched the reasonably grippy tires they normally used with tractionless rings of plastic.

And where have the fire-truck and ambulance missions gone? What about the ability to swim under water? Why haven't I been able to carry around a samurai sword or a chainsaw? Where is the flame-thrower? And what a great location the new Liberty City would have been for a jet-pack!

GTA IV seems to be a lot of "been there, done that" with very little new to keep the legions of fans happy. It will sell a billion copies because of the name it carries, but overall, this game is a disappointment.

Just when you think you have Rockstar Games and their legendary Grand Theft Auto series figured out, they pitch you one heck of a curve. Speaking as a guy who spent so much time running amok in Vice City and San Andreas that I practically had to file tax returns there, I have been consistently surprised by the depth of play in GTA IV. Yes, it's true that the character modeling and some of the action moves are a little choppy, but most of the game looks great. Far more interesting, however, is the fact that this is not a video game per se it borders on an interactive movie. The crime and violence in fuzzy-lit, pastel colored Vice City is practically cartoonish compared to the gritty reality of life in Liberty City in GTA IV. You're not just a thug with a bat trying to decide which car to lift, you're an immigrant with plenty of emotional baggage, forced into a series of moral quandries the outcomes of which carry implications throughout the entire game. Things you do even turn up later on the in-game radio stations!

Every generation of game console, some game is proclaimed the next coming, be it of graphics, or gameplay, or some other measurable category. GTA IV is different. You can wallow in the muck of street violence and prostitution as always, but there's a deeper moral play going on that feels unlike anything else I've encountered not only in GTA, but in video games in general. Rockstar Games may have finally located that most ephemeral of experiences one equal parts game and cinema, without belonging entirely to either. It's going to be interesting to see how many critics and politicians seize on only the overt, adult content, without grasping how far more creative and artistic this "game" is than your average deadening FPS or racing game. Rockstar Games is to be commended for what truly deserves to be called "genius."

This game has hard core fans with disparate expectations. There are a myriad of rave reviews on this game. I thought I'd write one for those who are finding GTA4 to be...so-so?

I've read the positive reviews--it's a GTA for grown ups (weren't they all?), it's darker better, grittier (based on your character's facial hair I assume), it's more REALISTIC.

Ok. stop right there. Sorry but I don't want realism. I don't want to drive clunky cars that can't take a 90 degree turn at 30 mph without plowing through a storefront. I don't want to call up friends when I'd rather be doing something else just so I can keep the relationship (and the perks they offer) going. I don't want a GTA version of the virtual Secondlife or SIMS. I want to jetpack around in my tightie whities and a mohawk, 200 lbs overweight, listening to Conway Twitty. Now you're talking about fun.

Seriously, fun has been the ultimate of the GTA's until now. Niko Belak is NO FUN, he'd tell you personally. Previous GTA's all offered that thrill of exhilaration. I'm just not getting that here.

Pluses

*Taking cabs--much better than cross country treks that go awry when you make a wrong turn and crash into the ocean.

*Having a lawyer for a girlfriend--good idea

*Evading the cops by stealth rather than bribes

*Very cool graphics with smooth transitions

*Best bank robbery mission ever

*Good weapons/aiming control

Minuses

*Repetitive missions (shoot em up, run away from the cops)

*A little too easy. In all the other GTA's I've gotten stuck somewhere, simply b/c I'm not the best hand-eye coordinator. Nothing in GTA4 stymied me for more than 2 repeat tries.

*Lack of customization

*Lack of skill improvement (i.e. cars, shooting, bikes, endurance, etc)

*Lack of haircuts and accessories(Hey, I'm a chick, what do you want?)

*Drastic changes in driving controls

*Uninteresting NPC's/stories/dialogue

*Lack of 'stuff' to find in nooks and crannies

*Second-shelf music selection

*Inability to buy businesses

In sum, I just shelved this game at about 80% completion for another one I got for $20. That is the most demonstrative comment I can offer. Previous GTA's were my heroin--this one's more like methadone. Save your $60 and wait 6 months--the market will be glutted w/ extra copies.

So many comparisons to other GTA's and all of them missing the point...This is not GTA Vice city, or San Andreas, it's new and much more realistic. Yes, the game is dark in spots, and holy crap, if you get indoors and someone comes up behind you and starts pummeling you it's hard to get around to hitting them back with the camera jerking everywhere, but the sheer detail, size, and interactivity are amazing. The game play is pure GTA, beating people down, dodging their punches and counter-punching, stalking into a street with shotgun drawn, cycling through targets and POW,POW,POW!!!! I love it!!! The vehicles are really true to life, steal an SUV and try to take a corner at top speed...over you go, just like real life. Steal a Banshee and away you go, burning rubber the whole way. This is not the cheesy jet packing, chainsaw in the street, gangsta' wannabe, f-bomb fest that was San Andreas, this is involved life with a conflicted protagonist and deep story that will pull you right in. I feel for our hero, I care if he succeeds, that's the difference. My first day I stole a motorcycle and cruised the town, like I was there, I followed the lights, cruised up and down, and beat up some old man, then I crossed the bridge in a stolen garbage truck and got a level 5 wanted level, I drove like a madman to get back to my safe house, with a helicoptwer firing at me, and a swarm of cop cars to plow through, it was awesome!! Let the 14 year olds whine because they can't customize their car, get a driving game if that's what you want, for me this is the heat! The best part for me is knowing that as good as this one is, the next will be even better. I like it!!

I don't know how some review sites can give this game a perfect 10 rating. It is a great game, but far from perfect. The PS3 version suffers from several technical problems that have been pointed out here ad nauseam. One patch has already been released, and hopefully future patches will fix the rest of the problems. As for the game itself, it's one of the best ever. It's definitely a solid "9", but far from a 10. If you can wait awhile and avoid the hype, you may be better off waiting until most of the major problems are fixed. Online play has been partially fixed, but it still isn't perfect.

This product does NOT work properly. The pretty little blue lights come on, but it does not charge the controllers, which is the whole point of having it. I checked everywhere and there is no switch. I wonder how they can manufacture such a bad quality charger!!!

I bought one last month, but could only charge 2 ps3 wireless controllers once successfully, and it did not work the 2nd time, not even when I put only one controller on it.

I asked for an exchange, and unfortunately exact same problem happened on the exchanged new charger, but the shop could not exchange for me again.

It is written compatiable for ps3 but I think somehow there is a problem, and I wasted my money on this charge I could use only once.

Please make sure the quality is ok before putting them up in the market for sale!!!

I got this about 5 months ago and it has been a good way for me to charge 2 controllers without having to use both of my USB slots on my PS3. One problem this has is that when your controller is plugged in you cant see the lights flashing on the top of the controller. Also when plugging the controller in it doesn't slide right into place. Also the mini-USB input is upside down, but thats just annoying.

I was hoping that this game would be great, but it is very disappointing. Since I'm older than most gamers, and also enjoy The History Channel, I thought this game would be at least very good to me. It's not. It's medicore at best, and a disappointing effort from Activision and The History Channel. The game sounds good on paper. You get to take part in some of the most famous battle of The Civil War, along with some historical information from The History Channel to send you on your way. It just doesn't work. You get a few sentences, and then sent on your way. When the mission is complete, you pretty much get nothing other than a stat screen. As for the features of the game, the graphics are nothing special. The music and narrative are very repetitive, and get old fast. The gameplay is frustrating. There is no multiplayer, and the solo missions get old fast. I give the game 3 stars only because I'm a history buff. Otherwise it's much closer to 2 stars.

For those who did not like "A Nation Divided" I would recomend you give this a try. Although it has the some of the makings of the first game it has much more depth of environment. The outdoor environments are impressive. Gameplay is linear but you have the option in some cases to flank your opponent and approach from a different angle. Another addition to this game is the rank system. As you complete missions and kill more enemies you rank up and get skill points you can use to improve your gameplay. I have this game for PS3 and I think it is much better than the first one. Anyone who likes FPS's and the American Civil War will like this game.

Although the historical accuracy can be non-existent at times, "Civil War: Secret Missions" is a fun, exciting game in the tradition of the classic "Medal of Honor" games, putting you in the middle of the events that saw our country torn asunder, and then brought back together. It's a bit challenging at times, but the game-play is overall fun and exciting. If you enjoyed "Medal of Honor," then you'll enjoy "Civil War: Secret Missions."

This a good but standard first person shooter game. I would have expected

better historical content from the History Channel.

The game came scratched but still worked. It was not what I expected. There is some action but not as much as I expected. Not hard to beat at all. A seven year old beat a level on hard in less than 15 minutes. Here are some good things about the game it tells you about the Civil War history. Over all I would get it. It is a good game. That is why I gave it 3 stars.

I have to admit I have been a skeptic of the Singstar franchise. With game after game on the PS2 it didn't really anything I was ever interested in. Now with it's new life on the PS3 it is a whole other game. Singstar is without a doubt the best party game available right now on the PS3. It is also a prime example of how much fun community gaming can be.

From the minute you pop the disc in it's simple to navigate the menu. You esentially have three options. Play Singstar, view gallery, and online. I am going to cover each option so that you can understand how much fun this game is.

Playing Singstar gives you a choice of thirty songs to croon over. The thirty songs are a mix of pop, r&b, and rock. Sorry country fans, your not going to find any of your favorite songs on this disc. Although you only get 30 songs to chooose from there are well over 200 available on the Singstore. More on that later. Now with Singstar you can just have a solo performance or if you have your friends around there are plenty more options. You can actually have contests with up to eight people. The possibilities are really endless. With multiplayer you can either perform a duet or battle others. There are specific songs for duet although every song will let you perform a duet. With a battle you can take on others to try and get the highest score. With the performances they are scored on a scale of 0 to 10,000. There are also difficulty levels if you want more of a challenge. The object is rather simple: Sing at the same tone as the artists. As you sing you really have to make sure you can keep the same level as the musician. On easy it's rather simple to get a good score. Upping the difficulty level makes it that much more difficult. What makes the performances memorable is that you can record your vocals. Now if your voice is or isn't very good you can adjust microphone level. What makes Singstar magic is having a USB camera that is compatible with the PS3 or a PS Eye. The camera will record a 25 second video of you belting out your greatest. You can even take the artists voice out of the songs. Of course I wouldn't advise anyone to do this unless they have a good voice. Now the audio clips, videos, and even snapshots the camera will take go into your gallery.

Now the gallery is what stores your best or worst performances. From here you can let other people see your performance at home. The gallery will store numerous videos, audio clips, and pics. What makes the gallery truly a gallery is that you can upload any of these things online to the Singstar interface.

Online is what takes this game to the next level. The Singstore is what the PSN should be. Immediately you get to choose from over 200 more songs that are available in the store. Each song sells for $1.49 and comes with the video. Not a bad price for some good fun. The Singstore will update with songs every other week. SONY is promising 25 to 50 songs a month. The artists cover a wide array of music genres dating back to the 1960's to songs that have just been released. I have already found myself downloading numerous songs I enjoy. The new music will keep this game fresh for quite a few months if not years.

The most amazing feature is the Singstar Online feature. From the main menu you can set up your profile listing your favorite song and musician. You can also have a picture taken from your USB camera. From your profile you can also view messages people leave you and check your uploaded videos to see if people are giving you good scores. You can also access other players. Set up like Youtube you can watch players from all around the world perform their best. The interface allows you to watch videos that have just been uploaded. You can also check out featured performances for the week. These are the higher scoring songs. And lastly they have a hall of fame featuring the highest rated most viewed performances. You can score any performance from 1 to 5 stars and even leave comments to the performer. If you really like someones performance there is an easy way to access your friends list and mailbox and request a person to be on your friends list. I have seen some stellar performances and I have also seen your very creative performance. This is a definite incentive to try and make something interesting for everyone to see. All in all this is what I enjoy most about the game.

If I were to sum up Singstar I would say it's an experience everyone should try. It's fun, a lot of fun. It's a great break from other gaming experiences and it's a good way to invite people over to do some karoke. I think that most who enjoy to sing in the shower or car should purchase this game. Those who have enjoyed it on the PS2 should enjoy it even more on the PS3. Have fun and try to become a Singstar...

I picked up Singstar the first day it was released here in the USA and am not disappointed. This is exactly what you would expect from a Singstar made for the PS3 with only one exception which I'll get to later. The menu's are very cool and even show little video clips as you move through all the songs trying to decide which one to sing. The menus are very fast and you can be singing a song in no time.

The mics work very well. I have Rock Band for PS3 and these mics are better than the Rock Band mic. They have a nice heavy feel to them and seem to do a great job of picking up your voice. It's very neat to actually have the real video playing while you are singing the song. This leads to my one nitpick about Singstar. Not all videos are in high definition. In fact, I think most of them are just in standard def. While this probably won't matter one bit to you if you don't have a widescreen high def tv it did annoy me a little as some videos can look zoomed in and a little low def. But one thing to keep in mind on this. 99% of the time you're looking at the words and not the video anyway so it's not really a big deal in my opinion.

This brings us to the best thing about Singstar, online media. Singstar for PS3 allows you to upload videos of you singing (using the Playstation Eye camera) as well as pictures the camera catches during the song. If you don't have a camera it also records the audio of your singing attempt. You can upload all three of these to the online Singstar network or choose only one type of upload, i.e. video only, pics only, audio only. This is where the fun begins. Your videos, pics and audio can be viewed and rated by all the other online Singstar people. Even better, you can view videos, pics and audio from Singstar players all over the world and rate them if you choose!! Nothing is funnier than seeing a guy dressed up in a full body, good quality Chewbacca outfit singing and dancing to Scissor Sisters! You will become addicted to surfing through all the videos and finding the funny ones to watch.

Another good thing about this is that you have view options for all three types of media such as, Highest Rated, Newest Uploads and Hall of Fame. It's very much like a "YouTube" for Singstar and the results can be hilarious, confusing, cute, awe inspiring or just plain goofy. If you have people on your Playstation friends who have Singstar you can view their account on Singstar online and see any videos, pics, audio. Incredibly cool online component of this game. You can set your video, pics and audio to private so the whole Singstar community doesn't see them but I have not done this since community ratings are a big part of the fun in my opinion. Overall if you like this type of game I don't think you will be disappointed. The game actually exceeded my expectations!

Well, FINALLY, Sony has seen fit to release SingStar PS3 in the US. Lord know why it was delayed so, since it's been up and running across the pond for many months. But it's here, and the short review is, it is good.

On the plus side:

-The interface is slick. It is generally pretty easy to find and play the songs you like. The microphones are very nice, although they are wired. But it's not a huge dealbreaker, since it would just be another thing to charge. In a nice move, previous PS2 mics are still compatible, so if you have those, you're not forced to upgrade a la Guitar Hero.

-Anyone who enjoys singing will generally enjoy this game. I partake of 'live' karaoke myself, and this game is both good practice as well as a great party ice breaker.

-The battle and 'pass the mic' modes are great fun. There are multiple challenges such as 'micro-medley', first to 5000 points, etc., which spin through your tracks and alternate players. It's a great way to get 8 people rocking on two mics, and a good party game.

-PSEye integration is neat. It really adds to the online segment of the game, since it involves hundreds of people posting silly videos of themselves online for others to chuckle at. If you have't seen a pair of 5 year-olds sing "Toxic" yet, you haven't seen entertainment.

-The SingStore is a great way to let people pick and choose their content, instead of booster discs which may not have all you like. $1.49 is a good price for a full song with a music video, better than competing games and better than services like iTunes.

On the minus side:

-The difficulty levels are a bit wonky and imprecise. "Easy" will allow you to be a full note up or down and still score you along the score bar "line." Not the best way to help people tune up. If you switch to "hard," the game is much less forgiving and will dock points when you are sharp or flat. This is a good thing... but where is Medium? As best I can tell, Medium is exactly the same as Easy. Pitch doesn't count for much. Maybe it demands better rhythm? Clearer delineation between difficulty levels would be nice.

-Download speeds are stupid-slow. a 60mb video should not take 30 minutes to download especially when I can download a 100mb game from the Playstation store in less than 5! Also, this sluggish server issue permeates user videos as well.

-Some of the menu navigation choices are irritating. Why do I have to press triangle to change the name of the singer? Does the d-pad not work? Some of the menu transitions are less than intuitive.

-Volume levels fluctuate. I'll crank up a song to hear the vocal line, then when it is over, I am blasted out by the menu's generic techno music. Seriously, just level it out, it can't be that hard.

-Bizarre "line" choices, inaccurate lines. On some songs with multiple vocal parts, the "line" will switch seemingly at random from melody to harmony, and then back again. Very difficult to follow logically, especially without a space to breathe in.

Needed improvements:

-Online leaderboards with video clips. Instead of a random mish-mash of videos, how about leaderboards for each song? That way, we can search by song, and then search both by singstar score and by user ratings.

-Local leaderboards organized by player. There are only five slots on each song's leaderboard. This makes it difficult for users with lower sores to track their own progress on a song. It would be very useful to be able to access a "user profile" which has a user's entire history, high scores, song averages, etc. A "rating" system like Wii Sports would be neat.

-"Real" karaoke tracks. While I think the presence of the original videos is cool and a great way to appreciate music (especially from those wacky 80s), the karaoke singer in me would like to have real karaoke tracks that are mastered without vocals, to really give me the option to practice for the "real world."

-Song choice. I realize that different regions have different rights agreements or whatever. But why the heck isn't every track sold for the US-region PS2 games on the SingStore? Doesn't Sony already have the rights for these songs, not to mention that they already have the songs programmed for the game? Also, there are several popular genres which are WAY underrepresented. Country? Motown? Disco? Classic Rock from the 60s and 70s? We need some Doors, people... Also, Sony has had different song lists for the EU vs. North America. Why do they get Belinda Carlisle, who, as of the last time I checked, is actually American, while we don't?

*************

Overall, this is a very fun game with a lot of appeal, especially for more "casual" gamers. My girlfriend has played more of this than any other game I own. It is fun, accessible, and has great long-term legs with the SingStore and user-generated content.

If they iron out a few technical points and get a really robust song list online, this game will get played for years by me and I am sure tens of thousands more. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys singing, anyone who wants a party game that takes less hand eye coordination than Guitar Hero, and any pop music fan.

The idea for Singstar is a great one. You get a slew of contemporary music videos that you can sing along to with friends in various methods of competition or cooperation. It's not a new concept -it's been done with Karaoke Revolution and, to some degree, Rock Band.

However, the power of Singstar is its Singstore -an online portal where you can oay to download additional song videos to increase your Singstar library. The promise was that you'd have an ever-updated selection of music to choose from.

Unfortunately, the promise is only really valid in Europe. The first issue is that the Singstore is regional. If you're in the US, you only have access to the US Singstore. In Europe, you only have access to the European one. In Asia, only the Asian one. Due to licensing restrictions and overall poor support from the software developer, currently the only Singstore that really gets any updates is the European Singstore. While there are occasional releases on blu-ray here in the US, the promise of having a store where you could browse and download a select video or two has never been truly fulfilled to any even mediocre standard.

Both Karaoke Revolution and Rock Band seem to manage to negotiate the licensing quagmire and still release weekly downloadable song updates for their software. Singstore, however, while updated frequently in Europe, remains a mostly static portal in the US.

As this was the major selling point for this game over games like Karaoke Revolution, I have to rate Singstar with only two stars. It had promise and incredible possibilities, but its level of support remains woefully lacking. Perhaps someday the developers will help this product achieve its true potential, but for now, it's mostly a dud, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The one thing that has been missing from karaoke games to date is the ability to go online and purchase more songs at any time. Singstar and the PS3 have addressed this problem. No longer are you stuck with the 30 songs that come with the game. Nor are you stuck purchasing additional collections of songs, most of which you may not even like or have never heard of.

Now, you can go to the Singstore and browse through songs with corresponding music videos. A 30 second preview plays instantly. It is easy to purchase individual songs, and each song on a wired connection takes only about 1 minute to download. A wifi connection may take slightly longer. Downloads occur in the background so you can sing other songs in the meantime. The whole experience is seamless and real-time.

Compared to the instant access to new songs, other positive features are really of secondary importance but here they are:

Fairly easy to use graphical user interface (although it is cumbersome to change basic options like camera feed and voice reduction).

Solid overall gameplay with pitch detection. I find it more enjoyable and natural to sing without the pitch bars, graphics, and scoring play in practice mode if you want to do this.

Many singing options (Solo, Duet where players sing different parts, Battle where players sing the same parts)

High quality, sturdy mics

PS3 Eye integration so you can watch yourself sing and dance. You can save a 30 second clip for later viewing or for uploading to the Singstar community.

The Singstar community accessed through the game allows you to view other's performances and rank them. You can sort by highest ranking so it is easy to find entertaining videos. There are many great performances out there as well as humorous ones like little kid singers.

There are some negatives you may want to consider:

Each song costs $1.49 which is somewhat expensive. $1 would be a much more accessible price.

You must add a minimum of $5 to your PS3 "wallet" when you purchase songs which means you can't pay for 3 songs or less without leaving loose change floating in cyberspace. If you purchase more than $5 worth of songs, you can add exact change.

Only standard definition music videos are available at this time. (Update: I found a single HD video available with a size of about 90mb.) On a big screen TV, many videos look pretty bad. In Singstar's defense, most videos are prior to the HD era so the original recordings may not even be capable of HD.

Only about 200 songs are available currently. Maybe it's just me but many songs are completely obscure. Supposedly up to 50 new songs will be available per month. You can go to the Singstar website to browse through the songs. If you don't see many songs you like, you might want to wait a few months to buy the game until more titles are released.

You may run out of hard drive space on your PS3 if you download hundreds of songs. Each song with video takes up to 70MB (HD videos may take up MUCH more space) thus 200 songs would take up about 14GB. That seems like a lot of songs but if you add 5-10 per month, it'll add up over time. You may want to check your available hard drive space in the PS3 system information before you start downloading all your songs. If you might need more space, I would probably upgrade your hard drive first for convenience sake although you can always re-download songs you have purchased. It is very easy to upgrade your hard drive instructions are in your PS3 manual or just google "upgrade PS3 hard drive". I installed a 320gb hard drive in about 20 minutes.

Having a PS3 Eye is great to allow you to video record your performances but the game only records a predetermined 30 second clip within each song. There is no option for recording your entire performance. Some might say Singstar is just being merciful by preventing others from being subjected to full-length performances but this does hurt those truly great performers. Going online to watch other people's performances can be fun but if you do find a great performance, you only get 30 seconds worth.

Despite these minor negatives, Singstar is a fantastic karaoke system because the online integration allows immediate additions of new songs. It is a huge technological advance over previous karaoke games and will only get better as more songs are added.

UPDATE Nov, 2008: The first few months have yielded a very disappointing selection of songs to download. There are only about 10-15 songs released every 2 weeks and most are very obscure. Singstar needs to start churning out the releases even if it means having songs at different price points.
