This game is compatible with the US PS3. If you are having a problem, the problem is either with the TV you are using or the cables you are connecting your PS3 to your TV with. Since this is an European version, it will not display on an old SDTV with the standard AV cables that come with the US PS3 system. I have not tried component AV cables, but I doubt that would work since it outputs at standard NTSC as well. It does work with HDMI cables linked to a HDTV. If you do not have a HDTV, get the download version off the Playstation store.

Update: Another difference I have found is with the download-able content available from the Playstation store. The extra content including item packs and extra dungeons will only work the the download version of the game from the Playstation store. It is not compatible with the physical European copy.

It was the best investment I have ever put in a game. I was able to get over 200 hours of gameplay in this game just to beat it the first time. And the game has a very interesting New game+ that keeps it interesting to repeat in order to get all of the trophies. I have already bought Agarest Zero and Can't wait til Agarest Senki 2 comes out in English (IF it comes out...). Wonderful Game!

Note: You need an HDTV with an HDMI Cable connected to the PS3 for this game to work. This disc IS compatible with the U.S. PS3 Consoles.

this version of Record of Agarest War is for you. For a mere $5 more than what a PSN download would have cost, I got this physical European copy of the game. The game has English subtitles, so PS3 gamers who hate to read might want to pass this one by. The game comes with a black-and-white game booklet in English. It works awesome on my 1.5-year-old fat PS3 and Samsung digital TV using an HDMI cable. I've only invested a couple of hours into the gameplay and am having a bit of difficulty getting used to how the combat system works, hence I've removed a star. For anyone seeking out an RPG strategy game, this should satisfy until the next one comes along.

Works with the US PS3 and has english subtitles. Like the other reviewer, I rather buy physical copies of games and not have to download the game off the PSN. If you don't own an Xbox, get the ps3 version!

I'm going to start by saying, all in all.. I really like my fight-pad controller. I've played Street Fighter 4 since release and then moved to Super Street Fighter 4 upon it's release. I consider myself a generally serious SF player, as I play in local tournaments, play on arcade machines, and own a tournament edition joystick controller for the game. I became interested in the fight-pad controller after I purchased the tournament edition joystick ($140). After many months of using the joystick, it just never felt "right" to me. The joystick itself felt too heavy and just generally wasn't what I wanted to use when I played the game. I was hesitant to buy the fight-pad controller, because it is Madcatz brand and inexpensive. Madcatz is a company that makes notoriously HORRIBLE quality products. Ever since the 1990's, they've made copies of official controllers and various video game controllers... all of which usually break in mere days of normal use, don't work upon purchase, or are just complete low quality garbage. I must say, I hate Madcatz as a company and hope that they do end up going out of business. However, this fight-pad controller is a gem among garbage in Madcatz products. I started using it as soon as I received it in the mail and noticed a problem with my d-pad sticking. I ignored it and continued playing for about a week, the d-pad would get stuck maybe once every 4 hours or so, every time that I would play the game. (Once every 4 hours so you know how frequent/likely it was for this to occur) All that I had to do to get it to correct itself was push down with significant force on the d-pad in the opposite direction that it was sticking. I know, it sounds pretty bad so far.. but the good part is yet to come. I play SSF4 quite a bit, usually about 2-8 hours per day.. 5-6 days per week. After the first week of using my controller, the issue with the d-pad sticking went away. I'm writing this review months after I purchased the controller and I haven't had ANY issues with it since the first week that I used it. I assume maybe since it's from the original SF4 release, maybe it just required some breaking in to get all the kinks out from sitting around for a year. This controller does require 2 AA batteries, but to all the people complaining about batteries in their reviews.. how often do you play? As I said, I play quite frequently and usually only change the batteries about once a month.. which isn't bad considering that sometimes I can rack up 40 hours per week on the game.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and do not regret it.. the controller is easy to use and has worked well for me. If you're someone who is tired of using a normal PS3/360 controller or joystick, it would probably be worth giving a try. However, being that it is a Madcatz product.. there is a chance that you may have issues with the controller. I'm lucky that any issues that I had with it went away, but other people may not be so lucky. I was about to return mine, but then fortunately the issue with the d-pad just went away. My advice is, purchase with caution.

comfortable

nicely sized

lightweight

feels sturdy

rubberized grips

fluid d-pad movement

-

not rechargeable (uses 2 AAA)

not bluetooth (comes with usb/ir dongle)

no analog sticks

small/recessed PS, start & select button hard to feel/press

My biggest complaints are the usb/ir dongle taking up another port so it should've been a bluetooth controller. There are no analog sticks but there is a switch to enable the d-pad as the left stick or right stick (but you couldn't use them in any combination together). And not having a built-in rechargeable li-ion battery is a waste. I guess you could use rechargeable AA though.

In the end this is a great SF controller. When configured for SF, the punch and kick buttons are nicely spaced apart so your fingers don't feel crammed together. You can easily pull off sonic booms, shoryoukens, hadoukens, super pile drivers, spinning bird feet, etc.. So it is perfectly suited for SF. But I found it hard to use for Tekken and other games mostly because PS, Select and Start buttons are recessed and hard to find/press. I don't use the turbo buttonnever haveeven back when the NES had it on the ASCII pad. Hahah remember that?

Buy Sony PS3 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Blanka Now

This is an outstanding controller. Very comfortable to hold and all buttons are in easy reach. It is already perfectly set up for use with the Street Fight IV & the default button configuration. Moves requiring quarter, half & full circle movements are incredibly easy do, thanks to the floating digital pad. And they can be done consistently. It comes a with handy Turbo button which makes characters like Chun-Li & E. Honda especially dangerous.

My only problem with the controller & its floating digital pad is that it may be too sensitive sometimes. For characters that require charge attacks or precise up and down movements of the digital pad for combos, the Dualshock 3/Six-axis controller is actually easier to use & more consistent.

If you have PS3 then you already have the standard controller & I highly suggest you try out the Fight Pads to get the most out of this game. It will probably come in handy for other fighting games as well. I fully intend to use this pad on Tekken.

I purchased the Street Fighter 4 Fightpad, for Capcom's latest scam, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. It worked, but even on the first day i played, I noticed technical issues. The controller kept on inputting my commands as down for what ever reason, and the diagonals were not as responsive. Why the hell a fightpad SPECIFICALLY made for fighting games would be wireless, is beyond me. I feel as if the controller could have been spared these troubles if wired. I bought this in May 2011, so I doubt that if they didn't have wired then, they most likely stopped improving the fightpads, and will never make more that are wired. The actual performance was decent, and improved my inputs by a fraction; certainly not worth anything over $20. The floating d-pad sucked for me, and I found my fingers getting stuck in the bulbous creases of the diagonals. The button layout was extremely poor in my opinion. I felt that the buttons should have been left alone, and just a better d-pad. It will take A WHILE to get used to the six button layout. They are so weirdly spaced out, that you will be pressing the wrong commands often. I played for about a week, then gave up, because MVC3 was boring after 2 weeks.

Pros:

Slight better inputs

really cool design

...

Cons:

floating d-pad is too uncomfortable

registers incorrect inputs when not even touching anything from time to time

Spacing of the buttons are awkward

wireless

uses 2 AA batteries

Feels cheaply made

I got the freebie copy of GH:VH from the GH5 promo. GH:VH uses the GH: Metallica engine it has expert-plus drums and better star power indicators, but it doesn't have the easy group play drop-in/drop-out stuff of GH5 or the instrument challenges that make that game a little more interesting.

Positives: If you like classic David Lee Roth Van Halen (no Van Hagar here) you'll love it. You'll also dig it if you like playing hard guitar parts. It's difficult without being annoying a lot of hard guitar songs are mostly endless strings of HOPOs and alt-strums. These are more interesting, and with a bunch of fun slide parts.

Negatives:

1) For most of the game you're "Van Halen in 2008." You too can be middle-aged guys reliving their youth! Not exactly my rock-n-roll fantasy. And yes, the game has Eddie's son Wolfgang on bass. I don't want to pick on him, but even his videogame avatar looks a little embarrassed to be there. Eventually you unlock classic VH...with Wolfgang sort of foolishly wearing Michael Anthony's sleeveless dice tee from 1984. O the humanity. Still, that was Eddies's call and not Activision's fault.

2) The cut scenes, venues and characterization are pretty thin. Except for one classic Van Halen club, the venues are all generic.

3) The non-Van Halen set list. I know it's personal taste. Maybe you love it, that's cool. But apart from a handful of period-appropriate songs (Foreigner, Deep Purple, The Clash), the non-VH songs are a grab bag of generic modern rock (Blink-182, Yellowcard, the ubiquitous Foo Fighters) and stuff that's already been released on Rock Band (Painkiller; Sick, Sick, Sick; Master Exploder; the egregious Pretty Fly for a White Guy). It feels like a bunch of songs that Activision had lying around because they didn't make the cut for GH5.

One thing I liked about GH: Metallica was that the non-Metallica tracks were songs the band liked, and songs that influenced or were influenced by Metallica. There was some intelligence behind the setlist and the whole game hung together. It wouldn't have been too hard to do this with GH:VH mix more cheezeball 70's guitar rock (Nugent, Foghat, Alice Cooper, Styx), some Guitar God tracks (Jimi, Clapton, Santana), and some GH Rocks the 80's songs (Ratt, Journey, Autograph). Stuff that VH listened to, stuff that was inspired by VH, stuff that was on the radio when VH was big. Not too hard. But instead we get a set list assembled by the marketing staff. Meh.

GH: VH feels like GH: Metallica done on the cheap. Like halfway through development Activision realized this should have been a track pack and not a standalone game, but by then it was too late so they just half-assed it to get it out the door. Though my complaints melt away when I fake-play the opening chords of "Unchained." Three stars if you like Van Halen and don't care about money ($50 for 45 songs is painful). One star otherwise if Van Halen isn't your thing, just stay away.

This could had been a 5 star title but as some reviews stated it was rushed and used the same engine as the Metallica game. Come on Activision you had a diamond in the rough and you blew it. This comes from a die hard Van Halen fan since 1980.

Just so you know, I'm not that terrible a typist, nor is my grammar that bad. I typed out my review title like that for a reason. Why? Well, simply put this game is only half Van Halen. Thus I took out half the letters in the title. I think it's an absolute insult to call this game "Guitar Hero: Van Halen" This is just "Guitar Hero: Van Roth"

Oh yeah, lets make a Guitar Hero specifically for one of the best rock bands of the past 30 years,...and take out 10 years of the bands material and just not put any of it in the game. WTF!!! Roth was only in the band 6 years. Hagar was in the band 10+. I would have LOVED this game. But where are the flipping killer tracks from the Van Hagar years??? Summer Nights, Dreams, Best of Both Worlds, Source of Infection, Humans Being, RESPECT THE WIND!!!

I Love Van Halen, but this game only gets 2 stars in my book. It blew my mind how many freaking Van Halen filler tracks made their way into this game, what a joke.

The stand seems pretty sturdy, although it's kind of in a corner so nothing bumps into it.

The controller chargers work perfectly, and shut off when they're fully charged. I don't have the Move so I don't know how well those chargers work.

The PS3 fits into the stand, and I didn't know if it would grip it well enough to hold but it seems fine.

Overall, good stuff, worth the purchase.

I was looking for a charging station which could charge my 2 move controllers along with my two dual shocks. This was the perfect product for what I needed. I ordered and got it with in the estimated delivery date. Plugged it in and worked for a couple days but after plugging and unplugging the move controllers a couple times due to repeated use the back right charging dock stopped working. The LED didn't didn't turn on and the move controller wasn't charging. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the metal prongs which connect to the move control when its charging where not fixed to the dock and had broken off. They are very fragile for some reason and if you buy this product you should be careful when plugging in the move controllers. Although, the left one dock works just fine and didn't break. Anyway I am waiting for my replacement from Amazon. Overall the product does what it say it does, just be mindful of the move charging dock. I'm not sure why they didn't just go with the USB connector like with the dual shock dock.

Sure, this product does what it intended to do: it recharges PS3 equipment without using PS3 USB ports. Nice. But, it comes with a short power cord, which necessitates plugging it into a power strip. Would have been nice if the cord were 2 or 3 feet longer.

I bought this controller because I thought it looked unique. It's a pretty good controller but does feel a bit cheap.

Pros:

It looks good(IMO).

Built in rechargeable battery.

Buttons and joysticks feel good.

L2 and R2 feel more like triggers but not like the 360's.

Wireless.

Cons:

A bit too wide for my preferences. Guess I'm too use to the DS3.

No rumble or Sixaxis controls(which I knew when purchased but would have like it included for $30).

Feels light and cheap.

Lights don't turn off right away(10-15 minutes) after the PS3 turned off.

Uses a USB dongle.

Overall, I like this controller. It's a good controller for my little cousins whenever they come over so they won't break my DualShock3s. Still nothing beats the DS3.

It's a controller. Agree with the previous reviewer that it has a wider feel. There are added steps in setting it up to use, i.e., plug in a USB dongle into the console, but I got these on sale at Amazon for about a quarter for what the Sony wireless DualShocks are going for. Obviously the issue of quality is a concern. Will see how long these last. But, overall, pretty happy.

Let me start off by saying that Rock Band 3 is an excellent experience. I am writing this as an experienced Rock Band player, so I'm going to write this review from that point of view.

Major improvements over Rock Band 2 include:

Being able to drop in and out of a session without having to resort to "backing out" into the lobby area to add/drop players. HUGE plus; no longer is there the audible groan emitted by the group when someone wants to take a break or "hey, I want to play!"

Filtering / song selection is a LOT friendlier. You can now sort by song genres, decades, game versions, etc. in a much more controlled manner giving you better access to your songs.

As your band goes on the road, the in-between videos of driving to your next gig, or the parties after your concert to the aftermath that ensues is an awesome personal touch.

Pro Mode keyboards (Mustang PRO guitar will arrive 11/26; I'll edit my review once I get it) are a challenge, but a blast. It definitely wants to make me excel; it's so much fun. A big concern that I had was whether or not there would be a range of difficulties in PRO Mode so I can baby-step into it; rest assured, there is. Both PRO and regular modes have difficulties ranging from Easy to Expert.

Character customization is far more powerful and I like the range of choices far better.

Song choice has expanded considerably with the introduction of the keyboard.

Harmonies are now supported in Rock Band 3 a la Beatles and Green Day.

Major gripe:

And oh, it's a doozy. You want to have 2 guitars, a keyboard, and a vocalist at the same time? Nope. It won't happen. It...will...not...let you. Well, that's not EXACTLY true. The ONLY way that you can have these combination of peripherals work is if you enter "All Instruments Mode" which will support 2 guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and your vocalists. What's the complaint, you ask? Well, vocalists are forced into "karaoke mode" which means that all their singing is for naught...no overdrive, nothing. Rock Band 2 had a similar thing...it was called "stand behind the couch and sing along while 2 guitars and the drum set are utilized with the mic turned off." In fact, I could have a choir going on with Rock Band 2 with the mic turned off. I can make it a 24-player game. The effect is about the same for me in Rock Band 3. It's stupid and costs the game a single star for me.

Not only that, but you can't have 1 guitar, 1 bass, and a keyboard at the same time either without being forced into "All Instruments Mode." It will force you into it, vocalist or no. The downside to all of this is that you can't enter into an online session if you're in "All Instruments Mode."

Overall, it's a great game. Why they could support a vocal/keyboard/drum/guitar (or bass) combination but NOT a vocal/keyboard/guitar/bass combination staggers me. There is already one complaint (or I should more accurately say, "how do you do it" post) on the forum.

If that issue doesn't bother you, then rush out and get it. If it does, then you have been warned.

-Edit 10 / 30 / 2010 --

To make matters worse, this problem appears to extend to online sessions as well. We tried drums and keyboard at my house while my friends' house had guitar, bass, and vocals. The guitar + bass + keyboard combination appears to be the kiss of death; it WILL NOT WORK as of 10 / 30 / 2010. Through troubleshooting, we figured out that the highest number of participants that you can engage is 6: 1 bass / 1 guitar (or keyboard, just not a combination of the 3) / 3 vocalists (harmonies must be in the same household; we could not get harmonies to work in different households) / 1 drum. The box says 2 7 players online. We could not make 7 work. Please chime in if you could and what combination that you utilized to make it happen.

Hopefully, Harmonix produces a patch for this issue because the nexus behind Rock Band 3 (and what all of us were led to believe) was that the keyboard became the additional instrument, not the frustrating "and / or" situation that it has become. Buyer be warned.

-Edit 11 / 10 / 2010 --

Harmonix posted a Top 10 FAQ. They may be working on a patch which may resolve some outstanding issues, but it's not specifically clear whether or not they intend on addressing the All Instruments Mode issue. I will continue to track this.

If this issue is fixed in the future, I will update this review. In the meantime, I stand by deducting a star from an otherwise awesome game.

-Edit 12 / 26 / 2010 --

All Instruments Mode is still around. I'm afraid that it might be around to stay. While it's not a deal-killer for all, I'm afraid that it will alienate the singers out there.

I was very anxious for RB3 to be released, after becoming addicted to RB2, so this review will attempt to compare the two games, and explain what I like better about each one. Overall, RB3 is worth the purchase if: A) you're a die-hard music gamer that will want to continue playing new music and downloading future released songs, B) you want to experience the keyboard as a new intstrument, or pro-mode as more challenging versions of the drums and keyboard (or flat out real experience on guitar once it is released), C) all of your friends have picked it up, so that you can continue to play with them online. But I have a handful of gripes to go along with the improvements, so here comes a list of pros and cons:

PROS:

* Addition of keyboards and pro-mode is sure to provide additional fun and challenges

* Character customization and graphics are improved

* Library of songs can now be sorted/filtered much more effectively than before in RB2, this is especially helpful if you have a lot of downloaded songs (DLC)

* Online band play now credits each player's band with a score, not just leader's band

* Solo scores are calculated and posted to leaderboards, even when playing in multi-player band

* Career goals provide fun challenges and other things to shoot for than just playing through songs

* All band participants can add to setlist in band play, not just band leader, this is a HUGE plus

* Create your own battles of the bands, and send to friends for friendly competition

* Drum fill sections sound MUCH BETTER now as you will actually hear the different drums you are hitting and the speed at which you hit them, more incentive to do something cool during the fills

* Leaderboards can be accessed while in band play choosing setlists, navigation on leaderboards is improved

CONS:

* Online chat quality in game is seriously diminished, not as clear when you do hear it, and cuts in and out at times like a bad cellphone connection, very frustrating, need a patch to fix this

* Glitch in game occasionally without warning boots you completely out of game and to main PS3 menu where you have to restart game, this has happened to me several times, as well as all of my online friends, need a patch to fix this

* Audio glitch in game occasionally makes horrendous sound through speakers that lasts about a second or so, but sounds like it could blow speakers out, need a patch to fix this

* Guitar solos are not as obvious as they were in RB2 (faint blue outline on edges of note track instead of solid blue note track)

* Playing in red (down near bottom or rock meter) is also not as obvious as RB2 (faint red outline on edges of note track instead of more prominent red, and you won't hear the crowd boo as much)

Overall, still a solid game and better than those in the Guitar Hero franchise, but took a few unnecessary steps backward in the process. While I personlly am fairly happy with the setlist, everybody must make up their own mind on that, you will either like the songs or not, and my opinion on the songs should not matter in this review. I'm looking forward to trying some instruments on pro-mode, and even possibly learning to play some real guitar, but I can't rate that aspect at all yet as I don't have the equipment yet.

I became interested in this game because they finally took the music genre another step up. They added keyboards. They made it possible to play using real instruments.

I received the game last night with the keyboard controller and I have to say, it's very fun. I haven't used normal keys mode at this time, I started off immediately with pro keys and it feels great. May take a few moments to determine the chords the game is telling you to press in time to press them, the songs generally can take more practice to play properly because of that. Get to focus on your fingering techniques.

While most songs in the game seem to feature keyboards, there are some that do not. You can use the keyboard to play bass or guitar parts on those songs, or any song really. This is also pretty fun to do. I've never been too big on the guitar instrument so playing it on a keyboard makes it more appealing for me.

Expert pro keys is pretty intense looking. Can't do that yet, but I was curious :)

I don't have any of the other RB3 instruments at this time. So am unable to discuss those.

Overall, great fun. It's new and fresh feeling, and can actually help to like, play real instruments. I've become addicted all over again :)

Want Rock Band 3 (Game) Discount?

Rock Band 3 is an outstanding game. I bought this game because the Fender Squier Stratocaster was finally released. The thought of using a guitar with real strings to play a video game was just too much temptation.

I'm figuring most of you already figured out that Rock Band is the more serious game compared to Guitar Hero. We have several versions of Guitar Hero, and it is a good game. But Rock Band is just a whole different world. My frame of reference with Rock Band 3, this game is really beautiful. I like the play list so much more, the menus are more intuitive, and it's less of a game and is more music. There are so many great reviews of this game, I'm not sure I can pile on any more good words.

The game and the Stratocaster, is a whole different world compared to the button mashing controllers. A whole new and different set of skills are required. Playing this game with the Strat is not easy.

The guitar is good looking. Nobody will ever mistake it for the genuine article Strat there is only one pick up, there's no tremolo bar, only a volume control (no tone controls), there is a string damper, and there are a couple of extra video game like buttons. Remember this is a Squire Fender's entry level guitar not a real live Strat. Squires without the controller are very inexpensive, in the hundred dollar range. But sitting in your game room on a stand, this thing looks really good from a distance.

Game play is amazing. It's a good idea to start with the lessons. Rock Band has developed a whole set of lessons to help you learn how to play this guitar. Even though you may be a good guitarist or the best Rock Band player in the world, it is still important to rip through those lessons. Understanding the numbers and strings is a bit difficult at first. The lessons are really nice, starting with single strings, playing different notes on one string at a time; then progressing to mixing up the notes on different strings; and then hitting the whole chord playing thing. The cool part of the lessons, you can see on the screen where you put your fingers and which strings you struck. If you did something wrong, the lesson stops and shows you what you should do.

It's a good idea to try a few songs on Easy level, single notes, that don't mix up too many strings at once. Rock Band has done a great job at getting you comfortable with the guitar.

There are some odd things about playing the guitar with the game:

In order to register the notes well, you have to raise a string damping device. Whenever you pick a string, the sound from the guitar is not the sound of a real note. It's the sound of a plastic pick flicking a metal rod. If you play the game really loud, you'll never hear the sound. But at normal levels this is kind of an odd sound.

The neck feels very strange compared to a real guitar. Fender did the best they could with a nice smooth maple neck, but they then had to put a plastic part over the top of that neck to include the finger sensors. There are no buttons on the neck, just this continuous sensor that makes for an odd profile.

Getting exactly the right finger position and striking the right string are a little odd compared to playing a real guitar. You have to strike the string hard to register a note this is a bad habit with a real guitar.

For the guitarist. My particular guitar doesn't hold tune very well. This might be newness, it might be normal for Squiers, it might be the strings are stretching, or it might be the string damper. I'm hoping that problem goes away. You won't be able to use coated strings (like Elixirs) because the string has to make electrical contact with the fret and those coatings are insulation. This guitar requires very light strings, 0.009. That will feel very odd to an electric guitar player. The neck profile is very different from a standard guitar, and it will feel strange. The single pick up is a design decision to keep costs down. This appears to have a very strange truss rod. There is no adjustment in the headstock; instead there is an Allen screw just below the 14th fret (at the neck / body joint). This apparently only adjusts the curvature of the neck not the action height as it does on most guitars. The bridge is where you adjust the action individually on each string. I'm not a big fan of this arrangement; I hate to touch a bridge. The action out of the box is pretty high. The black finish is nice, but nothing really special (but what would anyone expect). The guitar form is just exactly right; it is a full size Squire body. The guitar feels a bit light compared to the normal guitar. I'm sure they had to remove a lot of wood inside the body to fit in the batteries and controller hardware. It is hard to imagine playing this guitar at a gig. In a pinch, I guess it would do. You cannot bend chords or notes on this guitar during game play. The game gets totally confused.

The guitar requires three AA batteries to use it in the game. Playing through an amp, no need for the batteries. The guitar can apparently be used as a midi controller also. The guitar is not wireless you have to plug it into the midi adapter (has to be bought separately) and the adapter has to be plugged into the console. There is absolutely no wireless possible. You will also do all the game controlling (menu selections) from that adapter, not the guitar.

In early March 2011, the time of writing this review, the most complicated part about buying this guitar is the required Midi adapter. The Xbox version is really easy to find. The PS3 version is impossible to find. Mad Catz shows no stock or an availability date, Amazon shows the classic high demand item astronomical price by a reseller, and Best Buy shows no stock anywhere in any store in all of Illinois or Indiana. It just happened that my store had one sitting on the shelf, but not listed in inventory. I got super lucky. Good luck finding one of those beasts. The controller is super simple and not very well built. I'm guessing it wouldn't stand up to being stepped on one time.

This is by far the best game experience I've ever had, bar none. The feeling of playing a guitar and playing a game is just too exciting. This combination should appeal to a lot of people from the game controller player that wants a new challenge, to somebody that wants to learn the guitar, to somebody that already plays the guitar. Yes, a three hundred fifty dollar electric guitar would be a much better investment, but how many of us would actually take the lessons?

It looks a lot like The Simpsons game, but don't let the cover of The Simpsons fool you. Rockstar has out done themselves once again with a game that doesn't exist. Have a fun time playing in a non-existent space where you do nothing because you can't do anything to begin with. If you like controls that make it feel like your not using a controller because you don't actually play none, you will love this game. The graphics are awesome because it is whatever you imagine, and the sound is superb to the point that it may just be your imagination. Buy none today!

I have played practically every incarnation of The Sims since its debut (and Maxis games before that), and EA has finally brought the full experience to console. It has been a long journey with plenty of trial and error, and it certainly helps that console hardware now comes close to the power of PC gaming. I played Sims 3 on PC, but due to hardware issues and my disdain for EA's DRM technology I haven't spent my usual mini-lifetime within my sim's universe; I am thrilled to now have the option to play on the PS3. The game even seems enhanced. The added trophies, karma points and powers, challenges, and more fit in nicely, and the controls are easy to pick up. Challenge points can even be used to unlock content that would cost actual money on PC (like the steampunk collections).

There are only a few things that don't seem to flow, the major point being build/buy mode. It is so easy to switch in and out of build and buy on PC just a click but now I must hit the select button and navigate over to build/buy mode. The town map is also accessed from the select button menu. These things take away from the larger feeling of The Sims 3 PC version, especially since that aspect was one of the few improvements over The Sims 2 (PC). The continuity could be improved with Build/Buy and the Town Map being on a menu that is quicker to access. The town also seems small after playing the previous games with expansions. (Though I imagine there will be plenty of add-on content to come.) I don't think the loading times are bad, but I have been playing New Vegas. Anyone who has played Sims with about six expansions installed will think the loading times are lightning-quick.

The slight annoyances do not take away from the full game experience. All the great aspects are still there; pretty much everything is customizable, the graphics are gorgeous, and the music and sound are fantastic. I missed being as engrossed in the lives of my sims as I was playing Sims 2 on PC, and I am once again delving that deeply into the world of The Sims.

The pc version has more items and other options however I find sitting behind a computer annoying so I had to pick this up on black Friday for 30$. I enjoy it because I can just sit back and relax with my controller and have fun. As for the game itself it has gotten extremely easy sense the debut of the original which I still have and love. Although I do enjoy playing the Sims 3 more because instead of being worried about comfort and room the mood bars they took out it is less stressful and a more enjoyable experience. I like how many more skills there are and if you are into platinum trophies, this one will please you because its about 60 hours of game play for platinum. Whats pleasing about it is not only the time it takes but you will enjoy it! The Sims 3 is VERY fun and their are no hard annoying trophies just time consuming one like, fulfill 1000 wish's or 250k happiness points, but you will get this over time. Their is this new option called karma and its REALLY FUN because you can just mood boost your character before you go to work and get that raise or promotion. Buy this for any Sims lover or for your teen, better yet for yourself.

I bought for this game for my daughter because she is always bugging me about how our laptops won't run Sims 3.

CONTROLS; At first the basic controls are very easy to learn, and you get tips on how to use them. But every day my daughter plays it, she finds a new control that she didn't know about, and sometimes it can get a little confusing and she did find herself looking on the internet for some clues.

GRAPHICS; The graphics are very good, although not the best I've seen in a game.

GAMEPLAY; Creating Sims is better than ever, and you can tweak every detail from the shape of the jaw, to freckles and beauty spots. You can edit some things like hair, because you can add highlights. I have noticed that there does not seem to be as many clothes as in Sims 2. You can also import Sims. You can give your Sim traits, and trust me, there are allot to choose from! Just as an example, my dughter made a Sim of me, and the traits were Loner, (!) Computer Whiz, Couch Potato, Grumpy and Loser. :(

The game is set in Moonlight Bay, where your Sims have lots of facilities to learn and play. If you go to the town map, you will see that there are lots of places to go, the stadium, the school, the theatre being just a couple. There is only one flaw of going to town which is that you can only see inside the Gym, the Library and the Park. This is not because of a glitch, it is the way the game is designed. All the other buildings are just large decorative objects, and if you're Sim goes to work, or just visits that building you won't be able to see what they are doing.

At home, you can buy lots of great items for your Sims' homes, or you can build your home from scratch! Although the camera can sometimes be a bit annoying if you try to zoom in, Build & Buy Mode is very good.

Your Sims' can develop skills for certain subjects. For example if one of your Sims' traits is 'green thumb' your Sim is more likely to choose the Science career and will excel at it because he/she has a natural talent. Some of the Skills are; Athletic, Fishing, Handiness, Writing, Logic, and Charisma.

There are lots of oppurtuniies in Sims 3, for example, if you have a very Charismatic Sim, you have to oppurtunity to become the Mayor! Or if your Sim is very Science-y you can go leaps and bounds in the Science industry.

Overall this is a great game, which you are sure to love if you have Sims 2!

This game is MAGNIFICANT!! With the amount of things that you can do in this game, this will keep any die-hard sims fan busy for hours and hours. One quick warning though, this game was certainly made to be played by the PC gamers that do not already have the game for the PC. A lot of the story-based missions found in previous console sims games are missing, in place with a free-roaming style of game play. While the changes might upset some, myself included, I still found myself having a blast playing this game. While it isn't like the other console games, this game can still hold it's ground, and is one of the most comprehensive sims games to date.

Seriously, this has to be one of the most mundane, tedious games ever...but also one of the very best. The graphics were amazing, there were so many options for customizing EVERYTHING.

I had occasional problems with glitches and freezing, but ALL games have problems with glitches and freezing. If you can't handle that, then, you should not be playing video games. Go buy a puzzle.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a motorcyclist. I have owned several bikes including track-prepped Aprilia motorcycles that I rode at several race tracks. I have also attended MotoGP races in-person. This game was auditioned via a full HD video projector on an 84" screen with a full 5.1 surround sound system.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to try this game before purchase. I wasted $40 buying MotoGP 09/10 last year and was greatly disappointed. This year's version is no different. The software persons that develop this game need to go back and revisit the 08 version which was excellent. The bikes in the newer games don't behave like real motorcycles. Side-to-side weight shifting to turn the bike left or right causes the bike to pivot in the wrong place. The weight transfer is exaggerated causing the bike to weave. High-performance bikes at speed (especially lightweight race bikes) flick side-to-side without much effort. This sense of flickability was captured very well (without a cartoony arcade feel) in the 08 version of the game. Also, the 08 game had accurate bike sounds. The latest games make the roaring MotoGP bikes sound like weed-wackers. To me, the graphics of the newest 09/10 and 10/11 games look unrealistic like over-processed HDR photographs.

I would implore Capcom to go back to the graphics and sound and physics of the 08 game and simply add the new racers and the new race classes: Moto2, etc..

Best regards to the people of Capcom Japan who were affected by the recent earthquake.

Bought this game a few days ago and what a MAJOR disappointment! Absolute , total, garbage if I may pay a complement to its makers. Trust me, a lot of pink slips need to be handed out, top to bottom. Never, ever, will I purchase another Capcom game unless I can see what its like before hand. Have none of the folks at Capcom played their competitors MotoGP games of yrs gone by until now?

Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to try it out before buying.

Is this 2011 or 1999 when arcade style was the best on offer? I ditto the remarks made by most reviewers. How can a manufacturer justify selling a game that in no way simulates the mechanics of riding a motorcycle.

Two thumbs down!!!

I played Moto GP 08 like crazy. I loved it. I read that this one was good. I found it to be insanely difficult. I couldn't even keep the bike on the track even after practicing a lot! It also had a bunch of stupid additions to the game play. I hated it.

While the game is still fun to play, this is by far the weakest entry in the Karaoke Revolution franchise. As my wife points out, these games are all about the singing, and KRAI: Encore delivers on this point. The tracklist has 40 titles, with a pretty good mix of genres spanning over several decades. The songs are, with a few exceptions, spot-on covers of the originals. And the background graphics are quite good, very realistic, almost like you're there.

However, my wife's opinions notwithstanding, there are a great many flaws in the game:

1. Sub-par character graphics. The graphics and animation are terrible. Konami decided to go away from the "cartoony" characters and make them more human and life-like. The cartoony characters looked better and moved better. The more life-like characters are--let's face it--ugly, and their dancing is horrid. Also, you cannot customize every feature of your character as you could in some previous versions.

2. Let us have a moment of silence for Konami's loss of it's partner in the franchise, Harmonix. The system for monitoring and scoring rhythm and pitch, though in appearance and theory is the same, is not as good or as accurate. I've found the arrow bouncing around the pitch bars more often than ever before, which is really annoying.

3. One word sums up the online store: disappointing. And this was the selling point of the game for my wife, to be able to download new songs. So far the only songs up on the store are songs from previous versions of the game! True, those will go into this version of the game and count towards total score and platinum/diamond records. But if we're singing just to sing, why not just pop in one of the other discs, which are already paid for?! Given time, I hope that Konami will provide NEW songs for download, not just even more songs from previous releases.

4. Yet ANOTHER new microphone that you DON"T need. (We have 4 KR mics.) Wait and buy the game when it doesn't come in a bundle.

I have several of the Karaoke Revolution games and this one disappoints. You can not really use the game for Karaoke as when you get 3/4 of the way through the song static starts crackling through the speakers. This is a flaw in the game that Konami is aware of but there is no word from them as to when a fix will be out. The only solution to this problem is to turn the mic volume down to zero. Two mics for duet mode are also very hard to get working. You have to go muck with the audio settings on the PS3 (choose Logitech Microphone). I recommend only buying this game when they have these problems fixed. Also I assumed when I bought the game that you could put your face on you character with a PlayStation Eye, but the camera only displays what is sees in the background of the game in certain venues.

UPDATE: I recently bought SingStar for the PS3 and tried the microphones with Karaoke Revolution: American Idol Encore. IT HELPS WITH THE STATIC PROBLEM mentioned above. I have found much less static using the Singstar PS3 mics. The Singstar mics are of good quailty and connect to a USB adapter box (two mics with stereo style jacks plug into the adapter box which uses one USB port). Duet mode works with the two Singstar mics without any mucking around. Not a perfect solution, but better than the included mics.

I wanted to try and balance out the negative reviews the PS3 version of this game has been getting. I actually think its the best version of Karaoke Revolution yet. It's like the original PS2 game with improved HD graphics, multiple play modes, online play and leaderboards, and over a hundred downloadable songs(so far). It also works with the PS Eye or the original Eyetoy(for live video to the background screens) and any standard USB microphone. I really think having downloadable songs is the best feature, because you can build up a library of your favorite songs from past versions all on one disc, and not have to drop in and out of a game. If you have any of the old Karaoke Revolution games, you can sell them on Ebay (some of the original games are going for big bucks) and just build up your song collection in this game.

And unlike Singstar, you can use Rockband microphones and this game has a lot more songs that are fun to sing!

Pros:

Updated HD graphics

Lots of gameplay options, multi player and online matches

Online leaderboards

40 songs included, over 100 downloadable songs with more on the way

Unlockable HD videos of past Idol performances

Cons:

Can't use PS Eye/Eyetoy to import your own face on to a character. The one feature that the PS2 version has that I miss!

There is no difference from the one for the ps2, just the song selection. I expected it to be real different since its for the ps3. Expected too much....didnt live up to it. Sitting on my shelf catching dust while I play Singstar......much better karaoke game for the ps3.

There is a current bevy of games with Singing or Karaoke in them. Why settle for some mediocre title as this. My fiance and I bought this to expand our Karaoke lineup, along with Rockband and some other games. We hardly touched this game. It is marred by terrible interface, small song lineup, and bad voice recognition. This makes it a lackluster title not worth the money.

These silicone covers fit better than the PS3 ones we bought when we bought our system. They are not as loose, so it's like holding a controller again, instead of a rubbery shell with a controller slipping around inside. "Anti-slip" refers to tiny bumps on the handle area. At first I thought they would be annoying, but when playing, I don't even notice them. The cover in no way hinders play or recharging on a station. Do they glow? Yeah, they have a soft glow that lasts for awhile. I would liken it more to a flashlight-under-a-blanket glow than a glow-in-the-dark-t-shirt glow. But keep in mind, mine don't get charged by light very often. All that said, when I do see them glow, it makes me happy.

Unless these come in a million pieces or have major damages, they work as expected. I prefer these rubber covers on my controllers. They do a good job of protecting them from kids. They also provide a solid grip.

The glow won't last long though. They are good if playing in a dark room, so that you do not have to turn the lights on to find your controller, if you leave to get a drink or something. Plus people might step on them.
