Well my guess is if you are buying this you have used a PS3 controller before so you know what to expect. The weight is nicer than the old sixaxis and the dual shock is just like it was in psone and ps2. The white color is cool and goes nicely with my Wii remotes sitting on my table. In case you were wondering this controller works fine with US versions of the PS3.

I recently imported two Dual Shock 3 Controllers for $59.99. The controllers are amazing. The controller has the standard motion control of the Sixaxis but adds the Vibration function from the Dual Shock 2. The added weight of the Vibration components make the controller much better in your hand then the standard Sixaxis.

Also Sony is adding patches to a number of its games to add the Vibration Function. Its definitely worth it, but DO NOT PAY MORE than $59.99. $59.99 will be the retail price when the controllers are released in the US. And you can already get them for that price from Play-Asia.com

i must admit that when i first heard the original sixaxis controllers for the ps3 were not going to have rumble, i wasn't all that disappointed. but now that i have rumble back, i realized just how much i missed it. i shipped mine in from japan so i wanted to give it my review for others who are thinking about getting one when it comes to the states.

this controller is slightly heavier than the regular sixaxis, but it feels great in my hands. i feels sturdier and makes the old controllers feel like toys in comparison. and i noticed the buttons and analog sticks have a bit more resistance to them which make me feel more connected to the games.

the rumbling itself isn't super powerful like the xbox controllers, but i never really liked the rumble in those because i throught they shook too much. it destracted my game. the ds3 rumbles just enough to immerse you more, but doesn't make you think, "whoa this is making my hands numb" like the 360 controller.

there is one notable difference with this rumble however that i wasn't sure was a rumor or not. THE RUMBLE REALLY IS DIRECTIONAL. i popped in Uncharted and let some guys shoot me from different angles to see. when a guy shot my right side it felt like the controller jumped to the left as if reacting to bullet. i thought this was super cool.

all in all, this controller improves on the original sixaxis and also the old dualshock 2 with the addition of directional rumble. the ds3 is a must have for anyone who desperately misses the rumble from the ps2 days and i would also recommend it for everyone else who is even remotely interested.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to warn people that are complaining that their SONY WHITE CONTROLLERS STOPPED WORKING AFTER THE FIRMWARE UPDATE.

Here is the possible reason:

It's FAKE. COUNTERFEIT!

There is a video on the web to help identify the counterfeit product, do a search for counterfeit ps3 controller video. Amazon blocks out the links..

I just bought one from eBay and it's fake. Looked real, packaged like the real thing, until I saw this video and realized I got scammed.

Can you see the flashing red led lights through the controller? Yeah.. it's fake.

The video identifies a lot of the points showing if it is fake.

I am unsure if this person sells real or fakes, but if you have firmware 3.0 on your PS3 I think you will find out soon enough.

Good luck.

Want PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (Japanese Version) Discount?

If you want dual shock on your PS3 Wireless Controller, this product is what you need. I purchased this product from a seller at Amazon and the only downside is that it did not come with the cable used to recharge the controller (I use the cable of my old PS3 Controller to recharge it). Despite the controller being Japanese version it works fine on my PS3 and the lettering is in english. I originally purchased the controller because the analog stick on my original PS3 Controller broke so easily, but DualShock controllers in general are more resiliant in the analog stick. I am completely satisfied with this product.

I just received the controller and so far it's amazing. Keep in mind that these are simple first impressions, but thus far, color me impressed. Right off the bat the controller itself feels solid. Build quality is easily a 7 or 8 out of 10. The auto-centering wheel is going to be great for oval races in GT5 and the new NASCAR game. For once I can hold a fairly steady racing line, which has definitely improved my laptimes a bit. So far I've only tested the controller with Burnout Paradise and F1 2010. Burnout I noticed the tighter analog stick helped out while on F1 2010 the steering wheel was smoother. The pressurized gas and brake pedals are phenominal, specially on F1. The great thing about this controller is the ability to change setups on-the-fly. There is a little switch on the back that is labeled "NFS/GT" which swaps the Square/X with L2/R2.

For fast maneuvers like in Burnout, the steering wheel doesn't respond *quite* as fast as I would like, but it still works very well. I think the best part about this controller is how versatile it is. With F1 2010 the steering wheel really helped in the middle of turns where I usually have to put a bit more wheel into it and often spin or get really loose requiring me to get off the throttle. Speaking of which, the throttle on the controller compared to R2 on the official PS3 controller is like night and day. Everyone knows how loose the analog sticks and triggers feel on the official PS3 controller. That is all tightened up quite nicely with the HKS controller. Much more control.

With Gran Turismo 5 now out, I have been putting this controller through it's paces and am happy to report it is holding up quite nicely. The steering wheel on the controller really shines through on the license tests where the difference between Gold and Silver can .001 of a second. With the steering wheel I can hold a steady line through the turns which allows me to keep as much speed as possible. What I'm finding I like most about this controller though is how I can use the analog stick for the hard turns but I can immediately switch to the steering wheel if I come up on a turn that requires just a little more finesse.

My only complaints would be the digital led readout...it's not so much a complaint, but rather that I find it useless as I'm paying attention to the screen, not the controller. This leads me to my second complaint; the controller is wired. While InterWorks has included more than enough length in the USB cord (which is gold-plated, MAJOR props for that, excellent connections!), I'm curious to see if they could have possible removed the led and put in a bluetooth chip and small battery...perhaps gen 2?

Overall, I'm really digging this new controller. There are a few racing games coming out in the future that I look forward to more now that I have this controller. NASCAR 2011 for instance should really benefit from this controller. For anyone who can't afford a racing wheel/seat, or who just don't have enough room for a racing wheel/seat, this is a near-perfect substitution. Definitely recommended!

*UPDATE* September 1, 2011 I've had the controller for almost a year now and I still use it every week on GT5. I'm almost always in the top 3 and that's racing against guys with actual wheels. We usually race 4-5 races during our racing night and Over the past 6 months or so, my average finish is 2nd ;) I have since expanded to NASCAR The Game 2011 and the HKS controller works great. I can hold a pretty smooth line through the turns at every track, but most importantly Daytona and Talladega. You can clearly tell the difference between people using a regular controller and a wheel and this HKS could easily pass for a wheel. I've had people complain that I must be using a wheel and I simply tell them to Google "HKS Controller for PS3" and it shuts them up :)

With F1 2011 coming out in less than 3 weeks (can't wait!) I'll have yet another game I'll be using this controller on an almost daily basis. Still "definitely recommended!" :D

Here is my small review for this racing controller.

Buy HKS Racing Controller Now

I've been playing Gran Turismo 5 with the HKS Racing Controller for 2 weeks. Here is a list of pro's and con's:

Pro:

Same size as a normal controller

Button layout feels natural

Well built and has a nice weight

Topside has a racecar design

Underside of controller is of a different material and doesnt get sweaty

MACRO button lets you program the controller how you want

Wheel is precise

Wheel snaps back to center

Takes hardly no time to get adjusted to the wheel

Gas and brake pedals improve throttle use through corners

Switches on the underside can easily be changed from GT to NFS

Con:

Gas pedal becomes uncomfortable during a long race (it would be nice if the pedals were made of rubber)

Center marking on wheel can become uncomfortable

LED display in middle sometimes goes crazy (displaying random h's and U's)

Triangle and Circle buttons feel like you have to reach for them (bad if you use handbrake)

These are things that I dont feel are either pro or con:

It is NOT cordless (which is fine with me)

I dont ever look at the LED display

USB plug-in is gold plated

Note: I have only used this controller for GT5, I can't comment on how it works in Need for Speed or other racing games.

I bought this controller for GT5 and have had it for 3 months. All in all I'd say this controller is not that great and I got tricked by positive reviews. What bothers me the most is that the professional reviews (Kotaku, Gameinformer, etc.) didn't address the main problem. The LED display shows the real problem with this controller, it's extremely inaccurate. I would attribute this to the lack of support from Sony, PD, and Eagle 3 (Controller Developer). Someone needs to develop better drivers for this. As is a value of 24 is full throttle. The pedals are also made out of a hard plastic that really dig into your thumb after a few races.

I attempted to drive a F1 car with this controller and found it didn't make things any easier, compared to a normal controller. I may not be the best driver but it's impossible to get the throttle response you need while exiting corners, and the brake isn't any better. I found that even when I was gentle I'd usually end up spinning out. Going back to my previous point, the error in the pedals is exponential, as you get closer to 24, each step is equal to a bigger chunk of acceleration. So while 24 is full throttle 21 is about 3/4 throttle.

The steering wheel was a nice departure from the analog, but after using for 2 months, it isn't much better. It helps with holding constant turns, but that's about it.

Since I bought this controller I tried to like it. I am even still using it now, but that's mostly attributed to my attempt to justify this purchase. I haven't heard anything about future driver support for this so this controller, the newest update to GT5 did nothing to improve this controller's performance. If Sony, Eagle 3, or PD develop drivers for this than the controller is worth it. As is I would not recommend this controller to anyone.

In my frustration I bought a Logitech G27 Wheel, I understand that something like this isn't for everyone, but if your in the market, it's 100 times better than this controller.

I also know that Fanatec offers their own PS3 racing controller, I can't comment on how good it is but it might be worth checking out.

Want HKS Racing Controller Discount?

Great product for racing car games at an affordable price compared to a steering wheel system. This allows you to be more precise with the turning, accelerating, and braking. Great for controlling higher power cars as you can easily control the pressure in acceleration and braking. You also have the ability to memorize different button choice options for different racing setups and change the upper buttons on the fly for different race styles.

However, there's 2 things I didn't like. This controller is not wireless so the cable can be somewhat annoying; but, its long enough to make it comfortable. Last the middle acceleration percentage meter is useless as you really can't be paying attention to that; it's just a cool little feature for cosmetic purposes.

Overall, I recommend this product if you're looking to get faster in the game and be more precise in racing and yet not spend $100s on a good steering wheel system.

I bought 2 of these motion controlers from this seller. The controlers arrived on time but it did not work.I charged it properly and everytime I would push the playstation 3 connect button a red light would flash for few sec and then it would turn off without connecting to the ps3. So I finally had to return it. IDK if its just my luck that I got defective product or most product this person sells are defective. One thing for sure is I am not buying from this guy again, I refuse to be fooled again.

This stick is high quality very good looking, functions well and, while a popular complaint, the square gate gives me no troubles while executing quarter circle motions. I use this arcade stick for any game that doesn't require both analog sticks now.

If you are in the (seeming) minority who's into both Street Fighter and Hello Kitty, then this is for you! C'mon, folks! It's okay to like both!

As you can see, the artwork that adorns the stick is really adorable. From Hello Kitty dressed as Chun Li, to My Melody dressed as Cammy, and (my personal favorite) Tuxedo Sam who's dressed up like E. Honda, the packaging screams super cute. Personally, I'd have preferred the buttons and the ball on the joystick to also be pink ( or maybe a lavender), but as it is, it's a nice contrast.

Functionally, this thing comes with a nice metal base that's equipped with nice, big rubber feet. If you put this on a table, it's not going to slide (though, that depends on how emphatic you are with your movements), but the rubber feet aren't so big that it makes it uncomfortable to place on your lap. The buttons are nice and clicky and are spaced out comfortably ( I have big hands) and aside from my general unfamiliarity with the button placement (This is the first fight stick I've ever purchased for myself), are intuitively placed. There's a Turbo feature, but I'll never use it. With the flick of a switch, you can set your joystick to read as the Directional Pad, the Left, or the Right thumbsticks. Movement of the joystick or pressing of the buttons emits a wonderful clicking sound that brings back my fond memories of playing games in the arcade. Your mileage on this sound effect will definitely vary.

Now, onto the only negative I have for this fight stick, and it has to do with the joystick. You see, at the bottom of the joystick (inside the very guts of the controller), is a restrictor plate that limits your joysticks movement (otherwise, you'll just bust the thing up inside while entering your motions). It's square. You wouldn't think that has much to do with anything, but hear me out. It makes it hard to do quarter circle movements. And, let's face it, you tend to do a lot of those in fighting games. Yes, you can learn your way around it, but it definitely threw off my fighting game rhythm. Thankfully, MadCatz made it easy-peasy to switch out, and circular or octagonal replacement restrictor plates are easy enough to find, and relatively inexpensive. Ultimately, I had to find and buy a replacement restrictor plate and install it before I reached optimal satisfaction with the product, and that's the only reason why this stick did not get a 5 star rating.

Durability? Well, I just got the thing, so I don't really know. Plus, that will depend on how rough you are with it. Or any sort of controller. It seems sturdily built to me, so I hope that it lasts for a while.

So, in the end, if you need a fight stick this is a pretty good one. I will readily admit that there are manlier alternatives. But just think of how much more satisfaction you'll get when you defeat your opponent and they see you did it with Hello Kitty backing you up?

I bought mine as a demo display model, so there were a few scratches here and there. Overall, the build quality was nice, and definitely a step up in weight over the plasticy Rockband guitar controller. The neck is made up of real wood too! I also like the overall design as it feels less like a toy. Weighting wise, it's a little lighter than a real electric guitar. Size wise, the neck is a tad smaller as well. However, besides the top fret buttons jamming underneath the neck (it happened once so far after 3 months, and all I did to fix it was press down and slide it back out), I'd say this is a great guitar controller to purchase. I would give it 5 stars if it didn't have the jamming issue. Even my apartment mates love the overall feel. The pick action feels more controlled in their opinion. Oh right, in Rockband, the starpower button is one of the lower ones under the strum button instead of being the whammy bar. Might be programmable, but I normally play Frets on Fire on PC using this controller instead of Rockband on PS3. The wireless dongle has a USB and PS2 controller plug, so this can be used on PS2 and PS3. I don't think it advertises that it can be used on PC, but it does work for me on Windows 7RC. I just plugged it in (connected online), and it automatically installed the driver for this guitar to work.

DOA... Dead on Arrival!!! The guitar doesn't work. The wireless connector doesn't even pick it up. Its just a dead useless guitar to me.

Buy First-Act GE-2000 Guitar Video Game Controller for PlayStation 2 and 3 Now

Overall the guitar is a good buy..only issue, which I previously looked up before I purchased the guitar,is the fact that the buttons stick every so often which can ideally be pretty irritating when playing on hard songs. Thus if you Hit the buttons on the lower part of them they do not stick so that is a plus, lubing them up helped also.

On the bright side the weight and feel of the guitar is great, it feels life-size and realistic, which is always a plus...

I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something not to expensive but also a decent non-plastic guitar controller. Well worth it considering the replicas of other guitars cost $150ish. Enjoy..

First, this case does fit the "fat" PS3. I wasn't clear on that when I bought it, but it certainly does so it is perfect for me. I hauled the PS3 around in its original box for a long time, but the handle finally broke while I was carrying it. Luckily nothing broke. This case is definitely sturdy so I have no worry about that. The system fits snuggly inside and there is a strap inside to hold it as well.

The pouch on the front can hold a couple of items. I've found that I can fit the power cable, HDMI cable, one controller and one game inside. There are different combinations of that (two controllers, one game, etc.), but the point is you cannot carry a whole lot inside. The option I will exercise is putting the two cables inside the main area with the console to get a little more room, but I will inevitably have to carry other stuff outside the bag.

There are actually 16 slots inside the case to stick disks in if you want to transport them that way. I prefer to keep disks in their proper cases.

Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it. However, I would design the case differently to allow more carrying room because anyone who is transporting their system most likely needs more room than what is provided.

11-18-11 edit: The case is still holding well. No problems and I have used it a lot.

Picked this up for my son, and was very impressed with it. Good action, great graphics, a blast to play overall. My itches with it were relatively minor, but they did hinder my enjoyment.

1) Lack of quality voice acting from the movie, or the series. Even though it's the same actors from the movie, the voices just don't sound right. It serves to pull you out a bit when the voices are so different, but that could just be a diehard fan like me.

2) Having to hold the transform button down to stay in vehicle mode. When Optimus rolls out, I doubt it's a conscious effort to stay in that form.

3) The mission style of gameplay is a bit dated, especially when you don't get any free roam capabilities, which would have made this game 10x better.

4) Multiplayer is only over the internet, no 2 player splitscreen co-op, or even deathmatch. This is very lame, especially with this generation of consoles, this should be standard.

Other than that, it really is a fun game for what it is, but very much linear.

Transformers revenge of the fallen makes for a good purchase but I don't think it has enough replay value to justify its price unless you enjoy online multiplayer or if you enjoy collecting games like me ^^

Mission enviornments are nicely done and usually there are large amounts of destructable objects in each level.

Autobot and Decepticon models look good, are highly detailed with nice textures and everything is scaled correctly in game.

Each mission takes place on a open-map,some maps have pedestrians and vehicles that walk and drive around the city that can be either crushed or destroyed ^^

Free roam is nice but there are no enemies to fight, it would've been nice if the developer luxoflux had added bots and possibly a skirmish mode like they had in Vigilante 8 and Second offense to give the game more replayability, I know that may be asking too much considering this is a movie licensed game...One negative is when the robot transforms to a vehicle we can't stop or reverse, the vehicle is always zooming forward, Its frustrating.

I completed both campaigns in about 8 hours but I was taking my time and having fun exploring the maps, blasting enemies and laying waste to enviornmental objects, I really like stepping on the tiny little pedestrians ^^

14 zones containing 23 missions take place in such exotic locations such as the American east and west coast, the Atlantic ocean, Egypt and China.

The enemy AI seems intelligent enough to provide some fun, they will climb buildings or transform between different vehicles but they usually don't present much of a challenge.

I recommend it... Its fun, looks nice graphically, provides a fair challenge but doesn't have much replay value unless you play the missions over and over or play online.

The last Transformers video game is too difficult for my son. However, my son is having a blast with this Revenge of the Fallen game! Our household really loves Transformers and saw the movie on opening night,so we all get into this game. The game is so exciting to play. My son is still getting used to the controls but he's doing well enough to advance pretty good through the game since he's had it over the past two days. He will be starting preschool in a couple of months. I usually don't let him play a game as much at one time like I have been but he's amazing me and my husband, and my husband loves playing it with him even though he's not the gaming type. It was worth the money spent already!

Read Best Reviews of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Here

The last Transformers movie tie-in game was a pretty run of the mill experience that you would come to expect from a game of the type. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a little bit better in those regards, albeit not by much. Much like the last time around, you can choose to be either on the Autobots or Decepticons side, and familiar faces like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Starscream are abound as well. In terms of action, the game provides a hearty amount of it, with the only problem being there's really no variety to the missions, and everything as a whole just gets way too repetitive. The control schemes are awkward between the robot and vehicle modes, while the robots themselves are wonderfully rendered, compared to the bland environments they find themselves in. There's some fun to be had in the game's various multiplayer modes as well, but just like the last game before it, there really isn't all that much here to sustain your interest. All in all, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is worth checking out for Transformers fans, and that's really all that need apply.

First of all take in consideration that I am a huge fan, so this game was a no brainer for me, so here it is what i liked most about this game.

The graphics are great, but one thing confuses me, on the box says it supports full HD but it only goes as high as 720, but I can live with that, the game controls at first are a bit confusing, but after a few minutes of play time you'll get the hang of it, the missions are pretty simple, protect and beat the crap out of the enemy. The only thing that i would like to change are the cut scenes, they are just to short, but none the less the game is great.

So if you grew up with these cartoons you'll love this game.

I have never written a review on Amazon before. So here it goes:

I bought LBP2 (LittleBigPlanet 2) when it first came out, on January 18, 2011. It was a huge improvement from LittleBigPlanet! It was simply spectacular, and there is no game that I have ever loved this much before (Except maybe LBP1).

Here are the different elements I want to talk about:

Gameplay: Gameplay is absolutely fantastic, it is fun, and original. If you enjoyed lbp1, you will LOVE lbp2. It is mainly platforming, there are a few added bonuses such as a sidescroller level in the Avalonia section. In addition to the main story levels, there are a lot of Mini-Games that are definitly worth checking out. There are some wonderful bosses that are quite fun to beat.

Challenge: Some levels are challenging, but there are a few that are super difficult to Ace(Complete without dying).

Story: The story is not super original, but it is fun none the less. You are out to destroy a giant vaccume that is destroying all things good and replacing them with evil, and dark creatures/objects. The characters in the story are fun, but in my opinion, are not as original as LBP1's character curators.

Create:In LBP1, there were many restrictions to building an amazing level. BUT in LBP2 almost all of those restrictions have disolved. The same create mode as lbp1, but with revamped tools. You still have all the tools you did in lbp1 but you gain some new amazing ones. In the special edition you get all of the move pack tools including the Paint Tool (MOVE REQUIRED), The Movinator, the motion recorder (MOVE REQUIRED)

Now here are the tools that came with the base game: The Controllinator (Also called DCS), Sackbots,Anti Gravity switch, advanced mover, Microchips (to store all of your logic) and much, much more.

Overall, this game is a lot of fun, and I recently got the special edition, and that comes with:

*PlayStation Move support: Now you can choose to play LittleBigPlanet 2 with all new Move controls and enjoy the over 6,000 Move games created by fans like you FOR FREE! Endless Fun!

*LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack: Rise of the Cakeling

A brand new story featuring 14 levels

Create your own PlayStation Move games

Hundreds of new assets to create with

A new Powerup for Sackboy The Brain Crane

11 brand new PlayStation Trophies

*Disney/Pixar's Toy Story Level Pack

5 new levels + 2 mini-levels, Alien costume and more goodies

*Disney/Pixar's Toy Story Costume Pack

Buzz Lightyear, SlinkyDog, Hamm, and Rex costumes

*Even More Animals Costume Pack

Crocodile, Mandril, Vulture, Cobra costumes

*Cats Costume Pack

Siamese, Persian, Marmalade, Sphynx costumes

*Dogs Costume Pack

Bulldog, Dalmatian, Poodle, St. Bernard costumes

So, if you want over $35 of bonus content ON THE DISC then the Little Big Planet 2:Special Edition is here for you!

I appreciate feedback, and/or questions. :D

EDIT: JANUARY 22, 2012:

Okay so first things first is that I should clear a few things up.

-Create is EXACTLY the same as in LBP1, but you have new tools, and less restrictions.

-ALL controls are the same. You control Sackboy the same way, except when he is in a vehicle (Controlinator.

-I recently went back to LBP1, and you CAN see a difference in the looks. LBP2 looks a lot better than LBP1.

-Create mode tutorials are a lot better. In lbp2 you will actually learn how to use a certain tool, unlike LBP1 where you get a bad tutorial. LBP2 tutorials explain themselves very well, which imo makes create easier to use.

You know how you buy games for your kids and after maybe a few weeks they either beat the game or get bored with it? Well, that will not happen with this game. This is a fun never-ending game. Players get to build levels on their own and play online with their friends as well. New levels are built daily. It's muliplayer, so sometimes I join in to play with my children. Up to four people can play. It is fun for all ages. I heard the theme to "Beverly Hills Cop" in one of the community made levels, which let me know that I am not the only "oldie" around...lol

I have been gaming my whole life and this is one of the best games I have ever played!

My wife enjoys it as well and she is not a gamer.

I might come back and expand on this review, but there is nothing bad to say about this game! Seriously, buy it!

If you liked Little Big Planet, stop reading this review and purchase LBP2! This game took all you loved in the first game and improved upon it. The platforming is great, the graphics are excellent, the music is wonderful, and the level/game creation tools and tutorials have been vastly improved. This game is truly fun for the whole family, as it is minimally violent, contains no gore or cursing, and the level creator is a great way to nourish your creative side. Little Big Planet 2 is more than a platformer, it's an experience that you should play first-hand.

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter for Christmas. Great game and very age appropriate. Little Big Planet 2 is a great continuation of the first edition. Like part 1, it's a multi player game and appeals to all ages (including myself who has played with my daughter). The 2nd edition can be used with the Play Station Move, however the Move is not necessary as you can play using regular controllers as well.

This is my first fightstick. Just unboxed it not too long ago and played some SSF4 AE. It was different feeling since I am still in the stage of transitioning from console controllers to a fightstick; however, I was able to pull off all the moves I wanted to with this stick.

Pros: This fightstick is made for the PS3 and the PC. My windows 7 was able to recognize the fightstick once it was plugged in. The buttons and joystick may not be of Sanwa descent, however, they are very responsive and have a quality feeling. Overall, the fightstick has some heft and will more than do for newcomers like me into the game fighting scene.

Cons: None really; I ordered overnight shipping and ONTRAC cut it a bit close on the delivery but I got it as promised.

Overall, its a good buy for the price and performance. $59.99+Shipping isn't bad for a quality fightstick.

I just got my V3 yesterday and I played some SFIII:3S Online Edition for a few hours on it. Having been used to the USA Happ-style controls (baseball bat topped sticks, smaller buttons), the transition to a more Japanese layout on this Hori stick takes some getting used to. The cool thing is that the button diameter is larger than Happ, and the button height is nice and low so that you get good response time on your inputs.

Additionally, the Hori stick feels shorter and less stiff (that's what she said) than a Happ competition stick, although so far I kind of prefer the feel of the Happ over the Hori. The Hori stick also tracks on a square gate so you can feel the corners, as opposed to the Happ competition stick where it feels smooth in all directions (octo gate). I just think it'll take some getting used to.

If you're used to Japanese (Sanwa / Seimitsu) arcade layouts with the curved button layout, the closer proximity between buttons and stick, the 30mm diameter pushbuttons, and square-gated motion, then the Hori Fighting Stick V3 will make you feel at home. Additionally, if you're hardcore like the top players in SFIII:3S or any other fighting game you should choose to play, I've heard that this stick specifically is made to be moddable, where the button holes exactly fit Sanwa snap-on pushbuttons, and the stick can be swapped out with a Sanwa JLF stick with flat mounting plate. I've seen pictures of it done without any soddering. You'll just need to crimp some wire, yank out a PCB (where the buttons are) and connect using crimp quick connects. I haven't done it myself, but if I do and it's successful, I'll update this review.

Enjoy!

Most of the time you have to pay top dollar to purchase a good fighting stick, but this stick is an exception.

For an awesome price of $59.99 you get all the qualities that you get from most of the arcade sticks in market and more! The HORI Fighting Stick V3 has a sleek design and light weight which makes it easier to carry around and transport. It has turbo functionality for all of the buttons and the six button layout keeps the stick nice and compact. The buttons are not Sanwa but are very responsive and so is the stick.

I am still new to fighting games and playing with arcade style stick controllers but found that this was a great starter stick for me to learn the ropes and get used to executing moves. I feel that this product is a great stick for anybody who is starting off in fighting games and looking to purchase a stick without spending over $100! You'll definitely feel that you have gotten your money's worth! Thanks HORI!!

I have been looking for a fight stick that worked well and was a great bargain. The PS3 Fighting Stick by Hori is the perfect match for me. I bought a previous MK styled fight stick and that was a peice of crap. The button layout was god awful and the button resonse time was lagging. This stick however, this stick is like recieving a gift from the gods themselves!!!! It is extremely responsive and the button layout is perfect for any fighting games needs. I like the 6 button layout as it's just what the gaming doctor recomended. Yes it does have a square restrictor gate as opposed to an octogonal one, but that dosen't matter. I was still able to pull off killer combos on Blazblue CS Extend as well as dominate on Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown!!!

This is a great fight stick for those who want one without shelling out a fortune for one. It works like a charm and performs extremly well. Also, I chose 1 day shipping on Friday and came at my doorstep on Monday morning so jolly good there as well. 5 stars for this stick is not enough for how great it is. More like a 10 star product. MUST BUY FOR FIGHT FANS!!!!

I have a TV with only one HDMI input... what a drag to have to switch cables when you want to do Hi-DEF gaming and Blu-Ray with the awesome ps3 on your HDTV that already has the cable box hooked to it.

In comes the neat little JoyTec HDMI Trilink. The thought process is right... it allows you to hook-up three separate HDMI sources to your TV with only one HDMI input. It even has a nice little basic remote and an attachment which allows you leave the unit hidden and still receive signal from the remote. I even setup my universal remote to control the unit.

The problem is that I keep having problems... Sometimes it's no sound and sometimes it's no picture. To make it worse... no one thing fixes it... sometimes it's as simple as changing the channel on the cable... other times I actually have to restart the little unit (mostly I have to restart the little unit). And since I have it hidden with the rest of the cords... I have to move my entertainment center out to get to the unit. Needless to say... it's a pain when you want to watch something right then... or have company over.

If you're willing to deal with the crap... it's excellent for the price you pay for it since I haven't found anything else more reasonably priced. But, if you can (meaning you can afford something else)... skip this one... if not, it's worth having over nothing at all.

I have three devices hooked into this little switch: DirecTV HD-10, a PC via DVI to HDMI converter, and a 360. It works as advertised as long as you don't breathe in its general direction. If you do, the picture more often than not will not come up until you go jiggle the cables leading into it. It's a real pain, but at the time, it was far and away the cheapest thing I could find that had three ports. Times have changed, and now so am I. Motorola cable TV box (passes picture, but not sound)

Roku streaming video box (passes picture, but not sound)

OPPO 981 DVD player (passes nothing).

I have an old Monoprice 5X1 switcher that works fine with the Motorola box and Roku box, but not the OPPO (same failure mode).

I was a huge skeptic of this game at first, MK VS DC, it was like combining toothpaste with orange juice...."Ugh"!

But Midway pulled it off. I spent probably 3 hours with the game last night (alas no online yet) and was very pleased.

First off the PS3's controller rocked the house as far as response with the D-pad.

Second; The game itself is FUN, not only do you have the standard arcade "Tower of Power" to climb, this MK throws in a neat story mode with beautiful cut scenes and a unique way to play all the characters.

While playing the game, I never even noticed the fact it was "T" rated, blood still flies, body's and costumes get damaged (you can actually knock off Scorpion's mask), and the fighting is just plain brutal.

There's 3 new gimmicks within the matches Close Kombat, Free Fall Kombat, and Test Your Might, which add some flair to the matches.

Free Fall is cool as heck.

Fatalities are here, and even toned down, they look great. I reduced Wonder Woman to skeletal remains with a "Lava Bath" the burned Captain Marvel to a crisp with "Hellfire" both courtesy of Scorpion.

Even blade happy Barraka has cool Fatalities, my favorite is the "Impale", where he knocks an opponent on his back, jumps on top of him, punches him in the chest, then fires his blades into the victim.

Looks awesome, not gory, but looks awesome.

There is going to be a learning curve to take advantage of the combos, and the game can kick your butt even on easy.

All in all this looks and feels like an MK game without a doubt, and definite improvement over all the MK games since MKIII.

I would like to see MK return to it's "M" rated roots, but I'll sacrifice a little gore over game play any day.

Well, I am a self-described "casual fanboy." While I love fighting games (especially MK, KOF and SF), I am not a hardcore gamer by any definition. In addition, while I enjoy the "DC Universe" I am not into comics per se. I share this to put my review in context. In any case, I was looking forward to this game but after the last three MK games I had my reservations. Let's face it MK did not transition well from 2D to 3D. Deception was only fun, Deadly Alliance was tolerable and Armageddon was lackluster at best (except for Kreate-A-Kharacter). Add to all this heavy handed censorship courtesy of the ERSB, needless to say I was not holding my breath.

Now I can breathe because this game is actually fun and worth the hefty price tag. The graphics are stunning (well, the character models are stunning and the backgrounds are only "very good"). I especially like the battle-scarring effects. The actual game play engine is much improved over the last 3 or 4 MK entries and (at least on the PS3 version) the move-sets are very responsive. While there appears to be some special move replication between characters (i.e., DC characters sharing moves with MK characters), overall the characters are quite unique. Further, the characters stay largely true to their back-stories and act in a way that we would expect. The story mode is two-fold and quite entertaining (if not a bit on the campy side). Finally, yes the Fatalities and Heroic Brutalities have been significantly toned down. But there are several unique finishers and there is still blood to be found (just no spines and entrails).

However, there are a few drawbacks. There are no distinct mini-games (yes, there have been a few integrated into the fighting system). Also, there are no alternate costumes or any other unlockables really. There are only a few unlockable kharacters. Finally, the pro-moves (extended combos) can be difficult to get down pat.

In closing, I give this game a 5 for fun and a 4 for overall quality. Have fun!

Clear off your calendar if you pick this one up. This game is incredibly fun and addictive. The graphics here are amazing, and other than some strange costume changes for The Flash and Green Lantern, they're faithful to the comics. The Mortal Kombat side of things is pretty much standard as far as character build goes. There are a few minor tweaks, but you can easily see which character is which. DC has Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, Captain Marvel, Joker, Catwoman, Lex Luthor, and Deathstroke. MK has Lui Kang, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Shang Zui, Kano, Jax, Sonja Blade, and Kitana. I missed seeing Johnny Cage in here, and I think Catwoman could have been scrapped for another hero like Green Arrow or Hawkman, but for the most part you can't complain about their choices.

Each character has their own unique moves. It's easy to see where spending some time playing the same character will make you a formidable opponent if you take the fight online. Most of the characters have long-range attacks, and the finishing moves are spectacular!

Playing in story mode is a one-player affair. First you choose which side you're playing on (MK or DC). The DC side finds Superman stopping Darkseid and accidentally opening a portal that begins to bring the two realities together with crushing results. In Story Mode, you play as each character over time, learning individual moves and getting just good enough with each before moving on to the next. Some of them have a bit of a learning curve, but for the most part the major attacks are the same button-mashing combination (but with different results for each). By far my favorite characters are The Flash and Captain Marvel. Flash has a move called "Around the World" that will leave your enemies spinning and unable to attack for a few precious seconds. Captain Marvel can call down the Shazam lightning on his opponents (among many other cool moves).

By far this is the best DC game that's come out in years. Though the gameplay is basically the same thing between cutscenes (fight somebody), it's still a lot of fun.

Despite being a T game that necessarily has to censor extreme blood and gore, this is an excellent fighter with a healthy roster of favorites from each side and a bunch of nice little touches that make it special. The stage-specific special moves are very well done, particularly the free-fall battles (note that your opponent can see your own button presses during these, so don't keep mashing the same one and risk getting the tables turned with you ultimately on the ground instead...people online don't seem to realize this, to my huge advantage). The fatalities (called Heroic Brutalities for good guys, who don't kill but instead just hurt you a lot) are pretty boring, but it is a T game, after all. They're not all bad, and maybe Catwoman's second is the most brutal. The button layout and responsiveness are both excellent, and pulling off moves isn't too difficult.

Online lag can definitely get frustrating, unfortunately. While you can see the connection strength against any given opponent, it doesn't seem to be very accurate, and changes frequently. This means that, during the match, you'll see moves happening that should absolutely connect (or not connect), and yet still do. You'll see punches thrown from three yards away that somehow hit, and uppercuts that somehow miss despite being right up against an unblocking, standing opponent. Getting countered on something like this is really frustrating. Blocking suffers as well, so even if you see an attack coming, blocking might not trigger in time, or any other button. It's not so bad as to be game-breaking, but it can be frustrating and might mean the outcome of the match.

One thing I want to complain about is balance. Let's just be honest here: There are a few S-tier characters here that are clearly better than all the others. Expect to face Scorpion more than half the time online, spamming his unpredictable inferno and charge-uppercut combo to infinity. If you're not against the ultra-newb-friendly Scorpion who can spam his dashing uppercut nonstop--which can't be countered, only broken, and is almost impossible to make a counter-hit on except with a projectile--then expect his brother or whatever, Sub-Zero, who will do nothing but throw ice at you and counter everything you do--which, unfortunately, includes *any* contact, including grabs. But neither of them are as bad as the shameless The Flash, who is mind-blowingly fast to the point where it is absolutely impossible to keep up with him. He's by far the fastest character in the game, and has stunningly high-damage attacks that are very difficult to block or predict. Worse, there's almost zero time to counter after he does one of his specials, meaning he can simply continue beating on you, even if he missed or you blocked it. You'll notice that the highest-ranked players are *all* Flash players. They'll brag nonstop about how great they are, but that's like Germany bragging to Poland about how much better their tanks are. It doesn't matter, you're The Flash, which has nothing to do with skill, just spamming special moves.

If you want to be just as cheap as them and end up facing a Scorpion or Sub-Zero player who spams the same moves over and over, learn how to play Lex Luthor and punish them hardcore, probably for a flawless victory if you do it right. Luthor's deadly forward missile is massively powerful and obviously can't be countered by Sub-Zero, who will get nailed in the face for it. He's also good against Scorpion for the uppercut for the same reason, as he can either do his 26B or 24C immediately after dodging or blocking it for a beautiful punishment. He will obliterate either of them, but he'll unfortunately not fare quite as well against The Flash, who is far, far faster than him. The Flash, unfortunately, has no bad matchup, so you're SOL either way if your opponent picks him and has any idea what he's doing. Even Superman can't take The Flash *even if he's flying*, since you can get hit in the air by The Flash's best moves.

Catwoman is likely the least-used character in the entire online scene. After fighting nearly 600 matches, I've come up against *one* Catwoman player, and I doubt she was this player's main, contrasting the four or five hundred Scorpion players. But Catwoman has an excellent advantage against some characters, particularly Sub-Zero, for a very simple reason: Sub-Zero can counter you any time you touch him, but Catwoman's whip doesn't count (unlike her normal grab or leap attack, which will get you killed). That means if he does the freeze counter and you can provoke them into thinking you're attacking (every Sub-Zero plays this way, it seems), you can counter with a whip grab, which will count as a projectile and will connect. She's also faster than him, and can double-cartwheel and whip-grab them into oblivion if they just try to charge you. I adore it when I go against a Sub-Zero player, since Catwoman completely annihilates him and makes his countering useless. She also *can* work against a lesser Flash player, since her cartwheel kick combo followed by a downward whip grab is fast damage to any less-experienced Flash players who leave themselves open sometimes. Still, I emphasize, Flash has no counter, and a good Flash player will kill you no matter which character you pick and no matter how good you are with them. He simply can't be beat in competent hands.

One other thing worth noting about Catwoman is her very easy damage potential and priority over other attacks. Catwoman is almost never used online, but she's pretty much my main for very good reasons. One, she has the excellent double carthweel kick to start off any match, which is extremely fast and your opponent won't possibly see coming. This can be quickly followed up by a low whip grab, and this right away is huge damage. After that, use her leap attack to stop anyone who thinks they can keep you away with projectiles, or anyone who tries to charge you, as any charging characters will get slashed up by her. Also, her basic uppercut is special, because it's the only uppercut that can *always* be made into a combo, unlike any other character. After an uppercut, you can instantly and without fail use the low whip grab to pick them up off the ground and do a quick 15% extra damage. She's an excellent anti-melee fighter, or anyone who uses counters, since her whip is immune to counters. She only has difficulty against projectiles, because she herself has none. The best thing to do here is to just strafe the projectiles repeatedly until you have the opportunity to charge them. Done right, you can now corner them and do the same easy combos as before. Two cartwheels followed by a low whip grab is wonderful damage, and extremely simple to do. While she's considered bottom-tier, I find Catwoman to be an excellent fighter against almost anyone for her speed and stupidly overpowered whip grabs and priority-smashing leap slash.

On the other extreme, you've got characters that are worthless. Baraka is probably the worst character in the game, having absolutely nothing going for him. His moves are weak, he's not very fast, and he can be massively punished if he misses any move. He's really only good for his charging kick, but if it misses or is blocked, has such a long recovery time that anyone can punish you for missing. His basic triangle combo is decent and hits crouching players, but you can't combo into it. Baraka's the kind of character you use to humiliate someone, since he's so much worse than everyone else. Sonya is a one-move joke, with one single half-decent move, but is essentially the same move the far-better Shang Tsung has, and also a similar move to Batman's, which is also better. And I really hate to say this, but The Joker just isn't very good, either. He's in-between bottom-tier and middle-tier. He's not incapable of winning a match, but there are definitely better choices available. He's not particularly fast, and none of his moves are very high-damage, and almost all of them leave him open as he recovers. He gets completely annihilated by someone like Lex Luthor, who can simply spam his missile repeatedly. At least he has one decent fatality.

Everyone else has their perks. I main Lex Luthor, second Catwoman, third Superman, fourth Shang Tsung, and fifth Baraka (because by then I can win with even him if the matches go on long enough). I'm not into playing characters that are obviously superior to all the others, so I enjoy those four in particular. Also, because there's so much Scorpion to go around, both Lex and Catwoman can counter the hell out of him if they're used right. Most people don't expect those characters against Scorpion, so it often works out. Catwoman's second fatality is also great, and probably the most violent fatality in the entire game. It sure ends the hell out of the contest.

One thing definitely worth mentioning is that there are people who use hacks online to bolster their wins. This almost invariably means having a Flash player automatically use a certain combo when you're open, which has near-infinite range, and will blow apart your life bar, and you'll be totally helpless to stop it, since it can't be sidestepped or countered, or even broken out of. On the bright side, cheaters are easy to spot: They'll have around ten thousand wins and *zero* losses, which should tip you off pretty quickly to ignore them. Some players are also hatefully referred to as "pullers" for doing nothing but using long-range attacks until their opponent is forced to assault them, to which they'll respond with a move the other person can't possibly dodge (The Flash does this very well). They will do this repeatedly until they win. "Pullers" are hated in the community, so don't be one, please. We all know it wins every time and there's nothing we can do about it, so there's no point. It's not like anyone actually cares about records when cheaters run amok everywhere.

Really, you should already know what you're getting into here. It has a Mortal Kombat style, except it's rated T and has DC characters. It's got a story mode for each side that, while not exactly groundbreaking, is still entertaining, much more entertaining than other story modes in fighters. It actually has a plot, for starters, and has an excellent final sequence that is truly epic. Pick it up if you're interested. Just don't expect gory fatalities or mechanics that are all that complicated. But if all you care about is matching up Batman against Raiden or something like that, by all means, go for it. It's a competent fighter that does what it needs to do well. If the balance weren't so off, two stars would be added, but when online consists of three characters except for the ambitious, you know something's wrong.
