This game was rushed.

I've played every version since 04, and this one is the first that didn't improve from the previous version.

Pros:

1. Improved graphics

2. Improved sound

3. Improved Tiger WOods CHallenge

Cons:

1. Slowdown, inconsistent frame rate

2. Controls are horrible unless you are on the easiest difficulty setting

3. Commentary has nearly the same dialogue as 06 and 07.

Here's hoping TW09 isn't rushed, too.

Have been playing Tiger Woods Golf for years. This year was such a disappointment from the play aspect. My husband and I played together, being a guest on each others careers. The only way to play together is the play now option. This makes it a singular effort to complete your career matches. It seems to me all ps3 games are more geared to playing online instead of playing with friends. Why do we have to loose that aspect just to get better graphics? The game face has been overhauled and is more realistic and you can even load a picture of yourself. Change the way modifers are applied to your player. They brought back the 3 click (when you had the bar to swing with)

We should probably stop supporting EA's yearly release schedule. At least with TW they added new courses instead of just new players (which seems hardly a big incentive to me). But, if it weren't for the red shirted Tiger on the front I could have sworn this was TW2007.5 instead of an actually game. They could have just sold it for 20 bucks for add on courses and that would have been honest business at least.

The PS3 version is terribly slow. You can tell this was an Xbox 360 port to PS3 instead of the other way around. In the end I just couldn't keep playing it with the horrible load times just to boot up the game and get in and play took entirely to long, then if you made a mistake and select the wrong option in your hurry to actually play it's time to do it all over again.

I think the biggest tell tail sign is when they moved the same commentary from 2007 to 2008. This is what happens when you must get a game out each and every year.

I'm going to get Hot Shots: Out of Bounds which at least looks like they tried to create an actual game instead of $50.00 expansion pack. Don't buy (at least not for $50 dollars).

I know it's and old game now, but for the price you get as much fun as newer versions would provide.

This is a very fun game, although it takes some practice to be any good if you have never played a golf game before. Easy to learn controls with a difficulty level that is just about right

Just Cause 2 is an amazing game. So far I have not found any reviews that really do it justice and I'm not sure why. It seems like the more games that come out, the more competition there is between them, and I'm thinking this game kinda just got lost in the bunch, because it's surely a hidden treasure.

PS3 Version

Graphics: Amazing

The graphics in this game are flawless. Everything from the beautiful environments, to the insanely detailed massive explosions, to driving around crashing your car, or even connecting your car to an airliner and taking off with it dangling behind you, the graphics in the game are A+.

Gameplay: Amazing

The gameplay in this game are everything I've ever wanted in a game. You are completely free to explore the entire world within the first hour of the game. And when I say "entire world" I mean entire world. This game will literally take you about 30-40 mins to FLY across the world. Anything slower than flying (boat, car, walking) is just out of the question. That's how immense this game is. And the things you can do in it are just plain rediculous (in a good way). Drive any car/plane/boat/motorcycle as fast as you want, crashing into buildings, ramping off mountains, things exploding everywhere as you leave a path of destruction behind you. Did I mention you have a grappling hook? Yes. Probably the coolest tool anyone could ever have in a game. You can grapple yourself to things (pull yourself), you can grapple to things to pull them towards you (people, objects), and you can grapple things together (random people to moving vehicles like planes, helicopters, and cars). Endless possibilities. Gameplay is what gives this game a 5 star rating.

Storyline: Meh....

The storyline (or lack there of) is really the only thing I could think of that drags this game down. Really down. I mean it's amazing running around blowing things up and causing chaos, but when you want a game that has a little substance along with that, just cause 2 falls pretty short. The characters are terrible and the voice acting is even worse. I pretty much skipped all of the movie scenes about half way through the game because I didnt' wanna waste the 5 mins listening to the terrible voice over and pointless cut scenes. But trust me, the storyline is about 25% worth of this game. The rest is just plain freedom to do whatever you want, wherever you want.

Replayability:

This game is definitely replayable, in a sense that once you complete the story missions (if you even bother to) you can spend days worth of playing just going around finding all of the easter eggs, side missions, and collectibles. In fact, I myself am still playing this game. I beat the story missions and a lot of side missions and then my PS3 bit the dust. So I pretty much just started over and it hasn't lost a single bit of its awesomeness. Amazing game!@! Anyone who says nor, either hasn't played it or expects wayyyyy too much. Just Cause 2 will not disappoint.

I played a demo of this game on Onlive before buying it. The demo was a great example but didn't really prepare me for the game. This game has a MASSIVE world to explore. When I say massive, I mean it. There is a story line you follow and complete but once you finish that, you can continue to explore the world of the game in Mercenary mode. Basically, it's free movement around the islands. This game allows you to commandeer ANY vehicle in the game. This means that not only can you explore in trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, tanks, ATVs, etc. but you can take to the skies and take over helicopters, jets, fighter planes and the water in all manner of boats. This makes the game hugely exciting. There's nothing like raining down hell fire on an enemy base from your Apache attack helicopter!

The game features several types of locations to explore: villages, military bases, naval bases, and also races these come in all varieties of vehicles and are timed. Personally, I enjoy going after the military bases. This gives you the pleasure of not only tearing to shreds the army based there but also allows you to take control of massive anti aircraft guns, tanks, and 50 cal guns that you can then use anywhere else on the islands.

In short, this is a very exciting game with hours of replay-ability. As this is an older game now, you can likely find it for cheap. Great bargain you wont regret.

First of all, the map is MASSIVE. You can wander around for hours just exploring the place. I really like this game.

This is an amazingly fun game for how simple it is. I would also say it's appropriate for younger teens, as it doesn't include any of the language and sexual content of other similar games like GTA.

One word of caution pay attention to what region the game comes from. While the PS3 is technically region-free, all DLC is still region-locked. So if, like me, you get a UK version of the game, and you have a US PSN account, you won't be able to add any DLC.

This is not that bad of the game its a cross between Grand theft auto and a #rd person shooter that I cant think of at the moment I didnt buy this from amazon I got it at discount from the playstation store with all the DLC. Gameplay is a little off at times and can be frustrating when the militia forces attack in numbers with soldiers and vehicles. my biggest complaint it the cars handling its like all the cars have no brakes and the car can spin out while turning and your on the breaks they also drive like tanks. If you can get by with the handling of the cars then it really not that bad of a game.

This is a great wheel for the ps3. I have burnout paradise, blur, split second, need for speed shift, and motorstorm. It works great with all of them. It has a feature to where you can map any of the buttons to different buttons. The gas pedal is automatically mapped to the R2 button as the brake button is automatically mapped to the L2 button by default. It has different sensitivity settings and a great feel as well as button placement. I also have the logitech gt wheel which is also a great wheel but I find myself using this wheel more. Mainly because it works on all racing games, the gt wheel only works with some games. It doesn't have force feedback which is the only real drawback I have to say about this wheel. I bought this wheel before I bought the gt wheel and I'm glad I did. I have never had any problems with this wheel so far, just make sure you plug it in before you turn on your ps3 with the wheel switched to the ps3 instead of pc. With that said I have plugged it in after I turned on my playstation in the middle of a game while paused and it still worked. Overall great wheel, very universal as far as compatablility with other games, and wheel and pedal unit just feels great while driving.

If you are dedicated fan of racing games, and specialize in driving in them exclusively, the Ferrari Experience Racing Wheel is the wrong product for you, and you probably know that already. For an average gamer like me, who occasionally dabbles in racing games, the hundreds of dollars needed to get some of that gear is an overkill. I still like to have better control than a standard dualshock gamepad, and amazingly, this racing wheel provides it for the about same price. The wheel itself is solidly built of sturdy plastic, and very well laid out with the paddle up/down shifters and all the action buttons. With the strong clamp, mounting this wheel sturdily should be no problem at all. You can however forget about playing it in your lap, the tension of the bugee mechanism makes that impossible. The wheel is a bit on the small side, and the bungee cord tension mechanism is stiff, but the steering control provided by it far surpasses the dualshock thumbsticks. The pedals are very sturdy as well, and provide a nice amount of control over the gas and braking. They do unfortunately tend to slide around a lot, and I ended up mounting them with velcro. Once I did that, they stayed put. I lucked out, and had an old wooden TV stand laying around that provided the perfect mounting setup for this product. If you don't have something like that, a visit to the local store to pick a cheap one is highly recommended. I also love the programmability that this wheel has. Due to this, it is a much better choice than the Ferrari Universal 5-in-1 Racing Wheel, also by Thrustmaster. That wheel is slightly cheaper, but does not allow you to change much, making it potentially less compatible with games. Spend the few extra bucks, and get this one instead.

I tried and made this wheel work in Burnout Paradise, Gran Turismo 5, and Need for Speed Shift. With the programmable buttons, and the fact that the wheel is detected as a standard PS3 controller, this should work with almost any game. The only thing this wheel can't be programmed to have is the horizontal axis of the right thumb stick, and most racing games (with the exception of Modnation Racers) don't use that axis for anything but camera control.

The quality of this wheel is simply great. From the paddle shifters to the pedals to the wheel itself, it is hard to believe that they sell this thing for less than forty bucks. The pedals have great resistance and ample amount of travel. Anyone who has ever used a cheaply made wheel knows that if the pedals don't have much resistance or travel, then you can't control the car because you either have 100% throttle or 0% throttle 100% brake or 0% brake. Well, with this system, that is not a problem at all. You can easily ride around at half throttle or apply half brake. The extra resistance for these pedals does mean that you need some sort of mount or ballast to keep the base in place. If you want a cheap solution, do what I do and put a 10 pound weight on the base. There are also screw holes in the base so that you could easily attach to plywood or something else. The wheel also has ample resistance with the "bungie cord" system. You will need to mount this to a table or cockpit, but this is easy because the built-in clamp is very sturdy and works with tables of all kinds. Even the paddle shifters are high quality with ample resistance. I just can't say enough about this wheel. I want to save up for the Logitech G27, but for now I am very happy using this quality alternative at 1/10th the price. BTW, I use this wheel with Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3. It detects the wheel as a regular controller, but this is not a problem at all. Just remap the buttons correctly and you are off to the races... The diameter of the wheel is a little small for my taste, and the force feedback doesn't work with GT5, but those are very minor issues when you consider the price tag.

02-01-2011 Update

-----------------

Just rented "Dirt 2" for the PS3 and found out this wheel doesn't work at all with this game. I'm very disappointed. The wheel is still great for the price, but just wanted to warn people about this particular game.

Read Best Reviews of Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Racing Wheel for PS3 and PC Here

I should start by saying that this was the first steering wheel I've purchased for my PS3. So I can't compare it to others.

I played "Dirt" and was right away disappointed by the large amount of steering I had to do for the small amount of turning the car in the game would do. So I immediately put it in the higher sensitivity mode. This was better, but still not great. For instance I would turn the wheel 1/2 of the range to the left, but the car would only very slightly turn. Not much more turning of the wheel would result in the car making the maximum turn. So basically the range wasn't consistent.

Then I threw on "Motorstorm". The performance was MUCH better. The range of steering was right in line with the steering range of the vehicle on the screen.

One note: I had to restart my PS3 in order for the peddles to be detected. For some reason when I plugged it into the PS3 after it was already booted it detected the steering wheel, but not the peddles.

So, bottom line, for the price it seems like a good deal!!

I have had this wheel for about 4 months now, no problems so far. While I don't actually play racing games all that often, the ones I do have work fantastically with the wheel/pedals. The two main games I play are Dirt 2 and Grid, these are both Codemasters games, and the great thing is under their control settings there is an actual preset for this wheel to make setting it up a whole lot easier. I'm assuming all future Codemasters releases will have this preset available as well. The only game I couldn't get to work was GTA IV, they finally enabled wheel support in a patch not too long ago but this isn't one of the wheels they made compatible. Overall construction, it does feel kinda flimsy but it is actually pretty tough...I've put it through a decent amount, it also kinda sounds like some people just get lucky when buying one, some people get very unlucky. Either way if you can't afford a $200 wheel/pedal combo like me but want something you are going to use occasionally then this is a good buy.

Edit Update 12/24/2012 Device is still working fine, I don't use it as much as I used to but nothing on it has broken yet. I have been using it to control vehicles in Planetside 2! (With Xpadder software)

If you waited a while and haven't yet bought The Force Unleashed, well consider yourself lucky and pick up this addition. It's a lot more addictive and fun. I own both versions. I had The Force Unleashed for Xbox 360, and I bought this Force Unleashed Ulitmate Sith for PS3, as well as owning The Force Unleashed for PSP (what can I say I own all gaming consoles). This adds three levels to the original game that to me I enjoy more than some of the games regular levels, this game is made to answer the "what if" question; like can you imagine Luke Skywalker becoming the apprentice to Starkiller (who killed his father Vader)?

Now the Sith Edition for Xbox 360 contains 2 disks, the first is just the regular game that's been out for a little over a year, with a bonus disk featuring the 3 new levels. On the PS3 version you get one disk that contains everything. I also wanted to clear this up, you don't get 10 collector cards, you get one (of either 10 different) card and a book that shows you the other. It's nice thou, it's foil stamped, etc. And what I think is really nice, is the case this game is in, it's not plastic it's a tin case. Makes for a dramatic look. Certainly a nice christmas gift for any Star Wars fan, even if they already own the Original Force Unleashed as I did.

This is just the game with all the DLC now included on the disc. They didn't even change the menus or anything to reflect the "Special Edition"-ness (yes, that's right, the loading times between menus are still there, even after the 5-gig install). No bug fixes, backwards compatibility, anything. Your old saves don't work on here if you have any and the bonus missions are very short, even the exclusive one. The trophies are a little buggy too, because apparently kills in the bonus levels don't count toward some trophies (I counted). The non-canon storyline is interesting enough, but it still feels incomplete, even with the addition of the Hoth DLC. If you were going to buy all of the DLC, this costs about the same, and if you haven't played the game yet, this is the edition to buy, but overall there's not a ton of reason to buy it if you've played the game. It comes with ten collector's cards (and one out of ten foil cards, are you supposed to buy the game ten times or what?) and the exact same manual from the first game.

Buy Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition Now

I originally purchased The Force Unleashed shortly after its initial release, and was rather disappointed with it. The story was alright, but there were several crippling glitches and gameplay issues with the game that tarnished the overall experience. I later sold it on eBay.

One year later, I heard about the Ultimate Sith Edition and figured I'd give it a shot. A much better experience. I didn't encounter any of the glitches that were in the original version, the gameplay was more polished, and the addition of Trophies was a bonus. I would give the game an A overall.

The DLC is somewhat disappointing. There are three packs, the Tatooine and Jedi Temple packs (previously released) and a new, exclusive Hoth level.

The problem with all three packs is that they're too short to be meaningful. 35 minutes for the Temple, 25 for Tatooine, and 20 for Hoth. And, unfortunately, the gameplay issues that plagued the original release of the game returned. This is why the entire game gets only 4 stars.

But don't let subpar DLC prevent you from purchasing this game. It's worth the 40 dollars by itself, and the steel case is a nice addition.

When I found out, there was a special edition, I was really happy, I bought the regular edition when it came out on September 2008, a great game I must say but unfortunately it had a lot of glitches, (see my past review on the regular edition) but still I wanted this game. After playing for a little while, here are the things I like and also the ones I didn't like:

The good:

* Metal case

* All downloadable content now it is included and it is for "free".

* A collectible card.

* Art book.

* Price.

* Trophies are now available for this version.

* Exclusive level for the Sith edition.

As for me, the game seems to load a little bit faster in comparison with the regular version.

The Bad:

* On Amazon's product description, there's no info that it said just one collectable card it's included, too bad.

* It would it be cool if there were a soundtrack included for this edition.

* For people who already bought the two extra screens, the skin characters, they wasted their money because all content it is included.

* Too bad the special edition took over a year to be release.

* Your previous save data and all the hours you invested in playing the regular edition, now are useless because the save data is not compatible with the special edition, as for me A HUGE FAIL from Lucas Art studio.

The glitch:

* On some stages the character can float LOL, especially if the character needs to climb to get a holocron and then if you let him fall (a small fall not enough to kill him) on some stages the star killer will flow. The one I recall right now was in Felucia (level 3), when I saw it.

* This is the game with most glitches I've ever played on PS3 (actually the only one with glitches I own).

If you don't mind to re-play the game one more time, I would advise you to sell you regular version and buy this one, for all of their extras and the exclusive screen for this edition, you won't regret it.

Cheers.

Want Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition Discount?

Game play is really fun but the graphics aren't up to par. The extra levels are nice but you can't carry on your stats to them. Another bad thing about the extra levels the difficulty isn't stackable. So if you beat it on hard you still have to go back and beat it on easy for the achievement. I think they should have connected the extra levels and spaced out this short game. I beat the game on medium in 8 hours 55 minutes not including the extra levels and I died a lot, so I'm sure I could beat this in 5 hours or less on an easier difficulty.

With all the negatives said, this game is still a great buy. I love the metal case and the collectors card it comes with is also pretty cool. I got the Darth Maul card. I'm hoping to get a Platinum Trophy on this game but the achievements are pretty hard. I hope my review answered some of your questions. If you don't already have Force Unleashed and looking to buy it, buy this one!

A lot of people have written about the pros and cons of the PS3 vs. XBOX 360 vs. Wii. I'm not bothering with that, and assume you can find that information at elsewhere. I'm also assuming you can read all about why the PS3 would or would not fit your needs.

Instead, I'd like this review to explain what exactly this configuration is (there's a lot of confusion about that,) and why I think it hits the sweet spot. Basically, there are currently 2 versions of the PS3 on the market now. Ignoring the size of the drive for a second (because you can always swap the drive anyway, and it has no real bearing on the rest of the specs) think of them as Version A (currently available or not as the case may be in the PlayStation 3 80 GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Pack) and Version B (this one.)

The first thing that you need to understand is that there are three relevant differences between these two versions besides the included bundle and the price (the MGS one is $499 from amazon, more from third parties.)

Difference #1: Version A (MGS pack) is backward compatible with PS2 games while this one is NOT (they are both backward compatible with PS1 games however.)

Difference #2: Version A has 4 USB ports as well as memory card slots, while this version has only 2 USB ports and NO memory card slots.

Difference #3: AND THIS FOR ME IS BIG: Version A has the older and larger 90nm Cell processor, while this one has the smaller (and some say more reliable) 65nm Cell processor. Power consumption on this unit is lower as well, dropping from 200 Watts to 135 watts. The end result is a machine that runs cooler and, according to all reports as well as my personal experience, much quieter. An extremely relevant factor if you watch movies with it.

For those that have been looking for a while, this is basically the 40GB machine that was offered recently, with a larger hard drive and an upgraded controller they replaced the basic sixaxis controller with the Dualshock 3 controller (which means it has rumble.)

Now Version A is packaged with Metal Gear Solid. It has an 80GB drive like this one, and the same controller. The big differences are listed above. Until this configuration was released, the larger hard drive and Dualshock controller were 2 of the 4 reasons many people felt the MGS pack was worth the additional $100. Those two factors are now eliminated. The remaining differences are the backward compatibility with PS2 games and the MGS game itself, which can of course be bought separately.

So to sum it up, if you NEED PS2 compatibility, you might want to grab the MGS pack if you can get one that or keep your old PS2. For new buyers though, and for all of the people that are going to just play PS3 games, as well as avid movie watchers, this particular configuration is fantastic. You get the big drive, the good controller, PLUS the cooler running chip, a quieter machine and a system that uses about 33% less power.

And ok just to satisfy the basic requirements of a review, I'll list some other nice stuff: It includes a Blu-ray DVD player (one of those runs almost as much as, or more than, this entire box), the online play is FREE, wireless connectivity is built in (you don't have to buy an additional piece as with some others), reliability has been quite good (much better than some others), there are some great PS3-only titles, and you can stream media to it from your PC. There's more, but there are plenty of people outlining it.

As always, do your research and see what's best for you. Maybe the 360-only titles are must haves for you, or maybe your family fits a Wii. We have a Wii and I love it. But I also love my PS3, and in my opinion this configuration is the one to get (this month anyway.)

Necessary disclosure: I do not own this model. I have what used to be a 60GB model, recently upgraded to 320GB the gold standard.

As compared to the 60GB model:

______________________________________________

+ less expensive (I paid $599 for my 60GB PS3)

+ 33% more storage

+ needs less power

+ dual shock controller (rumble)

no memory card interfaces

2 USB ports vs. 4 USB ports on the 60GB

no PS2 compatibility

______________________________________________

This model comes with an 80GB drive. This is nice because, most would agree, 80GB is more than 60GB. If you feel that the extra 20GB is a big deal, maybe you should think again. I upgraded my 60GB to 320GB because I was about to run out of space, with only 10GB or so left. One month or so later, I'm using more than 80GB already just downloaded the Ratchet and Clank minigame from PSN and it alone needs about 3GB. My advice is to buy this model and upgrade it yourself. It's (relatively) easy and you can find a lot of advice if you Google for it.

If you are on the upgrade path, $80 would buy you a 320GB drive. I used the Western Digital WD3200BEVT 320 GB Scorpio Sata 5400 Rpm 8MB 2.5 inch myself but that was back in June/July and I paid about $150 then; you could get much larger drives for less now. 500GB drives are available for less than $100 and you should try to get one of those if you are planning to store lots of videos. One that I tested would be the 500GB 2.5" Sata Drive which replaced my laptop's 60GB little drive and I helped a friend upgrade his own PS3 with. The nice thing about upgrading your disk is that you are also going to be left with a perfectly good 80GB or $160GB drive which you can place into a cheap enclosure, and the StarTech AT2510U2 InfoSafe 2.5-Inch USB/SATA Hard Drive Enclosure worked for me. I am using the free leftover drive as a backup device for family photos.

Upgrading the disk is (relatively) easy and you can find a lot of advice on the Net. Search for "PlayStation 3 Hard Drive Upgrade (HOWTO)" for videos that should help you decide if you are comfortable with upgrading. If upgrading is the first thing you do (before installing games or uploading personal files), everything becomes very easy because you need not worry about backups or restores. I upgraded my box in a couple of hours WITH the backup/restore steps.

The lack of memory card interfaces is annoying but you can get around it. Copy your stuff to a USB drive or flash drive and... problem solved. You can then upload your things through the USB. It's somewhat inconvenient but it's no big deal.

My old (10 months) 60GB model has 4 USB slots and I am using all of them. One for the PS3 Eye (camera), a second has a wireless keyboard dongle, the third is where the racing wheel plugs in and the last one I use to charge controllers. Can you live with 2 slots? I suppose you can but there's going to be some plugging/unplugging if you begin adding peripherals. I suppose you could get one of those USB ports multiplexers. They're ugly but... it's doable.

PS2 compatibility... can't get it. Sorry. I don't play PS2 games but my kids do. In fact, they just bought some Sonic game a couple of days ago. I was surprised but... de gustibus. They're also playing Kingdom Hearts and Destroy All Humans.

This model comes with a couple of improvements over the gold standard. It burns less electricity, which is a good thing for the rain forests, keeping them cool and maybe you save a few dollars on your electric bill. And, of course you get the advanced controller.

Briefly:

If you are planning to upgrade, the 80GB model is the way to go because it is selling for $100 less than the larger disk version and you can use the savings to pay for your disk upgrade

Get yourself a USB port multiplexer if you need more than 2 ports

Transfer your photos to flash drives to get around the missing memory card interfaces

Or or, even better, to address both the USB and the memory card issues, get the Playstation 3 Media Hub+ for 2 extra USB ports AND a card reader

Keep your PS2 if you have one and still wish to play PS2 games in the future.

Enjoy your new PS3.

I had sat on the sidelines of the next gen video games up until a couple of weeks ago. I had tried Wii almost as soon as it came out and was captivated by the motion sensors but the limited availability and sameness to the games as well as limited graphics was frustrating.

Xbox 360 the $50 a year subscription and more importantly it lost the Blu-ray/HD battle were big no points for me. I enjoy games, my wife does not. She does enjoy movies and the internet. When I pointed out that PS3 was a Blu-ray player (with excellent reviews) and could let us surf the internet, she was all for it.

I have an 'old' HDTV (3 years old). It has a maximum resolution of 1080i and a DVI input but no HDMI. I did some research before buying this so I bought an HDMI to DVI cable at the same time. I was worried about hooking it up and getting it to look right and also getting sound. I should not have been. It took literally a few minutes. Plugged the HDMI end into the PS3 and the DVI end into the HDTV. Received a picture (great picture) right away. It detected that 1080i was the highest resolution and I choose that.

Sound I simply choose the option to put sound out correctly and received gorgeous sound. I only use the speakers that came with the HDTV but it sounds fantastic on Blu-Ray. I can only imagine what people with surround sound systems will get.

The Blu-Ray discs are stunning. Even with 'just' 1080i. Truly beautiful. And it also up-converts very well. My favorite movies are the LOTR expanded editions. I have seen LOTR on TNT HD broadcasts. With the PS3 they look almost as good perhaps even better than the HD broadcasts. Also one of the coolest things and I have no idea if this for all Blu-Rays are just PS3 is that it remembers where you were on discs (Blu-ray and DVD discs)even if the disc was last played 8 discs ago. So say for instance you a third of the way through Fellowship. You then put a few game discs in, some other movie discs, then go back to Fellowship. It actually remembers where you left off that disc. Love it.

The internet browsing has been very cool. At first it was ok but it did not fill up the screen and the lettering was too small. But then I discovered zoom in and zoom out. And now it is really fun to browse. As an aside when I started browsing if someone was on our lap-top we would get a connection conflict and would not be able to surf on the lap-top. I called Linksys and they were able to change a bunch of settings on the router and it works just fine now, no problems on using both at the same time.

As for games I have Assassin's Creed and Oblivion now. Both look amazing. I have also downloaded demos for Mirror's Edge (stunning) and Motorstorm (fun and also amazing graphics). Even as a gamer truly I only really have time for a half dozen games every year or two or even three. A lot of these games last a long time. So in reality the 360s edge on variety is for all intents moot. I am planning to get Little Big Planet and maybe the new Spidey game when it comes down in price. That will more than hold me over to God of War and which ever other few games I will get in 2009. Having a handful of great games, to me, is more important than 50 titles coming out a year.

Bottomline is if you have an HDTV (particularly if you have a home theater set up) and no Blu-ray and enjoy gaming the PS3 is truly awesome. You get a great Blu-ray player, an 80gig hard drive, incredible gaming capabilities (just downloading the demos would be cool), internet browsing and video watching on your TV. You can also download the LIFE utility that has an incredibly cool visual globe where you can get live weather and news headlines around the world. And you can help cure diseases by linking to a Stanford project that looks at how proteins work and fold. If you allow it your processor can be added to the processing power being used for the Stanford project (when you are not gamin and such).

Sony has succeeded in making a truly great heart of your home media experience. This is so much more than Wii it isn't even close. And with Blu-ray and free Sony playstation network, it really is a much better value than any of the 360 choices you have. Right now heading into the 2008 holiday season, PS3 stands alone as clearly the best system and the best value. Not only for gamers but for the entire family.

The Playstation 3 is an incredible Blue Ray Player, that has features NOT available in any other Blue Ray Player. I am not a game player and simply bought this unit as a Blue Ray and DVD player. However on comparison, there are so many benefits compared to other Blue Ray players.

Here are the surprise benefits you get from this INCREDIBLE technology vs. a regular Blue Ray Player:

1. Picture Quality SUPERB (Easily compares to most expensive Blue Ray Players)

2. REGULAR DVD's PLAY IN A HIGHER RESOLUTION Incredible difference to a regular DVD player.

3. Wireless INTERNET Connection Surf web on your TV. (NO WIRES REQUIRED)

4. Automatic BLUE RAY format Updates (FREE and AUTOMATIC) Upgrades as technology changes.

5. HARD Drive (80 GB) Store movies, music, etc.

6. Beautiful Black Console Doesn't look like a game player on shelf.

7. EASY to set-up (Ready in a few minutes)

8. LOWER PRICED All these unique features, at a lower price than the other Blue Ray players

I have no idea why anyone would ever consider a standard BLUE RAY or DVD player once you have had a chance to try out the features of the PS3. Having the internet on our TV allows us full access to news, weather, radio, music video's, etc.

I was told that low price BLUE RAY players cannot play many movies and DVD's because the BLUE RAY format is constantly changing and the Playstation 3 is the ONLY BLUE RAY unit to have automatic updates that will correct for new Blue Ray formats in the future.

NO COMPARISON Hands down BEST BLUE RAY Player with the most features on the market!

I was debating which game console to get, the Wii, Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3(PS3). As a male with family of two kids, overall the PS3 was the best value for the money. Since PS3 and Xbox 360 are aiming for the same market, I was comparing the PS3 more to the 360:

Pros:

-Most powerful system among 3 consoles.

-Blu Ray player included, also it can be upgraded via the internet. It is full functioning Blu Ray player, not watered down, the picture quality if awesome.

-Solid hardware, Xbox 360 hardware has many problems.

-Includes wireless Wi-Fi, but with Xbox 360 you have to buy it separately.

-Free online gaming, unlike Xbox's which you have to pay each month.

-Internet web browser, which Xbox doesn't have.

-Better menus for navigation than 360.

-Controllers have not only rumble, but also motion sensor like Wii.

-Hard drive is easily upgradable and inexpensive, unlike 360 which is expensive and very hard to upgrade if you want to put your own hard drive.

-Latest movies and TV shows can purchased online, 360's Netflix has more titles but are old titles.

-Playstation Eye(motion sensing camera) accessory allows for motion games like Wii.

Cons:

-Need more latest titles of movies(but same or better than 360 or Apple TV)

-Not all movies can be rented in the first few weeks of release, but have to be purchased.

-Need more variety of games, actually true for all 3 systems.

Overall compared to Wii: Kids will want the Wii no matter what anyone says as long as their friends have it. The quality of Wii games are decreasing, game developers are not integrating the motion functionality well with the games. It feels like developers made the games and then added the motion feature as an afterthought. PS3's included controller has motion sensors like the Wii, also Playstation Eye camera has motion sensoring also. There are PS3 accessories for Guitar Hero and Rock Band which allows physical games on the PS3 like the Wii. So you can do play physical games like the Wii on the PS3.

Overall compared to Xbox 360: Even though Xbox 360 is less expensive initially, if you add everything that PS3 has, the Xbox 360 is much more expensive. People forgot this. 360 has more games than PS3 because it was introduced a year earlier, but starting in 2008 PS3 is coming out with many high quality exclusive games now that introduction period is over(PS3 has Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Socom Confrontation, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo 4, etc). Unless you will play Halo or Gears of War, get the PS3, it is a much better value.

The Nyko Playstation 3 HDMI Cable gives you maximum quality for a minimal price. The picture & sound of PS3 Games on my HDTV are truly awe inspiring. Nine feet of cable should be enough for most people. It's a high quality cable, being that it's insulated & extremely flexible, and you get all of this for a fraction of the cost of other name-brand cables. You can't go wrong with this product!

This cable makes setting up the PS3 incredibly easy. When you've got a TV with an HDMI port in the back, you don't have to bother with any of the other cables that are included with the system. The audio and video are stunning, and the fact that you use one cord instead of several keeps thinks from getting tangled and messy.

For your money this is probably the best HDMI cable out there. The picture from my PS3 improved vastly in clarity and color from my regular cables. This product is sturdy and most importantly cheap! At best buy the cables ran around $60, which is way too much for a cable, I think.

Average quality HDMI cable. Seems to be standard fair for a decent price without having to pay for overrated monster cables.

Want Nyko Pure HD HDMI Cable Discount?

The best way to get a high quality screen from your PlayStation 3 is with a high quality HDMI cable. This single cable carries both the audio and video signal to your TV in one 9 foot long package.

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, and this signal is a straight, conversion-free, uncompressed signal that is as perfectly clear as possible.

This Nyko cable has 24k gold connectors, and shielding along the cable so that other cables and magnets don't have an effect on the signal. This is great for the signal but the mesh cross lines along the length of the cable seem to make it unflexible. We have many cables here for all our systems and this is the stiffest cable out of all the ones we have.

Still, at 9 feet long, it is longer than several of our other cables and that extra length has come in quite helpful. Luckily we didn't need this segment to be TOO bendy and the cable was able to make the length work.

We already had a HDMI cable in place for our PS3 and to be honest we didn't see any eye-popping improvement by using this one. Certainly a HDMI cable in general will give you a gigantic improvement over using the old style yellow-white-red cables! HDMI is a wonderful quality level.

Still, I do believe in general in getting good quality cables not going with the cheapest one you can get. Cheap cables we've used in the past have definitely had issues with interference and noise. It is well worth it to spend a little money on the signal transfer between your console and your TV, whatever cable system you're using. I was quite pleased with the balance here of the quality connectors and shielding with the relatively low price.

Well recommended.

This guitar linked up immediatly and works well with my ps3 playing rock band. Only issue i have had with it is the keys are raised a little high after having played with the stock rock band guitar this makes sliding for orange notes hard, and i have found you have to position your hand fully on the keys or they don't depress enough to get full contact, which again after playing the stock guitar and being able to just touch the lips of the keys makes for a degree of having to re-orient to the style. It definalaty is more well constructed than the stock guitar, and the strum bar is just like the GH guitars, steardy and and got the infamous click. over all i think its a good guitar but not ergonomicaly suited to me. I have decently large hands, so small handed people may have issues with it. but i havn't played with any i found all that comfy to hold for long periods any way. all in all a good product from The Ant Commandos.

This guitar made it through the first song without a problem. Unfortunately, that was it. Starting with the second song ever played on it, the strum bar began missing notes. Even hitting the strum bar with slightly more force failed to produce consistent results, and by the third and fourth songs it was missing about two out of every three notes. If that wasn't bad enough, the fret buttons are rather soft and wobbly. More than once I missed a note simply because holding the fret button down wasn't enough; holding them down STRAIGHT was necessary to hit the note. In all, I was quite disappointed with this purchase. I did get my money back, however.

Pros: Classic design, nice sticker sheet, works with Guitar Hero and Rock Band for both PS2 and PS3 (just not that well, in my experience)

Cons: Buttons and a strum bar that don't consistently work, feels smaller and more flimsy than the regular guitar controllers, takes 4 AA batteries (twice what most controllers do), small strum bar

Got this guitar recently from a big box store and all I can say is don't waste your time. It's too small for an adult, the fret buttons miss a lot of notes when playing rock band and the strum bar is extremely noisy. I'm returning this.

A lot of people are saying some pretty bad things about this guitar. I personally bought and used it, and I can say that this guitar has some really high quality material. The shell is tough and the buttons are very responsive. The only thing I thought was cheap, was the whammy bar. But then I opened it and the way it's designed is that there is a small spring that stretches when you push the bar down. When you let go, the spring pulls it back to place. This means it'll be a long time, or never that the whammy bar will break. And even if it does, it'll be easy to fix. Unlike the Frontman from Nyko, where the whammy bar broke because of a very very small piece of plastic that's forcing a VERY HARD SPRING OUT. The hard spring pushes pushes the bar back. Over a period of time, the small plastic won't be able to take the stress and break. This cannot be fixed. I tried and failed plenty of times. All in all, I'd have to say that The Ant Commandos did a fantasic job making this guitar. I recommend anyone on buying it. And if you're good with pc programming, you can get the right programs, and a ps2 to usb, then you can play Guitar Hero 3 on the pc.

Want Wireless Guitar Double Range - Black - Playstation 2/Playstation 3 Discount?

Works as well as the Kramer guitar controller that comes with Guitar Hero, but feels a bit more sturdy. Range is at least comparable. With PS2, it was simply plug and play. I have used it with World Tour, GH III, and GH Encore Rocks the 80s. Button location is different, but manageable. It has two sets of fret buttons, one being close to the body, which would probably be good for children. It comes with a belt clip you can use instead of the strap. It is Rock Band compatible, but I have not verified that.

Cons: The dongle is rather bulky, since it is wired with a PS2 connector and a USB connector. The guitar does not break down like the Kramer; that may not necessarily be a bad thing because the contacts between the neck and body cause problems with the Kramer.

These straps are nice but way too long for any game guitar. Infact I bet they are too long for a real guitar. Anyway, I cut out 1.5 feet and sewed the end back on, no biggie and they work fine.

These Straps are very comfortable... and work great for my husband, but even at their shortest, they are a bit long for me. I am sure this will be different for each person, as everyone has their own way of holding their guitar. So while they will be used at my house. It will not be for me. I'm not in the habit of writing reviews. But I also don't like petty cheap shots at all. And one "review" of this game on this website does indeed qualify as a petty cheap shot (the one star one obviously). So here I go to act on behalf of a game I genuinely like and also for balancing purposes.

Atelier Rorona is a game that is different from most other games. One of the most obvious ways in which this is true is the story. The story of the game is very sweet and simple. There is no long globe-trotting journey and no grand world-saving scenario. Instead we have a simple slice-of-life story. Obviously whether or not that is a good thing depends on what you're looking for.

Personally I see it as a good thing. The video game market is already filled with long journeys, world-saving scenarios, and big wars and the like so one game that's different is certainly not going to hurt. Now I like to take long journeys, save the world, and discover the mysteries of the universe as much as anyone. But I also find that it's good to take a break from all that stuff every now and then, relax, and delve into something nice and simple.

But while the story is simple one of the things that sets Rorona apart from many other games and really makes it shine is story flexibility. While the story itself is simple the game puts a great deal of emphasis on character interaction and character development. In other words I think it's safe to say that this game is all about the characters. The game gives you the freedom to choose which characters you want to cultivate relationships with and which ones you want to ignore. If you want to you can even build strong relationships with no one or everyone. You do this by gaining friendship points. And this in turn is done by either taking the characters adventuring (you can only do this with the playable characters) or doing jobs for them. Gaining friendship points with different characters and sometimes fulfilling certain requirements unlocks numerous special character events and ultimately character specific endings if you wish it. So there are lots of different ways the story can unfold.

Yes the game has multiple endings. There are four generic or "main" endings: the bad ending, the normal ending, the good ending, and the true ending. But there are also a number of character specific endings with each one requiring the fulfillment of the conditions of one of the generic endings. In addition there are numerous special endings that you can unlock by fulfilling certain conditions. If you would like to know more about the various endings and what you have to do to get them I highly recommend you check out the gamefaqs website.

The gameplay essentially revolves around the concept of time management. Doing some things causes time to pass while doing other things doesn't. The key to doing well is making good use of the time you have before each assignment deadline.

As you might have guessed from the title of the game the story and gameplay are about alchemy (or in gameplay terms item synthesis). Rorona needs to use alchemy to pass tests and save her workshop. It's worth noting that while item requests are a key part of the game (requests from friends, the townspeople, or assignments) you don't necessarily have to synthesize an item to fulfill a job requirement. You can also use items you buy in the shops or find while adventuring. Although sometimes the quality of the item is going to count for something in which case it may be better to synthesize it. Also some items can only be obtained through synthesis. Adventuring and combat are also a core part of the game. Adventuring is generally necessary to fulfill certain requirements and get the best ingredients. The game gives you the freedom to choose whether you want to spend more time adventuring or synthesizing items. And you have two separate level types. Your alchemy level and your adventurer level.

The combat is nicely done in the game. It's classic turn-based combat with some nice touches. There's no ATB (active time battle) system so the game gives you all the time you need before making a move, which of course makes the game more user-friendly. There are no turn meters so the game will simply jump to whoever's turn it is next, which is nice and efficient. There are no MP (magic point) meters and no MP restoring items. Instead the special moves cost a minor amount of HP (Health points). This makes the gameplay simpler and comes in very handy with regard to characters with healing abilities.

This game also has the popular new game plus feature. And all of the money you have at the end of one play through can be transferred to a new one. Only your money gets transferred. This may not seem like much but it's actually more advantageous than it sounds. For example having large amounts of money at the start of a new play-through enables you to buy a large amount of healing items early on which helps you beat stronger monsters which in turn allows you to level up faster. And of course buying ingredients is not a problem either.

The game is nicely balanced. It's not too hard but not too easy either. There are many different gameplay mechanics to work with. And while this may appear a bit overwhelming at first the learning curve of the game is surprisingly minor. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get the hang of the game and there are numerous helpful tutorials provided for you. And the game can indeed be addicting.

But I strongly feel that I must also warn anyone reading this to be wary of the professional reviews in this case. Professional reviews are often (although not always) unfriendly or even hostile toward niches games (or games that only certain kinds of players can get into). And Atelier Rorona is certainly a niche game. IGN's review in this case for example was especially disgusting. That so called review was (and is) petty, ignorant, immature, unfair, and unhelpful. Not very professional at all. So as I said with my Heavy Rain review: Be careful who's opinion you buy.

And of course for me the most important part of the game was the story and characters. The story is pleasant and simple, which I found refreshing. It's also full of characters who are distinctive and interesting. I also found several of them to be likable such as Cordelia and Lionela. One notable exception was Astrid. Although I never really liked her we learn some interesting and important things about her at the end of the game. So even though I didn't like her I did come to understand her at least somewhat, which made it easier for me to accept her for who she was (and is I guess).

There is certainly a lot here for female players to enjoy. For example the main protagonist is female (something relatively uncommon in the world of video games) and so are several significant characters. I also think this game is something any dedicated JRPG fan should try.

So yes, this game is not for everyone. But nevertheless it will likely satisfy those who take to it. In the right hands, this game can provide a wonderful experience.

As a huge fan of Gust and of the previous entries in the Atelier series, I had high expectations for this game. I am happy to say that the game has completely met them. I've been having so much fun playing this game, getting to know the other people in Arland, and working on harvesting new items to synthesize new things. I have to watch the clock a lot when I play this, because it's easy to just keep saying "oh, one more job" and realize I've been playing for hours. The story scenes are sweet and fun to watch, and I'm especially enjoying Sterk and Lionela.

The combat in this is very basic, and in most gathering areas, the fights are extremely easy. The assist system adds a little more to battles, but it's still simple, traditional turn based play. However, the fighting takes a backseat in this title to item gathering, synthesis, and character interactions. Some of the animations for character's special moves are very cute and fun to watch, which adds a little something to the basic battles.

The backgrounds in Atelier Rorona are stunning, and the cel shaded characters look very nice. I especially like the little touches like the character sprites reacting to the dialogue in the game and the way Rorona's cape flounces out when you have her jump. This title has beautiful music that helps add to the game's warm, inviting atmosphere. I wasn't a huge fan of the English voice-acting, but the Japanese language track is intact, so users are free to choose whatever they prefer.

I'd highly recommend this game to fans of any of the Atelier games, especially Atelier Annie, fans of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory, and fans of visual novels. I'd also suggest this title to those who enjoy some of Gust's other games. Those of you who enjoy JRPGs and are open to something different might also find yourself pleasantly surprised by this title.

I'd like to end this with a tipyou can get water for free at any point in the game selecting "Artisan's Way" on the town map and then walking down around the corner from your workshop to a well. Finding this out made the early stages of the game a lot easier on me.

As a huge JRPG fan, I've played a large amount of the JRPGs of this current gaming generation. However, they all seemed to revolve around the premise of saving the world/universe, and eventually I grew bored in the genre. However, Atelier Rorona single-handedly revived my interest in the JRPG genre and has made me very excited for Gust's upcoming game to hit the States, Ar Tonelico Qoga, and has made me hopeful that Rorona sells well enough so that the sequel, Atelier Totori, makes it to the States.

Atelier Rorona is not your typical cliché-filled save the world RPG. Instead, it's a simple game that revolves around an incredibly deep item creation/alchemy system, interaction with the game's colorful characters, and exploring the world while doing quests for the people and your friends. The game's time mechanic makes for very fast-paced and fun, frenetic gameplay, which I've gotten very addicted to. However, if you are looking for a JRPG with a deep combat system, then I would not recommend Atelier Rorona. The game is focused on alchemy, like I said earlier, so the combat system is pretty much your standard turn-based system found in every JRPG. Don't let this deter you from a fantastic game though.

Atelier Rorona also marks the first 3D Atelier game that Gust has made. The cel-shading is very well-done in Rorona, especially the character models. Environments, however, look a little bit bland and blurry sometimes, but you won't notice it too much as you'll be spending a lot of time in your alchemy shop whipping up new items or in the wild gathering materials for that super-awesome item you'll be creating, whether it's a plain pie or even a cannon. Another thing that I really love in Atelier Rorona is the music. Composer Ken Nakamura did a fantastic job in using unusual instruments that gives Rorona's tunes a very "homey" feel to it. You can't help but feel a bit of nostalgia for the good old days of RPGs from the past when you hear the BGM.

If you're looking for something different or a break from the typical save-the-world RPG, or just want to try something new, look no further than Atelier Rorona. With the massive amounts of quests to do and items to create, along with 4 specific game endings and over 30 extra endings based on your friendship with the game's characters, this is one game I'll have in my PS3 disc drive for a long time.

Shameless plug: Buy this so NIS America brings Atelier Totori to the States too! ;-)

I loved Atelier Iris 1, 2 & 3 on the ps2. (I played Eternal Mana twice to the end.) I enjoyed Mana Khemia 1, and Mana Khemia 2 just a little less. I even managed to get halfway through Ar Tonelico, where the alchemy was a total let down. (the story wasn't all that great either)

Atelier Rorona isn't bad. It's just not challenging. It feels like it was made for children in their early teens, who might enjoy a very linear game, much like you would give a color by numbers to a young child just learning colors and numbers. There isn't much freedom in Atelier Rorona. You get assignments which must be completed in a 90 day time period, plus jobs to do for money, items, and friendship points.

Gameplay: Every thing costs 1-2 days. It wouldn't have been so bad if either the exploration or the alchemy didn't use up days. But you have no freedom to tweak recipes, as most items cost a day at the least, and figuring out which item gives you which effect will have you reloading over and over, since you will run out of time before the assignment/job is due before you get the recipe where you want it. Also, going to a gathering place costs days to get there, then every sub screen costs a certain amount of days to "explore." This can get very frustrating when you have to either go all the way back to town to make an item to advance on the screen (like when you find out you need a bomb to demo a rock in your way), which uses days there and back, or reload and start over, which is a waste of real time.

It's not a bad game, but I'm glad I borrowed it instead of buying it, since I doubt I will be finishing it, and I am certain I will never replay it.

I really wanted to like this steering wheel. It's physical design and fell are nice but it has some fatal flaws.

Pros: sturdy build, nice hand grips, adjustable buttons, cheaper than other wheels

Cons: Not even close to responsive enough, wired, suction cups are too small

I'm just going to focus on why this steering wheel fails. This wheel doesn't even come close to emulating a real steering wheel. To simulate pushing all the way to left or right on a control pad you need to turn the wheel 90 degrees. This means it's nearly impossible to quickly and accuratly correct the car you are driving. If this steering wheel had a range of motion of 90 degrees instead of 180 it would be much more usable.

Trying to use this steering wheel with "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" is beyond fusturating. I don't know if it's the game or the wheel but all of your actions seemed delayed by a fraction of a second. This made the game unplayable.

The small suction cups don't grip well on a glass surface (which should be one of the best surfaces for it). The entire unit kept sliding around.

I bought this wheel on Amazon for $24 during a special. I wouldn't buy it again at that price nevermind paying over $60.

I'm not going to return this unit now. I'm going to try it wil future racing games. If I get different results on multiple games I'll update this review.

I got this car racing wheel and I have used it on many games, and I have no complaints. It steers fine, and the pedals are perfect. The only minor thing is, (rarely but sometimes) the wheels suction cups don't stick perfectly to wherever you stick them to. Also, you can't adjust your wheel. Other than that, it's a GREAT racing wheel!

And this wheel is for Ps2 AND Ps3.

Keep in mind that you need a comfortable table in front of you to setup this device.

Overall, UFC UNIDSPUTED 3 improved over its predecessors and is still the best MMA game out there. If you liked the previous games, it's definitely for you. If you didn't like the previous games, well then the gameplay is nearly identical.

What's new

New submission system-Instead of shining (rotating the analog stick as quickly as possible), there is a new minigame. Upon initiating a submission by pushing in the analog stick, an octagon appears on screen. Both players are given a "bar". The player trying to submit attempts to trace his bar over the player's bar being submitted while the other player moves his bar trying to avoid from being traced. If the player can keep his bar over the others long enough, the submission will be successful. There is an onscreen display of how successful the submission is. The better your UFC fighter is at subs in skills, the longer you will have to sink in the sub, or vice versa. I like the new system better than the prior system. It takes more skill to sink in a sub and you can actually tell whether it should or should not work. I am looking forward to having a callus free hand from not having to shine but it is definitely going to take some getting used too.

Pride Mode-The third installment features PRIDE mode. Pride (a MMA league based in Japan) was bought out by Zuffa a few years ago but the game brings the ring fighting back to life. In PRIDE mode Foot stomps and knees to the head of grounded opponents are allowed. Yes please. Bas Rutten delivers some pretty funny commentating. Old Pride fights like Mark Hunt, dan sevren,Kevin Randleman.

Ring entrances

Bantam and featherweight divisions

Leg TKOs

Amateur controls-instead of rolling the right analog stick to transition, the player just hits up or down.

Career Mode-You can play through with UFC fighters now. The overall feel of career mode is different but extremely repetitive. There aren't as many menus and stats to implement. Instead, there is a focus on the actual fights. To me this is kind of a bad thing. I make my CAFs for online. It is a slow a tedious process to make a good online CAF when you have 2 times to improve your fighter before a boring fight with the computer.

Cutscenes with real UFC fighters are pretty cool

You can design your own logos

Online-Fight camps are back and improved. They have added the ability to share your fights with other online players.

Review

Graphics-The fighters look great as they are again based on real rendering-you can see your punches and kick show damage on your opponents pretty quickly.

Controls-If you liked previous versions of the game, then you will be accustomed to the controls. Noobs can try out the amateur controls. Myself, I like the normal controls. It's not a perfect system, but I prefer it to any other MMA game out there

Sound-The commentary gets old pretty quick but again it is improved. Bas Rutten and Stephen QUadros are added for pride mode.

Career mode-Some improvements but overall very tedious to create a good online CAF.

Online-much less lag than in previous games. Problem is there a ton of disconnects. I'd say one in three fights disconnect for me and I have cable internet. I have no problem with other games online like COD.

UFC Undisputed 3 is "BIGGER. BADDER. BETTER" that should have been the tagline for this years game instead of being wasted on that WWE crap. THQ was pissing me off with the long wait time. First they take a year off, cool, if your going to take a year off to get things right then I am good with that. Then they set a release date for Jan. 3rd of this year but then push the game back to the 14th of Feb. Now after playing the game it was worth the wait. Career mode doesn't have that annoying stat decay. Gameplay feels more fluid. Submissions (even though the big octagon covering the screen looks stupid) are more easier to pull off and it doesn't feel like the game is cheating you out. Pride mode is fun as hell. Shogun Rua is one of my favorite fighters of all time and being able to soccer kick someone's head in brings back memories. Well worth the 60 for this and I hate THQ but they got this game right. Could it be better? Yeah, but I ain't complaining.

THQ took some time off to improve the UFC Undisputed Series and it's paid off, delivering the best and deepest MMA game ever. The biggest gripe regarding the previous 2 offerings was that the game was too hard. The learning curve was steep. It made the game hard to get into. This version -while similar -is easier and more welcoming than those before it.

Roster: There's one thing that no one will deny regarding this game -the licensed roster is huge and accurately resembles it's stars! Biggest roster of any MMA game ever, including the lower weight classes -not featured in previous UFC Undisputed's (since UFC/WEC had not merged as of then). One negative -Overeem & Nick Diaz have to be obtained via pre-order codes & Facebook contests/DLC. Companies continue to milk consumers:(

Presentation: Overall, the content in this game seems endless. The game has tons of game modes (career and online) and now features PRIDE (yes, head stomping!). To me, that is huge since it takes you out of the Octagon and into the ring where many UFC stars became famous (ie. Liddell, Rampage, Hendo, Silva, Gracie, etc.). The graphics look great -from player models, crowds, etc.

Gameplay: At the start of the game, one can pick Amateur Controls or Pro Controls. For those looking for a less daunting scheme, Amateur controls is a welcomed edition. This mode will even teach you controls as you're playing (ie. about to do a takedown or a submission). The submission controls have also changed for the better with a sort-of mini-game (Octagon shaped gauge). Create a Fighter is average at best -most characters look similar. Career mode is improved -it focuses on fighting, not time wasting tasks and allows you to use a Roster fighter if desired.

Overall: 9/10. THQ took their time and you'll feel like you got your money's worth (on content alone). For those who've played the previous versions, you'll feel as if THQ listened to you and improved the game. Having played them and EA Sports MMA, I like this one the best.

After playing this game almost religiously for over a month now, I've got to say that overall, this is one of the wisest PS3 investments I've ever made. Everything about this game has me hooked. Being a UFC fan for several years, I can appreciate all the time and effort THQ put into this game to make it as realistic as possible while retaining all the fun of beating down your friends as well as taking a fighter through a career.

MAIN PROS:

Career Mode. Especially when you create your own fighter and take him through a career, this game does an outstanding job of making you feel like you're in the gym, the sparring session, and the Octagon. You actually train for your fights with drills and sparring (but you can skip the work and "automatically" train for half the stats) and it will make your fighter better depending on how you train. When my guy got called up for his first Pay-Per-View and took on an actual UFC fighter for the first time, it gave me chills. When I won my first title, I almost jumped up and down just like the fighter in the game. When you win, it's great and satisfying, especially when you knock your opponent out. When you lose (and you will), it's equally frustrating, especially if you get knocked out by a "lucky" shot.

Controls. Nice and tight, even in the advanced control setup. I jumped straight into the advanced controls from startup, and had little problem navigating and getting used to all the different possible positions. Several moves are similar in execution and there may be a lot to remember, but the more I played the more I got the hang of it. Swaying in the right direction is probably the hardest part of the control scheme. I find myself swaying the wrong way and getting popped a few times during fights, but that's the way real fights go. But when you get it right and pop off a hook that drops your opponent mid-swing, there's no feeling like it in the world. With all the moves at your disposal, it may be intimidating at first, but as you practice and learn them all, it becomes a lot more satisfying.

Accessory selection and customizing. Wow. So many sponsors, and so many ways to give your fighter a unique look. The sponsors themselves update in the Octagon online as well to match the actual Octagon setup during fights, which adds to the realism. Part of the fun for me is giving my fighters different looks and outfits every single fight, just like the real fighters do. As you progress through the game, you unlock more stuff to buy and accessorize with. You can even put together your own banner, if you have the patience.

Pride Mode. Yee-haw! Even though Pride is no longer around, it makes for a whole new depth to the game. Longer rounds, head stomping, more ground moves, a different roster, and even the ring itself add to the strategy (and heritage) and almost looks and feels like a whole other game. Your created fighter can go through a few Pride Grand Prix tournaments as well during Career Mode if he's good enough, and since it's another promotion it won't hurt your fighter's rating if you lose.

MAIN CONS:

Difficulty. The difference between Experienced and Advanced mode alone is ridiculous. I took a created middleweight through a career in Experienced mode; he won the WFA title in 5 fights, lost only 4 times his entire UFC career, beat the crap out of Anderson Silva for the UFC title, won 2 Pride Grand Prix, and got elected into the Hall of Fame while still active. Right now I'm taking pretty much the same fighter through a featherweight career in Advanced mode (with pretty much the same gameplan/strategy), and every UFC opponent I've faced so far has either folded me in half or knocked me into next month in the first round. I don't know if anyone else has noticed the difference in difficulty levels, but for me it was huge and almost takes away from the fun of the game.

The new submission system. Boooooo. The little rat maze mini-game is annoying at best and takes away from the in-game experience. It's almost like in the middle of a match you get transported to another dimension. I'd much rather try to wriggle out of a submission with transitions/escapes like in the previous game than play Octagon Pac-Man.

Sounds/commentary. While fun to listen to for a while, it gets pretty repetitive. Rogan and Goldberg have the exact chemistry they share during actual UFC fights, but if I hear "I don't think he's got it locked in" one more time while my opponent squirms out of yet another submission attempt...

Loading time. The game itself boots up pretty quick, but going between modes, between fights, and sometimes even while going through things like hairstyles or tattoo choices for your fighter, the load time is unacceptable. I guess I can understand this with as many features as this game has, but there had to be some workaround for that. I don't really like having to have something to read while waiting for the game to do its thing and get where it needs to go.

There are also lots of features to keep you playing for months; sponsors, clothing items, nicknames, entrances, new moves, live movies...it's going to be serious fun unlocking them all, and you can even customize what's already there and make it even more unique. Reliving actual UFC/Pride moments is pretty cool too, and leads to more unlockables in the game. All the usual modes from the previous games are there too, like tournaments and title mode. I haven't really done the online thing with this game much; I'm sure it's fun, but I don't tend to enjoy getting waxed by random Japanese 10-year-olds. For me, the excitement of Career Mode and taking a real fighter through the best moments in UFC history will probably keep my adrenaline flowing for months to come.

Overall, for fight fans who can appreciate all the intricacies of mixed martial arts and combat sports, this is definitely the complete package. It's got the "big fight feel" of actually being a part of the UFC and all of its history and heritage, with great controls that aren't too difficult for casual players. There are a few detractors, but not near enough to keep this from being a thoroughly enjoyable purchase. The difficulty issue will probably get better for me as I practice, but the initial frustration at the gap between difficulty levels is what took a star away from the overall rating. Otherwise, if you're a UFC fan and want as close to the real experience as it gets, this is what you've been waiting for.

I think the improvements they made on this game aren't very big changes but it has improved the gameplay a lot... all of the UFC games have been fun to play and this game is no exception to that.

Repaired my ylod PS3 with these pads plus replaced the old thermal compound with Arctic Silver. Works like a charm now!! The manufacture sent a generous sheet of thermal pad, more than enough. I drew a pattern around the old thermal pads and cut them out. Then, peeled both sides and stuck them on. Simple. They also have excellent customer service with quick e-mail responses. I'm very happy and satisfied with this item. Now I just hope my PS3 will last long.

Exactly as Advertised! These pads are of better quality then the Sony installed pads. Easy to install and work as needed. Seller sends enough to replace all thermal pads in the PS3 with some leftover (trust me, the pad looks small when you open it up, but you will definitely have some left over).

Pros

-High Quality, thick construction

-Easy to cut and use with a pocket knife or X-acto blade

-Blue (Personal Preference there)

Cons

-You have to cut them yourself? I'm lazy.

These pads are extremely great. They are thicker than most generic pads and retains its form even with continued pressure applied. I bought this pad along with new thermal paste strictly to reduce the temperature on my PS3 thus lowering the risk of damage. I have an older 60gb PS3 and its fan would rise up to its 3rd setting (loud) within 15 mins of use. My older 60gb PS3 has 4 fan setting, quiet (start up), silent (barely audible), loud, and supersonic. After changing out the old thermal pads and thermal paste now my PS3 stays at silent most of the time. During the summer it would reach loud after 2-2 1/2 hrs of continuous play while now it stays at silent no matter how long it's kept on. These pads are a great way to reduce heat on older 20/40/60/80gb PS3 especially when combined with new thermal paste. I would completely recommend this to anyone with older model PS3 running really loud, hot, and/or both.

I don't know how this received so many positive reviews, maybe I'm the only one who has had a bad experience, but I did not get what was promised. One tiny square only big enough to cover a single processor. That was all that was in the mail. 10 cm x 5 cm, enough for an entire unit, is what was promised, but not what was received. Luckily the old pads were still okay enough to make the unit work on all but one larger piece, and the one tiny pad I did get seemed like a great pad worth using. Just wished they actually provided the entire piece so I could use the great quality pad on all the parts, not just one.

updated 6/25/13: not only did i not receive what was promised, but they then tried to make me feel stupid on my original post as if i did not know the difference between 10 x 5 and 3 x 3. i originally gave them 2 stars since the tiny piece i did receive seems like a great quality, but since they are rude to customers i can only give one star.

Now the problem here is I don't have a control group. I used these thermal pads along with new thermal paste. See where I'm getting at? Now most of the new cooling may be attributed to the thermal paste I used (Arctic cooling MX-4). I'm no expert but the cooling pads felt like a much better quality than the original pads in the PS3. You will have enough to replace all the pads and some left over; which I used to replace a couple of pads in my laptop for fun.

So was this worth it? I would say yeah this contributed to my PS3 running a lot more cool and quiet now, but hey how would I really know? My point is if you're going to open up your PS3 and replace the thermal paste you might as well just replace the pads too... No harm done.
