Imo DBZ:RB2 is far less exciting and interesting as the budokai tenkaichi series [I think its safe to say the same about the original Raging blast as well]

The biggest problem with this game perhaps is the exclusion of a story mode. I understand that maybe they wanted to do something different with the games main course, but "Galaxy Mode" is virtually just random battles.

The mode isn't the least bit exciting or fun.

The animations of the game I found were good an bad. They are better then Budokai Tenkaichi of course with much smoother character models, but both are great for their platform.. There is a minor animation glitch that slightly annoys me though. That is when an opponent is smashed into the ground, and the pieces of earth/gravel come to surface. When this happens the character can walk and be seen going through it. So its not a part of the arena at all, and it completely disappears in about 3 seconds.

The controls of the game are decent. They should have modeled them more after the BT series though. Some buttons have the same action as the BT version of the game, but some don't. For example simply tapping "X" use to be used to dash forward. Now it is used to do a back-flip if too close to an opponent, and it is used to power dash (fly toward the opponent) when out of striking range. There are many "small" things with the controls that result to a moderate deal. This isn't a mere pick-up and play game also. You wont be doing that effectively. You'll have to check out the tutorial/practice modes to learn all the moves.

Further, customizing isn't anywhere near as in-depth as the BT series. You're limited to how many moves you can do in a fight(similar to the way "capsules" worked in the first dbz budokai), and every character has the same health. Three bars.

I'd also like to point out that there are no GT characters in the game. However, they do introduce a few new faces

(Tarble, Future Gohan, Nail, etc.)

I'd been itching to buy a DBZ game recently, as I'm a huge fan of the show, and I hadn't gotten to play a DBZ game since Budokai: Tenkaichi 3 a few years back, so I thought I'd get one of the more recent titles to see how things have progressed. On the recommendation of some people, I got Raging Blast 2, and I'm quite glad I made the purchase!

Admittedly, the story mode is nonexistent in this game (anyone looking for an actual story mode will have to look elsewhere, as it's replaced with "Galaxy Mode" and a few others, none of which are a true story mode), but the modes presented still provide hours and hours of fun for me. The Galaxy Mode provides quite a few challenges as you go through each character's "Galaxy" and complete different fights (and yes, they do have you doing memorable fights from the show, even if it's not presented within a story context), and I had a lot of fun with this, despite a few moments where the difficulty took a bit of a spike (mainly due to some of the fight stipulations that are in place for some of the harder levels).

It's fun even to just turn on the game and participate in a World Tournament or a simple one-on-one battle, due to the number of different characters, each with their own moves. I do wish they still boasted the roster size from some earlier DBZ games (I remember at least one of the BT series having characters from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, AND Dragon Ball GT, not to mention giant characters like Harudagarn (sp?), Janemba's first form, and the litany of Saiyan Great Ape forms), but the roster presented here is still deep enough for some variety, as most of my favorites are there, along with a few others (having a Super Saiyan 3 form for both Vegeta and Broly was surprising, and obviously non-canon, if you're a stickler for that, but still interesting additions to the roster).

As for the shipping/handling part of the purchase, I have nothing but good things to say about this seller -I was worried that it might take the entirety of the estimated shipping period since it was coming all the way from Texas, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did the game ship within that time, it came MUCH earlier than expected. It was here within just a couple of business days (two or three, I believe) from when I actually placed the order, well-packed, and in great condition despite me buying it used! I'll most likely seek out video game purchases from the same seller in the future, if they always handle their shipping this well.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoy playing this game, despite the lack of a true "story mode", and the seller did an excellent job of getting it in my hands as soon as possible -a great buy!

I love the dragonball Z franchise and have bought a ton of games over the years, i was really excited when burst limit came out because it was going to show what the power of the new systems could bring to a dbz game, however burst limit sucked in my opinion, it tried to play like the budikais as apposed to the tenkaichis but failed. Raging blast 2 however actually makes a really good game with a bunch of characters and amazing graphics. It plays slightly more like the tenkaichis but actually dose it well.

The price is what drew me to this product. Although the estimated time of delivery is about a month (which I am aware of when I ordered it since I suspected that it will be coming from a foreign country which it did), the product arrived in less than 2 weeks. It looks just like the one pictured and comes in a container that looks like the real branded item. However, the right stick and the square button are already not functioning properly.

Good looking product but the quality is extremely poor. It's a waste of money.

This game has been out for quite some time now but I've only recently had the pleasure of playing it and I can gladly say it was a fantastic experience.

The story begins simply as the game places your character, Isaac Clark, on a mysteriously deserted space station to investigate what happened. Of course things go horribly wrong and he ends up isolated on the station with a slew of parasitic aliens called necromorphs standing between him and escape. There is also a psychological twist as Isaac begins to hallucinate more and more as the game progresses.

The graphics are top-notch with high level of detail in both the environment and characters with no punches pulled on the gore effects. Minor details like the health meter being a part of the suit and the inventory screen floating in front of your character remove unnecessary HUD clutter that plagues games like Assassin's Creed and helps to make the game more immersive.

The sound in this game also impresses. The faint echo of an enemy walking through a vent in some distant pipe or of a demented man repeatedly hitting his head off of a wall can be quite disturbing thanks to the quality effects. The soundtrack is basically adequately creepy and doesn't really stand out but that's more than compensated for the effects made when crunching the bones and exploding the heads of your enemies.

Gameplay in Dead Space is excellent. More than a standard third person shooter, Dead Space gives you a variety of interesting guns to sever the limbs of your enemies. More damage is inflicted when severing the limbs of necromorphs adding a unique layer of strategy to encounters. The basic plasma cutter weapon, for example, can fire both horizontal and vertical shots to strategically aim at specific enemy body parts. Other weapons, like the cutter that shoots a floating saw blade in front of you for a few seconds, are less precise but very fun to wield. Exploring the environment is also a treat due to the ship's constantly changing unique atmosphere.

Summarily, Dead Space is an exciting and often terrifying thrill ride with tight third person shooter gameplay. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a game with an expansive creepy environment, elusively terrifying enemy encounters, or just good old third person shootin'.

Assassin's Creed 2 restored my faith in open world games. I've played every one of the AC games and each title has it's own strengths and weaknesses. Out of the entire lineup, Assassin's Creed III has some of the best characters and delivers one of the best stories in the series but not enough thought was put into so many important areas of gameplay that Assassin's Creed III turns into a flawed disappointment.

**THE GOOD**

-The characters are memorable. Here's the thing: Connor isn't Ezio, nor should he be. If you're looking for a wild, charismatic guy who flirts with ladies and does whatever he wants, then Connor is the exact opposite of that. In fact, I'd say Connor's personality is very true to his culture. If he acted like Ezio as a young boy, I'd imagine his people would have thought something was seriously wrong with Connor. His quiet and humble nature suits him well. The side characters have their moments as well. The interactions between Charles Lee and Thomas Hickey, as well and Haytham and Connor are very fun and keep the player in guessing what happens next. The characters on your Homestead are also very funny and a delight to help out from time to time.

-The story is also engaging. Seeing what you read as a kid during history class in elementary school brought to life and getting to play in that environment is amazing! Being a part of the Boston Massacre and The Battle of Bunker Hill seriously gave me a special feeling inside. I'm not a history buff or anything, but the amount of research involved with both story and characters is done exceptionally well. For non-Americans, I've noticed a large disconnect with the events that happen in the game. A few of my European friends that played the game have stated this and found the story pretty dull. So a person not familiar with early American history may find the story a bit boring.

-The naval battles are so much fun that it should have been the entire game. Just sayin'.

-Wolfpack mode is perfect for those that don't like the competitive modes in multiplayer. It's pure co-op and it can even be completed on a solo run if you have no one to play with. The player can earn all the multiplayer trophies/achievements strictly playing that mode if they really wanted to. I think it's a wonderful addition to the online portion.

-The Desmond stuff isn't bad this time around and he finally feels like an assassin for once.

**THE BAD**

-Gameplay is a mess. It's not bad, but it could have been much better. The free-running is the same as it always has been, but Ubisoft has never fixed the issue of running up things you never wanted to climb in the first place. This becomes a hair-pulling experience when it accidentally happens during chase portions of the game. Another problem is sometimes when you walk casually past some Red Coats, they become aware of your presence and will come after you for no reason! It doesn't matter if incognito is your status, sometimes they will go to full alert and chase you for no reason. Sometimes I'll be chased by Red Coats and will run by Blue Coats. Guess what? They start chasing me too! Why?! They're two opposing forces and they should be fighting each other, not acting like buddies and chasing me! Lastly, the guns feel like it takes a lifetime to reload during fights. I know it's more realistic that way, but when you really need to use something other than your fists in a fight, you'll most likely choose other options before picking gun due to the reload speed.

-Tutorials aren't really helpful. The fighting could have used more of an explanation and the gameplay involving the Assassins you recruit by liberating areas of NY and Boston could have been more thorough. The mechanics will be familiar to people that played Brotherhood and Revelations, but individuals that haven't picked up the game since AC2 may feel a bit lost.

-Fight mechanics should have stayed the same. The Batman games by Rocksteady are amazing when it comes to fight mechanics and it's understandable why Ubisoft have stated that the Arkham games were a big inspiration for the overhaul. Honestly, it's not good in AC3. I'm not even sure why the slowdown animation during the failed parry attack exists, because even if Connor doesn't press anything during the animation, he pushes the enemy back automatically so you're able to try your attack again. If your looking for cool Arkham style fight mechanics, go with the game Sleeping Dogs. Otherwise, this just feels dumbed down and makes me miss the fantastic fluid fights I had in the past AC games.

-Not enough climbing points in the frontier. Sometimes I'd want to perform a hanging attack using my rope dart, but unfortunately, I would rarely find a climbable tree near an enemy for me to do this with. Like, there are soooo many trees. Some of them are like a puzzle to find the exact beginning climbing point. Then there are other trees that are just there to take up space for design reasons and aren't climbable. It becomes annoying, especially when you're looking for a way to get the upper hand on taking down an animal or enemy from the above position. Finding crevasses to climb in the mountains can become equally frustrating for the same reasons.

-The bugs cripple the experience. Even with all the flaws I've listed, I still would have been able to recommend this game to fans of the franchise. However, there are too many random bugs that make me wonder if Ubisoft were too concerned about making the Fall quarter release date that the Assassin's Creed series is known for, that they also managed to forfeit the quality of their product. I've seen so many random bugs and glitches. I can't tell you how many times I had to restart my checkpoint just to fix some of the issues. Sometimes even markers on the map don't show up like they should, so it makes finding objectives harder. I'm sure over time Ubisoft will patch a lot of the issues that exist in the game, but until that day comes, I'd gladly recommend Brotherhood and Revelations over AC3.

**OVERALL**

Assassin's Creed III isn't a bad game by design. It's the glitches and bugs that make it a bad game. It also feels like a poor effort was put into some of the gameplay elements. Even though the influences from Batman: Arkham Asylum/City to Red Dead Redemption turnout to be lackluster, the originality found in the naval battles is something completely new and maybe should be looked at in future releases of the franchise. They really have something special going on there. I thought this would be my Game of the Year for 2012. Even after playing a great game as Borderlands 2, I still believed AC3 would take my top spot. Yeah...Assassin's Creed III doesn't even come close to my Top 5 this year. AC3 is an okay game, but it feels like a disappointment over what the past titles did as far as gameplay and it should have been much better.

AC3 had a huge amount of potential, a great story, and tragic flaws that made it more irritating to play than fun.

After Ubisoft milked Assassin's Creed 2 into 3 games, I said to myself that I'm not going to pay for this game. As luck would have it, I was able to check this title out at my local library... boy am I glad that's the case. I can't believe people actually had to pay $60 for this half baked game! It REALLY could have used several more months of development to iron out some of the game breaking bugs.

Pros:

1. Great story.

There's no way around it, this franchise has some of the best stories ever made for the gaming world. Although it's easy to see that there was never a mysterious Native American running around and influencing every major event during the period, the story of Connor is quite entertaining and interesting.

2. Excellent characters.

The voice acting for all the characters was very well done. I enjoy that they actually developed the Desmond story a little bit and let you run around quite a bit in the current time as Desmond.

3. Huge world.

There is a lot to explore and a lot to do in the world of AC3 and it looks amazing when the choppy frame rate isn't nauseating you.

4. Lots of side quests.

In AC3, you won't run out of things to do. There's always a side quest and they are well varied. You can trade, do ship missions, save citizents, go hunting, etc.

5. Naval missions are very fun.

The new addition of naval missions was well played and well executed. I enjoyed this facet of AC3 almost more than I enjoyed the actual game.

6. Frequent autosaves.

When the game freezes because of a bug and you have to restart your system, it at least remembers where you left off if you were in the middle of a mission.

Cons:

1. Frequently poor frame rates.

A lot of other reviewers said that this issue wasn't so bad for them. For me, it was a different story. The game would get choppy quite frequently and I often had to walk away for a few minutes because it made me dizzy. I never get any kind of motion sickness from visual stimulation, so this is a first for me when it comes to gaming. Maybe Ubisoft bit off more than the hardware can chew... but as experienced developers, they should be well acquainted with hardware limitations.

2. Riddled with bugs.

There is no doubt about it, even after patches, that this game has a ridiculous amount of bugs. If I didn't see this game on the shelves and played it, I would be convinced that it was a beta. I've had it randomly freeze on me about a dozen times, most often while on a mission. A few times, I tried to mount a horse next to a bush and got stuck inside the bush. Once, I fell through the ground and died. Needless to say, Ubisoft should not have released this game with this amount of bugs. I understand that there are a lot of challenges to overcome when making a game of this size... but that's why the consumer pays $60. No one is asking for a perfect bug-free game, but come on! This is just down right shameful.

3. Combat system has been ruined.

Previous AC games had a really good combat system, this one is irritating button mashing. Maybe I just haven't figured out how it works yet, but what I do know is that as long as you're holding circle you are invincible to everything but projectiles. Understandably, they have to make a lot of changes in a game to keep each new release fresh and innovative, but in this case they broke what didn't need fixing. I read an interview with one of the lead developers in a popular gaming magazine several months ago that they were re-thinking the combat system for AC3 to make it more fluid... I was genuinely excited to see all the cool combos, but all I got was a clunky button mashing experience that left a lot to be desired.

4. Menus are tragic...

The menus are confusing and difficult to navigate. It's often frustrating to figure out how to do something because there's no explanation as there was in previous AC games. Maybe I missed something...

5. Slow pace in the beginning.

The first several hours of the game are very slow paced and made me lose interest. There was too much tutorial that didn't teach you anything, left you confused, and didn't add much to the story.

6. Still running up random walls.

This has been a problem in previous games and there's been a lot of complaining about it, it's really irritating. I need not say more.

In all, this could have been a great game if it had more time in development. If Ubisoft wasn't so bent on milking us for our annual 60 bucks, I would have gladly paid for this game and would be eager to do so with the next iteration. Sadly, I will not pay for the next one either because it will also be a half done mess. Quite frankly, I don't think I'll even play the next one. I've been a fan of this series since the beginning, and they've finally lost me for good. I was disappointed by Revelations because they didn't really reveal or add a whole lot, and I'm disappointed with this one because it was just an expensive and messy beta (for those who bought it). I'm sure Ubisoft will go ahead and milk Connor until he's as dried up a skeleton as Altair was and only the quality of the franchise will suffer with everyone that forks over their cash...

First, I have not completed the game yet. I'm about halfway through. I am both incredibly pleased and impressed with parts of the game and mildly annoyed at others.

Here's the nerdy history guy's take: If you like history -particularly the American Revolution -you have never had a chance to experience such an accurate and detailed deception of life in colonial America. As someone who has been obsessed with everything related to the American Revolution, I felt like a kid in a candy store. Granted, you don't seem to actually participate that much in the actual events of the revolution, but you still get to experience the environment, architecture, etc. And you get to meet some influential Americans from the time. And take part in a couple battles (at least). The historical accuracy is both surprisingly great and stupidly wrong. Tiny details, like the humid horrid battle of Monongahela during the French and Indian War are surprisingly spot on -even down to steaming earth and soldiers grumbling about the weather. The flags in all the battles are represented accurately, as best I can tell. This is historically spot on -unlike the ridiculously inaccurate (but entertaining) movie The Patriot. However, the depiction of British and Colonial soldiers is not right at all. British dragoons lead foot soldiers on foot patrols with bright red uniforms? (Dragoons are mounted cavalry troops and wore bright green and white uniforms) British Highland troops did fight and wear kilts, but they fought in independent groups, not generally interspersed among random other troops. Also, every "musket" I have seen so far appears to be a Pennsylvania or Kentucky Long-Rifle. This is totally inaccurate. The Brown Bess was the primary musket used on both sides. Rifles played a very small (though important) part of the war.

So maybe that is nit-picking, but I promise that I'm actually omitting many of my other thoughts on this topic. All in all, for a popular mainstream game, this is a super valuable change to go beyond Johnny Tremain and The Patriot and get a more immersive feel for the tension and style of the time. (Just ignore all the Templar/Assassin mumbo-jumbo)

Also, for those of you on here complaining about the flintlock pistol being slow, its actually about twice as fast in the game as the best re-loaders of the time could achieve. Not too mention it never jams, misfires, blinds you, burns your hand, explodes, and always works, even if you fire it right after swimming around in the ocean. I know games take liberties, and I think this one is reasonable for the sake of game play. Still, all you whiners need to understand that tactics change. A pistol was typical only fired once in a battle with wicked inaccuracy. Even musket volleys in a full battle would generally only last a dozen rounds of so (if that). These battles were still won largely in hand-to-hand combat. The same goes for people complaining about the game becoming more Warrior's Creed than Assassin's Creed. I get it -it's called what it is for a reason -but you have to understand that this was kind of like the wild west only less developed. Somebody could commit a crime in Virginia, move to Connecticut, and no one would be any wiser. Assassinations out in the open was much more common than the clandestine periods depicted in the earlier games.

However, I am not just a historian, I also enjoy playing historical games. I've been a fan of the series and I think this game both delivered tremendously in certain respects, but also made for some really horrendously boring and tedious game play choices. The game also suffers from a small amount of gliches. I hope that they do continue to expand this series a little longer. While I'd love to see the war of 1812, I suspect they will move to France for their revolution. While I enjoy the American Revolution the most, I think the French Revolution might be slightly more conducive to the assassination nature and climb-on-roof tops style of the games that many fans have come to expect.

4 out of 5 stars for historical accuracy

4 out of 5 stars for game play

Read Best Reviews of Assassin's Creed III Here

WARNING: This review is being handled differently from my previous reviews in that there will not be an overall score and I won't be going into many of the overall game play and story. This will mostly just be a list of issues I've found with this game. This will probably piss some people off but this is based on my experience with the game. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from playing this game but if you know any of the things that I talk about in this note tend to piss you off, you might want to reconsider this game.

So yeah, Assassin's Creed 3 is the game I have been looking forward to all year long. The trailers have been amazing; the setting of the American Revolution is rather original for a game like this, an interesting new character to the Assassin's Creed series, and a time in history most Americans should be familiar with. This game had so much potential. Also it's been getting near perfect scores from several game review magazines and sites. I have to ask, what game have they been playing? Because the AC3 I've been playing is not a perfect scoring or high scoring game. I was so sure this was going to be game of the year material for me and it makes me so sad that I cannot even recommend it for a top 5 slot for games of the year. For me, this game is just not very fun most of the time. It's been mostly frustrating and stress inducing. That's not why people play video games and if that's why you play games then maybe you're a masochist. Very rarely have I had fun with this game. There is a lot to it, I'll give it that. It is a very big game and it is impressive in that aspect and it is a very beautiful game. Something like it hasn't been quite done before. Sadly, that comes with a price.

The graphics in this game, while beautiful, run into a lot of frame rate and slow down issues. There are times I've noticed in the cities where things just don't move so smoothly. You see slow down here and there in these massive areas. Not always but sometimes. Glitches are another issue. Granted, I've run into glitches in all the AC games (AC had some of the worst) but AC3 had some game stoppers. One involved me just running along and then I suddenly just fell through the ground and died. Another I hid in a pile of hay and got stuck in it, forcing me to restart the area I was in. More minor glitches include odd clipping, animals getting stuck in trees, and other silly things that you run into in open world games. Only a few of these glitches really hurt the game play but they were on the rare side. I can't help but feel that this game is just pushing the PS3 to its limits but the minor visual errors are minor compared to other problems in the game. UPDATE: A friend of mine experienced a glitch that prevented him from beating the game because a cutscene would not start.

Probably the biggest issue in the game is the new combat system. Wow! It sucks! It is a huge step back from the combat system from Assassin's Creed 2. The first thing I noticed when I got into a big fight was the camera: It doesn't follow your character. It just doesn't. You have to adjust it manually. When you got so much shit going on around you, you don't have time to adjust the damn camera. Something always seems to get in the of the camera too, be it a tree, wall, part of a building, ect. The combat itself feels less skill based. Every now and then, Conner will pull off some of the awesome finishing moves we saw in the trailers but I have no idea how I did them. I still have no idea how to use someone as a human shield and it is an almost mandatory move to know if you want to survive firing lines. The majority of the time you are hacking at the enemy's defenses and countering them whenever prompted. It becomes a button masher. A lot of times I would press triangle to try and counter because I am so used to the combat from Arkham City but that's my fault. There is also no real lock on method in this game. It seems to want to try lock on automatically in combat but it does a poor job. You end up missing your target or accidentally running up a wall or something. It's very frustrating and takes awhile to get used to especially if you are familiar with the combat system from the previous games. It took me about 10 hours of playing the game to get a hang of combat. There is no place you can go to practice like in AC2. You pretty much just have to go pick your own fights with British patrols and learn the hard way. Shooting and firearms have been added to the game which makes sense but the shooting mechanic is trick to get a hang of but once you do, it's pretty handy even though you have to deal with the slow reloads of the time.

The story is another issue and the one I have the most mixed feels about. I won't go into details or spoilers or anything but I will talk about the pacing. The first 5 hours of the game is very slow paced but does have a good pay off with quite the bombshell of a plot twist. Then it bounces around from being fast paced, to slow paced, and just jerks around a bit too much for my liking. Other people don't seem as bothered by it as much as me. It does have some good moments like some epic battlefield scenes and the naval battle missions that, thankfully, actually live up to the hype! You could make an entire game based around the naval missions and naval combat system. It's fun. But there are only three mandatory missions where you control a ship on the seas. There are side missions for this in addition the many, many, many diverse side missions you can find though out the game. There is over 70 hours of content in this game, so it's not short. You do get your money's worth in terms of content with this game. I usually had more fun just running around doing all these side missions than the actual main missions.

The next major issue I felt that goes along with the problem of the story's pace is that the first 7 hours feels like a very long and slow tutorial that spans out over this time. If you're a veteran of the series, some of this stuff isn't new to you but things like learn out to use the shooting mechanic could have been handled in a better way. You learn how to actually shoot your weapon in combat simple enough but right after that you have to shoot these powder kegs to blow open a door. Okay, simple enough. At this point you think pressing the triangle button will let you shoot at anything and L1 is what you use to manually aim. There is a wagon with these BIG barrels on it and the game just told you to shoot at the barrels so naturally you aim at try to shoot them but nothing happens. I sat there for like 5 minutes pressing every button on the controller trying to figure out why the shooting button just no longer works. Then I notice that if I drag the little aiming cursor over these small barrels below the big barrels, the small ones light up and I can actually shoot them. It doesn't tell you to shoot the little barrels that light up. WHY NOT?! I know for a fact I am not the only one who has had this problem! It's turn into a little meme on the internet, I think. The game has several moments of poor conveyance. It introduces new mechanics poorly such at the Battle of Lexington and Concord where you have to run back and forth between ranks and order Colonists to fire on the British. This is a really cool mission but when it starts they don't tell you how to give orders and it took me a few minutes to figure this out and ended up failing the mission a couple times. You have to stand in little circles that appear in order to give the commands. They could have made that much clearer. A lot of things could have been made clearer on how they work and this goes back to the combat system. You can't just equip whatever weapons you want when you want. You have to go to a general store (the place you most likely bought your weapons and equipment) and you can only equip things there. These general stores are not common you will only find two or three in the two main cities of the game, New York and Boston. If you know how to equip weapons in a different way, please let me know!

Every mission has sub-objectives to complete each synchronization and I HATE THESE THINGS! They are completely optional but if you're looking to complete this game 100%, you're going to have a bad time. Some of these are nearly impossible and half the time I end up failing them before I even know what they are because they only flash on the screen for a brief moment on the corner of the screen. They make missions unnecessarily difficult. If you want that kind of challenge, go for it. There is one where the game expects you to chase someone through a crowd without pushing anyone. Ha! Good luck with that. Speaking of chasing missions, they make for some of the MOST frustrating missions, especially this one near the end of the game. All of this stuff together ultimately leads to this game being very frustrating and just not as fun as it should be. There is nothing wrong with a challenging game but that challenge should be fair and not based on issues with the overall game play.

Now like I said this is all based on my game play experiences. Maybe you have or will have better experiences but for me, ultimately this game is a big letdown. Assassin's Creed 2 was just so much better in just about every way and was way more fun to play. If you are not familiar with Assassin's Creed, AC3 is not game to start with. Now I can't stress this enough, this is all my opinion. Maybe I just suck at the game and there is something I just completely missed and I am playing it wrong. Don't let this review completely steer you away from the game as it is something that should be experienced to a degree. This game is an impressive technical achievement in many ways and it is a HUGE game. It's just too frustrating and ultimately unenjoyable to me overall which is very disappointing as I was really looking forward to this game.

If you're a veteran of the series, this game feels off.

Many of the gameplay mechanics were changed from the earlier games. Some good (free run is automatic), some unusual (block using Circle button), and some beyond frustrating (rotate the camera to control your direction). If you rotate the camera to get a better view of the upcoming obstacles, Connor will cheerfully free run into a wall or off a cliff.

Since AC3 was in development prior/during the AC2 games, it's missing all those great little improvements that were added in AC2 Revelations (automatically walk with NPCs, bomb crafting, etc).

While it's cool that the AC3 voice actors are native speakers of the various languages, it doesn't mean they can actually act. Except Haythem, he could read the phone book and I'd be happy.

The main story line is forgettable at best. Connor may have helped win a few key battles, but it's hard to tell how much impact riding a horse back and forth between 3 circles had on the actual outcome. If you turn the camera to watch the actual battle, your horse runs into rocks/trees and the guys depending on you to reach their little circle just stand there patiently getting shot while you try to maneuver around the impenetrable bushes of the Boston wilderness.

The side quests are designed to turn you into a tourist, literally walking to designated spots just to get an animus journal entry. The architecture of the time didn't have towering cathedrals or crumbling ruins, so this game doesn't have the same visual impact as the earlier ones. It also means many of the free run paths are ground based, unless you're in the forest.

Thank god for the naval missions. These side quests have the best characters and story arcs of the entire game. I often find myself grinding through the main story just to unlock the next set of Privateer Contracts or pirate treasure hunts.

If you can, wait for the price drop. There's some cool moments but this is hardly a must have game.

I evaluate this game in three parts (playing at "normal" level):

1. exploration/discovery

2. tasks

3. dueling

1. exploration/discovery 5 stars

Hogwarts castle and surrounding scenery are truly spectacular on the PS3. Everything from the owlery to the Gryffindor common room to the grand staircase is amazingly detailed and beautifully rendered. As a fan of the series, it was a joy to seek out the nooks and crannies, gain "discovery points", and feel like I really lived there.

2. tasks 3 stars

The tasks in the first half of the game were my favorite finding all the students in the DA. These tasks gave me a reason to explore the castle and grounds, and find hidden objects and secret passageways. They also required improving my spellwork using the PS3 controller. I found some of the tasks after Christmas tedious, however, and sometimes I felt bored or downright irritated (especially when tasks required too much repetition.)

3. dueling 1 star

Here's where the game really missed an opportunity. I thought I was practicing my spellwork with all those tasks so I could become very good at dueling when the time came to meet Voldemort, Malfoy, and other baddies. Instead, it felt like the game practically took over for me, and I'm not sure I had much influence on what happened (although I do cast a good protego!) This was a shame, because OOTP has good fight scenes.

My game has hung once, and charms practice in Prof Flitwick's classroom has a bug and doesn't work properly.

I'm still pleased to own the game overall, for the sheer fun of "being at" Hogwarts and discovering fun treasures and clever rewards (I love the prefect's bathroom!) I also love seeing all my old favorite characters and hearing the real voices of the actors and the wonderful music. EA put a lot of effort into the game. They missed in some places and exceled in others. For fans, I'd say it's worth the investment.

Bought this for my son for christmas but discovered he had already completed the game for the Game Testers Club he goes to. So have returned it. He enjoyed the game but felt it was a little too quick and easy for him (he's 13). Probably better for a younger child who make take longer to complete it.

This "game" sucks. The castle and grounds are really well-done and it was fun to explore.... for about 30 minutes; after that, there really was nothing going on but a weak story and a lot of mundane chores. Also, not being to control the camera angle was aggravating on many levels. I often found myself wanting to blast Ron and Hermione for being constantly in the way and contributing nothing. Chamber of Secrets, with the poor graphics and all the cartoonishness was 10 times more fun because it, at least, had some challenge to it. Save your money.

I recently bought a PS3 after not playing video games for years. Since I'm a big Harry Potter fan, I bought this game since it was the most rated among the Harry Potter series. I'm about 60% through the game and the challenges that Harry goes through in this game are mostly ver boring. They're mostly comprised of figuring out ways to climb on top of things and retrieve items. I had expected that the game will provide for some exciting challenges / puzzlers like the actual books / movies do. I would give the graphics and Hogwarts visualization a 4 star, so all in all I think the game is just mediocre. If you can get it for $10 or less, go ahead and try it out, not worth more than that to me.

I was a little skeptical this game would live up to the hype. Then some diminished reviews came around and I was already feeling a let down. Where could they go wrong? Was my thoughts. Well that didn't stop me from purchasing this game. After 30 minutes I was blown away. All skepticism was gone and I was in Gamer Heaven.

Let me start off from the beginning. Yes there is a plot twist and it's pretty bizarre. Just think that your watching a Michael Crichton movie and it will make sense. Playing in the Middle East several hundred years ago is a different idea. It's hard to say what you could expect with this concept.

So what makes this game amazing. Lets start off with the landscape. It's brilliant and beautiful...Really majestic. You don't understand the scope of this game until you start playing. The world is surrounded by several small villages and three large cities. The only way to travese this open terrain with a horse. Fortunately they are about as easy to find as a car in todays society.

What also sets this game apart is the ability to do what you want when you want. There is no clock on you and your not stuck going into a mission. Everything is open based. The character is amazingly fun to control you can scale tall buildings and make amazing leaps of faith. Climbing up a building that is several stories and then leaping to certain doom is breathtaking excitement. This is what games should be about.

Beyond that is a mission based game. Similiar to Grand Theft Auto in style. You can accept simple missions like pickpocketing and protecting citizens to the more main based assasin missions. You can battle soldiers if you want as you have many enemies but it's not really advised. Following the assasin missions can be complex and involve several steps that make the story very intresting. Obviously a lot of time was put into making this top notch.

For anyone who likes open based games with large environments then Assassins Creed is for you. From the majestic peaks to the clustered cities. This is trully a next gen experience. The storyline and incentive program will keep you playing for many hours. Definately a worthwhile gameplay experience. If you want something to keep you busy that doesn't involve guns go out and get Assasins Creed.

Assassin's Creed

Ubi Soft has become known to me as a company that puts out products they promise. When they state the game will display certain features, they deliver in spades. Assassins Creed is no different from this rule. They promised a new distinct control system, done. They promised a diverse and exciting way to explore the open environments they created, done and done. They said this game would make you feel like an assassin with iron in his veins and skill in his actions, well they didnt promise that, but its their too.

This game is a marvel to be seen, with your own eyes, while you control every move on the screen. And I mean every, the controls let you do more than just button mash. You are the assassin. If you own a next gen system, you should own this game. The grace and precision that the lead character, Altair, uses to climb and leap his way through the large cities presented here is in one word, amazing.

Never have I seen anything like this in my years as a gamer. I couldnt stop exploring and killing, because every minute spent, feels new and fresh. I simply adored this game since it was announced and I love it more that I have played it. Dont get me wrong though, the game has a few flaws, but the creators put so much in it, that they are easily either excusable or passed over because you are to busy to catch them cause you are having so much damn fun with what is awesome about it.

I am a huge fan of UBISOFT and their gem of a franchise titled Assassin's Creed is no exception. I have owned/played this game on all three platforms namely Playstation 3, Xbox360, and PC. In my Opinion the PS3 version is by far the best and that is if you have configured your console correctly to your HD television.

Altair is an awesome main character to play as it really contributes to bringing the Holy Land to life and immersing you in a epic tale like no other ever told before through a video game. The Limited Edition is the way to go with an extra blueray disk with all kind's of special features taking you behind the scenes and dragging you more into the life of an assassin. The only complaint i had was UBISOFT could of included a bigger and not so cheaply made figurine. With this aside the game is so good that i can look past this minor flaw and appreciate the graphic art and story put behind altair and the world around him. A must have game on any console!!!

I'm sure some will decry my statement about this game, but I was disappointed with this game as a whole. Yes, the visuals are stunning and intricately detailed. Yes, it does have some innovative control schemes. It is also very fun to be able to climb any building around. So what do I NOT like about this game???? Well...first of all, after completing 3 assassinations, I found myself doing the same things over and over and over: Come into new town and find several high spots to scout out the surroundings, rescue citizens from harassing soldiers, pickpocket things from certain people in town, eavesdrop on conversations to get information. Everything about this game looks great when you first get into it, but after you get a good ways into the game, it seems you are living in "Groundhog Day". I was really looking forward to the release of this game, so I really don't like giving it a 3. However, after playing through a few levels, I have lost interest in even completing the game. I hate to say it, but this game was a HUGE letdown for me. I would suggest renting it and playing through a couple of towns before buying.

Other reviewers have noted that the game feels really repetitive and that they lost interest in completing the game. I agree (I have competed the game so that I could write this review), but want to emphasize that the negative "feel." I feel very disconnected from the character. This results from

(1) his movement ... sometimes he feels heavy and slow, it's frustrating to move him. The free run parts are exciting but they are not that interactive;

(2) the miniquests ... these are redundant, and resort to "timed challenges" to add difficulty which IMO is a bit of a cop-out. The deeper problem is that the mini-quests aren't longer run character choices they're just random events that don't really involve the mission you're doing except you for a few random lines of dialog.

(3) the action/stealth ratio ... I realize bought a game called "assassins creed" I thought the point of the game would be stealth kills and daring escapes. As it turns out, a lot of the kills are not stealth, but after big battles. There's no "economy of violence" principle forcing you to limit your killing (like thief and Splinter Cell had), there's no penalty to you at all for killing, in fact the game guides you to enter into big high-publicity fights. This part of the game just doesn't tick the way it should.

(4) no real risks ... my character has a lot of health. I can battle thirty people and be OK, or jump from a big ledge and lose most of my health only to recover it in a few seconds.

(5) Annoyances ... there is a lot of recurring sound bits. These take me out of the game.

The assassination missions are OK. They do get progressively harder, but more through battle elements than through stealth elements.

The game is a pretty decent fight and explore game, and the cities are pretty and the free-running is fun, but the game design has some major flaws.

I recommend you rent this before you buy it to see how you like it. If you're really interested, I think you'll see a lot of used copies available soon (not all of them played to completion).

This game has been out for a long time. How can I be the first to review it?

Just so you know, as of this writing we have not finished the game but so far it has been a lot of fun.

Graphics are really pretty good. It's no Fable 2 or Metal Gear 4, but very appropriate for my young gamers. My 5 year old can play through level after level with no assistance. But then she is a video game prodigy.

There is some violence, hit the bad guy, push him in the water, etc.

Controls are well done. A lot of the buttons and shoulder buttons are used but it's reasonably easy to control.

For it's market, I'm surprised at how good the game it. Better than the average movie game.

Just to give a number, perhaps 7.5 out of 10.

Plus it's FUN!

Playing Bolt is fun. The game is based on the Disney movie of the same name, which my whole family enjoyed very much. The game is a companion piece to the movie. You play Bolt and Penny as the fictional characters that they portray in the movie. Basically you play one of the tv episodes from the movie. Bolt the videogame is therefore a new original story, but not much of the story. The premise is that Penny's Dad is captured, and she and Bolt try to save him, thats the story in the nutshell.

The graphics are good, but I have seen PS3 showcase better graphics in other games. You take turns playing as Bolt and Penny. When you play as Bolt, you go through the levels fighting all the enemies that stand in your way. It is very fun using Bolt's super powers, and some fights can get challenging even for adults. It can get repetive towards the end of the game, but I always found myself going back for more. The Penny levels is what makes this game shine. Her levels required you to be stealthy and to get to places using her wheelie thing. Penny levels never got repetive, and actually get a little challenging towards the end. The alteration between Penny's stealth levels and Bolt's action levels works just right, as when you start to feel fatigue playing Bolt levels, you get switched to Penny levels.

The end movie is kind of disappointing, but I guess it has to end the way it does, because it is only an episode within the tv show.

Overall, I would recommend this game for $20 (price that it is selling for now). It also makes for a good rental. I also think that this is a kid friendly game.

Review for the purchase: As always, shipping fast. Item exactly as described. Love Amazon.

Review for the game: Honestly, I only bought the game because it was marked down to $8 and I had a $10 game credit for purchasing GT5 that was about to expire, making the game free. The game is really just okay for all ages. It is too slow for adults, too much for my 4 year old, and doesn't interest my 11 year old. My 4 year old likes the game, but every level requires you to execute a new move, so she loses interest. She just wants to play. I know this sounds silly, but really, why not just have 5 to 10 core moves and that's it? Perhaps a special optional move? Every level the game stops you and you "have to" press a very particular combination, such as Square-Square, Circle, Square, X, R2 or you can't get through that scene. Again, the game tells you what you need to press, but honestly you need to be fast. What ends up happening is I have to get through that stuff for her.

Back in 2004, Killzone was originally released. Unfortunately, Killzone had been over hyped by the gaming media to an almost ridiculous point. This was supposed to be Sony's answer to Halo. Some had even dubbed it the "Halo killer." It was no surprise that the game failed to live up to the expectations that had been set for it. I bought this game day one at my local Gamestop, and I fell in love with it. It was buggy, and wonky. There was no jump button, and the story was not exactly the stuff of legends. But there was something about it that kept me coming back time and time again. I played through the campaign probably 3 or 4 times. Then I moved on to the PS3 in 2008, and I left behind Killzone for a while. I played through the superb 2nd game, and the fantastic 3rd game. Every time I played through a new Killzone game, I wanted to be able to play Killzone. I had long since given my PS2 to my parents, and they used it as a DVD player exclusively. I waited, and I waited. Last year they announced that there was a planned release of Killzone via the PSN as a PlayStation 2 classic title, and I was overjoyed. Then it was unceremoniously delayed. Then, Sony announced that HD port of Killzone, and this trilogy pack. It's a fantastic set, to be sure. For the price you get 3 complete games, plus all the DLC for KZ 2 and 3. All this for 40 bucks is steal. But, how is the HD transfer for Killzone?

First off, while it is on the disc, you must first install the ENTIRE game onto your PS3 before you can play it. While the file remains on your PS3, you cannot play it without the disc. So technically, it's not really on the disc. It's on your PS3, and the disc is merely the key to access your content. Now, the game is still a buggy mess at times. But damn it, is it fun. The graphics definitely look dated, and the game play is stiff compared to todays FPS. The cutscenes are not remastered, and quite frankly, they look like crap. To my surprise, there are still a few hiccups when there are to many enemies on the screen, but nothing too alarming. One thing that they did absolutely correct is the fact that you can COMPLETELY customize the controller layout. It's fantastic. So, my impressions so far is that Killzone is exactly what I remember it to be. A game that manages to entertain despite many misgivings. It will definitely be fun to replay those later missions as all the different characters.

I was kind of tempted to say that this was a cash in, but look at the package. It's three complete games, plus DLC for 40 bucks. If anything, I felt like I ripped somebody off.

Recommended.

I played Killzone 3 briefly when I bought my current PS3 model, and I only played it online (I found it only "OK" online personally). I recieved this gift for Christmas along with the Sharp-Shooter accessory to utilize for Killzone 3. As a collection, this is a bargain and a great complete experience.

Killzone 1 is dated, obviously, but it allows you to play through the same story as 4 different characters with notable differences between all the experiences. I got a platinum in that game and loved every minute of it even though I played through it 4 times. It feels solid and though the control scheme is a little dated, it works just fine.

Killzone 2 is hard as nails. It's a pretty game with good voice acting and an interesting series of events that drives the story. You have 2 characters from Killzone 1 show up and create a generally great experience.. though again, hard. Don't expect to get a platinum in this one.

Killzone 3 is visually great, I felt the quality of the voice acting was worse than Killzone 2 (but that wasn't significant), and it supports the Sharp-Shooter accessory (along with 3d). I'm a huge PC gamer and usually reserve that platform for my shooters I usually don't Love console shooters. Killzone 3 with the sharpshooter and 3d turned on provided some of my favorite moments in a console shooter, ever.

The sharpshooter isn't perfect but when it works as intended it feels awesome.

The game itself is very interesting and the plot drives the story. The online is pretty solid though if you're big into Call of Duty or Halo you probalby won't care for it too much (It's very different in a good way generally). I haven't tried the sharp-shooter online but I imagine it would either be a major advantage or a major burden, all dependent on how good you are at moving and shooting at the same time with it.

The online has very cool classes with the great idea that no class should just be a 'soldier'. There is a Tactician, Infiltrator, Medic, Engineer and Sniper. The Tactician and Infiltrator are the closest you'll get to your traditional soldier but they definitely aren't. You'll encounter a great variety of classes when you play online because they all genuinely have advantages and disadvantages. Even the sniper, who can literally turn invisible, does not feel the least bit overpowered compared to the other classes abilities.

3 great games, a little more than 10 bucks each... If you've ever been curious about Killzone you should definitely pick this up and give it a shot. It's a great series and this is a great collection.

Buy Killzone Trilogy Collection Now

I own all three Killzone games, individually, for the Playstation systems. So the main reason I purchased this trilogy set, was so that I could get the DLCes for Killzone 3 (which I did not have), and the updated version of Killzone for the PS3.

Playing Killzone on the PS3 was definitely a blast from the past, and reminded me of why I got hooked on the franchise back in 2004 when it was released. The updated graphics don't hide the fact that the game was developed for an older system or released almost a decade ago, but it does make it more enjoyable playing on a new TV or an LCD monitor. Also, GG just ported the original game in all its PS2 glory to the PS3, so whatever glitches, complaints, or broken mechanics you stumbled across in Killzone back in the day, then they are still there to give you that unique and interesting gameplay experience you have tucked away in your memories.

As for Killzone 2 & Killzone 3, there aren't any changes; it's just both games released on one disc. If you have never played any of the Killzone games or if you are missing that one game for you personal collection, then this is an excellent purchase, since you can get all three games and there accompanying DLC to relive the Killzone story and prepare for Shadow Fall when its gets released.

A word of warning about the DLCes; my voucher (as well as my brother's voucher for this trilogy) said the code expires October 2013. So, I'm assuming the DLC voucher is a limited time offer, and if you were planning on picking up the trilogy strictly for the DLC, then you might want to get it before October.

Back in the early 2000s, Bungie's console sci-fi first person shooter "Halo" was pretty much the benchmark for the genre on consoles. Halo's slick controls and graphically impressive presentation helped keep the Xbox's head above water long enough for it to garner a decent amount of publisher support over time. As one would expect, Sony, as Microsoft's main competitor, wanted its own answer to Halo, and in the years in-between Halo and Halo 2, Sony developed and promoted a so-called Playstation 2 exclusive "Halo-killer" called "Killzone". The result was a game that had a lot of promise, but was too ambitious for the relatively underpowered PS2. Killzone was actually not a bad game at all, but suffered from atrocious frame-rates, buggy presentation, poor draw distance, and a sluggish feel. Despite these failings, Sony doubled down on the potential of a Killzone franchise, and released Killzone 2 for their next system, the PS3. Despite the scandal of an early E3 presentation that was actually a "target render" and not real gameplay, Killzone 2 managed to at least get within striking distance of what was promised, and was a fair success. Killzone 3 followed within a 2 year window, and established the series as a worthy Sony exclusive. With this collection, not only do you get the PS3 entries, but you also get an HD rendition of the original PS2 Killzone on disc, and all for $40, along with a voucher to download the DLC for the PS3 games, for less than the price of a single new game.

For those who haven't ever played a Killzone game, but like FPS games, this is sort of a no-brainer; it's easily worth the money for the reasons I'll outline below. For those who already are invested in the franchise, and have both PS3 games, it's a trickier proposition, and your decision will probably hinge on whether it's important to you to have a hard copy of Killzone HD (as it's currently available through PSN). In regards to the quality of Killzone HD overall, it's actually a pretty good update, all things given. Like most "HD updates", much of the improvement comes down to using a natural high definition resolution, increasing clarity greatly. In this case, it also appears that Guerilla Games used the original assets, that had been downgraded for the PS2 version, but are present here as they would've intended if the PS2 had been powerful enough to handle them. Sure, the cinematic cutscenes, like most HD game reissues, are pretty wretchedly low-fi, but the gameplay itself runs at a very consistent framerate, with clearer textures, and markedly improved draw distance. Occasionally, you'll still encounter the embarassing moment when hitting the magazine reload button or fire button glitches out, and nothing happens, but overall, this is probably the game Sony and Guerrilla wanted to release in an ideal world.

Gameplay-wise, the Killzone trilogy may have been marketed as an answer to Halo, but is, in reality, much more akin to the Call of Duty series. Killzone 1, which takes place mostly on the Earth-like colony of Vecta, feels much like a futuristic take on the first Call of Duty (and its predecessors, the early Medal of Honor titles), with a taste of the Red Faction franchise thrown in. As you fight your way through the Vectan capital initially, and then through beaches, jungles, swamps, forests, snowy mountains, and whatnot, you end up building up a 4 person squad, and depending on the level, have the choice of which member to play as. Each member has different abilities, which can effect which route you take through the level. It's a pretty straightforward shooter which eschews Halo-esque vehicle use in favor of various types of infantry combat. The AI is a bit dopey, but overall you'll get a fair amount of gameplay here. There's also a botmatch mode, that allows the solo player to simulate a multiplayer experience (unfortunately, this version doesn't have true multiplayer, which would probably be redundant anyways).

Killzone 2 is a much more cinematic and hard-hitting experience, taking place on the enemy world of Helghan during a botched invasion, and reflects the cinematic turn the Call of Duty franchise took between Call of Duty 2 and the Modern Warfare sub-franchise. Obviously, as a PS3 native game, it's much better looking, although the environment is less lush and more harsh and hostile than its predecessor. The game is much more focused on changing up the experience from moment to moment, and "palette-cleansers" such as turret shooting from a hovering battleship and using a mech emphasize the shift to a more "produced", if linear, experience. The multiplayer has been revamped, but still includes a botmatch option. This time around, a match essentially incorporates mutiple types of matches, that change each time a team wins. Killzone 3 matches Call of Duty's eventual total shift towards impressive, but restrictive, cinematic spectacle, with set-piece moments littered throughout the campaign. It's a memorable ride, but shorter and somewhat shallower than its predecessors. Still, it closes the campaign with a memorable starfighter sequence, and for the amount you pay for the collection overall, it's hard to complain too much. Killzone 3's multiplayer once again includes a botmatch mode for those who want the experience without being insulted by Mountain Dew-addled teens, and is a further refinement of what came before.

While the series as a whole is pretty entertaining, there are still a few caveats. The "heavy/sluggish" feel of movement can be a bit of a turnoff to those accustomed to the lighter, and frankly, more responsive feel of other shooters, while the fact that they didn't include the DLC on the disc itself is a real disappointment for those who want some permanency without relying on Sony's maintaining the content on servers for the next few decades. The Killzone games are reliable fun, but always feel a bit "off" in the polish department, especially when it comes to the dunder-headed audio when characters speak. In addition, the dingy/gritty look of the environments may be an aesthetic that is an acquired taste for some. As a side note, you will need to install Killzone HD on your hard drive from the disc, so make sure you have enough spare room on your console. Overall, though, this collection houses some pretty solid shooter action, and for Killzone newcomers who are intrigued, is a very safe bet.

I had never played any of the KZ games before purchasing this trilogy, so my opinion of it is colored by having first experienced other shooters (like COD and Halo). I'll also mention that my review focuses on the campaigns, as the online multiplayer just isn't my style.

Killzone 1 was a very simple, no-frills game that was fun but with telltale signs of its age. Casual gamers will enjoy the simple controls while others may notice the poor AI and (at times) unclear objectives.

Killzone 2 makes its improvements immediately clear with hugely updated graphics and passing attempts to fill in some of the vast gaps in backstory. With the 2nd installment, KZ finally feels like a modern shooter. It's a great action game with interesting backgrounds and a few very unique missions that all FPS fans will enjoy. The only thing I didn't like about KZ2's action is the never-ending enemies. Until you move up to the magic geographic marker, the bad guys will just keep pouring out.

Killzone 3 is the most action-packed installment yet. In my opinion it took everything great about Killzone 2 and improved upon it with even greater mission variety, epic set pieces, and non-stop action. The AI is improved and there's no more "endless waves" of enemies.

All in all, this was a great buy and a series that I had a ton of fun playing through. It's gotten me excited for the upcoming PS4 installment despite the weak storyline.

With much of their property already harvested for the 3 previous entries in the Family Game Night series, Hasbro have scraped the bottom of the barrel and come up with video-game versions of Boggle, Connect 4, Sorry, Yahtzee, and Bop It. The game show format, taken from the real-life Family Game Night that airs on US channel The Hub, keeps everything very short and superficial so the game is only good for a quick distraction instead of something you can invest a hour in.

The featured games, and their alternates, are as follows:

Bop It!

A lot like Twister from Family Game Night 3. All you have to do is hit the right buttons on cue. The AI of the computer opponent is terrible so you can beat it in less than 30 seconds.

Bop It! EXTREME

The exact same only with a couple of extra button functions.

Boggle Flash

The only game in the show that requires any skill. There are five letters on the table, each letter makes a point, first player to reach 25 points wins.

Boggle Flash: FIVE LETTER

No computer opponent. You must make as many five-letter words as you can in a time limit.

Connect 4 Basketball

You throw basketballs into the grid. A tiny bit of skill is required in order win, but it's mostly random where the balls end up.

Connect 4 Basketball: SPEED SHOT

Exact same only you can throw as many shots as you like instead of both players waiting for their turn.

Sorry! Sliders

A sort of lawn-bowling type of game where you slide your pewter token onto a scoring ring. It's a very slow game and the least enjoyable.

Sorry! Sliders: SUMO

The same game with sumo wrestler pieces on the scoring ring that you need to bash out the way.

Yahzee Bowling

A bowling ball knocks over dice pins where you decide which to keep and which to roll again. Absolutely zero skill is required to play this game. It is completely random.

Yahzee Bowling: CRAZY LANE

The exact same except for 3 extra dice pins on the lane. Still no skill needed.

The alternates are not optional for play in the game-show format, only separately. As for the game-show format itself, you receive a Monopoly cash card for every game you win, which is added up at the end. This seems like a fair method of scoring but the totaling scene at the end takes AGES, as well as being completely unfair and making absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Family Game Night 4 feels very rushed and unfinished. From a visual standpoint it looks like 2006 shovelware for the Nintendo Wii. There are graphical errors all over the place and some elements are clearly very low-res GIF files blown up to larger proportions. Not what you expect or want from an HD console.

It's worth getting for the trophies they give away by the bucketful. The most difficult of which is 'Super Star' which requires 50 episodes to be completed. It's a grind, and I recommend you go for this first as you'll probably get most of the others in the process. Don't bother going any in the individual games first, it'll just waste time.

It is a cute game, and my husband and I like to play it. But I got it for our 5 year old who loves the latest game night with mouse trap and life. He had no problems playing all of those games, this one is just to hard for the little guy :( So not as fun or good as we had hoped for the family. Cute for people with older kids.

This game is an absolute blast to play. My boyfriend and I have played all the different games on this game for hours. We are both over 20, so that shows that it's a good game no matter what age plays. It's great to play for just 2, or for 4! Great family game, lot's of fun!

When you play this edition of Family Game Night, it feels like EA rushed the processing, and threw it out on the market before it was finished.

I felt like it was more of a sample of a game, rather than a complete game.

If you want a great FGN, buy the FGN 3, not 4.

First thing I want to touch on is Collectors Edition vs. Regular Edition. Last time I tried to put actual price tag numbers in an Amazon review it was censored, so I'll just say take a look, you know Collectors Edition costs quite a bit more than the regular. Is it worth it?

Only if you're a hard-core collector. You get a very beautiful lithograph. Stunning artwork. I may even have to frame it. The comic is nice. Not great, just, nice. It's not so much of a self contained story as much as it's a kind of mural that serves to get you into the story. It's really short, probably not worth a second read. Same with the DVD. It has some really interesting vids about the making of the game and some interviews. It's surprisingly lengthy, but winds up amounting to extras you get on any DVD that you watch once and never again. So that's a rundown of the Collectors Edition extra's. Decide for yourself if you think that's worth it. I like the litho. Everything else I watched/read once and that's it. And the litho, beautiful as it is, probably wasn't worth the extra $$$. Now for the actual game.

Violence:

This seems to be the big sticking point for most MK fans. Most of the people who have something bad to say about this game, it boils down to "they toned down the blood and gore. It's the end of the world!" Well, there is still blood in here and there are still fatalities. Are they toned down from previous MK games? Most definitely! Probably only the first MK game on the SNES would be less bloody. Midway had to tone it down to a Teen rating in order for DC to get on board with the game. But like I said, there is still blood and Fatalities. They really do push the Teen rating to its limit. So parents may still want to be aware. But gamers, unless you're a total gore-hog who has to have the bloodiest, goriest games, this is still plenty brutal.

Controls:

First let me list my credentials on this. I played Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon on the Nintendo systems, all with the Gamecube controller. This is the first Mortal Kombat I've played on a PS3 system. So when I compare, it may or may not be an apples/oranges type thing. One thing I can definitely say is that the mutiple styles per character that was so prominent in the last three games is gone here. Everyone has the same basic move set (aside from special moves). This really does go back to the days before the 3-d games where, no matter what character you played, down and high punch equaled an uppercut, back and low kick equaled a leg sweep.

The past three games got so far away from that basic set up that you never knew what you'd get when ever you tried a new character. Would you get a high punch? Nope. Some kind of kick? Depends on what direction you're holding. It really was that haphazard.

Here they've stream lined it. MK vs. DC is very much taken back to the days of HP, LP, HK, LK. This should make it much easier for casual gamers who are either just getting into MK, haven't played MK in a long while, or are just here for the DC side of things.

Will I like it?:

I personally loved it. The controls are streamlined and easy. Even toned down for a Teen rating, there's no denying the MK roots. Online is very solid. Having wireless instead of wired connection tended to make me lag with other games. Here it's very smooth. If you like fighting games, get this. If you like Mortal Kombat (and aren't going to bemoan the fact that this is slightly toned down in the violence category), get this. If you like DC, get this. Five stars.

I haven't been a fan of MK since after MK II for the Arcades and Super NES. I've tried all the sequels but they just weren't for me, especially the last 4 for the PlayStation and PS2.

MK vs. DC brings this series back to it's roots and it's a lot of fun. The fatalities can be lame but they still do what they're supposed to give you closure to a hard fought victory.

The fighting engine is a little stiff but it doesn't hinder the game play and you get used to it relatively quickly. Besides, I found it more enjoyable that Soul Calibur 4.

Bottom lins is that the game is fun. I received it today and played through the arcade mode with Scorpion and I can't wait to play through it with the other 19 characters.

I hope Midway keeps this engine and fine tunes it for future MK releases. Here's also hoping that the next one is a mature game too. I like the DC characters though and this is a nice one-off game.

I purchased Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe because frankly, I'm a big DC fan. Ever since I had heard about the game in early 2008, I loved the thought that the DC characters would be playable in a fighting game but I was still somewhat skeptical about how it would turn out.

After buying the Kollector's Edition and playing it, I must say that this is now one of my favorite games of all time. The graphics are smooth, the fighting is brutal, and the ability to battle characters from both of these worlds is one of the best ideas in a long time (it's also executed quite well).

In terms of the Kollector's Edition, for those of you who don't care about the extra little comic book, cover art, and DVD with extras, that's fine. I think the die hard fans are the main ones that'll go for this. Regardless, rent or buy this game soon.

The only possible downside to MK vs. DC is the fatalities. Some are extremely watered-down while others are very good (for a T-rated game). Personally, I didn't mind because I'm not an MK fan and I think that throughout these past few years, fatalities have become just way too over-the-top and usually climax with an unnecessary explosion of flesh. Ick.

There's more than enough in this game to keep you engaged, however: Freefall Kombat, the "Test Your Might" minigames, Klose Kombat, and the physical damage that can be inflicted on the opponent (complete with visible blood, bruising, and cuts in the costume) is nothing short of impressive. Also, there's a Practice mode (highly recomended for first-time users which allows you to test out a character's moves), Kombo Challenge, and the story mode (which I haven't even played yet!).

Did I mention the online fighting?

All in all, a great game. Controlwise, I found it much easier to master than Super Smash Bros. Brawl (another good game but I like MK vs. DC more). It makes sense that the PS3 controller is easier for this game than the 360's so bear that in mind (unless you only have the 360).

The Kollector's Edition is worth it only if you want to fully embrace the experience but I suggest you rent the game first. If you really love it like I did, then without a doubt, this special edition package is the right choice.

I'm Mortal Kombat fan and I was expecting more about this game for PS3, too short the game, very poor the fatalities, big gap against the previous Armageddon and Deception (which I think that is the best one 'till today).

I've owned this title for awhile, but didn't realize it had received so few reviews. A great little racing-combat game for one or more players, Fatal Inertia delivers excellent graphics with a decent amount of options to customize your vehicle(s). Fairly addictive with a good physics/environment engine.

It may no longer be available via Amazon, but I believe it can be downloaded from the PS3 store.

Repetitive and boring would be a better way to describe the game. It's not at all any sort of free roaming racing because of the checkpoint system. I would definitely not recommend this game to anyone. Deleted a day after I installed it. Nothing to see here, move along.

These are a blessing in disguise. I purchased both sets, the stars for our Rock Band drums and the skulls for our Wii drums. They both fit nicely but they do not fill out the entire drum surface on the Wii like it does on the Rock Band drums. I just had to center them correctly and it left like a 1/4 inch gap from the edges. Nothing to really worry about since you don't really hit that section of the drum. The best part is that I no longer hear that BOOM BOOM of pounding of drums. Instead it is more like a tap tap. The pads adhere easily and stays in place. The drumsticks themselves are worth the asking price. They are solid and heavy duty. There is no issues with missing any notes, the pads due not cause any conflicts with the pad sensors.

A parent's must have!

These were sooo cool when we first got them. They looked great on the drums & they did help silence the noice. However, within 2 weeks time they one by one started to fall off because the sticky adhesive on the backs of them obviously was cheap. I DON'T reccommend these at all. :(

Buy Drum Pad Silencers / Bonus Drumsticks Now

These look cool and are easy to put on. However, dont really silence the drums much. The Drumsticks are cheaply made and very light and the part you hold is much fatter then average drum sticks. I would recommend the pads because they look cool but we never use the drum sticks.

Read Best Reviews of Drum Pad Silencers / Bonus Drumsticks Here

The skins came quickly and looked great. Very easy to install and they stick very well to the drum pads.

After just a day or two of normal use though I noticed the red pad started showing heavy wear. Huge cracks and holes that make the pad look torn and not silenced as well as the others.

The drum sticks look and feel great. Light and smooth. Much better than the sticks that came with the Rock Band 2 kit.

Still searching for the perfect pads that muffle the loud sound and wrap around the outer rim that makes such a horrible sound when it is hit.

Might see if my wife can knit something up that works better than these.

For the price, getting the pads for just a few months and getting the better drum sticks makes it worth the trouble....

Want Drum Pad Silencers / Bonus Drumsticks Discount?

While these do look really cool and the colors are more visible the pads did not last long. We had them a few weeks before the adhesive backing let go and they started to slip around on the drum head. Once that happened they never stuck again. The printed graphics started to crack and the foamy/neoprene like material the pads are made of was easily gouged. The drum sticks are holding up ok. They are lighter then the plain wooden ones that came with our RB2 set.

I wouldn't order these silencers again and would return them if it wasn't such a hassle.
