This game is really fun (I haven't finished it) for those who don't get scared easily. Things just jump out at you in this game, which is the main factor in DANGEROUS Hunts :)

Tip: The hunter sense is first set up for Top Shot (for me it was) so I had to switch it to classic.

The Galleries are super fun! Especially classic mode, which is very similar to those shooting games in bars and arcades. They also have survival, treck, etc.

Storymode (so far) is also really fun. Very compelling storyline. It's not just go hunt a wolf or a bear or a lion. There's an even bigger predator in this game. I have no idea what it is! But it makes me want to keep playing and find out.

since I do not have top shot elite or Move. All I have is the basic wireless PS3 controller so playing is slightly more frustrating. I had to increase the sensitivity so it would react faster.

I'm kinda obsessive about graphics, and I have to say, in this game they really worked on making the animals fightening. (which is good)

Basically, Dangerous Hunts 2011 is fun, scary, compelling, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The only real problem I have, is the controls which take a little while to get used to.

I highly recommend buying this for anyone who has enjoyed previous Cabela games!

An awesome mans' man game where you can lay waste to Bambi and friends!! I actually bought this because I had to get the Singstar game and didn't want to appear unmanly to the store clerks and fellow customers..!!

Seriously though, this is a great shoot-em-up alternative to the other PS Move-enabled shooting games out there, where you shoot cardboard bandits or robots...

The shooting gallery part is awesome manly fun, with the 80s rock soundtrack, scurrying critters and awesome sound effects... It almost reminds me of the old carnival shooting gallery games, only this time with live animals!

The adventure game, despite its mediocre graphics and its sometimes inconsistent rails-shooter feeling is surprisingly engaging. Gameplay centers around hunting, which Cabela Hunting fans should love.

This is actually a neat little FPS for the PS Move as you also have to use a direction controller (you can also use Sixaxis controller with the PS Move for this). You also have to wave the PS Move around to avoid animal attacks..! Minuses though You have to keep the PS Move within the cameras eyeshot all the time or the game will stop.. which means you have to calibrate it so that you dont have to hold it up during the long dramatic man's man story sequences and tire yourself out...

It is a fun game and I enjoyed it, at least for a little while. With only 18 story missions and 4 different guns, I felt it was a little short. I don't think it's a bad game, just not as good as the previous versions of Dangerous Hunts. Since it is not that expensive I would suggest trying it if you like these kind of games.

A lot to improve in graphics, but you know that not all in a game are this point. Nothing new for a FPS game. But, this is the only kind of game where you can really experience hunting.

The Africa environment is incredible and very fun to keep looking for avoiding snakes on the road. You can experience a Hippopotamus attack on a river, alligators and lions. The move controller without a rifle is terrible, you must own a rifle to fully enjoy the move control or avoid using it.

I just have 2011 edition and I don't like the gallery type of games so I don't know if there is a more recent edition with such rich story line.

I've very troubled by many gaming journalists and top reviewers for some of the major on-line gaming magazines. Apparently, Start the Party was not much of a game for them, It's as if they reviewed this with 16 year old Call of Duty fans in mind. Come on folks, lighten up and have some fun.

While Sports Champions is without a doubt the strongest launch title for the PS3 Move, there's no denying that Start the Party has plenty of charm and some kick-ass augmented reality effects. Matter of fact, it's the best "show off" game of the bunch. Yes, there are only so many mini games you will take part of before they get repeated, but there are difficulty settings and various modes to break things up. This is not the kind of game you lock yourself in a room with and play through out the night. You invite some friends/family in front of the large screen TV and laugh your butt off! I'm sorry, but watching yourself on live feed holding various in-game items is absolutely eye popping hilarious. The mini games are actually quite fun, and technically make any WarioWare micro game look fossilized. Both young and old will have a blast; the very young will be hypnotized by the visuals, and teens will probably have fun but won't dare admit it (the sorry state of adolescent males).

This is a fun game to play with our kids (age 4 & 7). They all enjoyed the game and we certainly enjoyed playing it with them. This is the best PS3 game that I've found that allows us to play a game as a family. The games are varied, but easy to pick up. It would be nice to have more games, but as of right now it is not too repetitive. I'm also not sure how much we'd be playing this game if it was only adults playing. But all in all, a very entertaining family game and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a light-hearted, not too intense game to play with your children.

i don't own the full game but i have the demo and this is the favorite move game for everyone! im buying it since we keep playing the demo over and over which only has 3 different types of party games to it. Also after playing this game my friends canceled their xbox 360 kinect motion controller bundles pre-order! kinect seems interesting but you cant fake the precision a controller gives you while playing video games, especially one like the Move!

I went and picked this up today and I was hesitant at first due to the bad reviews it got, but I took a chance. Well lets say I can see why they call it Start the PARTY, it's definetley a party game. I only played by myself, but I thought it was fun. I understand it's geared towards kids and I'm 26 but I like it. I love how they put a tool actually in your hand, they overlap the actual move controller with a paintbrush or flashlight or fan etc. This game is cool because you see yourself on screen with the various tools you get to use. I honestly think this game could be a huge hit with my buddies and I while drinking some beers, it's competitive and goofy and will surely put smiles on your faces. I'll update after I have people over but so far I'm loving this title, I can really see kids having a blast with this more than me obviously.

I got myself PS3 Move edition and was left feeling that the Move games were not all that exciting after all. Sports Champs are ok, but noone in my family was drawn in. We do play on PS3 a lot (between myself, my wife, and our 7 y.o. son), but it's been non-Move games. I read the reviews here and was a little bit put off by the number of negative or lukewarm reviews. One day, though, we had friends over and all our kids were running around and screaming a little bit much, so I wanted something that would keep them all occupied and in place ordered this game. All I can say is that it worked out perfectly over the holidays!

The game is kinda fun if you play on your own, but you probably wouldn't play it for more than 10 mins. With a group of people, though, it's a completely different experience. Trying to outcompete your friends adds a lot more purpose and excitement to the game. The best thing is that it appeals almost equally to all ages and sexes both boys and girls were playing, ages 6 through 13 I can imagine few activities where these kids would all be involved together. (The adults looked on with great interest too, but the kids were having too much fun and we let them play). And you can actually set the difficulty level for each player separately, so you can even out the chances of winning pretty well. The game also has a nice mix of games and modes of play, so that you can play for a couple of hours and you don't get bogged down. It's very fast-paced and exciting.

Actually, after all of the holiday parties we decided to play as a family. We played 3 games (something like 20 rounds) over an hour-plus and had a blast. With the difficulty levels appropriately set, each game was very competitive and each one of us ended up winning one game. My wife and I both ended up playing so hard that our arms hurt the next day. :)

To sum up, this is not a game a lot of people would play by themselves. However, if you are having a party, this is the game to have. I cannot imagine a better game for such a setting no prior skills required! Well worth the money.

Bought this game for our 7 year old grandson to play when he comes to visit. He loves it and he could play it for hours if we let him. And, if there are adults in the house while he is playing everyone wants to play the game. My sister who is not one to play games had fun playing this one. The game said we would need the camera eye and hand held motion controller to play it but it works just fine without these. The regular controller that come with the PS3 are all you need. No need for the extra expense.

As a longtime fan of the game on multiple platforms, I'm happy to say that this is a really great port of the game. Once you get over the initial oddity in controls you'll be right back to where you were when playing it on PC, Android, or iOS. There are however some things that bother me about the game. First of all the volume.. it's loud VERY loud. Even if you adjust it via the settings the music and effects are still almost unbearably loud with my tv at normal volume (11 or 12). If I turn down everything to the first or 2nd notch under settings it's ok but still a bit on the loud side. Any other game on PS3 sounds fine at this volume as does other media such as music or movies. That aside even after you have set your volume preferences they're pointless on startup. The game starts at full volume until you press the start button to get past the main menu then it throttles down. I usually just have to mute my tv when I start the game otherwise it'll startle me from the other room when I run to get a snack after inserting the disc. Aside from the volume the credits are crazy long, this isn't super important but anyone who's played the original will understand why I mention it. I was scrolling for a good 3 minutes. Anyway back to the game itself. All the promised levels are here and more. The gameplay is a tad different but still fun and the layout of everything as decent enough. I don't like that I can't scroll backwards through the chapter select screen but it has always been like that so not really an issue. As others have mentioned price is a factor here.. I purchased the game for 19.99$ around the time of amazon's black friday sale. 20 bucks for 3 angry birds games is perfect imho. Now that the price has gone back up you may want to wait for a sale or buy it used. There is no DLC code included nor is there any available at this time so buying it used/like new won't hurt ya. I very much look forward to DLC possibly being added in the future so that I can play Space and possibly Star Wars, but I'm not going to hold my breath in the meantime incase it never happens. Anyway I need to go play now before my lunch is over. :p

My wife and I played the down loadable PS3 game (we are in our 40's). She loved it.

I got the Trilogy because it's the only game she likes and it gives us more time together. We get to poke fun at each other for bad shots, it's good honest fun.

It was very expensive as far as I'm concerned, but well worth it.

The game it's self is great. Lots of (new to us) levels. Hours and hours of play time.

This game works much better than the $3 PS3 downloaded game.

Great scenery, better control and new (to us) features.

Well made, cool design. Like how the rubber tips actually do deaden the clacking noise from hitting the drum pad. Also came with matching guitar skin.

When I first got my Rock Band 2 set with the Rock Band drums (Xbox 360), I loved it but I wasn't too thrilled with "whack" sound made by the drum sticks on the drum heads even though I crank my home theater system to "11" I can still hear the "whack" which detracts from the experience somewhat. So when I saw this kit at my local K-Mart (of all places!) I picked it up.

The new drum sticks are a little fatter than the original RB drum sticks. The new ones are also made of wood but painted with a glossy black paint with a design on it. Rubber tips are fitted over the normal drum stick tips (you *can* take off the rubber tips if you want to). When playing the RB drums, instead of hearing a sharp "whack" you now hear more of a dull "thud". You also get a better bounce off of the drum head. So I recommend these if you just use the basic drum-kit without the cymbals.

Now, if you use the cymbals, I found a couple of issues. First off, because the cymbals are rubberized, you don't get as good a bounce off the cymbals with the rubberized tips as you do with the bare wood tips. Also, if you're using the original cymbal-kit for RB2, I found that hitting the cymbals at an angle the edges of the rubber tips would catch on the edge of the cymbal and start to pull the drum tips off. This is not a problem on the new RB3 "pro" cymbal kit which hang at an angle instead of straight.

The decal sticker "skin" for the guitar (a purple tiger with glowing eyes) is pretty cool and it wasn't difficult at all to put on (just work slowly and carefully). I've used my guitar with the decal for over a year and it has not worn off nor has it faded like the other reviewer mentioned.

So bottom line is that the decal is pretty cool and the rubberized drum sticks help with drumming on the main kit but is just OK when hitting the pro cymbals.

i love these sticks but the color on them transfers from the stick it self to my hands, if only the colors wouldnt fade i would have given it 5 stars.

I bought this kit because I have some neighbors who come over to play Rockband with me, and we wanted something fun to add to our controllers. The Drumsticks this kit comes with are larger than the ones that came with the game, and work much better in my opinion (Plus are easy to grip and do not give splinters). The Guitar strap is nice but looks a little cheap, and the guitar facing is like a sticker and difficult to get right the first time. I think it should be a little less money than what it's normally sold for. But if you want something fun to add to Rockband, and you got money to burn, then this pack is for you.

I was immediately attracted to this offer, as it contains four skins priced less than most who sell skins on a per piece deal. They grip your hand without adding any bulk. It doesn't impede or impair your playing, rather it works in concert with you. My hands tend to stay moist while playing, however, it isn't an issue with the skins, given it grips anything; dirty hands, wet hands, dry hands. Unfortunately, I must remove it before placing it in the four tier Nyko Charger.

I was hoping to get a similar skin to the Psyclone brand, which are excellent skins, however that is not how it is. First off, these skins are not the same as pictured in the product advertisements. That isn't a very big deal however, the pictures lead you to believe that you're going to get side grips. Well you don't. Second, these skins don't grip as well as the Psyclone skins--these feel almost slick in your hands. Thirdly, they are not built as well. The Psyclone skins are thick and feel durable. These are very thin and I felt as if they were going to break as I tried to fit them over the controller.

In the end I took this skin off my controller and gave the others away. For the price they aren't bad however, there are better skins to be had--Unfortunately it's looking like the Psyclone brand is no longer being sold! :(

I really like this guitar. For this review I'm comparing it to the Rock Band guitar. (I own a PS3, but have played Xbox as well)

Positives:

Very sturdy. It's slightly bigger and heavier than RB guitar that makes it feel less like a toy.

Very responsive--it only takes a slight tip to activate Star Power.

Unlike RB, the buttons protrude from the neck and are curved, so sliding up and down notes is much easier.

The buttons are spaced out better than RB, so normal sized hands don't bump adjacent buttons. For new players, it also makes it easier to know where your hand is positioned without having to look.

It clicks when you strum, making it easier to keep the beat.

2 options to activate star power. Tip the guitar up, or hit the button next to the strum bar (works in both games).

Neck Slider. The new neck slider is kinda cool, allowing you to tap on it instead of strumming notes. It can also be used for a different distortion sound, or in certain parts of the song where the notes are chained together. The slider is disabled when playing RB.

Negatives:

The clicking is very loud and can get annoying, especially to those in the room that are not playing.

The PS button / directional controller is too close to the whammy and can easily get bumped. If the directional controller is bumped, it thinks you hit a wrong note. If the PS button is bumped, the game gets paused. Once you're used to the guitar, you learn to avoid it.

There are limited distortion options. (there's no switch like RB) Very minor.

Children or adults with very small hands may find it a stretch to play the 1st and 5th button at the same time, but you won't need to worry about this until you get to Expert mode.

I have had no problems with timing, connectivity, or notes registering correctly, except when the batteries are almost dead. If you notice these problems, TRY REPLACING YOUR BATTERIES. The only problem I've had is that my neck slider is overly sensitive when I try to play the GHWT connected notes. Easy solution--I play the notes normally.

TIP: If you own a guitar hero guitar or drum set, I recommend picking up a rechargeable battery pack made by Blockhead. They're super cheap and work great. I have one for each of my instruments:

I bought the Rock Band "Fender" over a year ago and between the "mushy" strum bar and non-functional tilt (overdrive or star power activation), playing Rock Band was far less fun than it should have been. I bought this Guitar Hero World Tour guitar recently and it has made playing Rock Band a blast. The strum bar is more like the "clicky" bar of the older Guitar Hero guitars and the tilt activation doesn't require you to tilt the guitar almost vertically to activate overdrive, I'd say it's more like a 22 degree tilt which keeps me from getting distracted and therefore missing notes. I actually improved so quickly I was finally able to move up to hard difficulty. I'm playing Rock Band 2 mostly now, this guitar is compatible with all versions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Buy Guitar Hero World Tour - Stand Alone Guitar Now

Good news to PS3 owners. The lag has been fixed. After comparing the Les Paul and World Tour guitars, this is much more responsive and does not drop notes like the Les Paul does. Also, the connection (detachable neck) between the neck and guitar has been hardened to prevent issues with the frets like the Les Paul did on some models.

But, that doesn't mean this is the perfect guitar.

For one, I experienced strumming issues on my first guitar after a few hours of playing. It would register a proper strum 25% of the time (most of the time it would drop a strum or double-strum). So I exchanged it for a new one. And whad'ya know? It, AGAIN, goes through more strumming issues after a few hours of play. I was about to return it for a new one again. But after doing some research, the issues were because of faulty SPDT switches under the strum bar. So instead of returning it, I opened up my guitar and replaced them with much higher quality switches. Now the guitar no longer has strumming issues.

But I'm still unhappy. Sometimes when I elbow-strum to 2-hand-tap on complex hammer-on parts, my elbow would hit the start or select button, which results in pausing the game or activating star power at unwanted times. So, again, I open up my guitar and remove one of the start buttons. This fixes the accidental pausing, but not the accidental star power activation. I prefer the other models where there is 1 start button and 1 star power button, both the same size, further away from the strum bar.

The strum bar is ok, but the other models' strum bars are much better. This one is too long. Sometimes, it's hard to strum at extreme speeds (such as the beginning of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" on Expert difficulty). It feels more mushy and springy that accidental double-strumming can occur.

Overall: I do like the feel and responsiveness, but it could've been much better.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that StarHawk is a solid multiplayer game and has less of a focus on single player. Both aspects of the game are good, however the multiplayer is outstanding.

I bought this game from GameStop, not Amazon, simply due to the extra features and bonuses in the Limited Edition which is only available at GameStop. I feel ashamed because I am a very faithful Amazon shopper, but for this release Amazon did not offer what I wanted and what I would have expected.

First off the game takes up a good 2.5gigs, there's already a new update, and you need to have an online pass to play online, which is included. But keep in mind that if you buy it used you will need to purchase the online pass from SONY for $10.

Below are my pros and cons. Though every game has it's cons, I can tell that Starhawk is an instant classic just after my first few hours of game play.

PRO's:

+ Amazing Multiplayer! Probably the best, most unique I have ever played. A lot of fun!

+ The campaign story, style, and cut scenes remind me a lot of Infamous. Voice-acting is quite good.

+ Simple easy to use menu system. There are many options for online play. Everything is so very well integrated.

+ Graphics are quite good, very smooth and fast. Control and vehicle control are perfect in my opinion. They are tight and come very naturally.

+ Soundtrack rocks. Very unique classic, yet modern style. Meshes well with the game.

CON's:

A little more attention should have been paid to single player, however multiplayer shines so well I can forgive that.

You cannot play the entire single player campaign split-screen. Only multiplayer and co-op are available split screen, and a playstation Network account must be active for the second player.

Single player campaign is 4 hours long at the most and the A.I. seems a little dated at times.

After my first few hours of playing I loved it, for the single player but most of all the multiplayer, which is intensely addicting. For those who didn't have the opportunity to play the beta, the style of Starhawk reminds me of a mixture of Halo, Infamous, and a 3rd person Borderland, but it also has a weird futuristic western style all its own. You can run on foot or use your power orbs to generate/spawn an array of land and air vehicles, walls, turrets, shields, or weapon bunkers. The more power you have the more vehicle and weapon choices you have, which is very helpful in multiplayer. It is a lot of fun and gives you different options of how to play. No, it is not a stealth game, however you can be a little sneaky at times. Or you can just fly your hawk in and destroy everything and everyone.

I must highly suggest this game for all of you multiplayer gamers out there, as this is a must own. I would not recommend this simply for the single player campaign, while it is good, it is not $60 good, or even $40 good. I would hold out a few months until it goes on sale, or simply rent it as you can finish the campaign in a weekend. Multiplayer is where Starhawk shines and it is very much worth the cost.

In the early days of the PS3, Santa Monica studios created a multiplayer only title called Warhawk. It was a fun game with big maps, a few beefy chunks of dlc thrown in, and a devoted multiplayer. Devoted to the point that even years later it was still one of the most played games on the PSN. This group naturally left the entry bar set incredibly high to new comers months or even years late to the party, however, now that the sequel is here, even those who didn't play the beta will be on pretty square footing with the most battle hardened warriors of Warhawk fame.

The single player campaign serves as little more than a really long and well rounded tutorial for the online game. It goes over the basics of what buildings are good for what situation, which weapons are more important, and the best areas to call in your oribital gear from. You see, in the world of Starhawk, your team has an oribital station that (granted you have enough of the easily earned rift energy) will drop whole buildings, garages, turrets, shield generators, walls, and other goodies for you and your team to use. Knowing how to best utilize these impressive structures will ensure your victory online and off line. When you are not tinkering with the impressive 'Build' part of the 'Build and Battle' system, you will be wholly engrossed in the battle portion. The fighting in Starhawk is actually pretty basic compared to most games in terms of being a 3rd person run and gun game, however, with the ability to mount several different kinds of vehicles (tanks, speeder bikes, jeeps with turrets, and the obviously macross inspired Hawks) and to take over automatted turrets for bringing down those vehicles or just blasting them with rocket launchers or fixing your gear with tool kits or laying mines (phew!).....You get the idea. The combat is rather simple on the surface, but there is so much action going on and so much versatility as your teams turn a barren and large map into a massive industrial complex of death and war that it is almost staggering, but it never feels overwhelming.

The combat for online consists of 16 vs 16 player teams and runs the gauntlet with the usual gameplay types. Capture the Flag and Zones are probably two of the better recommended types as they show off the "Build and Battle" system far more than your deathmatch gametypes do.

There is a constant sense of adrenaline surging through you even as you accomplish the most basic of tasks, because your doom could be fast approaching in a mechanized suit that feels no remorse, or maybe your enemy will just summon a building on top of you or respawn on to you through a drop pod falling through the sky.

As with its predecessor there are no clearly superior weapons or vehicles. There is a good sense of balance here. Sure the Hawks can pepper you with rockets and fly at stupid speeds across the map, however, they are essentially made of glass and there are so many weapons that can take them out in one or two hits with a homing ability, the pilots are scared to tears when flying in your air zone. The tanks can take a good deal of damage and dish it out, but the are slow and easy target for grenade tosses and rocket blasts, the speeder bikes are very agile and can't be locked onto, but you have no offense with them and they fall apart easier than the hawks do, and the jeeps rely on a secondary person to have an affordable offense. Walking around the map without a vehicle makes you slow, makes you vulnerable, but it gives access to a massive arsenal of destruction and makes you a force to be reckoned with in your own right.

Balance is acheieved here, strategy for building placement ensures a fresh feeling round every time, and Santa Monica studios has a history of keeping the fanbase for their games happy with updates and great dlc down the road.

The only down side is the single player campaign feels like a missed oppurtunity, however, the multiplayer is probably one of the best on any console in many years. Starhawk took risks with its formula, but it gambled big and won as far as I am concerned. -1 for the story campaign, but you would be foolish to pass the title up if you are an online shooter fan. Be advised though, picking it up used will require a purchase of a PSN pass ($10) to play it online.

Buy Starhawk Now

First and foremost, Starhawk looks fantastic. I love the dust bowl in space setting and even though it isn't an original concept it isn't something seen in games all that often. I also love the fact this stars a black guy. It may seem like an odd thing to like but what was the last game you played where a black guy's the protagonist and he isn't token black guy? Exactly.

Also, the controls feel right. I played the beta and shooting didn't have that "oomph" I look for and I feel like there's been an improvement. The vehicles all handle like you would expect them to so no matter what wheel you're behind it only takes a moment to feel at home. The same for flying the Hawks. It just feels awesome. I love the transformation as well. Very cool stuff.

In regard to single-player, they're 10 chapters, and each chapter has a varying amount of checkpoints, depending on what's being asked of you as a player; however, it's either the last checkpoint or back to the beginning of the chapter. It may not seem like a big deal, but when the object is to defend a rig and you survive the initial waves, game checkpoints, but the rig is a few hits from destruction, it is virtually impossible to survive the final wave, because each time you die, you're brought back to the checkpoint with the rig on the verge of exploding.

It's frustrating, because this can happen near the end of a chapter, and if you find yourself in an impossible situation, you have to start at the very beginning. There's no interim saves, either. If you're mid-chapter and have to stop playing, when you start again you're back to the beginning of the chapter.

Please note this is an issue for Mercenary mode only; the game isn't terribly difficult even on this setting, but it's certainly a challenge. It just puts you in a poor position to succeed at times. If you're playing on Normal or Hard, I don't see this being a problem at all, especially normal, since it is supposedly cake.

So, since single-player was pissing me off, I played multiplayer. Started with TDM. And, surprisingly, the game is more like Warhawk than I imagined. Granted, this was TDM, not Zones or CTF where people are utilizing the building in a more defensive minded way. Overall, people were just building **** because they wanted to fly a Hawk and that's all there is to it. You just have to get yourself in the mindset that if you want a sniper rifle, it's going to cost you 3 building points (which regenerate when near a base). Build it, sniper rifle. So, I was pleased with this, because I really enjoyed Warhawk.

I moved on to Zones next, and I feel this is where Starhawk really shines. It wasn't as defensive as I expected, with a nice tug-of-war to win back bases and conquer the map. Completely obliterating the opponent with a surge of tanks and hawks is hilarious and awesome, though being on the receiving end of such an assault is not so awesome. The game remains fun though, which is what's important.

CTF simply didn't do it for me. It was too defensive for my tastes, though it may be up your alley. A lot of people build extensive strongholds around the flag, leading to a lot of draws because it's too difficult to assault successfully. A well organized clan may have fun with it, but I'm not in one of those, nor do I care to be.

Anyway, I'm pleased so far. I was hesitant to pick it up because the beta wasn't doing it for me but so far I'm glad I did. I hope to really tackle the multi-player this weekend. At the least, the game is unlike anything I've played, including Warhawk. It's such an odd marriage of shooting/flying/driving/building/strategy. Worth checking out if you're one of the "All these games are the same!" types.

If you're not interested in MP or co-op then I can't recommend it. I don't see the content carrying you over anything than a weekend.

Hands down the best multiplayer on ps3, Rts/shooter hybrid is a great idea. When you are in a vehicle it feels like the game is designed just for that one vehicle. The makers of this game really need a high five for that. Single-player is short, but sweet and teaches you the ins & outs of multiplayer. Co-op(splitscreen or online)is also included which is also fun.

Pros

-32 player online

-co-op

-Unique

-combines a few genres into one

The Good Things

*Darn awesome story (Pandora's box opens, and monsters come out to invade New York; I got to wonder why nobody made a movie out of this first).

*Characters are okay (they remind me a little bit of the characters in "Resistance" though. Heck, the whole thing is a bit like "Resistance.").

*Excellent production design. The creatures are wicked (but without being overly scary or gross). The environments are big, detailed, and well-designed.

*Even though the gameplay is simple and straightforward, the levels are very well-designed. You can expect all sorts of crazy stuff to happen as you move along; it's very cinematic without relying on cutscenes.

*There is some interactivity in the environment. Enemies throw stuff, and you can solve some puzzles by moving/altering/destroying things.

*Aside from the usual range of weapons, you also get to use a few superpowers.

*Includes some online multiplayer games.

*Excellent graphics quality. There are loads of details in the textures, and there are lots of objects in each environment. Particle effects are great. One part featured a textured glass wall, and it looked surprisingly realistic. Character renderings are just okay, but everything else looks swell. This is all presented in either 720p or 1080i resolution.

*Sound design and quality are terrific.

*Excellent music; lots of good rock and metal tracks to accentuate the atmosphere and action (ala "Max Payne"). I'm gonna have to find a soundtrack for this game...

The Bad Things

*AI is not the greatest (ever see a soldier shoot a wall before?).

*Not for kids; rated M for bloody violence.

The Questionable Things

*Gameplay is extremely straightforward. You simply follow the waypoints and kill enemies along the way. Some puzzles are challenging, but it is still very linear. It's good if you want something straightforward, but after playing "Farcry 2" and "Fallout 3," it seems overly simplistic.

Wow, the first few minutes of gameplay blew me away. As soon as you start, you are immediately immersed in a world where all heck breaks loose and monsters sprawl out everywhere. From then on, it's a typical FPS. But for the most part, it does have georgeous graphics and a smart premise of a story.

I myself, as a gamer, find myself able to enjoy any game I play. Alpha Protocol was claimed to be an incredibly buggy game, with last-gen shooting mechanics. I found the game to be a work of art, with respectable shooting mechanics and a fantastic conversation system. Fuel was claimed to be a terribly boring game, with very little reason to explore it's huge open world. I found the game to be one of the best racing games ever, and thought the immense open world full of things to explore and unlock. Blacksite: Area 51 was claimed to be a buggy, run-of-the-mill shooter, with a bland story, and brain-dead AI squadmates. I found the AI to be incredibly dependable, and the story to be the most unique and engaging plot-line in the history of first-person shooters.

Now we come to Legendary, a game that was claimed to be an overly linear and bland shooter. The game had incredibly mediocre review scores, and was claimed to play like a last-gen game. Even with these bad reviews, I wanted it. The story sounded awesome, and slaughtering werewolves sounded absolutely amazing. So I picked it up for $10 at Gamestop. I put it in my PS3, intending to play it for a brief 15 minutes to test out the gameplay mechanics.

One hour later...

I was immediatly hooked on the game. The game was a work of art as far as I was concerned. The introductory sequence was one of the most jaw-dropping gameplay sequences I had ever witnessed, right next to Uncharted 2's introduction. Once the intro was over, and you got to slaughtering werewolves and fire drakes, the fun never ceased to stop.

Let's start with the story. Charles Deckard, an international art thief, has been hired by a mysterious employer named LeFey, and his associate, Vivian, to steal a box from a museum basement in New York. Unknown to Deckard, the box is actually Pandora's Box, a box said to contain all the worlds evils. Deckard accidentally opens the box, releasing mythological creatures into the world, and burning a mysterious signet into his hand. Once Deckard escapes the museum, he finds giant griffons flying through the streets, werewolves feasting on human corpses, and fire drakes taking over the subways. Deckard then finds out that he and Vivian have been double-crossed by LeFey's and his private organization, the Black Order. On the run from LeFey, Deckard and Vivian must find a way to recontain the creatures before all of civilization falls.

The story is incredibly unique and engaging, thanks to some interesting characters and creatures. However, the best part of the story is in it's cinematic polish. As stated earlier, the games opening sequence is stunning. Deckard is escaping from a museum that's literally falling apart around him. Once he escapes, he must run across the street, while griffons are hurling cars at civilians (or vice versa). The game is a cinematic tour de force, and is right up there with other titles this year. Couple this with the fantastic script and the immense variety of creatures, and you have a game that impresses.

The gameplay is also impressive, with unique and varied gameplay that keeps you engaged until the end. Spark Unlimited has done a fantastic job of varying the enemy types throughout the lengthy campaign. There is a huge amount of creatures you'll have to face in the game. There are werewolves, alpha werewolves (stronger and faster werewolves), fire drakes, griffons, Nari (little fairies that possess objects and throw them at you), and minotars rampaging through the world. Each of these creatures take a different tactic to beat, adding to the immense variety. Shotguns are best used for werewolves. Fire drakes are vulnerable to the fire axe, as well as water. To hose them down, you can shoot the fire hydrants throughout the game. Nari can phase in and out of reality. An animus pulse (talk about it later) brings them to regular form. Proceeding this by a spray of assualt rifle bullets should do the trick.

As well as these creatures, you also have to face Black Order soldiers in fun human vs. human skirmishes. The enemy AI can be questionable at times, but only on rare occasions. The human enemies you face take cover intelligently, and you have to move from cover to cover to flank them. Even better are the three-way battles, which put Deckard vs. Black Order vs. creatures. These battles are an absolute blast to play through.

The mysterious signet in Deckard's arm brings about an interesting gameplay mechanic animus. See, the signet allows Deckard to see into another dimension. This dimension is full of Animus energy. See, animus is an energy that can heal you, and allow you to use an animus pulse. Killing creatures gives you animus to absorb. This may not sound like much, but animus changes the entire dynamic of the game. While most shooters use a regenerative health system that allows you to regain health by simply staying in cover, Legendary smartly doesn't use one. Considering that Animus energy is fairly rare, you feel like you're at the mercy of these mythological creatures. This causes you to depend on Animus energy, and make every time you run into a cloud of Animus a treat. The signet also allows you to send out an Animus pulse, which can be used against all creatures in the game. The pulse ability is a very useful mechanic. It's (in my opinion) the most effective way to take out Nari. It's also handy when you run out of ammo.

Overall, the gameplay of Legendary is incredibly varied and unique, and an absolute blast to play through. The cinematic polish and fun gameplay keeps you hooked until the very end.

Graphically, Legendary is a treat. The environments are loaded with detail, and the creature designs and animations are incredible. Seeing a griffon swoop in, grab a civilian, and eat it is intimidating, and the incredible detail in everything makes it all the more sweet. The game can also support tons of people and creatures at once, and the game handles it without a hitch. There are a few minor anti-aliasing issues here and there, but the game is still a great looking game.

The audio is fantastic as well. The weapon sound effects are great you'll feel the gunfire in your gut. The voice acting is fantastic, with a great script and believable acting. The music is kind of old school, but in a good way. It kind of reminds me of Doom. The fairly generic rock pieces actually fit suprisingly well. Overall, the audio is as polished as every other componet of the game.

The game is a suprisingly long game, covering 10 or more hours of total gameplay time. Luckily, the length doesn't affect the overall pacing of the game, which is masterful. There are little peices of data to collect throughout the game, which include information about creatures, weapons, objectives, and organizations, as well as intercepted text messages that are interesting to read. There are no trophies, but considering everything there is to do in the game, this doesn't affect replay value.

There is also a multiplayer componet, but there isn't anyone online to play with. There are approximately 0 people online 24/7. This is a bummer, but considering there is a lengthy campaign, data peices to collect, and three difficulty levels to try, I don't think you'd be missing much with multiplayer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is my review summary. The following is rated on a 10 out of 10 scale.

Story: 10

An absolutely fantastic story, with interesting characters and diverse creatures. The cinematic polish helps tremendously.

Graphics: 9.5

The amount of detail loaded into the environments is impressive. The amount of things going on at once is also impressive. A few anti-aliasing issues here and there, but the game as a whole looks amazing.

Audio: 10

The sound effects and the voice acting are fantastic. The music is old school, but in a good way think Doom.

Gameplay: 10

The immense variety, fast-paced gameplay, and the clever Animus system all add together to make a fantastic game.

Lasting Appeal: 9.0

With a lengthy campaign, multiple difficulty levels, and little peices of data to collect, there is a lot to do. The dead multiplayer hurts somewhat, and trophies would have helped.

Overall score: 9.5

Great story, great character design, great animation, good gameplay, OK graphics that sums up this game. You play as Charles Deckard, an unlikely hero. The story starts with the Deckard opening Pandora's box unwittingly. Mythical creatures are unleashed into the world creating pandemonium gryphons, firedrakes, werewolves, golems to name a few. Your mission is to save the world and you get to kill these creatures in the process. You get a signet engraved on your hand when you opened the box and this serves as your source of power through the game. You can use the signet to acquire animus which can be used to restore health and also to do certain attacks. This also means there is no health packs to pickup as is typical for FPS. Instead you pickup the animus that is left behind from fallen creatures. The character design and animation is exceptional. I don't like the fact that cutscenes are not skippable. The game gets saved on a checkpoint basis not bad if you don't die much. The music is top class, but not everyone might like it. Subtle touches like people rescuing others and subway trains whizzing past you only to crash ahead are pretty good.

Overall a great game and a great bargain especially for the price it sells for now. Buy it!!

I'd had heard bad reviews for this game before even getting it, but still wanted to try it out. It's a fun game to pick up once and a while, but don't expect anything really substantial. If you like shooting griffins and werewolves with machine guns, you'll have fun. Haven't finished it, but so far the story is it's premise: Shoot monsters in a city setting.

Singularity is an excellent one-player FPS experience; unfortunately it is only about 6-7 hours long. These few hours of gameplay are extremely fun, and I plan to tackle it again as you can approach the many awesome set-pieces and enemy encounters in a myriad of ways, but you could really get away with knocking this game out twice in a single rental. Unless you are getting it out of the discount bin this is probably not worth a purchase a 6 hour campaign in a game like CoD:MW2 can be forgiven when the multiplayer is the real meat of the game, but Singularity is campaign-focused, so it is ultimately just lacking in content.

That said, Singularity does very well what most games do poorly: it steals from other great games while adding in a few ideas of its own. The Time-Manipulation Device (TMD) around which most of the game is based more or less functions like the gravity gun in Half-Life 2, but you can also use it to create time-freezing bubbles (like in Ratchet and Clank: a Crack in Time), or to 'fast-forward' or 'rewind' enemies and some items in time. You will use all of these functions to solve puzzles and kill Russian troops of the past and present as well as some interesting creatures (giant spiders that launch rockets out of their mouths? check). The 'feel' of the game is ripped straight from Bioshock, including similar colors and abandoned environments; ditto for the pickups and upgrades, though the weapons lockers and TMD stations aren't as inspired as the vending machines in Bioshock. There isn't nearly as much insane variety for your non-gun hand either. But the weapons that go boom are a heck of a lot cooler in Singularity, and the core shooting mechanics are just smoother and more satisfying. Here the game takes from Call of Duty with a nice, quick auto-aim when you go down sights. It compiles the best elements of some of the best games and puts them all together, and they, surprisingly, all blend well into what somehow ends up a moderately original experience.

The reason this all succeeds so well is because of pacing and variety. I am honestly ok with the short length of the campaign because you rarely go through the same type of gameplay twice. You will be shooting down troops in standard FPS style, sneaking by some ferocious creatures in another, battling a giant RE5 inspired boss on a collapsing train in the next, even working through a time-shifting, rocking old ship in the harbor at one very cool point. The enemies vary a lot and there is a ton of choice in weapons: pick the pair you like and you will be able to upgrade them and stick with them, or move on to something different. They are all there to be checked out of weapons lockers all along the way. Or you can focus on TMD powers and kill enemies in less bullet-oriented ways. It all comes together to form an experience that is scripted throughout, but leaves a lot of player choice as to how to make it through a well-crafted sequence.

As for the basics, the graphics are good but not top tier, and the story is entertaining but nothing to write home about. It all fits well within the game's genre and world though. There are definitely worse ways to spend money on a game, but the lack of content on the disc could be a serious issue for many out there. I am definitely satisfied with it but perhaps it would have been more successful as a digital release with a lower price tag. It is a great game, it is just hard to justify as a full MSRP title.

Let me first say that if this game had come out last month I might have overlooked it. I decided to buy it on release day because there is not much coming out this month and I need something to play. I was unsure how I would like this game because the reviews have been somewhat lower than I expected they would be. I love first person shooters, however; so I took the chance. I'm glad I did. This game is great, just not perfect. It reminds me of Timeshift/Doom3/Quake4/Wolfenstein. The controls are tight and are mapped like Call of Duty with the exception of a few new controls. The atomosphere is gloomy but well presented. I won't go into too much detail as to not ruin any suprises, but if you are looking for a good sci-fi themed shooter look no further.

Singularity isn't going to be setting records as a great Sci-Fi shooter but it is a game that is a lot of fun, and has moments of old school FPS that some shooter games today seem to be unable to reproduce. However does it stand strong or did the "singularity" devour the gameplay as well as time itself?

Gameplay: As I mentioned earlier, Singularity has a nice old school feel to it at times. It reminded me when shooters were just simply shooters. Run through a level fighting enemies, not overloading you with graphic awe. I attempted Singularity on "HARD" and was actually a little disappointed by this. Hard really wasn't hard. It felt like "easy" w/ enemies that did ungodly amount of damage to you. It did make me use strategy though instead of hulking through areas like I have super armor or something. The gameplay mechanics are a nice blend of well polished FPS mechanics, with a very nifty time manipulation element that lets you influence certain objects in your environment(E99 infused stuff) and then pulls various mechanics from other games. The "chrono-step" is my favorite. Similar to Dead Space's objective tracking system, but this looks into the future to find out where you are going to go

Sound/Story: Very creative storyline that has multiple endings (3 to be exact). The game keeps you guessing as to who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. Hidden messages in time, mysterious warnings, the more time changes the more confusing things get. Essentially you are a US soldier sent to an Island outside of Russia to investigate a radiation burst. Next thing you know, time changed and things have gone to hell; you must embark on your quest to try and repair time. Sound is really good. The weapons sound crisp and clean, with the voice overs being decent.

** This game lacks Subtitles, which is a bit of a downer especially for the hearing-impaired or someone like me who just enjoys having em on **

Graphics/Presentation: Graphics are very good, not ground breaking or jaw-dropping but they are crisp and do a good job setting a creepy environment. I was actually more impressed with enemy animations. Very realistic. It was nice to shoot an enemy and it wasn't an insta-kill shot , you can see them on the floor trying to crawl away or get back up. I had a rare time where an enemy even faked it on me and shot me from behind.

**Presentation is where this game honestly loses a star and why I am going into a little detail with it. The game is short, but falls in line with the 'norm' these days it seems. On HARD I beat it in about 7hrs which means on Easy it probably is a 4-5hr play through. Check points save your progress but once in a while they seem spaced fairly far apart. While the puzzles and gameplay were lots of fun, the game starts to rely heavily on the same puzzle but not to the point where it makes the game annoying. As the game starts to approach the end it just feels squished together. The pacing is off and I started to find myself rushing through areas simply to get to more action --In other words the game probably could of used just a tiny bit more polishing towards the last hour of gameplay

Length/Replay: As said above, the game is about 4-5hrs on easy, 7ish on Hard. 3 different endings make for good replay value however, if you simply select "continue" after you beat the game you can literally Re-beat the game and get a different ending thus taking away the replay value of the campaign(I still will play through it again though, try to find stuff I missed) The game has Multi-player included but it really doesn't hold up well compared to other MP shooter games

Overall Score: 83%

Singularity is a fun game. Worth a $60 purchase, ehhh probably not. However $30 would be a great deal for the game. It has a very polished shooting element with a decent storyline. The game is a lot of fun and it is nice to be able to use the power of TIME itself to influence your enemies and environment. What really held this game back was a lack of polish to the pacing and constant recycling of the same puzzle element; plus a very generic, almost pointless tacked on MP(that has almost the same number of achievements/trophies than the game itself?!) Still, Singularity is definitely worth adding to your collection. It is one of those games that you can return to after a few months and have just as much fun as when you first got it

** Seeker Rifle should be mandatory for all future FPS games **

**Bonus: The included Graphic Novel. Honestly, don't pay extra just to get the novel. The novel itself is well put together and uses color images but really doesn't add much to the game. It essentially details the discovering of E99 in 1940. Really serves no purpose since the discovery of E99 isn't a shocking revelation as the game tells you this 10minutes in.

The main reason for this game to get 5 stars is that everything it does, it does great. I've played other shooters and this is one of my favorites.

The story sets in Katorga 12, an island where you'll be playing in the present and past fighting soldiers and monsters, where scientifics have been messing up with E99, an element with special properties that has lead to experiments and the later fall of the island. I must say, though, that for me it's not the story what got me hooked, it's all the weapons, all the things you can do with your TMD and how well implemented all the mechanics are. All the level design, what's happening and what comes next is just very well planned and comes smoothly in a solid game.

In some games we find attempts for really bright ideas, but the implementation brings it down to a nice try. That, in my opinion, is not the case for Singularity. It is true that it uses some previous ideas, as I find it pretty similar to Bioshock at some points (like the flashback scenes, the "telekinesis" thing that we saw in Bioshock, the Pulse) but, as I said, it implements them pretty well and in creative ways. It also adds more stuff to it, as you'll have this device (the TMD) that will be able to make a lot of things like making a slow-motion-bubble where everything inside or touching it will almost not move; reverting soldiers which basically turns the soldiers into puking monsters (doesn't it sound cool?); aging or return to the past some objects & bad guys, which will be basic at some points in the game; and the ones mentioned before.

The weapons are a blast aswell, it has the standard ones like revolver, shotgun, machine gun, sniper & gatling-like gun. Along with those it hase some pretty original ones that put that cherry on top, like the Seeker. It's a powerful rifle that will get rid of the enemies in one shot, but the coolest thing is that you drive the bullet. You move it in the direction you want with the right stick from a view behind the bullet, by the time everything is slowed down and you watch the soldiers being eliminated when you hit them. So you just get cover and have some fun. The other one is the Desthex Launcher, which lets you drop a round grenade to the floor which you can control, so you don't even have to see your enemies, you just roll that metroid-like ball over the floor until you hear the soldiers scream "granada" and release the button for a sweet elimination!

The graphics are very well done. Of course it has some blurry textures here and there (which game doesn't?) but overall it has a neat look with a lot of details, in that post-apocalyptic fashion some games use nowadays. When the game looks specially good is in the rainy scenes because with the Unreal Engine they got a cool effect that looks like the water is running down from the objects, and of course, because of the light reflection the wet scenes look better than others.

Last but not least, the multiplayer is awesome!! It only has two modes, but it doesn't need more. The first one is Extermination where you have two teams, one is the soldiers and the other is the monsters. The monsters defend the current base while soldiers try to get to it. This will be harder or easier according to the team's abilities and coordination. The monsters don't have weapons but you can choose from 4 flavors, each having their special abilities: the Zek (basically melee attackers who can turn "invisible"), the Reverts (slow ones that puke and throw mines), the ticks (small bugs that can walk on walls and control humans by jumping on their faces), and the radions (big armored spiders that shoot some sort of lasers). There are also 4 types of soldiers, with different abilities: healing, teletransporting, pulsing (throwing enemies back and hurting them) and shielding. Overall it is pretty fun and entertaining, very well thought and executed. The other mode is Soldiers vs. Monsters, which I haven't played yet but I find the name pretty self-explanatory.

Oh yes, and the comic book that comes with this edition is pretty cool, good quality & drawings. haven't read it all yet but it's good.

I ordered this thinking it was a Peavey Raptor controller for a PS3 only to find out they shipped an AG Riffmaster instead thank God it was damaged and needed to be returned as this piece of garbage does NOT work with a PS3, they only had a PS2 transmitter in the box, instructions were for a PS2 only. When I called Amazon they told me that the listing had changed AFTER I made my order, no longer is it listed as a Raptor 1337 (although the box that it was delivered in had a Raptor 1337 sticker on it from the Amazon warehouse). As for the construction of this controller....SPEND THE EXTRA $30 AND GET THE LOGITECH GUITAR!!! I have one of those and the craftsmanship of the Logitech far exceeds the Peavy, sturdier, better whammy bar, nicer controls, etc. The Peavey looks like a hobby kit put together in about 10 minutes....WORST PART IS to change the batteries (which come pre-installed VERY odd to me) you need to remove 8 screws on the back cover plate to replace the 4AA batteries, which takes about 10 minutes when the Logitech takes about 15 seconds to change it's out. Sure, it's full sized, but also very bulky, the edges are more squared off than rounded, also the finish on the Logitech is a high grade piano black polished look...the finish on the Peavy was awful, a few bubbles and orange-peel spots. Also, there are only 1 set of buttons, no slide capabilities on the neck, no navigational buttons on the body to scroll through even a PS2 screen. I'm surprised that at $169 they actually sell these ... if I were Peavey, I would be pretty embarrassed to put my label on this controller would serve better as kindling for a fire this winter. After all was said and done, Amazon took this back and I ordered another Logitech guitar they thrw in free overnight shipping, but I still feel cheated as AMAZON was the one who listed it improperly, changed the listing AFTER I ordered it, and could only throw in free shipping for the hassel I have to go through to get this shipped back to them, not to mention this was needed ASAP (yes, I did pay for overnight shipping originally as well).

If they had a rating for HORRIBLE, I wish it were an option, the 1 star review was the lowest I could give

I purchased this item from Amazon.com. I t does com with an adapter that plugs into a PS2 concsole, but also has another adapter that attaches to the PS2 adapter that makes it a PS3 adapter. The product thus far is awesome. The only thing I dont; like is that its a right handed guitar. Most others can be either left handed or right handed. When you flip it upside down to play, there is no strap button to make it left handed. You either have to sit down to play it or buy a bigger strap from a guitar shop. you can still play lefty mode with it. I would recommend this to others.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program About 2 years ago my fiance was complaining about the noise from my surround receiver and my gaming habit. I took the plunge and bought the Ear Force X41 and couldn't have been happier... except for the near constant popping and clicking I heard. Moving the receiver away from my wireless router fixed some of this, but still, I would get the pops at random intervals and it could be quite annoying. Don't even try to use the microwave if you have the X41s turned on and on your head!

I then received a Steel Series Spectrum 7xB via Vine and did a comparison to the X41s. The 7xBs were only marginally better at keeping down the interference and the extra features over the X41s really didn't make me want to move into using them day to day, so I went back to the X41s not long after my review for the 7xB.

Now I'm comparing the XP400s to the X41s and I think I'm going to be sticking to the XP400s this time around.

First, there is NO interference to be heard on the XP400s. You read that correctly, NONE. I put the receiver almost on top of the wireless router that caused all my issues with the X41s and the 7xBs and not once in 4 hours of playing like this did I hear even a faint pop or click! I even tried to use the microwave and... still, no pops or clicks! For many people this alone will be the single best reason to upgrade from previous Turtle Beach models.

Pairing to the wireless controller communicator was done at the factory, so it really was a matter of: charge the headphones, plug in the receiver to the 360 (I used optical and replaced the X41 receiver), plug the headphone puck into the controller and power up the headphones. Powering up the headphones also turned on the wireless puck.

You can control the volume of game chat with buttons on the right headphone, mute is also on this headphone as is the Bluetooth pairing for cell phones. Being able to pair via Bluetooth is also how this headset also works with the PS3. PS3 chat isn't bad, but not as nice for me as the 360 chat, for which these headphones seem to have been designed. I paired this to my phone and made a few calls everyone thought I sounded OK, just a little tinny.

Another nice feature is the mic gain control. This is what changes the mic sensitivity. With it turned all the way up, I hear a near constant hiss and those in my party commented that they could hear a lot of background noise, such as the heater running and family members talking in the background. I dialed this down, which eliminated most of the hiss, if not all, and my chat partners all commented that I was then quite clearly heard, however, I was still described as sounding "tinny."

One feature I really liked about the X41s was how no matter what volume I had the game volume set to, I could always clearly hear my party's conversations because they had some algorithm to figure out and volume match in game audio and raise chat volume when explosions and other loud audio is heard in game. The XP400 do as good a job as the X41s, which means it's quite a solid experience to hear conversation clearly as well as in game audio. The 7xBs had a similar feature, but it would actually audibly turn the volume down of game volume, which was kind of distracting, which was another reason I went back to the X41s.

The detachable microphone is nice, and seems to be about the same as the X41, though the XP400 is a bit thicker and beefier. The connection seems to be the same, though I haven't yet tried swapping mics between the two. I preferred the 7xB due to the retractable mic, but that feature alone wasn't a big enough reason for me to use them all the time.

In terms of sound quality, since the XP400s can use digital audio output from the 360 (and it can also take analog, that red and white connection), you get very clear audio and darn good surround sound as well. In terms of the X41 vs the XP400, I think the XP400 has a little bit of an edge in terms of sound quality. In game surround just sounds better with the XP400s to me. The XP400 also has the ability to change the surround configuration to 4 different presets, all changing how it mixes each "channel" of audio in headphone. I've tried all 4 presets and each does change surround configuration subtly. I find the original surround mode works best for my ears.

Another nice feature is the preset "equalizer" modes. You can enhance nothing (what comes from the 360 is what you hear), you can enhance just bass for bigger explosions, you can enhance just treble for some dialog enhancements and other higher pitched sounds and then you can enhance both. I find I prefer the "both" option as it makes the audio sound a bit richer. All of these settings sound better, to me, than the 7xBs.

There is one feature, however, that I am completely not happy with on the XP400s. The battery is rechargeable, which is good, however it is built into the headset. It is NOT user replaceable! This means that in 2 years or so, after many recharge cycles, I'll either be forced to buy another pair of headphones or send these to Turtle Beach to pay a fee to have the battery replaced. I absolutely hate this about modern day electronics. Absolutely detest it built in obsolescence so that people have to spend more money with the company releasing the product. iPad, iPhone, many Android phones, other MP3 players, etc. It's a huge load of horse patoot in my opinion. I like the X41s because I can field replace the AAA batteries on my own. 7xBs, same thing, replaceable batteries. Not so with the XP400. Thankfully you can still use the headphones while they are charging, however this means they aren't always wireless. Nothing is more annoying than having the headphones die mid game and then have to plug in. Of course, this isn't a completely different experience over having to replace the batteries mid play either, just different. I understand the need for a more powerful battery given the added features Bluetooth eats battery, being completely wireless eats battery and so on. Just because I understand the need for more power than a few AAAs, doesn't mean I like having to have planned obsolescence and not being able to purchase and replace the battery on my own.

One thing that is an improvement is the XP400 actually gives you beeps to tell you the headset needs to be recharged. There was nothing more annoying with the XP41s to have them just die mid game, especially during multiplayer fighting as you stop hearing game audio AND chat when this happens. At least now I have about a 10 minute warning before the battery completely dies.

Turtle Beach claims 10 hours of battery life on a single charge for "normal" use and 15 for "optimal" use. What I've found is I can actually pull off about 12 13 hours if I turn off the Bluetooth function and just use it for game audio when I'm playing on my own. Adding BT and chat all the time and I'm down to around 11 hours.

Over all, the XP400s are a great improvement in every way to the XP41s in everything except for the battery being non-replaceable by the end user. Of course, the MSRP on the XP400 is about $20 higher than the X41s so there is that to remember.

Pros:

Great surround sound

True surround sound, not simulated when using optical audio

Chat and game audio equalization (chat isn't covered up by in game sounds)

Completely wireless

No interference

360/PS3 compatibility

Can be paired to your cell phone and used while gaming no fumbling to put headphones down to answer a call

10+ hour play time

Can be used w/ third party controllers (see Con below)

A step above the X41s

Adjustable microphone gain if you want to hear yourself louder in the headphones, turn this up. If others in your chat can't hear you clearly, turn this up

BT pairing to cell phone

Cons:

Tinny chat sound during party chat on 360 according to those in my parties

Battery isn't user replaceable

Third party (or 1st party wheels) require a cable for chat, which is NOT included (THOUGH THOSE w/ THE X41s, the cable that came with those headphones DOES work)

Pricey

Why 4 stars? That battery thing does really annoy me. IF you don't mind not having the ability to replace the battery and don't mind the price, these are a solid 5 stars.

Coming from the X41s, I had high expectations of the XP400s.

-Pros-

Surround processing is very accurate and detailed.

Bluetooth wireless chat.

New Dual-band radio eliminates nearly all interference for my setup.

-Cons-

Chat. Others complain it sounds like I'm talking through a coffee can.

Non-replaceable battery.

EQ modes very limited.

Blast limiter seems like it is always enabled, even when turned off.

Product Features

"Dolby Surround Sound Immersive 360 degree audio lets you pinpoint the direction of every sound"

This it does, and does very well. No complaints here. It even seems improved over the X41's surround processing.

"2.4/5GHZ Dual-Band Wi-Fi Selects the optimum frequency in the 2.4GHz/5GHz spectrums, virtually eliminating interference"

BIG upgrade over the X41. I used to get tons of interference from the microwave, video baby monitor, wireless... pretty much anything that plugged into the wall. Now I just get an occasional drop out... about once every hour or two.

"Dual-Pairing Bluetooth Answer mobile phone calls while gaming"

Great feature, albeit unnecessary. Good if you miss calls because your headphones are too loud.

*update 4/27/12 this feature has come in handy and works very well. It is slick being able to answer the phone mid-game and not have to wrestle around with the phone and headset.

"Wireless Xbox LIVE and PSN Chat Enjoy complete wireless freedom without the need for chat cables"

GREAT idea, but something isn't right. I've seen others mention the thin sound, like in a tunnel. I can hear them fine, they sound great... but they have a hard time understanding me. I've had quite a few friends complain about how I sound. "what's wrong with your mic?" "are you in a tunnel?" "are you chatting through a soup can?" "What did you say???" For this price, this shouldn't happen. I am currently working with turtlebeach to see if it is an isolated case, or just some shortcut they took on the mic itself.

*update 4/27/12 Worked with turtle beach. Did everything they suggested with no improvement. They kindly offered to RMA the boom itself, and I may decide to try it but I don't have much confidence it will change much. I say that based on the many other comments about the chat.

"Rechargeable Battery Provides up to 15 hours of uninterrupted gameplay and can be recharged while gaming"

This SOUNDS like a great idea, but it has 2 major flaws. If you need to charge while playing, it defeats the purpose of a wireless headset. The charging cable they give you is quite long, so you aren't strapped 4 feet from your 360. Also, at some point, that battery is going to wear out. LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries have limited charge cycles. Time will tell the quality of the cells, and what options we will have in the future.

"50 mm speakers; 2.4/5GHz Dual-Band Wi-Fi"

Speakers sound great, read on for my sound complaints.

*update 4/27/12 The sound really is good. It sounds better than the x41s did, as well as better than my sony and sennheiser headphones.

"Digital and Analog inputs as well as a digital optical connection"

Connectivity is simple if you already have an optical audio cable coming from the 360.

"Dolby Surround Sound with adjustable surround sound angles"

This is where I nit-pick. I don't fully understand the point of adjustable sound angles. Dolby surround is VERY specific about ideal speaker placement, and the surround sound processor should stick strictly to that in order to maintain 360 degree, positional sound. See The first surround sound angle option out of the 6 is the one that seems to be set for the correct speaker angles. The other ones all made the sounds to the side and behind seem like they were coming from incorrect angles.

"Dual-pairing Bluetooth Chat wirelessly on Xbox 360 and PS3 and answer mobile phone calls while gaming"

Already been covered. Cool, possibly useful, but a creature comfort.

"Separate equalizer and stereo expander presets can be combined for different gaming situations"

Once again, This headset loses some points for me. Yes, there are 4 EQ presets. Normal, Treble boost, Bass Boost, and Treble + Bass boost. Here's the problem. The normal mode is very flat. Very little bass. Treble boost is way too bright. almost ear piercing. Bass boost alone is just rumbling. Then the bass and treble boost is the least of 4 evils I guess. Still too much bright and too much bass. There really needs to be a happy medium. Right between normal and bass and treble boost would be ideal.

"Dynamic Chat Boost. Chat volume automatically increases as the game volume gets louder."

This function isn't noticeable, so in my opinion that means it is working. It took a day to really tweak the chat volume level but now that I got a good comfortable setting, it is fine.

"Ear Guard(tm) with Blast Limiter. Limit the intensity of deafening game sounds like gunfire and explosions."

Another great idea, but it seems flawed. I understand they don't want you to blow your eardrums, but it seems like it is always on, even when in the "Off" setting.

All in all, I guess I am happy with them. I don't plan on returning the headset, but I do think you should get a little better bang for your buck. Especially the chat mic sounding horrible. I understand that from a $5 generic chat headset, not a $220 set of high tech headphones.

I was able to snag these on Amazon a few days ago for $180, which was a STEAL! I mainly play MW3 (XBOX) so here is my review for now, I will update my review in a week or two with updates on the Surround Sound Angles.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

XP400 Wireless Headset

XP400 Transmitter

Digital Optical Cable (approx 4 feet)

Headset Charging Cable (12 feet)

Bluetooth Chat Adapter (PS3 & XBOX Compatible)

User Guide

Turtle Beach Sticker

WHAT'S NOT IN THE BOX?

XBOX Live TalkBack Cable

CONSOLE COMPATIBILITY:

XBOX

PS3

PC

FEATURES:

Bluetooth (BT) XBOX Live Chat or optional Wired Chat. I've tried both and the Wired Chat sounds better and breaks up less obviously, but I wanted to be completely wireless so I went with the Wireless BT. BT for cellphones so you can receive, deny or end calls via the headset which is awesome. *Note, the TurtleBeach XBOX Live TalkBack Cable is NOT included.*

Mic, the mic is removable and it has a "mic monitor" dial which is awesome. I turn it all the way up so I can hear myself so I don't scream.

Battery, it has a built in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. I'm not too sure how I feel about this yet, as being able to replace batteries can be nice it can also be very inconvenient. You can also charge the headset while playing with no popping, hissing, humming, etc which was great.

Surround Sound Angles, it comes with 6 surround sound angles, I have yet to find one I like best but they all work surprisingly well. Better than the older X41s and XP500.

Surround Sound ON/OFF Button is also nice to hear the difference.

Blast Limiter, I thought this was awesome. It allows you to "limit" the sound of background blast and gun fire to focus on the soft sounds such as footsteps, which I rely on heavily since I use Dead Silence in MW3.

Tone Presets, it comes with 4 tones presets, flat, bass boost, treble boost, and bass & treble boost. I prefer Flat myself.

SOUND:

Bass/Treble/Mids Amazingly clear and loud, they sound better than the X32's I returned for these.

BUILD: Awesome build, not as cheap as the X32, overall a much better build quality.

COMFORT:

The headset is very comfortable. The ear cups also are comfortable around my ears and they don't put pressure on my head so they don't give me headaches which is nice. They are slightly too big for my smaller head however, but they fit good enough.

HAVE A WIRELESS ROUTER:

I have a Netgear Dual-Band router with a total of 10 devices connected wirelessly, 7 on the 2.4GHz spectrum and 3 on the 5GHz spectrum and I have NO issues of any popping, hissing, humming, buzzing, etc.

HAVE LOTS OF WIRELESS DEVICES:

I have had 2 iPhones, an iPad, Roku, Roku2, iMac and PC laptop connected wirelessly at the same time while I game with NO issues. Keep in mind my Xbox is the only thing I have hard wired. I also have turned the microwave on two rooms away and still have NO, I repeat NO issues.

WIRELESS ROUTER IN CLOSE PROXIMITY:

I also have my headset no less 8 feet away from my router and STILL DO NOT have any issues. This is an amazing headset.

I've had the head set for a couple of weeks now and I have mixed feelings, though overall a positive reaction. I was upgrading from a Turtle Beach X1, which was wired. One of the reasons I decided to get the XP400 instead of the X41 or X42 was because many people complained that the X41 and X42 had interference if they were near a wireless router. I live in a one bedroom apartment and my turtle beach would be within 2 feet of my router so that would be a big problem. I am happy to report that the XP400 has had no problems being next to my router so the claim that it has no interference is true.

Instead of providing your own batteries, this head set has internal rechargeable batteries. I actually like it because you can recharge while playing. The charging cord is as long as the wired headset cords and one cool thing about the charger is that it is a USB cable, so you can charge it in any USB port. I have been charging it from my computer USB port and sometimes from my XBOX's USB port. Not to mention you can use this headset for both PS3 and XBOX 360, which I have both so its a great thing to have.

One feature that I really like that I didn't think I would use is the Bluetooth feature that can connect to a phone. I don't have the greatest phone reception in my apartment so using my turtle beach to talk on the phone has completely fixed that, not to mention that I can now talk hands free! You can also talk while playing, which I've only done once but its nice.

One thing it doesn't do is sync music from your phone, which other headsets do so if thats a big deal you should look at other turtle beach headsets. Also, because chat uses bluetooth, you can not talk on the phone and game chat at the same time. Once the phone call is over, it goes right back to game chat though.

Some people have complained about problems pairing the head set to the turtle beach, an easy way around that is to take the charging cable and plug the headset into the XBOX and then press the pairing button, and just like that they are synced. For the bluetooth chat just make sure you press the bluetooth button on the headset and the chat button on the controller piece at the SAME time and it will automatically sync. It doesn't really explain that, but it is really easy to set up if you know you need to press the buttons at the same time. It took me about 10-15min to set everything up.

The sound in the headsets are great! They have a blast limiter setting which muffles the sounds of gunfire and explosions so you can hear footsteps and small noises better. I have already seen an increase in my scores for shooting games. Another great thing is the surround sound, which allows you to hear the direction of noises. The cheaper model XP 300 is only stereo sound, which is the main difference between the XP300 and XP400 and that is a huge difference to me.

The biggest con is comfort. My X1 headset was really comfortable so I thought this one would be comfortable too, it's not. The problem is that the ear pieces press against your head to try and make a good seal, but the pressure ends up hurting after awhile. Another thing is that its a bit big for my head. I'm a 115 pound girl so my head is pretty small, so if you feel like you have a small head the head set will probably be a bit big for you, still works, just a bit bulky.

Overall Prosgreat sound, great bluetooth feature, works near wifi, PS3 and XBOX compatible, wireless gaming, surround sound, charges while playing, and long charge cable.

Consnot very comfortable, a bit too big for my head, doesn't sync music through bluetooth, if you do not have an XBOX slim you need to buy a headset adapter cable (if you were using HDMI for your headset before, you would have already bought this), and if the internal battery dies you can't replace them.

I personally like the headset and am happy with the purchase, I just wish it was more comfortable considering how much I paid for it.

Want Turtle Beach Ear Force XP400 Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset Discount?

I have the equivalent xp500 model and like many others who have at worst a moderately modern level of tech within the house, the set was useless with constant drops, cracks, whistles, the nine. The base unit on their 2.4 ghz line just stunk up the place, I spent hours adjusting positions and everything to get a clear, non-interrupted signal to no luck.

I constantly upgrade my router to the latest tech but have been going the dual band route for the better part of the last few years so I was sort of skeptical on the addition of the 5ghz band on the xp400 but after trying it, I was pleasantly surprised, it worked like a absolute charm. My current router is the top of the line asus rt66u that just came out and I have mutliple devices residing on both bands so I am asking quite a lot of the the xp400 but so far, I haven't gotten one interruption, it's been flawless. For people in my boat, it's worth a try, the new base seems considerably better in tech so far.

As far as flaws, I would say just like the other models, the bass is extremely underwhelming as compared to other companies. That hasn't changed, it's still the same speakers. The xp500 had a lot of buttons on it, I can imagine people complained about that. The xp400 has a more streamlined approach but a few of the buttons have been moved to the base which was silly in my opinion. The surround angles button being on the base just didn't make sense to me. The xp500 had RCA jacks which was nice as you could hook up a system thru the optical wire then go RCA jack from the tv to listen to tv thru them. While possible on the xp400, it involves getting a RCA to 3.5mm adapter. Conversely, the xp400 has the xbox360 transmitter included where the the xp500 required an additional purchase. Only other difference is the xp500/px5 had preset and configurable sound modes that aren't on the xp400, but those sound modes where so pointless and horrible sounding, it just not a flaw to not have them.

I also have a Logitech 2.4ghz headset that has always worked flawlessly regardless of router being used. They are more sound isolating so the sound is much more immersive and bass heavy but as others have stated, the turtle beach line really does do the high frequencies to a level of quality you just don't get in other sets. End of the day, it's a pick your poison. From a technical sound standpoint, the speakers in the xp line can't be matched on the wireless sound front. On a 'I need a punch' standpoint, there are a few out there that really do it much better. End of the day, it's a preference. I love sound isolation for music, but for tv and games, I think prefer not to have sound isolation so for me,the xp400's are the best wireless gaming headsets on the market.
